Roderick, seeing the powder kegs already in hand, moves away from the flame and towards the bow of the ship. He opens to door to the cabin and moves in, quickly rifling through any storage. Hopefully we can find some papers or a manifest of some sort. If we can, that will give us some insight into the their schedule.

Perception: 1d20 + 12 + 1d6 ⇒ (9) + 12 + (3) = 24 Burn a use of inspiration which leaves me with 1 more.

Elara moves up the stairs with her keg, while Adran flies off with his barrel to get it out of flame range.

Connor's constructs bat useless at the flames, battling a losing battle.

Roderick enters the forward room, and immediately sees what looks like a surface worlder chained to the wall. The small man's body is cut and bruised, and all he has on him is a loincloth for modesty. Considering the purpling and bruises, the man was beaten severely over many days, and then slammed about in the crash, being on the brunt of the bow that hit the trees. He is unconscious.

Blinking in surprise as he finds a lone man chained in the cabin, he calls out mentally to Hero as he starts to undo the man's bindings, "Hero, tell Conner to get his constructs or our squalling oaf of a captain down here. There's a surface worlder who's not likely to make it out on his own."

Unsure if his attempt to alert the rest of the party was effective, he focuses on unbinding the man's shackles.

Disable Device + Inspiration: 1d20 + 12 + 1d6 ⇒ (10) + 12 + (2) = 24 Using my last inspiration.

I'm assuming I didn't see the key at a casual glance when I entered the room (given 24 perception above). Correct?

Correct, it was around the waist of the guy who's bleeding out on the beach

Roderick begins working feverishly and after a couple of rounds, the manacles click and fall off, letting the small humanoid fall away from the wall to the floor. As it does so, Roderick sees scars on the back... it's a halvavian who's had his wings ripped out...

Roderick is busy the next two rounds. Need actions from everyone else for round 4 and 5.

Yeah. I know Roderick is in there and I assume we all noticed the man so we got the gunpowder out so unless he calls for help I will be fighting fire. Yest both rounds is the plan.

Well, you didn't notice the man, Roderick was the one who opened the door and went in. Adran was already outside when that happened. Elara could notice him before leaving with her barrel with a roll. Once Roderick announces it everyone will know. Just wanted to be sure you were continuing that action for two rounds is all.

Muttering curses and flying to survey the damage and attempt to ave anything of value rory flies in from above to try and find anything of value from a carrion birds view. Simultaneously he bellowed. his own sailors sense going on auto pilot regarding ships and flames.

"Throw sand and dirt ahead of and onto the flames to slow them down!! They're bound to have some water barrels down in the hold as well!!"

Connor landed on the upper deck, gingerly setting down amidst the flames. He looked first for sand buckets, water barrels, and other means to put out the flames.

Connor finds some torn sail cloth. It's coated with chemicals to make it fire resistant, so he begins using it to bat at the flames.

There are copper pipes, most bent and twisted, that would normally have water in them to put out the fire, but with the water elemental gone, they are empty of water.

With a satisfied flourish, Roderick pulls the last of the manacles from the injured man's body. He nods silently to Elara as she takes the injured man away. He moves to the doorway, seeing Adran fighting the fire. He shouts above the roaring of the flames, "I'm going to see what else I can find in here. Let me know if the flames are making too much progress, we should get out of here soon." Turning, he resumes his search of the room, looking for signs of magical items or other items of interest.

Perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (4) + 12 = 16 Had a 24 before if that one hasn't been used up yet, as the prone, battered elfavian isn't too hard to find. :)

The fire on the top of the ship is being pushed back by concerted effort and much coughing by those up top.

The fire on the second level is being held in abbeyance by the single construct down there.

The fire on the third level is burning uncontrolled, consuming more and more of the cargo.

As people start moving and fighting the fire Rory does the same. Gliding to the nearest fire himself he works out a way to slow them. He looked for a shovel or something close to it.

Gathering the dorjes and healer's kits into his bag, Roderick leaves the smaller room and checks the condition of the deck below, staying at the top of the stairs. Rushing about a ship in the process of burning to the ground is certainly not one of my better ideas.

Probably a couple rounds of actions. Trying to assess how bad the bottom deck is and if I can get down to have a quick poke around before it's completely consumed.

Sorry for the delays everyone, I slept for 14 hours straight last night. I'm going to speed things up a bit. The ship is pretty much lost. You stopped the fire on top, but the lower hold was all but burned up already. So it's a write off, it won't fly again.

The party works hard trying to save the ship, and manage to stop the ship from being burned to cinders, but it won't fly again. The lower hold is a total write off. Between the explosions from the elementals escaping and the fire and the crashing into the trees, there's nothing left of the bottom of the ship. It'll never fly again. However, they manage to save the upper deck and part of the middle deck. Besides what Roderick has already found, they find the following...

Roderick scowls at the burning wreckage of the ship in between swigs from his canteen. Soot blackened and feeling scorched, he sidles up alongside Alys as she calls for Connor and studies the halfling who he'd helped to rescue from the flames. He replies offhandedly to Adraniel, "I imagine the bruised halfling is Flick, though I've not the slightest idea why he's called that. I take it you know him from somewhere?"

Don't think I can identify the dorjes for now. I'll hand them off to Connor to look at when we have a moment.

Hearing Alys, Connor turns his attention away from the fire and the constructs. "A lousy thing, to lose a ship, now we all have to listen to Rory berate us. And our real ship is still locked up in the city. Smoke in my eyes, too." he muttered to himself.

"Hey, Rory! Any longboats or dingys attached? Is the wood first-generation or second-generation? Can any of this stuff fly?" Connor called out as he walked slowly across the deck. Going around Roderick and Adran, Connor said "What, we saved a lizardman?" He had to peer around Alys' form. "Oh. A Halvavian? No, Halfling?" Connor asked. (Keeping the "12")

Alys already told Connor it's Flick, with that hint, he can recognize the halvavian through all the bruises and scars

The two dingy's on the main deck are Elemental Wood, meaning they can float on their own.

Flick needs to be healed to wake up. Long term healing as well to recover from the scars and beatings.

Roderick scowls at the prone halfling as his healing tattoo takes effect but the man doesn't stir. He reaches his arm out again and taps another tattoo, and then another, sending them off to the prone creature. He touches them one after another, giving a moment for the halfling to stir before touching the other.

That should be another 6 to bring him to +1 HP. Try not to sneeze too hard.

Roderick shrugs off Connor's surprise as he steps back to make room near the wounded man, "My psionic elixirs are more than capable of keeping me alive should need be, cousin. For all we know, they might already have informed their friends of the ambush."

Flick is awake now, after being healed, and looks much the worse for wear. It will be several weeks of long term care before he looks even remotely normal, but for now, he's conscious and able to talk and think clearly.
