So psychic magic is coming to pathfinder. The classes I have heard about are the Kineticist and the Medium, probably similar to the warlock and wizard. But what do you want in the book? Of course there will be clases, feats, spells (lots of them, specially if there is no overlap with existing spell lists), archetypes, magical ítems etc.

This is my wishlist:

A fakir-like class, using mind overbody to reduce or negate many attacks and conitions, similar to the Yogi class from 3.5 (from thea Slayers Guide to Rakshasas and Monte's top d20 content). Possibly with a ki pool. Maybe not a martial artist per-se but could be.

No psychic blaster-type beyond the kineticist.

New monsters with psychic magic, even if they are variants (like dragon kineticists, or rakshasa médiums), or templates.

A list of psychic magic spells usable by qiggong monks.

A wild talent feat chain (in the vein of eldritch heritage) to represent x-men like "mutants"

Favored clases bonus for all core races for all new classes.

I also want the kineticist to look like this.

Some kind of telepath/beguiler thing.

Using telekinesis on yourself (who's seen Chronicle??).

Body control feats in this book could turn the Monk & the Ninja into pure awesome.

There should be a crapton of archetypes, templates, feats and prestige classes allowing these options to be woven into the existing classes and monsters. Psychic Succubus... Pyrokinetic Goblins...

Gunslingers who can bend the bullet & using arrows as knife missiles.

Telekinetically augmenting your strikes, great for brawlers & barbarians.

Bards and enchanters using a touch of mind control to boost their abilities. Skalds who can send their enemies mad.

A rage so strong it leaks out of you and carries your enemies along too. Barbarians/Bloodragers whose enemies go mad in combat & lose access to spells/abilities beyond just the killkillkillkillkillkillkillkillkill song they hear pounding through their heads...

Inparting fragments of your own intelligence into items/ACs/familiars to give them limited sentience and autonomy. Your sword becomes your cynical subconscious. There's a Skald Archetype this would work brilliantly for, the one who boosts their allies weapons..

Can you fix that link the Xiao?

I would like psychic magic archetypes for all classes except sorcerer and oracle. As for sorcerer and oracle, I would like a psychic bloodline and psychic mystery.

As for Kineticist:
-I would like types that deal with fire, ice, lightning, air, earth, water, force, and gravity.
-Telekinetic abilities that act like spells such as featherfall, fly, spiderclimb, telekinetic sphere, jump, wall of force, magehand, etc.
-Textile Telekinesis-use highest mental stat for str score.
-Telekinetic jumps- uses highest mental score with dex to jump and always considered having a running start.

I agree a Fakir type class would be cool.

I like the idea od psychic archetypes and templates for monsters as well.

A telepath, maybe one set up kind of like a kineticist. a non-caster character that can spam charm monsters and similar effects all day long

I suspect you meant tactile telekinesis, although being able to supernaturally manipulate cloth and clothing could also be funky. :)

"Ooh, my boots just tripped me. And now I'm all tangled up in my undergarments, which apparently now have not only Improved Grab, but also Constriction. I thought my war dog was safe, being naked and all, but the dude's turban / sash thingie just unwrapped and is attacking like a giant cloth snake!"

Ignoring the classes for a second, I'm hoping we get more mechanics dropped on us that can apply to the game as a whole. Special rules for psychometry, for instance. Psychic dueling, expanding astral projection, etc. etc.

While I'm pumped for classes, I think the optional rules are the things I'm most interested in.

Stuff usable for everyone would indeed be awesome.

Yeah I meant "tactile", man I must have been tired last night.

Well, I was hoping we would get more then one non-caster and Telepath would be interesting as one of those non-caster classes.

Psychic power to replace limbs(and maybe some organs) with psychic energy so they will still function.

A psychic healing class that can use psychic ability to restore lost limbs on one's self at a much earlier level. Can use psychic energy to grant itself fast healing. Maybe it would get a psychic pool that it can use to create effects like lay on hands or channel positive energy.

Making a jedi-like psychic magus would make my day.

Pathfinder Lost Omens, Rulebook Subscriber

Some good investigation rules.

But... the tech guide doesn't have laser swords...

I agree that would be fun.

Magic items for paintings, playing cards, record players/recorders, dice, crystal balls, magician's gear(top hat, trick wand, etc.), Victorian style clothing, sculptures, pottery/vases, monocles, taro cards, etc.

Haunting rules for objects and creatures.

Monsters based on artworks such as paintings.

An archetype for bards that focuses on art like painting and sculpting. Instead of bardic music uses art as a weapons and tools. Can create creatures and objects from artwork such as constructs from sculptures and summoned creatures from paintings. Can use paintings as pocket dimensions and/or teleport effects. Can make things from paintings and drawings real like fabricate and major creation. Can make a wall of paint(or pottery, etc.) or paint enemies to change there moods(rage, calm emotion, sleep, etc.).

Stuff about the Ethereal Plane and adventuring in character's dreams.

A shapechanger class. REAL shapechanging, in every creature or object, for extended periodo of time.
+1 for a wild talent feat chain.
A psychic sorcerer bloodline, and other ways to mix old classes with psychic magic.

I would love to see Paizo take a stab (hehe) at their own version of DSP's Soulknife; being able to create your own weapon has always been a cool concept with me and I'd love to see something like it that wasn't 3rd party.

I'd also really like to see male half-orc eye candy. Seriously. Give us a sexy half-orc guy.

A class that creates weapons (and maybe armor/shields) out of psychic energy. Maybe as a archetype but whatever works.

A psychic animal template(think brain mole) that grants a +14 Int bonus and psychic powers of course.

A psychic creature template for most other creatures.

A haunted template for living creatures, basically haunted by a spirit but given powers as well.

A psychic energy creature or a template that creates a construct(or elemental) out of psychic energy.

Psychic dragons(Astral, Chakra, Dream, Esper, and Spirit), though this would be better for a new hardcover bestiary.

Reprint rules for insanity.

I want them really different from 3.5 psionics.
That's basically all I want.
More spirits and astral projections, less pure telepathy and telekinesis.

We will get telekinesis since we will be getting the Kineticist class and I can't see them not having telepathy somewhere. Though I agree about it being different then psionics and they have already said it will be different;)

Some rules for haunted items instead of just places.

Some stuff about psychology, palm reading, fortune telling, spirit worship, alchemy, astrology, Victorian sciences, steam technology, etc.

More types of Homunculi, including ones that look human and stranger ones.

Kineticist sounds more like human version of poltergeist than classic telekinetic "no spoon" guys. But we will see.

I would like some feat chain to put telekinesis, telepathy and ESP at the reach of all classes. Of course, in a weaker way than focused classes, but being strong in flavor and utility.

I would like to see archetype for the kineticist that gives them sorcerer bloodline powers. I would love a fey blooded telekinetic, or dragon blooded pyrokinetic, or a boreal blooded cryokinetic, etc.. Bloodline feats and bloodline spells as spell like abilities would also be cool, but optional.

They compared the kineticist to characters such as Carry or Firestarter.

Awesome.

A psychic construct creature class feature that functions similar to the animal companion mechanic.

Some stuff related to carnivals, circuses, worlds fairs, freak shows, art galleries, museums, etc.

psychic manifestations of different kinds of insanity.

psychic magic that specifically targets incorporeal creatures.

The effects of psychic magic on animals, plants, people, and locations.

That the Kineticist will have some kind of resistance against whatever energy or force that it controls.

Better editing and quality control, now that GenCon is coming a month early.

Since an incorporeal creature is often pure spirit, without the crunchy outer shell of material flesh and blood and bone, it might be completely appropriate for some forms of attack, such as psychic / telepathic / empathic attacks, or necromantic soul-affecting magic, to cause them extreme harm, compared to souls and spirits that are protected by their solid matter 'armor.' A corporeal creature's soul might 'not have line of effect' to some attacks, but when an incorporeal creature is baring its soul to the cold cruel world, it becomes immune to a lot of stuff that would have damaged its corporeal shell, but also perhaps vulnerable to things that a better-protected soul would be more resistant (or even immune) to, such as raw emotional energy, and perhaps not merely psychically potent emotional energy, but even raw anguish or joy or hate, which somebody who's wearing their soul on the inside might find affecting, but not actually incapacitating or harmful.

Well I think that goes without saying Odraude;)

Well psychic stuff has often been linked to the realms of spirits and ghost;)

3 people marked this as a favorite.

I would also like to see kineticist that can manipulate positive energy, negative energy, spirits/spirit energy, plasma, and time.

A puppet master archetype would be cool, one version that animates objects all day and maybe it can control people's bodies like they were a puppet as well.

I would like an ability for telekinetic focused kineticist and maybe other classes with telekinesis to add the combat maneuvers that are not in the telekinesis spell's description. Basically all the combat maneuvers from the APG.

Maybe a archetype for the spiritualist that is focused on other kinds of spirits then just a undead such as fey, kami, oni, elementals, etc.

Also if a class gets telepathy, how does it interact with a race that already has it or at least has a lesser version like the Lashunta.

Some psychic related alternate racial traits would be cool.

If there is a class that focuses on precognitive abilities it should get a insight bonus on initiative, perception, sense motive, and reflex saves based on wisdom and/or level, uncanny dodge, improved uncanny dodge, and an ability to reroll some skill checks.

well, while I really want a fakir, since psionic magic originated in vudra, there must be one. wishful thinking? hope not.

sex magic,sex cults...I'm joking

I would like to see ritual magic and more planar stuff and. how psychic magic interacts with divine magic and Arcane magic.

In all honesty my one wish is this book never were to be and they just teamed with Dreamscarred and use their material in their products just like they do with Tome of Horrors or the Advanced Bestiary now and then. This "Occult Adventures" has nothing Psionic about it. They remained pretty traditional with everything else except Psionics. I am kinda upset.

It's not psionics, it's psychic. Dreamscarred already created the Psionics rules you want for Pathfinder, what need is there for more of the same?

Spells for detecting/dealing with spirits and haunts.

More specialized summoning spells such as a category for summoning undead(without evil subtype), summoning fey, summoning psychic related creatures, etc.

A racial feat for any race that has limited telepathy to make it telepathy, maybe at 9th level. A feat that grants limited telepathy would also be cool.

More force based spells would be nice.

Magic items that increase the power and range of telepathy, telekinesis, and other psychic powers and spells.

monk and rogue ATs/options for psionic augments

NO WIZARD PSIONICS THEYRE POWERFUL ENOUGH ALREADY

The telekinetic ability to stop multiple ranged weapons like arrows, bullets, shurikens, etc. and maybe a single large range weapon like a boulder or siege engine based weapon.

Magical and/or cursed board games like in the movie Jumanji. Some magical chess sets would also be interesting.

This won't be in the playtest I'm sure, but I'd love to see some of what we had in the ACG - Archtypes and Feats that allow Psychic toys to be used by older classes; or at least a Psychic Bloodline or Mystery.

The other thing, and I would have no idea how to do this in PF, is something akin to the Arcane casters from Rolemaster. They had their magic split into 3 main areas - Essence (PF Arcane), Channeling (PF Divine) and Mental (PF Psychic). Then you had the Arcane - they could cast magic from each type, albeit learned slower; then a small select group that they could cast easily. Everyone else had access to those but were really difficult to learn magic.

A class like that would be really cool. Mentally I've slotted in the Magister from RGG as the "Arcane caster" in my world to cover this some.

The other things I would really like to see - the Playtest! :D I'm jonesing.

Are we saying Psychic and Psionics are not the same? That's really stretching it. I just don't understand how "Psychic Magic" (which is just...either redundant or an oxymoron) is supposed to mesh with "Psionics"? I can imagine the technicality debates:

"Oh he's a psion."
"No, no, he uses psychic magic to perform kinetic abilities."
"So he's a wizard that specializes in telekinetic spells?"
"No, no his magic is only used for anything you can think of a kineticist performing."
"Why didn't you just play a Psion with the Psychokinetic Discipline?"
"Because Paizo doesn't have psionics, so I wanted something close. Even if it means I still gotta use somatic, verbal and material components."
"That's not psychic...that's just a specialist wizard again."

And so on.

If we're melding psionics and magic together now, Paizo might as well mesh arcane and divine casting together, too. Wizard-healer types. Yay.

Awful lot of assumptions in your posts here, Barachiel. Maybe this post will help?

Yeah...Psychic magic will be a different system than Psionics, and I assume their will be no shared class names or rule systems

Shadow Lodge

A class specialized in at will telekinesis, which could weild weapons with the mind, move rifles on the air, and at very high levels, do things like lifting houses or dematerialize people. There was a prc on 3.5 but failed hardly in reaching this concept, unseen hand

I would like to see the spiritualist(or maybe an archetype) get the ability to add the ghost touch property to all weapons, armor, and shields the character is using. Maybe as a high level ability that is always active.

This seems to be a heavily player-oriented wishlist thread, but since I think there's already an overflow of toys for players to play with, and at the same time a low amount of fluff/story-enhancing rules, I hope to see rules that will help in building occult, ghostly and otherworldly atmospheres.
Also, things like places that empower incorporeal Undead, locations where great tragedies took place, leaving residual psychic energy from strong negative emotions (such as mansions where a murderer butchered his whole family, temples where brutal sacrifices where practiced, halls of torture, etc.). And ancient Ghosts grown by relinquishing in those feelings, perhaps born and bond to that same kind of places.

Anything that can be used by a PC, can be used by a DM, though it doesn't work that well the other way around.

The wait is killing me, I wish they would tell us what all 6 classes will be called and when the playtest will be.

Well, it's not being designed to mesh with it. Psionics are a third-party property. Psychic Magic is a Paizo project. Many games don't allow third-party material, including PFS, so there's no overlap there. And the majority of Paizo's material doesn't make use of third-party class materials, so it's not like you'll be seeing Psions and Soulknives and Wilders and such popping up in Paizo APs or anything. The only third-party stuff they tend to make major use of is monsters.

Groups that use DSP's stuff are being left on their own to decide how Psychic Magic and Psionics interact, as their individual GMs prefer.

The Witch and the White Mage archetype for the Arcanist already both do this.
