Will the short story by Ed be in the Deep Magic book?

It sure will! Check out the $87,000 goal on the the Goal Scroll!

Liberty's Edge

Anyone else thinking "I wonder how long it'd take to make 200 kickstarter + amazon accounts"? (Not that I would ever do that, or condone such, besides being expensive it would be dishonest. But still, it is something to think about.)

Hmm, well kobold fans - I've just had a little chat with Wolfgang and he's decided that if the Illusions of the Rakshasa is funded he'll let me write it in return for me letting him out of my cellar.

Ah, but will he give you back your clothes?

The Exchange Contributor; Publisher, Kobold Press; RPG Superstar Judge

Here we see the fine art of negotiation in action.

The cellar's nice and all, but Pett's clothes are disturbing me. Almost as if they were .... Watching.

Every time he sends me down to the cellar for a bottle of claret, I wind up publishing more Pett. You'd think I would learn.

Ha! Of course the consequences for Wolfgang could be extremely unpleasant if we don't quite make it, but annoyingly he might just escape...

Liberty's Edge

Less than $100 to go before we hit the $120,000 goal and Dwarven Ring and Reaver Magic gets added to the book!

AND, only 150 backers or so to make the World Serpent Adventure Path a reality!

4 hours to go ...

$120,000.00 goal achieved!

That's brilliant news.... I really hope we can hit that AP, that'll be amazing.

I Doubt the AP will make. A shame too cause I would love to see it make as well.. I think it's just too many people require in the time left.

Liberty's Edge

Pish posh! Only 138 new backers to go and 3 hours remain!

We can do it!!!!!

Here's to hoping the ap makes!

115 minutes to go and 125 more contributors to get the AP. We can still hit it.

The Exchange Contributor; Publisher, Kobold Press; RPG Superstar Judge

I am not sure the AP will hit it, but if not, I certainly intend to revisit the idea. But AFTER the Deep Magic project is off to press.

It's added the Reaver Dwarf spells. The Rakshasa are not far behind. Need a few more backers in the next 2 hours.

Here's hoping we see an AP kickstarter in 6 months to a year from now. Assuming we don't get it now. *crosses fingers*

Less than 20 minutes left. We are close we need a few more people.

The $125,000.00 goal was reached.

The final total is $126,031 due to a surge of last minute backers and one very monetarily (and now magically) mighty Master of Spell and Seal at the topmost tier. All announced stretch goals related to the Deep Magic book were met. The only goal missed was for the World Serpent AP, but that's happening anyway, just not accelerated by Deep Magic.

Congratulations to the Kobold Press team on a very successful Kickstarter project!

(... and in a distant less busy future, if you decide to kickstart the World Serpent AP, I for one would be happy to be a backer!)

Congrats ^_^

So... when can we expect such a book? Dec 2013?

Congrats mighty kobolds!

Big congratz!

Deep Magic is gonna be AWESOME!!!! (imagine that being said by Barney Stinson and it sounds even better :)

Very happy I got into the Kickstarter within the last few days. I still wish I had made it into Christina Stiles' Lycanthrope one though.

Can we expect weekly progress updates?

Yes, I took yesterday off, I have shipping and contracting to handle this weekend, but there will be a weekly update on the project.

My current planis for either Tuesday or Saturdays. Tuesdays are good.

Dot for updates ^_^

I suspect the work load was more than would allow for weekly updates. Just my guess, I don't have any affiliation with Kobold Press.

There is LOTS of very cool stuff going on 'behind the scenes' right now :) Most of the art is in and the few remaining pieces are due in soon ... and there is a LOT of really awesome, top quality art for this book! I can't tell you how many times I've thought 'Ooh, I can't wait for people to see this one!' when a new illustration comes in!

Bottom line - I think this is going to be a visually stunning book!

I'm happy to say that the weekly updates have been happening, even during Gen Con. They just are happening over on the Deep Magic site for the backers. It seems like a more natural fit for a people most invested in the project (pun totally intended).

Which is not to say that I could not provide some level of monthly or bi-weekly updates here as well, or on the Kobold Press blog.

Hm. Maybe a blog post about the new druid stuff. Or the new antipaladin stuff. Or the new aboleth magic, blood magic, and clockwork magic, just to cover A, B, and C.

It's coming together really, really well.

Uh, did I miss a link or invite for that site? Because I backed, and can't recall seeing any message to that effect? My KS ID is:

Spoiler:
Timothy H. Ott - e-mail address Ott_timothy@yahoo.com (for KS & 'official life') or changer@yesssmail.at (for pretty much everything 'private life')

If you are a backer, the Kickstarter project sends emails to everywhere when a new update goes up. It's possible to opt out of all those notifications, of course, which sometimes makes sense if you are backing a lot of projects.

Easiest thing to do, though, is just to go to the Deep Magic Kickstarter page and click on "Updates". That gets you to this Deep Magic Updates page. Some updates are public, some are backer-only. You should see them all.

Let me know if that doesn't work for any reason!

AH, ok, so you mean the updates on the KS site itself. And here I was thinking you meant a whole new "insider-only" website full of goodies for backers... Jetzt verstehe ich ;)
Thanks!

Is there a "New Paths: The Expanded White Necromancer" out there somewhere? Because I want it.

Hey there DungeonmasterCal!

Very nice to see love for the White Necromancer! There will indeed be a New Paths: The Expanded White Necromancer! It's not out yet, but it's been written, edited and, if I'm not mistaken, is in the final development phase. If I had to guess, I'd say it should be out in a month or two :)

Just as a tease (I seem to be doing that a lot in this thread :) The Expanded White Necromancer has additional spells and a couple archetypes which I'm very happy with. One in particular I think is pretty interesting ...

** spoiler omitted **

OK, back on topic!

Much requested, add-ons are now LIVE on the Kickstarter!

SKWEEEE!!!!! Sorry, when I read your spoiler I turned momentarily into a teen girl. Now I can't wait for the White Necromancer...along with a bunch of other stuff that just seems over the horizon this summer.

Just a quick heads up that the The White Necromancer will be released very soon:)

There's also a ton going on with the editing/development side, too. We're in the process of handing over text for layout, for example. When all is said and done, I think the level of awesome content on all fronts is going to be astounding!

The Exchange Contributor; Publisher, Kobold Press; RPG Superstar Judge

Indeed. Also, some small updates:

* About half the book is through development and editing. We're cutting a few items of duplication and continuing to focus on the big New Spells chapter, but bloodlines, new magic options, archetypes, and other items are all in layout.
* Super Genius Owen delivered some cool expansion to the blood magic section
* Looks like we'll have an announcement on the introduction soon
* Collecting backer names has gotten us about half the names so far. Reminder will go out to backers this week.

I'd say progress is good, and I'll be sharing some sample pages with backers before Halloween.

How's the project coming along? ^_^

Liberty's Edge

Quite well :)

Can't wait for people to get their hands of this book - it's freaking awesome! :)

The Exchange Contributor; Publisher, Kobold Press; RPG Superstar Judge

Yep, posted the interview with Guido Kuip and the druid spell list to the Kobold blog in the last week or two.

Layout looking pretty good, making decisions about paper and the runebound edition silver foil.

I'd say we're in excellent shape, and should have an update on the print book, the Kobold Guide, and the Hero Lab version before the end of the year.

Really nice review of Deep Magic from Neuroglyph over at at ENWorld!

Neuroglyph over at at ENWorld wrote:

The production quality of DEEP MAGIC is exceptional, with top-notch writing from veteran authors and game designers, coupled with a graphical layout that is easy-to-read and stunning to behold. It's clear that the publishers set out to give the reader a luxe experience for their patronage when purchasing the hardbound version of this book.

DEEP MAGIC is one of those supplements that comes along that makes a gamer want to run amok, gathering books and dice to start rolling up a brand new character! And for players who have become jaded with running a spellcaster in too many Pathfinder campaigns, this book is guaranteed to pique the interest those gamers who love a character slinging spells around.

Kobold Press’ DEEP MAGIC Will Revolutionize Your View of Pathfinder RPG Spellcasting… Forever!

The Exchange Contributor; Publisher, Kobold Press; RPG Superstar Judge

Despite the somewhat breathless headline on this, I'm actually really pleased that the book really clicked for this reviewer.

It's far and away the most ambitious thing the kobold crew has done, and I'm proud of the results. It really is meant to kickstart jaded or burnt-out gamers with a big dose of wondrous and shiny and new.

Not to mention, the Hero Lab files will be ready in 30 days, and the iOS reference seems well-received as well.

How far along is the Android version, if I may ask?

The Exchange Contributor; Publisher, Kobold Press; RPG Superstar Judge

It's in testing (on as many devices/flavors as we could get our hands on), but there are issues still to work out.

We're looking at a July release right now.
