Everyone is doing good considering. Se had leukemia and had kidney problems as well. A year ago she fell and never rehabbed correctly. Mst of us look at it as a good thing as she is relaxed and at peace now.

Garith - no one else has spoken up saying they want the cloak of resistance, so can you put under Mael's name for the time being? He'd like to wear it. Oracles don't get great saves and his primary stat isn't a 'save' stat, so he's hurting on saves. Of course if someone else needs it more, he'll gladly relinquish it and wait for something else down the line that might come up.


Variel, again - sorry for your loss, I hope that your family is doing better. I am glad it sounds like your family is at peace.

As for gear -

I guess Ryu is looking for a Scabbard of Keen Edge for the scimitar.

And - if possible - a magical scimitar?

I am back and everything went as well as it could be. We stayed in a hotel so my daughter enjoyed the pool and made a mini vacation out of it. Family is doing good all things considering. Ready to a get back to the game.

Maelchar, anyone can make use of a Cloak of Resistance, but looking at saves, I have no issue with you taking it - Zeriax's are actually half decent as they are.

There will be wands of cure light available given the war effort. Other wands may or may not be available as you will have to roll to find out though. As strange as it seems there is a half elf witch who is the wand maker, her name is Sunera.

I am hoping to move along tomorrow night so please finish with purchases and Zeriax can give a know local to reduce the chance of an encounter. Where are you leading Zeriax?

Healer's kits are ahuge waste of money compared to a wand of CLW. Check out the rules it's rather silly...

So what about Ryu and Garith joining in on the wand?


For healing yes, but the healer's kit provides bonuses to disease and poison for heal checks. They have their place still.

Yeah, that's exactly my perspective - there's a lot of stuff that can be done with a healer's kit, which will not work with the wand.

I am still chipping in for the wand though ;)

I stopped with the spoiler on my actions so you can see what the rolls are. I figure it is only going to get more complicated as we go on so you seeing what the results are will help for damage.

Case in point is Garith right now. If he fails the Command save and falls prone that will mean a claw and bite will hit instead of just the claw.

IT is going to be very important to keep your status bar updated with HP so people can see what is happening to you with all of the spells and buffs affecting things. Thanks again in advance.

wow one hell of a vicious combat for a gang of level 3s there...


Hey guys, letting you know I made a mistake in the combat. When I had the dretches summon other dretches I read the stat block as 35% miss chance akin to spell failure for armor. It is the other way around and only a 35% chance for success. As such I am removing the dretches on the bottom half of the chasm. I am not at home to update the map but letting you know now in case it affects your actions.

I purchased the second book this morning and wow. I can't put it down.

It starts off with a bang fulfilling Pakak's and Garith's wishes as you get to lead an army to take over Dwarven citadel. Can't wait for you to get to the second book.

On that note as well, start thinking about 4th level as once you finish with the Tower you have only 1 more encounter till you level up.

Samantha I was thinking about the combat as I actually combined 3 random encounters into this area as each random encounter was going to be too easy. I thought y guys could handle it and so far that has proven the case. I still feel bad about you being nauseated though in your first encounter and me botting you at that.

Garith I found the rules for retraining and am reading them now. What in particular were you thinking about for retraining? I am not keen already on retraining whole class levels or entire archetypes. Individual class abilities, feats, and skill points I may consider pending the time and reason for it. That being said, since this campaign is set up as a a crusade and war effort, there is not a lot of downtime that I can see thus far.

Exceptions will be considered if we loose a member of the group and feel the need for someone to take over some area that is lacking or the new recruit does not have the same skill set as the old character. Ie Pakak leaves and is replaced by a sorcerer and knowledge skills are adjusted to be covered by others in the group.

The timing issue is a good point for casters who may think about taking crafting feats. There is limited downtime for crafting. This is not to say that you should not still take them if you want as being able to customize items is a big benefit later on. I am just letting you kow that it is not like kingmaker where you can have months of downtime between adventuring.

Hey all –

I’m writing this to say goodbye and explain my absence from the game.

Unfortunately I was accused of intentionally doing things to adjust the coding in the game to affect the dice rolls in a recent post. The GM did not believe my explanation as to why this happened. We’ve communicated over PM over the past few days regarding this, but he has not changed his mind.

Therefore I will no longer be playing anymore in either of his games.

I was informed that finding a replacement for me should not be a problem, so hopefully my absence will not compromise the game too much in the interim that I’m gone.

Meanwhile, I will miss playing with you all, and I hope that you enjoy playing the campaigns to their conclusion.

I wish I could be there with you, but I guess it’s not meant to be.

I hope you all enjoy the game, and send those demons shrieking back to hell!


(Sigh) well, gang you can read the post above for yourself and draw your own conclusions. In the meantime I will continue with the campaign tomorrow as I adjust the combat a bit since you are losing a front line fighter.

Please think of what you want as a replacement character and I will post a recruitment thread tomorrow for both campaigns.

Already posted my opinion about this on our other game.

As far as recruiting I think we may need a frontliner - let's see: we've got Garith and Maelchar - that makes two, but may not be enough.

Samantha can hold her own in a scuffle, so that makes 3 effective melees. Hmmmm... Maybe we don't need another frontliner after all - Not sure here to be honest :D

We've lost a combined healer/melee with Ori, and now a front liner with Ryu... We have arcane covered, though another character with a little more offensive power in that area wouldn't hurt, Samantha and Zeriax with the scale take the healing pressure off Maelchar so he can fight as a frontliner, still another frontliner wouldn't hurt, or maybe someone who can combine those powers, like a magus? We have ranged covered with Zeriax... so really we could take just about anything at this point. Ramble ramble ramble...(sorry)

The things I don't think we're really in need of are a bard (we have inspiration), ranger (we haven't needed any tracking) or rogue (We have Zeriax).

On a side note, I really have come to dislike gunslingers, alchemists and a synthesist summoners. The former two because they tend to get min-maxed and played munchkin-y... the last because it's SO errata'd they might as well have just re-written the entire class, and it gets so badly abused... so if we don't see any of those, I won't complain... ;) but if we get one, I'll keep my mouth shut.

Anyway... I guess what I'm saying is we could use just about anything else in the party, and be happy with the choice. Let's see what comes about in a recruitment thread.

After clearing the safe house you will be level 4. Only 1 more demon and 5 thugs to worry about for now plus whatever you may find. Had to give you something climatic to get to 4th level.

while we don't need more inspire courage, per say, it'd be need to have a trickster for the party, lets us hit all the mythic paths.
