Do you know, it's almost deja vu how Oriana's looks/colouring is in direct contrast to So'rien and Maelchar ... in RL it isn't a far stretch for me and my cousins. lol

I keep looking at your respective avatars and you could be true, blood brothers. :)

Good domain, subdomain of 'Friendship' :

Friendship
Associated Domain: Good.

Replacement Power: The following granted power replaces the touch of good power of the Good domain.

Powerful Bond (Su): You can communicate telepathically with a single ally within 60 feet. The telepathic link lasts for 1 minute and requires a shared language. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Wisdom modifier.

Replacement Domain Spells: 2nd—shield other, 5th—telepathic bond

sad thing about the friendship subdomain is that it doesn't have a 1st lvl spell, so you'd still use protection from evil as your associated 1st lvl spell, that sucks.

but then that is only for touch of divinity - for you inquisitor domain, getting telepathy is awesome!

I'm still unsure about it because I do like the Protection Against Evil. I will think on it, though the telepathy did appeal, tbh.

Well if you take 'good' as your touched by divinity domain you'd still get protection from evil 1x/day

and then you can take friendship for your inquisitor domain and get the associated power, just not the spells.

Hey Zeru Twins, and Maelchar... Are all your angleic blood from a Parent?

Maelchar's father was an Angelic being, but i don't remember for the Zeru. Was it a parent or an ancestor? For Garith, he manifested Angelic blood from an ancestor, his family having long produced Aasimar, though fewer lately and fewer still showing directly angelic traits.

He could theoretically be related as angels are sortof immortal... so where'd the Zeru's angel-kinship come from?

True - Yriel, Maelchar's father, could have been the source of the angelic blood in the Zeru line from generations ago, you never know - still making them half-siblings in a way... lol... unless they have an angelic parent directly.

I believe it is an Ancestor in the Zeru line -- though So'rien and I haven't nutted out our backstory as yet due to work commitments. As soon as we figure it out, we'll put it on the board. Sorry I can't give you a more definitive answer as yet.

oh - Oriana & So'rien - I noticed your skill bonuses for being aasimar are the base bonuses - but you chose to be an angelkin, and they have Heal & Knowledge (planes) as their skill bonuses rather than perception and diplomacy... you might want to make note of that on your sheet

excelent well! Perhaps there were two children of the angel in our line, a boy and a girl. They boy's took and passed along the Zeru name maintaining strong angelic manifestations and being blessed by the Goddess through the generations, perhaps even strengthening the bloodline through other's of celestial blood joining the family.

The girl, on the other hand took her husband's name and it was from that branch that Garith of the Mordrand family was born, one of the first to exhibit any celestial heritage, let alone the direct Angelic nature of his ancestor. So distant cousins. I figure the Angel would be a realy poerful sort to have it's direct line exhibit such strong heritage?

I like the two angelic children: one boy and one girl, storyline very much.

I can go with the Zeru being the male name passed along and that Garith came from the female angel line and is a distant cousin.

And yes, if there has been this many manifestations of the angel blood line, the originally angel/s would have been quite powerful indeed.

So'rien, Maelchar, Garith:

Paladin (Human): Danele Zeru (mother) had been a great sword mistress, following in the footsteps of her beloved goddess, Iomedae.
Cleric (Human): Luken Zeru (father) had been a priest of The Church of Iomedae.

With other devout Iomedaeans, the Zerus were Holy Knights who fought in the Mendevian Crusades, doing battle with the demons of the Worldwound.

They instilled in their angel-blooded twins (and adopted angel-blooded son, Maelchar) a deep-seeded sense of righteous valor, justice, and honor, which was only strengthened by the potent celestial blood flowing through their respective veins. So'rien and Oriana were raised among the clergy and champions of the goddess, as was their adopted sibling, Maelchar. Oriana was the youngest (as fate would have it, by mere minutes), yet like her mother and maternal ancestors before her, she had a natural affinity with the sword and her dedication to Iomedae was true, choosing to honor the goddess by chasing down enemies of the faith and researching emerging threats. She was cunning and resourceful and her faith never faltered.

Her beloved twin, a brother, was her opposite, and completed her. So'rien was extraordinarily social, magnetic in his charm and presence, a powerful personality, only enhanced by his angelic, breathtaking beauty. Oriana was quieter, stronger, reserved, with a highly acute intuition and sensibility. A different kind of force of nature. She rarely smiled, portraying a fierce visage to the world. She was very loyal to her family and cause, and that honed determination was reflected in her piercing, golden eyes. Her physical beauty was no less than So'rien's, just not as profoundly highlighted by a pleasing outward demeanour. She had her fair share of suitors, yet she rarely had time to dally with infatuations and courtly politics.

The angelic blood was said to have come through a male angel ancestor, generations long, by the name of Izar Zeru. The Zeru line was potent and produced numerous Aasimar descendants; of which So'rien and Oriana were the only twin angel-blooded offspring -- a rarity even among the Aasimars. This was seen as a sign by Danele and Luken, that Iomedae had bestowed a great honor upon their family for their unfaltering dedication throughout all the years.

---------------------------------------------------

Okay, this is what I have so far. So'rien, are you okay with this? Did you want to make one of them a Sword Knight? Danele? I just wanted to get something down in relation to the Zeru twins. Feel free to add to or discard other parts. Thanks.

So'rien: Are Danele and Luken still alive? If so, they would be old -- possibly in their late 80's? They may have even lost their lives in the later crusades?

Dain haven't seen you on here for a bit. You still with us on this!

Hey, I'm sorry for the lack of posting lately. There's a lot of new material to cover in the new book; on top of that the meds I've been taking for that stupid injury have kind of left me feeling a bit woozy and have been somewhat problematic for me (headaches, dizziness, sleepiness and upset stomach).

Anyhow, that combined with some of the problems I've had to go through with legal since it was work related and other issues have been distracting me a bit.

I'd like to get something up for this game soon; but I'm afraid it may take me a bit longer just to deal with the stuff.

I'm hoping to have something this Friday by the latest, though.

Sorry for any delays.

My current concept is a paladin "gun tank"; specifically so I can do smiting damage at range. I have a pretty good idea about the design, but I'm open to any suggestions.

I figure if I'm able to effect demons and hell knights at range with touch attack smite weapons, that could be useful; plus I'm able to "Lay on Hands" and possibly Channel when I get up there.

But that's all been on the back-burner, because I'm still trying to marry this with the Hero/Epic rules stuff and I've barely had a chance to read through it.

If anyone has any suggestions or pointers for me - please let me know, I'm open to them.

Talk to you all soon...

Dain, just to let you know, smite in general is not limited to melee weapons so even a regular paladin can smite with ranged weapons.

Also Dain, as I told you there are currently no firearms built into the AP at all. Nothing makes mention of them and no one has any either. That is something that I can alter but realize ahead of time that you may not find items that you want for your character exactly. Much akin to Shackles and never finding an item that you wanted thus requiring to make everything. Also i mentioned above that there is only a couple of days built in to the AP as down time and that brings you to 6th level.

A fellow paladin would always be welcome.

Looking at the archetypes, it would slow your Pali progression, which usualy isn't often beneficial, but one level of Mysterious stranger, (and pistolero, if you wanna stack it on too) will give the Lv1 deeds, Deadeye, plus Cha+2 for grit (amature gunslinger becomes extra grit if a character takes Gunslinger Levels)

Stranger gets Focused Aim which may stack with Smiting shot (which takes no action). Then at Pali 11 (lv 12). You get another Deed and theoreticaly Cha again to total grit (not daily start but max).

You only have light armor, but with ony really needing to focus on Dex/Cha you should be able to rock decent AC and saves, plus LoH as a swift action for self-healz, and Channeling for the group. If the synergy works, the build should be pretty solid

EDIT
If you don't have time to fix your weapon and upgrade it, that could be a problem. Regular smite adds to accuracy and isn't only good for a single shot, and as So'rien mentioned, it would work for a gun if you took Amature slinger as a normal feat too

So'rien thanks for the clarification on the deep sight feat. Also Thanks Maelchar for catching the skill bonus for being angel-kin.

A general question to the folk on here: Would it better if Oriana went for the 'Inquisitions' archetype rather than straight Inquisitor or no? She would select an inquisition in place of a domain. Something like Conversion Inquisition or Justice Inquisition for eg.

Well, Conversion Inquisition would make you into a pretty good Face cause you use Wis as opposed to Cha for social skills, so while Oriana isn't exactly going to stand out in the crowd, her thoughtout and measured words have a much greater affect on those who hear.

and a 1/day dominate is always fun, even if it's only for a minute. but i like conversion anyway

Campaign Traits as per Player's Guide:

Chance Encounter
Child of the Crusade
Exposed to Awfulness
Riftwarden Orphan
Stolen Fury
Touched by Divinity

Traits explained:
Chance Encounter: You always tended to get in over your
head as a child, but your biggest youthful misadventure
was the time you “accidentally” found yourself behind
enemy lines in the Worldwound. You probably never
would have made it back home to Kenabres if not for the
help of a mysterious woman who helped you trick your
way through a group of cultists. The woman never told
you her name, but you remember her beauty and a deep
sense of sadness she seemed to carry with her. Her skill
with the bow was impressive as well, but the thing you
remember most about her was the symbol of Desna she
wore—she often held onto it without seeming to realize
it, as if the connection to the goddess was something she
clung to in a sense of need, as someone might clutch at
a rope while dangling over a vast pit. She left your side
a few moments before you were picked up by a patrol of
crusaders, who finished the job of escorting you back to
safety, and you’ve never seen her again. Ever since, you’ve
just been lucky when it comes to trickery. Once per day,
if you fail an Acrobatics, Bluff, Disguise, Sleight of Hand,
or Stealth check, you may immediately reroll that check
as a free action. You must take the second result, even
if it is worse. Associated Mythic Path: Trickster. Multiple
Characters: You and other characters were all saved by the
same mysterious woman in your childhood. This could
have been the same event, or she could have saved you on
separate occasions—the discovery that someone else was
saved by the mysterious stranger has resulted in a long
friendship (or perhaps friendly rivalry) with the others
she rescued.

Child of the Crusade: Your parents were members of
the crusade, as were their parents before them. (If you
are an elf, gnome, or other long-lived race, these could
be brothers or cousins instead, since it’s possible that
the Worldwound simply didn’t exist at a time before
you were born.) The righteousness of the crusades
sometimes feels as if it runs in your very blood, and
it bolsters you against demonic inf luence. Your
parents may be alive still, or they may have perished
on a mission—that choice is up to you. You grew up
knowing them, though, and their zeal and devotion to
the crusade is the primary reason you feel the same way.
They’ve told you of other family members who have also
been involved in the crusade, and it’s not uncommon
for you to meet a distant cousin or long-lost aunt, uncle,
or other family member while traveling among the
border towns of Mendev. This strong family tie bolsters
your mind and sense of belonging to the crusade. Once
per day when you fail a saving throw against an effect
created by a demon that would possess or incapacitate
you mentally, you may immediately reroll that saving
throw as a free action. You must take the second result,
even if it is worse. Associated Mythic Path: Marshal.
Multiple Characters: If other characters take this trait,
you should all be related—you can be siblings,
cousins, or even more distant relations, but you
should all be aware of this shared lineage.

Exposed to Awfulness: When you were
a child, you were nearly slain by a demon
that managed to make its way through the
wardstones into the lands beyond. The
demon was slain before it could kill
you, but you lingered at death’s
door in a coma for weeks
before waking. Ever since
then, you’ve been
unusually hale
and hearty, as if
your body had
endured its brush
with awfulness
by becoming
supernaturally fit. But
still, the scars (whether
physical or purely mental) of
your brush with death remain,
and nightmares of what could
have happened often plague
your sleep. Something,
be it your own
personal force of
will, some strange
“infection” from the
assault, or perhaps
a combination of
both, has made
you stronger than
before. You’re not
sure what to make of
the theories that you
survived this exposure
to awfulness because
you yourself have
some trace of demonic
heritage that helped
give you the advantage
you needed to survive—
but whatever it was, you’re
glad for it! Your strange resistance to demonic attacks
persists to this day. Once per day when you fail a saving
throw against an effect created by a demon that would
kill or physically incapacitate you, you can immediately
reroll that saving throw as a free action. You must take
the second result, even if it is worse. Associated Mythic
Path: Guardian. Multiple Characters: You and any others
with this trait are related, if only distantly. You could be
siblings or cousins—a condition that perhaps lends
some credence to the theory that all of you share
more than just a common bloodline.

Riftwarden Orphan: You bear a strange
birthmark on your body—something you’ve
learned is the Sign of the Seeker’s Spiral, a
rune associated with the secret society known
as the Riftwardens. You have researched this
rune, and have learned that the mark
sometimes appears on the children of
Riftwardens who have been exposed
to particularly strange planar
energies. Unfortunately, you never
knew your parents, for you were
raised by a foster family in
Kenabres. Your foster family has conf irmed
that both of your parents were Riftwardens,
and has further conf irmed that your parents
went missing on a secret mission into the
Worldwound less than a month after you
were born. You’re not sure what happened to
them, but you’re certain they’re dead—and
your gut tells you that the one who murdered
them yet lives! In any event, you’ve long felt
magic in your blood, and casting spells comes
easily to you. You gain a +2 trait bonus on all
concentration checks. Associated Mythic Path:
Archmage. Multiple Characters: You should be
siblings with any other character that takes this
trait, so that you share the same missing parents.
Your parents could even be foster parents.

Stolen Fury: You were forced to take part in a
demonic ritual as a youth after having been captured
by cultists. Whatever the ritual’s purpose may have
been, it didn’t work out the way your captors
envisioned—rather than corrupting your soul,
you absorbed the ritual’s energy and made it your own
before you escaped to safety. Ever since, you’ve been
haunted by strange nightmares about the ritual, and
have long felt that the energies it bathed you in have
changed you. Recently, those energies have changed—
it’s as if you’ve finally managed to come to terms with
your past and have turned the ritual’s aftereffects to
your advantage, following the old adage of what doesn’t
kill you makes you stronger. You’ve been unable to learn
more about the ritual or what it was for, but the question
lingers in the back of your head to this day. This
nagging has instilled in you a fury against demonkind.
Today, when you face demons in combat, those energies
bolster your fury, granting you a +2 trait bonus on all
combat maneuver checks against demons. Associated
Mythic Path: Champion. Multiple Characters: You and any
other PC who takes this trait were all part of the same
ritual, and it was only by working together that you
managed to escape—further, the support of your fellow
ritual survivors has played a key role in your coming to
terms with it, and you retain a close bond of friendship
(or perhaps a friendly rivalry) to this day.

Touched by Divinity: As long as you can remember,
you’ve had an unexplainable interest in one deity in
particular. One of your parents may have been a priest
of this deity, or you may have been an orphan raised
by the church, but these alone cannot explain your
deep connection to the faith. You’ve always felt calm
and at ease in places holy to the deity, and often have
dreams about the god or goddess visiting you—most
often in the form of a sacred animal or creature. Your
faith is strong, even if you don’t happen to be a divine
spellcaster—if you are a divine spellcaster, you should
be a worshiper of this deity. You begin play with a silver
holy symbol of your chosen deity for free. In addition,
choose one domain associated with your chosen deity.
You gain the use of that domain’s 1st-level domain spell
as a spell-like ability usable once per day (CL equals
your character level). Associated Mythic Path: Hierophant.
Multiple Characters: If other characters choose this trait,
you should all work together to decide what deity you’re
associated with—it should be the same deity shared by
all of you. You might even share the same dreams.

Variel, it would not let me view the map in google doc without requesting permission, so I have.

It should let you now. I forgot to allow all for viewing. My bad. Still working out the kinks.

Since we're a pretty heavy Melee party, there's a Trait, Inspiring Rush that lets me give a +1 to attack and damage rolls on a charge attack to myself and all allys until my next turn. So if you think we'll have opportunity to charge together, I can have that trait to give a +1 to atk & Dmg.

Ya'll want to teamwork like that?

Had I known, I would have.

Perhaps next combat; but we shall see what happens after this one.

Up to you if you want to take the trait - not sure what the usage of it might be in the campaign - but like you say, we are martial heavy so it might get some use.

Wish it was more than 1x/day but still could be useful

I didn't do it with this charge, if i took the trait, but if you guys want to try to coordinate, It'll be sweet, and I'll finaliz my selection and start using that ability. Plus Ori could take Coordinated Charge as a feat and wiht the Inquisitors's solo-tactics use it as if I had the Feat and Charge with me for an extra +3 to attack and +1 to damage.

I'm just not in love with most of the traits i see, and i like how this one tastes (flavor)
