Yes indeed ... I like the sort of wizard who thinks of all his party members as minions to be buffed up and fired at the enemy. I have just such a wizard in a Crimson Throne game at the moment - 4th level and yet to deal a single point of damage :)

That said - sometimes it just does you good to rain down firey destruction on someone who deserves it ;)

Hey, I never said blasting was BAD :p

I enjoy a good mix on my wizards, useally tha goes to 1 single target spell, 1 aoe damage spell, and several control and debuff spells.
Intensified rime snowball is one of my favourit or just a rime flurry of snowballs can work wonders in a tight situation.

Silver Crusade RPG Superstar 2013 Top 8

I love playing clerics and other support characters, but sometimes I like playing a simple beatstick.

Why not have both melee and blaster in one awesome class?

Decided to roll a Tattoo Draconic Sorceress with the rolls I made. Yea, they weren't all that hype, but I'm willing to go full rolls for this.

So, how are we going to balance this? Will a high roller be accepted over a low roller?

Great question!

At heart, I'm a story-teller. So I want to see what stats people get, and what they come up with. I'm less worries about balancing stats than I am about finding characters with interesting stories to tell (and making sure that we have a diverse array of classes).

Consider the Fellowship of the Ring. Merry and Pippin clearly don't have stats anywhere near those of Aragorn, but they are integral to the story because of the things they do, who they are, and the choices they make

Lol great analogy! They clearly have more Dex and Climb (Ent) than him though! :D

Heh. Climb (Ent). Nice.

Dark Archive

Background info complete! Character sheet is pretty much done too, will be filling in the gear she carries soon.

I, personally, am loving the spread of characters being put up. So many cool and interesting characters!

I am very glad to hear that! I only rolled 17 PB, so went with the 20 PB. Even if my fellow players get 30 PB or something, I don't mind. Everyone's a team after all. :)

So, I see you said no to Occult Adventures. What about Ultimate Intrigue? Is that going to be allowed at all?

Well that's good, thanks GM. I'm gonna stick to my guns and keep the rolls I made. Back story should be done soon.

You forget all their cooking bonuses and feats

first and second breakfast....

I do not have access to Ultimate Intrigue or time to delve into most of it. But Vigilante is ok

Okay. Work was...hellacious. I pulled about 30 hours over the weekend. But, beer and the wondrous inability to fall asleep until about 4 AM every day has allowed me to peruse all of the submissions!

If you have the crunch done but don't have a 10 minute background, I just glanced at it. When the 10 minute background is up I'll give them my full attention.

I PM'd a bunch of people questions. If I didn't PM you, then all that means is I have a pretty clear idea of your character from what you already have listed :)

:)

Yep, weekend work sucks! I've been at my job for almost a decadeand the first 2 years I did not get a weekend off unless I personally requested it. Looks like it might be a thing again in the next few months as me and several other people are opening a game store.

To say nothing of their quite legendary ability to draw aggro :)

Sometimes having moral support is better then any magi, the dices like it :D

2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 2) + 6 = 10
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 2) + 6 = 12
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 5) + 6 = 17
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 4) + 6 = 12
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 5) + 6 = 13
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 6) + 6 = 15

Hmm. I think I have an idea for this.

Selaros Teskarova wrote:

Especially if said moral support comes with a +1 bonus to Attack & Damage rolls. :)

Here it is, HOORAY!!! Hope you like it.

Concept
1.) Sizma is a young Varisian woman of around twenty-two. Her parents, proud magic users of the old arts, had been killed by an Orcish raiding party. Life without her parents has been tough, but she has remained positive as to keep herself going.
2.) The backstory sort of follows the “Family Ties” trait, but I’ve opted for her being full Varisian as to make more sense for her Varisian Tattoo archetype bloodline. Since birth she has had the tattoos adorning her body, and as her power started to manifest, the more uneasy and worried she has become. She has gone to Sandpoint to try and get back together with another caravan.
3.) Jovial and often easy going, Sizma personifies that nomadic stereotype of her culture. She loves to explore and meet new friends. Part of this is to distract her from the daunting feeling of unease that she has for her powers.
4.) The Infernal bloodline sometimes flares up at times, sending perverse and evil thoughts through her mind. She has done good to control it, but often times the unpredictable nature of it is too much for her mind to handle, leaving her rather weak.
Goals
1.) One day, Sizma would like to gain control of her magical prowess and quell the rebellious and volatile nature that lay inside her. Better yet, how she even acquired them.
2.) Sizma would like to one day settle down and have a proper family. This is only to come however after her first goal has been dealt with.
Secrets
Known.) She doesn’t like to talk about the magic that she possesses much. For fear of being looked down upon, she rarely uses her magic ability, only for emergencies.
Kept.) Her Infernal bloodline stems from her father’s dealings with the Whore Queen Ardad Lili. Before she was born, her mother was unable conceive child. Angered at fate, he made a secret contract to the demigoddess to enable her conception.
Friends and Allies
Roberta Sinclair- A Taldoran women in her late 70’s that agreed to house Sizma during her stay in Sandpoint. An old friend of her mother, Roberta is a kind elderly woman of a positive demeanor.
Nikolai Flamenco- Nikolai is a Varisian man in his mid-twenties. He was one of the Sczarini family members that she had stayed with before being run out by local authorities. He is impulsive and free spirited and is a staunch protector of his family, this includes Sizma.
Kenny Shirn- A rather pompous man, Kenny was a one-time fling of Sizma’s while staying near his small village. Sizma had been enraptured by him, but as time went on was pushed away by his controlling attitude and cruel temper. When the Sczarini left, Sizma did as well, leaving him without even a warning. He resents this and vowed one day to make her pay.
Memories
1.) While sleeping one night, she felt a strange pain arise from her back. In a great flash, a black cat appeared before her. This was the first time she met Blake, her familiar and faithful traveling companion.
2.) After running through the woods for a good half hour, the sudden realization that her parents were not behind her hit her young mind hard. Their deaths have followed her for some time now.
Notes
Overall the main goal is to have her accept the power within her and grow to full potential. Every once in a while, the more Infernal parts of her bloodline will arise, causing her to otherwise shut down socially as she tries to deal with controlling it.

Cool 10 minute background Sizma!

indeed! I concur

Very nice Sizma!

10 minutes backstory in spades. Hope to see everyone on the frontline! Outta be a blast with some of the awesome stories I'm seeing :3 hope I get in!

5 key points:

- Part of a tribe that followed a redeemed Black dragon. Taught the Lizardfolk who joined in an alliance with it to follow the father Dragon Apsu in order to teach them the ways of good and for it to learn Leadership as per the god's wishes.
- Tribe and leader was wiped out by a red dragon following Dahak, the evil dragon god's wishes. Survived with only a few others who now all wander to do as they should for Apsu.
- A normally peaceful creature, he speaks calmly and respectfully as he was taught to be by the scion of his clan(taught to out of fear of disrespecting the black dragon and sending him on a rampage), but when in combat he tosses all that aside to fight like a true dragon with teeth and claws.
- Zealous against the evil God's, especially Dahak to the point of recklessness to prove himself. Is very fond of Iomadae and Sarenrae and Torag. Much like his diety, the only evil God he's respectful to is Asmodeus due to his help against Rovagug.

goals:

- To become more dragonlike or at least be worthy of such in order to be closer to what his whole life has been about.
- Dahak's plan for Seczandevisader(the black dragon) was more than just to slay the traitor. Is former teacher has been risen as an undead as a form of punishment and torture for the dragon for trying to turn good.

Secrets:

- He still harbors some distrust for humans from what they did to his people before he was born and when he was young. They always grow hostile from how he looks and is and it makes him wary of what they'll do in fear/lack of understanding
- He does not know that he's clan was not the only one choosen by Apsu. Other lizardfolk have recently been called up as well and should he prove himself worthy, his goal of being half-dragon might not be so farfetched. Only age and time will tell.

Character ties:

- Seczandevisader, the black dragon who taught Varak's tribe all of the teaching of Apsu and the history of dragons. Despite his young age, pain from his own mother taught him to distrust chromatics and Dahak's followers. Apsu had attempted to teach the dragon of his history and of leadership with the Lizardfolk, only to make him a target. The black hopes his surviving students, will find him to set his spirit free.
- Riza Suur was another survivor and Varak's sister. Having taken the full mantle of Cleric, she has traveled off with Drazzat in order to find more followers of their God to aid in the hunt for the red.
- Drazzat Wrede, a survivor from a different clutch that Varak or Riza went the path of a Paladin in Apsu's name. He his more ready for vengeance and as the master of the shield and spear, volunteered to accompany Yatscha further from their home to seek allies and justice.

Memories:

- Varak remembers the first time he saw his teacher. The large black dragon rising from the swampy waters. He stood behind his mother as the warriors took their positions, standing firm while the creature rose tall over his clansmen. Nobody moved in the tense standoff, fearing to invoke the breath of acid that would melt the scales from their bones. Only when the the black greeted them calmly did any take a breath.
- The first time Varak ever felt the guiding hand of his diety was with his sister. The two had been practicing for hours to draw upon the divine magic and it was his sister who had managed it first. She held the accomplishment over his head for a moment or two, and it was when he was about to give up that he felt it surge out. He'd later describe it as if he had heard a voice telling him never stop exploring what could be a beautiful path.
- Varak would always remember the fire. The smell of burning wood and flesh. The screams of his people now and again being drowned out by the roars of clashing dragons. He'd remember the sight of flames beneath the water, lightly it up brightly while acid splashed at the surface. He could never rise to breath where he dove, seemiing always narrowing escaping a painful end.

6 + 2d6 ⇒ 6 + (2, 2) = 10
6 + 2d6 ⇒ 6 + (4, 1) = 11
6 + 2d6 ⇒ 6 + (4, 1) = 11
6 + 2d6 ⇒ 6 + (1, 4) = 11
6 + 2d6 ⇒ 6 + (3, 3) = 12

Wow ok, looks like a 20 point buy for me. I'm all for playing flawed characters but I don't think I could make anything out of those rolls.

Can I assume an unchained Rogue is allowed? I've wanted to try one out and haven't Had a chance yet.

Unchained is all kosher

One computer crash later, I'm finally finished, I think.

2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 6) + 6 = 13
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 1) + 6 = 8
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 3) + 6 = 13
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 1) + 6 = 11
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 2) + 6 = 13
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 5) + 6 = 13
Well. Not great. Have to say.
Looks like a 20pt buy for me.

Just checking that you are ok with an Oread, Saurian Shaman Druid with 20 str?

Ten-Minute Background:

1) Florin is a shepherd from the area Northeast of Sandpoint. Giants at one point smashed several halfling hovels for their enjoyment, this killed Florin’s mother and father. His uncle took him in and they built defenses meant to deter giants from traveling to close to the remaining halfling village. Florin suffers from post-traumatic stress having lost his parents and is hyper-vigilant and ready to react to danger at a moment’s notice. After the events that took his parents’ lives he has recently felt magic flow through his body. He does not have any formal training in magic and hides this from his Uncle. Because of the growing threat of giants and not wanting to be an internal risk to his remaining family member and neighbors he sets off to Sandpoint.

2) Florin wants to see giant humanoids that are preying on the weak be put to death, particularly the giants that smashed his hovel. He has no patience for mauraders or brigands. Florin also wants to discover the truth about his source of magic. He is particularly curious about why his skin grows armored scales after he conjures certain magic.

3) Secret Florin knows: Though only now experiencing magic flowing through his body he had always been able to detect magic. There was always something locked away under his parents’ bed but he never had the courage to look. After the attack, the small chest containing the item was found smashed and whatever inside it gone…

Secret Florin doesn’t know: He is a descedant of Geltri the Small. Geltri was legendary sorcerer adventurer and on his final quest hunted a Linnorm. Upon finding and fighting the creature with his companions he lashed out with his magic and struck the killing blow. He was immediately overcome by the linnorm’s death curse and fell comatose, barely holding on. The king that had tasked the group to hunt the linnorm called in several powerful shaman living on the frindges of his holdings. They channeled their restorative energies through the halfling’s body for weeks until finally Geltri reawakened. The taint of the linnorn never left him though and now it has manifested in Florin’s magical bloodline.

4) Relations: See above for Florin’s ancestor. He also has an uncle who helped raise him and taught him to protect areas from giants. After arriving at Sandpoint and wanting to claim the Hagfish prize he has spent several weeks at different taverns and inns. He has become enamored with Ameiko. His enemy is the giant’s tribal leader. He has no idea what his name is or who he is but if he senses the magic item that was stolen from his hovel he’ll know who he is looking for.

5) Memories: Florin remembers traveling to Sandpoint as a young child and spending the night in the cathedral there because they couldn’t afford lodging. His sleep was filled with nightmares until his father woke him up, shivering as if had been experiencing the same thing.

He also remembers seeing his mother through the hovel’s window holding and examining a small white sash. It almost glistened without needing light. Perhaps this was the magic item?…

Finally he remembers his uncle defending the flock from wolves waving a spear he lit on fire. He fought off a pack of 10 wolves for an hour without losing one sheep.

Quick-bio: Florin Herdsmith is a jittery halfling that has spent the last few weeks in Sandpoint eyeballing the prize purse at The Hagfish. He’s not necessarily a glutton for punishment but he needs the gold for magic scrolls and gear. The giants that are roaming the lands are top of mind for him and he plans on taking them down one by one…somehow. Sitting in The Rusty Dragon his mind wanders from the dangers of the wilderness to Ameiko, whose beauty captivates the young sorcerer. Florin grew up with not too many friends but he’s beginning to think that if he wants to rid the world of giant marauders he may need some help…

Why thank you all. I've realized I've kind of made a variant Seoni appearance wise, but I'm okay with that.

Hello I wanted to throw Kittery's hat in the ring. I have never had the chance to play through Rise of the Runelords, other than a character that only made it to the first day if the Swallowtail Festival before the game collapsed.

I tweaked this entry from another recruitment and am happy to make adjustments.

I think in true old school fashion the character I make will depend on the die rolls...have a couple of ideas though.
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 5) + 6 = 16
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 5) + 6 = 17
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 5) + 6 = 16
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 3) + 6 = 11
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 4) + 6 = 14
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 3) + 6 = 13

So far the only one with Student of Faith XD and the weirdest character of the bunch. I like it :3

Had to correct a few things. I noticed some out of place and missing and was too late to edit XD all better now

Goals:

- To become more dragonlike or at least be worthy of such in order to be closer to what his whole life has been about.
- Even if Varak is not able to become half or full dragon, he hopes to gain in strength and wisdom to be called upon by Apsu when the great dragon war begins. It is destined for Apsu and Dahak to clash in a great battle and Varak hopes he can aid the metallic dragons in this battle.

Secrets:

- (known) He still harbors some distrust for humans from what they did to his people before he was born and when he was young. They always grow hostile from how he looks and is and it makes him wary of what they'll do in fear/lack of understanding
- (unknown) He does not know that his clan was not the only one choosen by Apsu. Other lizardfolk have recently been called up as well and should he prove himself worthy, his goal of being half-dragon might not be so farfetched. Only age and time will tell.
- (unknown) Dahak's plan for Seczandevisader(the black dragon) was more than just to slay the traitor. Is former teacher has been risen as an Ravener as a form of punishment and torture for the dragon for trying to do good. Varak has yet to learn this and the redeemed black hopes to be found and freed by his remaining students.
