Mazon uses her read magic spell to find out the scrolls hold bless, magic weapon, ghostbane dirge, and resist energy. "Well, these scrolls would have come in handy with that last fight." Turning her attention to the sarcophagus, she tries to figure out why it has a magical aura. K(arcana): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27

Watching yalk claim the weapon and the rest of the party exploring and trying to see what was going on a smile touched his lips. He regarded the sarcophagus with a frown on his features as he saw the frustration of Belvica. It was out of his league and knowledge so he remained silent for the time being, letting the rest do what they do best.

Tugo asks Mazon, "Do you think any of them might help with my afflictions? Or Belvica's?" He refers to the hallucinations, as well as the cursed items.

After a long quiet minute Mazon rises from her studies. The sarcophogus has a faint necromancy upon it. It will allow someone to speak with dead. The corpse must be inside the sarcophogus and the image on the outside answers questions.

"That's interesting." Mazon says. She explains what she discovered. "Any of the dead people here we would like to talk to or should we just use the stone to report our findings?" Do we know how heavy this sarcophagus is? I'm assuming it is too heavy to take back with us.

"I think it's only polite to introduce ourselves, Mazon, maybe the deceased knows how to lift our curses..." Tugo is really rather single-minded at the moment.

Core Helms ! Wizards Wanted Gameday X

The party has horses, but no cart. These things have been transported before but it is not something any one person can carry.

Magic strength aside of course :) A weight is not listed in the scenario. It is not listed under 'treasure' either.

Make a DC 712 save or die!
(Just kidding :)
The sarcophagus contains a mummified corpse. The notebook given to you by Amenepheous allows you to translate the man's name as Halmrat. This comes from the book in the shrine and lists question and answers sessions from his time as court librarian for the Song Pharaoh. More than that will take a linguistics check DC 25.

Tugo is unfortunately not able to find any information on curses. The records are all from the time of the [Song] Pharaoe. A time before the Pharaoe of [Plagues] turned Osiria into a land of curses.

Going from memory here, I might have the [Pharoes] wrong. If you (ooc you) know the correct info please share :)

If Belvica knew more about ancient Osirion she might realize the fashion is from centuries ago, but it is otherwise unremarkable.

There is nothing else left to discover here, unless the party wants to question any of the dead. So unless you wish to choose any specific corpse, we can move on. As Mazon has declared she is ready, I will begin the conversation with Amenopheous. Any one who would like to can use speak with dead (3 questions) any of the corpses in the meantime.

Mazon grips the stone and cracks it in half. The amethyst glows warmly as she speaks the message and Amenopheus answers excitedly. "don't resist," he finishes and soon Mazon feels a powerful magic touch her mind. It stays for several minutes.

Within the hour a slight popping sound echoes in the chamber and the scrolls rattle with a blast of air. Amenopheus has teleported in with a couple of scribes.

All are excited by scrolls and the history they contain, but the former Venture Captain can't contain his excitement about the jewels for long. "Please. Show me what you have found."

Scarab Sages

Female Half-Orc Witch/2 | AC 12 T 10 FF 12 | HP 14/14 | F +3 R +3 W +5 | Init +4 | Perc +3(+5 when familiar is nearby)

Mazon reaches into her pack and shows him the jewels. Then she shows him the room that the jewels were originally in, followed by the haunted obelisk and the sarcophagus.

Core Helms ! Wizards Wanted Gameday X

At first Sapphire Sage bemoans the loss of the jewel, but he quickly realizes that the shards hold a glimmer of magic and may still contain several of the Ruby Sage’s memories. In the grand room, near the corpses Amenopheus uses his magic to contact the spirit of the Ruby Sage, who briefly animates her nearby corpse and restores it to how she must have appeared in life. updated map

"Thank you. For putting my colleague to rest." The Ruby sage answers what questions she can. Through the gem, she has maintained a limited degree of awareness, and that until only day before, the topaz and emerald jewels sat on this table alongside her. When the thief handled one of her shards, she was able to read his thoughts before he discarded the fragment and fled. She identifies the thief as a man named Kafar, who had intentions of delivering the jewels to the Diamond Sage in a region known as the Pillars of the Sun. A site in eastern Osirion where the Jeweled sages once built their sanctuary.

"The Diamond Sage?" Amenopheus exclaims. "Why gather the jewels there? Why not find new candidates for the gems?" The Ruby Sage agrees this is odd, but she does not share his concern about the Society. "They jewels may be in the hands of known enemies of the Pathfinders," he laments.

The two will answer any other questions the party has if they can.

in anticipation of one question... :)
The Ruby Sage turns to Tugo. "When Qadira began its purge of the Jeweled Sages, this fortress had been abandoned due to changing trade routes and a lack of resources. It made an ideal place for me and the Emerald and Topaz Sages to go to ground. We hid here, sustained indefinitely by our magic. Gradually, isolation with no end in sight wore at our minds and drove us to internecine conflict. An outburst of violence left the Topaz Sage dead, me slain with my jewel shattered, and the Emerald Sage crippled. As despair and madness set in, the surviving sage—the Sage of Plagues—elected to take his own life before his thoughts could corrupt the gem’s memories. Despite this selfless act in a moment of lucidity, his spirit lingered afterward. It tapped the emerald’s power to sow the ruins with curses that changed over time and at the whims of the spirits. "

Amenopheus has one remove curse prepared and he can use the found scroll to remove one other. There are several curses active at the moment however. I will get those and other conditions tallied as I begin creating chronicle sheets. Please ask questions of the sages in the meantime. :)

Can he do restoration on me to restore my wisdom? and can Mazon do her spellcraftiness on the ring

Core Helms ! Wizards Wanted Gameday X

Amenepheous's remove curse is the only spell called out on his prepared list (though he had means to scry and teleport). However their was a wand of lesser restoration in the fountain, that should cover the drain. FWIW that restoration is the only thing to keep the elemental from gaining a curse like everything else in this place. Mazon might be able to get the apearant identification of the ring, but since it is cursed, you already know it to be a ring of truthfulness.

Mazon has a cursed stone, Belvica has a cursed ring, Tugo has a cursed belt and been cursed by the obelisk of the Ancients. Did I miss any?

Three folks have contracted a disease from the plague zombies. It will take a few days (1d4) for the symptoms to show. The cure is X number of consecutive saves. It deals constitution damage and can kill you. It also means your save will suffer the longer the disease goes on. Most diseases just go away between scenarios, (you heal 1 per day). But this one will have to be rolled (or one can buy a cure disease. If that sounds scary don't worry too much it is a CR 1 disease. For now why don't I have everyone roll four Fort saves. If we hit X success before the symptoms even show it might be a moot point.

as an aside. The sarcophogus provides useful information on the Scarab seekers. From the first pathfinder corpse discovered it is possible to learn her name is Asha Sandwalker. Asha was Ven Lorovox’s protégé. The two of them discovered Thanien examining the bodies of the Jeweled Sages and their gems and confronted him their mission’s real goals. They were caught off guard when the spirit of the Emerald Sage manifested, entrancing them with its maddening babble. It struck Ven with a curse, which enabled Asha to regain her senses and drag her companion back to the entry hall. The allip pursued, and a stray spell shattered a pillar that crushed Asha—but not before she could shove Ven out of the way. He stumbled into storeroom, and the last Asha heard was the pained scream of her companion.

Amenepheos happily helps out the pathfinders who have returned something to him lost long before his current lifetime. He removes the Memory curse from the halfling which also allows him to remove the belt. With the scroll he is able to remove the ring of truth from Belvica. She doesn't lie so hardly notices the difference. The wand found in the fountain restores her sanity, and may have even improved her pronunciations. "That is all I can do," he says looking at the witch apologetically.

"The the Diamond Sage’s actions are not typical for one of us and that causes me concern. The Ruby Sage says. " I offer my her power—mythic power—to you if you are willing to chase down concern. Find this thief Kafar, reclaim the stolen jewels, and find the Diamond Sage to learn what she intends." With that said, her corpse slumps and returns to its desiccated form.

Tugo's luck doesn't improve much. In 3 days time he becomes sick. The plague zombie's touch continues to weaken him. Con: 1d2 ⇒ 1
Everyone else that needed to, Belvica & Waylander recover before the disease fully sets in. Three choices Tugo: 1. roll fort saves until you get the required saves (losing con each time it fails) fail enough and your con will reach zero (true dead) 2. pay for remove disease as soon as you are back in Eto or another city. 3. some combination of the two. the choice is yours.

He was left to finish refilling the group’s waterskins and then began tampering with the carving on the east wall, prompting the water elemental to attack. I am going to offer my shirt reroll to Tugo. As I am the GM I did verify the shirt in question exists and is being worn to promote PFS: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12 I fear without it Tugo will be lost! The rolls keep going down from there and this will stop it after only two Con damage. The con damage will return over the course of the 'indeterminate time between scenarios.'

Belvica found Rosarra Springdale's corpse at the bottom of the chasm (female halfling). Rosarra fell to her death from the bridge near the obelisk. She was examining the obelisk when the haunt activated. Confused by the visions and terrified of the spirits, she blindly stumbled into the chasm.

No need to go out of your way, Tugo can buy a scroll of Remove Disease, I just didn't want to if I could help it (they're not cheap). I'm not sure what exactly "[offering your] shirt reroll" entails, but if you only get so many as a GM or whatever, don't worry about it.

Hi all!
My apologies for the thread necro. I said I would GM part 3 after I had a chance to play it & I haven't forgotten. :) I just got into a PbP game for part 3 as a player. We need a couple more folks though.
Are you still interested?
Are you still/now eligible (3-7 upper tier)?
After which I will be able to run it.

Since I am here, I have space in one of my Gameday 4 games. 5, 6, 7th level also. (Traitor's lodge)

I hope all else is going well for you :)
