Core Helms ! Wizards Wanted Gameday X

Mazon looks at the wayfinder and determines it is the normal version of the Society. This one's magic is feeble, the light spell once cast is nearly gone and has dropped to the level of a flickering candle.

The wand is straight black glass with a small angel carved into the top. It contains magic that might prevent evil from possessing a person among other things. protection from evil

The gem has a moderate aura of evocation. It can be commanded to act as a light like a lantern. The light can be focused to blind a target or even multiple targets. gem of brightness

The ring proves the most difficult to determine. At first glance, the tiny carvings--hooks, needles, wires, loops, etc.-- make it appear like a ring of maniacle devices. A ring that helps in the building or defeating of traps. Mazon is not sure though as she can not get the ring off Belvica's finger to get a close enough look. Belvica too, is unable to remove the ring.

Belvica:
This ring compels you to always tell the truth. If you succeed on a Will save you may omit the truth (without lying) or simply not answer. This will be important later and I ask you to RP it (because that is better than GMPC). Besides with your 'accent' it should be for a good moment :)

Mazon is correct about the haunt, something everyone probably had a lesson on during Pathfinder training. It was probably during championship week though. Or maybe the Friday before a 3-day weekend. Though I was referring to a handful of other things I am hoping you intrepid explorers of antiquities and ancient secretes can piece together and discover a 'creative solution' ... :)

Badriyah follows Mazon's lead, but instead of examining the obelisk, she spends the time searching the rest of the cavern for any sign or other object that could be linked to Tugo's visions.

"Destroying the obelisk, may work. Whatever its motives, the haunt wishes us to experience the history and perhaps fall of ancient Osirion." A frown curls her brow as she searches, What does it want us to remember from that period and why?"

She then snaps her fingers and asks, "Amenopheus gave us a notebook with some notes for translating Ancient Osiriani. Perhaps we can use that to translate some of the text on the obelisk or the walls. It may offer us the answer."

The obelisk on the bridge details the history of Osirion. The hieroglyphics are masterfully rendered, and the gems set in the figures’ eyes gleam in the light. The black structure from the vision is not the obelisk, but is mentioned in the stone words. Studying the obelisk, Mazon, Badriyah and anyone else gains a better understanding about Osirion during the Age of Destiny.

+2 bonus when attempting any Knowledge checks about this time.

Badriyah looks closer at the eye gems. She turns to Tugo, "Didn't these eye gems glow when the spirits initially materialized? Perhaps they are what we seek?"

She pulls out her dagger and begins to pry the gems from obelisk. "Here's hoping that removing these doesn't bring back the spirits or trigger some other protective magic. Perhaps everyone should step back a bit just in case." She says with a wry grin.

The gems in the sculpted eyes do not radiate enough magic to be the jewel that the sages wear. Certainly none of them are big enough to be the same as Amenopheus wears. Prying the gems from the heiroglyphics causes no harm to the party, but the markings are damaged in the process. The gems are ruby, emerald, x, and y, the same as those in the main entry hall.

Any one who studied the obelisk, can go back to previous KN (history) checks for a retry. IIRC only the grand entrance got missed. (I mentioned earlier the lack of KN (history) was hurting the group, but lack of linguistics would be more accurate). The next area south requires a perception check. I dinnae remember the DC, but make the check, and we can keep things moving at least a little. I have found a hard copy of the scenario that I should have by tomorrow.

The other end of the chasm room leads to a large arched doorway. The arch around this hallway is covered with detailed carvings depicting the life and accomplishments of a female pharaoh. A charred corpse covered in flecks of glass is visible just inside the hallway.

Perception (DC 20):
Flecks of glass are in a very specific area. The kind of area that might define a trap.

KN (history) (DC 18):
The woman in the carvings is the Song Pharaoh, whose death began the slow decline of the Ancient Osirion dynasties. This also reveals that two aspects of the carving don’t match historical records; the carvings show her defeated by the Pharaoh of Forgotten Plagues, whom she famously overthrew, and her being born in Shiman-Sekh, when she is known to have founded that city.

Darkvision over 40'?:
I also need another perception check for what is inside the next room, but visible from here.

After Belvica and Mazon's warnings Badriyah searches for the trap mechanism. Turning to Sir Willem she says quietly, "I've some skill in working with fine mechanisms and such things. I'll see what I can do." She then does her best to try and disarm the trap.

Tugo is, the mechanics include a –5 penalty on Perception checks and –2 penalty on initiative checks, all creatures more than 10 feet away as having concealment. There is a way to remove it, but that will be harder to discover.... just be glad Lotti can lead you around. The last Pathfinder couldn't see where she was going and fell to the bottom of a 50' chasm!

Badriyah examines the carvings and finds a switch hidden behind one involving the Song Phaeroh's birthplace. Thanks to Mazon's insight she decides to keep looking and finds a second switch hidden under a carving involving her battle with the Sage of Forgotten plagues. With a bit of fiddling she is confident she has both switches in the correct (safe) position.

Nice roll. the history check gave a +5 bonus which is enough to find both switches :)

Squinting past the illusions, Tugo sits up and tries to shake off the emotional toll the encounter with the haunt took. He has Lotti follow Badriyah, but mostly lets the alce griffon lead, as he doesn't trust his eyes.

Breathing a sigh of relief, Badriyah blushes at Ser Willem's praise. "I'm glad to be of help, but I couldn't have done it without Mazon's help." She says softly, but her own quiet humility doesn't erase the smile from her face as she steps quietly through the archway and up toward the table.

Badriyah steps into the glass encrusted area and breaths a sigh of relief when the trap doesn't explode.

Entering the next area. Who else? Also please remind me who has a light source? If I remember correctly Ser Willem's shield is aglow? Please update the map.

This large columned chamber shows signs of past comforts, but an ancient battle scorched the walls and ceiling, and cracked and smashed the floor and columns. The remnants of furniture are scattered against the walls, and piles of bodies are stacked in the sleeping alcoves along the south and west walls. A dais crowned with a great, round table rises from the floor in the south part of the room. Three corpses sit around the table as if in conference, each dressed in fine silk robes. A slight breeze whistles through with a sound like a distant, murmuring voice, but there is no sense or meaning in it. An open hallway to the north leads to a natural cavern. Stairs lead downward in the northeast corner of the room, but were buried in stone when the wall collapsed.

Perception (DC 18):
The sounds of voices carry in from the courtyard area.

He was following the rest of the group, a smile caressing his lips as he listened to them, disarming the trap and seeing Lotti lead Tugo around. He regarded his surroundigs, eyes watching, ears listening but nothing stood of the ordinary.

The corpses were a freakish sight to be sure but they didn't shock him to much for the time being.

Is anyone waiting on me? As the players, you drive the action, but I am not sure what everyone is doing right now (Mazon is studying the magic of the rubies). I am not even sure who has entered the new room and who has stayed in the chasm room. Three corpses sit around the table, (yes, like they were put that way :) a fourth is the apparent victim of the trap (now bypassed). So what is everyone up to? If it is waiting, please say what you are waiting for and I will be happy to fill in what I can.

He regarded the group as they were examining the stones. Then he slowly made his way towards the 3 corpses, caution was in his steps as he wasn't sure what to expect and also for possible extra traps...

Belvica searches the fallen pathfinder and finds his pack holds notes about the ruins and correspondence from the Pathfinder Society leadership. His notes record his suspicions about a trap in the hallway and that he had located a switch to bypass it. In addition, there is a letter bearing the seal of the Decemvirate added to the map, a scarab embossed wayfinder and a scroll.

Taneka finds the three corpses around the table dressed in much, much older clothes. Two show a disturbance on their head where something must have been removed. The third still wears a silver diadem, but the central setting is empty. The ruby shards rest in front of this one.

Mazon's study of the gems pieces reveal a blindingly powerful transmutation aura. R2 Before she gets any further, Tenako whips his head to the face the hall. "Voices," he says. "In the main entrance."

Sorry if I assumed too much about what your character is doing, I need to get the info out to keep us moving.
