Graham and Velas fight off the centipede venom, but Scarlet is not quite so fortunate, and he starts to feel the burn inside -- not in a good way.

Velas attacks the Blue Centipede opposite him, driving his dueling sword at the insect along with a claw from his favorite cantrip. Both attacks score massive damage and the blue centipede curls up and dies.

Quintessa discharges and electrical spell that blasts two centipedes. Green avoids most of the damage, but Yellow is not as lucky and takes the full brunt.

Alvis casts a divine spell that fills the air in front of him with a haunting melody causing sonic damage to those nearby. The auditory effect has somewhat limited damage against the bugs.

The one mitflit in the chamber, who seems to be the tender of the creatures and their eggs, watches the large humans tear through his centipedes, and after a moment's hesitation, he turns and runs from the chamber, descending through a hole in the floor on the east side of the chamber.

Graham growls as the mitflit creature bolts. Damn, we're about to have company. While he would prefer to chase after, he can't expose the group to the remaining centipedes here. He positions himself well to reach both, and starts with Yellow.

Teela is concentrating on remembering what she has heard about giant centipedes and the lack of focus causes her telekinetic attack to fail badly. She does recall that centipedes are venomous, and the poison is generally pretty mild, causing the victim to be dizzy, weary, and light-headed at worst, but not life threatening in most cases.

Scarlet Knight is feeling peaked from the venom, and his elemental power seems to be stifled. He does feel like the venom effect has subsided however, and is no longer poisoned.

Graham moves adjacent to both the bugs, hitting one with a first strike, but missing the second.

Green Centipede steps behind Graham, and attacks from behind. The bug bites Graham once again, but misses the second time. More venom is injected into the fighter and he grunts with the pain of the piercing bite.

Yellow Centipede also makes two bite attacks on Graham. Again, one hits and one misses. Yellow then sidles backwards away from Velas and Scarlet.

Graham is hit twice for 7hp dmg total. He is at 16/30hp, and needs to more DC16 Fort saves vs Poison. SK poison effect is gone with that save. Velas, Alvis, and Quintessa are up to end the round.

(It must succeed at a DC 5 flat check when targeting anyone with an attack, spell, or other effect. If the check fails, they aren't affected. Area effects aren't subject to this flat check.)

Being as the two creatures were so close to each other, Quintessa follows the same motions she did only seconds before. Flicking her wrist she sends another blast of electrical current to arc between them before putting up another protective shield.

I wondered that as well, but I still had to make saves when I reduced my my own damage to zero with a shield block.

Velas draws some magical energy used to attack the previous creature to conjure a shield to protect him, and the magical energy continues to swirl around him as he hops lightly from one foot to the next.

In a flash, he disappears and reappears near Graham with a centipede between them.

Alvis is a bit disappointed at the results of his hymn wondering if this is the path his god wishes him to follow. He changes tactics, lifting his shield and strides besides Graham, taking a swing at the creature before him.

Blinking out and then back in at a new location, Velas gets the drop on Yellow Centipede and is able to finish it with a flourish, even in the cramped space.

Quintessa continues her electrical cantrip, but with just one target this time. The full effect fries a bit of the Green Centipede.

Alvis rolls forward, shield raised, but he cannot hit the slippery insect with his melee attack.

End of Round 2

Yellow is dead, so just Green remains and has taken significant damage. SK's reaction allows Graham to avoid 4hp dmg so he is at 20/30 now.

Bucky moves forward next to Graham, then tries to hit the remaining centipede once again with a treetop-like club in his hand, an elemental blast gifted from the plane of Wood.

The end of the fight with the creatures comes quickly. Alvis looks around as Sir Scarlet calls for healing. Alvis replies, "Maybe, if Abadar so wishes. Gather around me and I'll call forth his boon."

After they gather Alvis prays, "Bring your divine will forth, my lord, so that civilization may arise in those lost lands"

Heal Area: 1d8 ⇒ 3 Heal as 3 actions. 30 foot emanation.

The problem with the area heal is I could roll as low as a 1. A weak 3 points for a few. Not so great.

I look a little worried at Teela, as Graham seems to not be doing well. The armored man moves quickly -- always a bit too quickly for a guy in that much gear -- to stand behind Graham and offer to help keep him upright, without actually suggesting he can't stay upright, thus besmirching his pride.

"Does healing training include poison's cure?"
"Can you and Alvis try ... just to be sure?"

Without waiting to be asked, the Scarlet Knight puts a hand on Graham's shoulder and infuses him with a small amount of healing.

Lay on Hands for 6 HP back to Graham. 1 Focus Point left.

Knowing that his wounds are less grievous than Graham's and that he knows next to nothing when it comes to healing, Velas stays far out of the way and keeps guard for other inhabitants of the tree's underground. "Stay strong, Graham. Alvis and the others will help get that poison out of you."

Teela pulls out her healer kit. "Alright. You, you, and you." she points to Graham, Velas, and Bucky. "Come sit down and I'll take a look."

Graham: 2d8 ⇒ (6, 1) = 7
Velas: 2d8 ⇒ (1, 8) = 9
Bucky: 2d8 ⇒ (5, 2) = 7

Teela then takes 30 minutes to look at, clean up, and stitch the wounds on them. She notices Graham being a little pale and gives him some funky mushrooms and leaves to chew on for a little pick-me-up.

I am using assurance to beat the 15 DC for a basic Treat Wounds, and assurance for a 16 on the Treat Poison stuff. It doesn't cure the poison, but should give Graham a bonus on the next poison roll.


Graham feels slightly dizzy, and as Teela gives him mushrooms to chew which settles his stomach a bit.

Needs anotherDC16 Fort save to see if it progress to stage 2. With the Treat Wounds from Teela, get a +2 bonus on that check. Will adjudicate all the healing after this stabilizes.

Graham stage 1 poison dmg: 1d4 ⇒ 1


The healing prayer from Alvis, and the paladin vitality from Scarlet helps the group. Then, Teela is able to stitch and salve the wounds for the others, thought it does take some time to do so. After she is done, Velas and Scarlet Knight are fully healed.

The Scarlet Knight will draw a crude little picture of a centipede on the wall and stab the drawing several times for 10 minutes as part of his Refocus activity, before or after he's tended to by Teela.

Gosh it's fun being a devotee of Arazni.

Bored of watching the surrounding area, Faen ambles over to the hole that the others had entered. Crouching at the lip of the hole, she cocks her head listening to the noises of the others slowly fade away.

She turns on her heels, looking back at where the horses were tied up. Even from here, it was hard to see them.

She picks up a piece of hardened dirt, and slowly crumbles in into the hole.

It's then she hears the obvious sound of her friends fighting....something.

Frowning, she again looks to the horses...and listens. No horse noises....nothing scary around.

nodding to herself, she climbs down the hole to follow her friends. Pausing she looks left and right, then hears the tell tale sound of Bucky wacking something in devotion to his Patron.

She ambles into the centipede nursery, makes a face of disgust and says, "I heard a ruckus...seems I missed all the fun."

Maybe its the mushrooms from Teela, maybe its just his heroic constitution, or maybe the centipede's poison isn't very virulent, but whatever the case, Graham is able to power through the ill effects, and come out the other side just as Teela finishes stitching up the last bite.

He is fully healed and not afflicted any longer.

With the foes all dead, and the allies patched up, and wtih Faen joining the crew, the room here is full of nests of what you assume are centipede eggs, there is a descending spiral of a tunnel on the far east wall the the lone mite escaped down before. No other passages are visible.

Alvis says, "Treating poison mundanely takes time, I'll stand guard to see if more of these mites choose to attack."

Now

After Teela sure hand takes care of the afflicted and helping a bit while keeping a close watch on the stairway, Alvis speaks, "I like not those stairs, it's perfect for traps and ambush. These mites have a reputation for such and are not noted for being kind. Perhaps someone familiar with traps could tell if there is such trouble ahead?"

The creatures are mitflits also known as mites. They are small version of fey creatures, and as such are mildly weak against cold iron. They are known to be cruel tricksters, pulling pranks that actually cause harm at times. They have some natural magical abilities but only minor things like speak with animals

Teela Bardic Lore: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18


Without darkvision, Velas cannot see down the spiral tunnel, or what he can see, is only more spiral tunnel more precisely. He does not see any threats from his present location, but the light is still surrounding him, not sent down the spiral.

A cold stole my energy, didn't even think about Alvis's darkvision.

Alvis finally thinks about his companions limited vision joins Velas and looks down. He scans looking and listening to note any activity below. If needed, he'll shield his eyes from the light in order to see better. "You can't see anything in that gloom I suppose, Velas, do you hear anything?"


Alvis can see the spiral to the east turns around once and ends entering the room below from the north. There is no light from below, and even with darkvision, the hallway/spiral appears to empty of threats. Listening instead of squinting to see, Velas hears the chittering speech of mites from below along with hushing sounds from time to time. There appear to be more than one voice, though how many exactly is really hard to make out.

Teela looks at Faen. "We're just getting started, I'm sure." She also offers a helpful dose of a mote of light travelling with whoever wishes to have an illuminating experience. She creates five floating orbs and starts juggling with them. "No? No? Yeees?"

"Oh, and if anyone has cold iron... It helps."

Alvis looks over the party saying, "If anyone wishes more healing I can provide, the way ahead will be no easier. Going another way may help but either way expect many tricks, care will be needed. But if you think it a better path, I'm agreeable."

Replying to Teela he says, "No, such special weapons I do not have, maybe we need to gain some if fortune comes our way soon. I pray that happens, though I doubt this den will provide such."

Hale enough, Graham replies with a grin. Felt a little touch-and-go there for a bit, but now I'm...well, not exactly right as rain, but set to press on. Svetlana's ring won't find itself, after all.
