"I think the images drawn here might correspond to the coded secret door we found earlier. Now let's see...we have a human man, then a human woman, then a ram, then a jackal, and finally a falcon. Why don't we go back and press the buttons with the matching heads. That might be the real tomb."
Vanya Kaleth |
"Sorry for not being useful against this thing... unfortunately these undeads are starting to get on my nerves I fear" says Vanya apologetically
Couple of terrible days at work, sorry for not posting
Revvy Bitterleaf |
I'll assume that you follow Zarunkumar's suggestion
Going to the secret door with the puzzle Zarunkumar is able to enter the correct code and the door opens. You can see a wicked axe trap which most likely would have triggered if you entered the wrong order.
Inside you see:
Carvings cover the walls of this otherwise bare chamber.
The stone doors leading further are locked.
Two statues of men with jackal heads stand against the western wall flanking the doors.
identify the statues as representations of Anubis, the Ancient Osirian god of the dead, mummification, and tombs.

"Vanya, do you want to get those doors unlocked and we can continue further in? It seems we are nearing the end of our explorations..."
Belka |
Belka casts a spell (Detect magic) and tries to identify the properties of the mummy's amulet.
Spellcraft check: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
But the magic of the item seems completely mysterious to her.
"Yes," she nods to Sarephta, "sounds like this is the last room of the pyramid". Before Vanya opens the doors, she casts her usual protection spell on herself (Shield).

@Pokey, I might have messed up there. I didn't realize that Belka could have tried to detect magic in the room with the statues since she was looking at the amulet - I sort of assumed she did that when you took the amulet of the mummy and not a few rooms later since in pbp you sometimes catch up a few posts later to things that happened.

I think Zarunkumar would have provoked from casting the cure light wounds if she didn't make a concentration check to cast on the defensive..but since Belka's attack takes down the statue I'll assume that Zarunkumar would have delayed until after Belka's attack for now
With a swing to the legs Belka is able to bring down the last statue..it shatters as it hits the floor.
You can salvage the 2 (non-magical) Kopeshes the statues were using, but other then the door there is nothing of interest in this room to be found.
(feel free to heal, wait out fatique from having raged and prepare and stuff..and then when you are ready just let me know that you are opening the last door in the pyramid)
Sarephta Nigh |
Battle is over, Kaneka, though I'm sure a lot of people would like that roll to heal instead.
"Those statues were tough!" Sarephta says. "I am guessing the strongest guardians were saved for the most important room," she adds.
"We should heal ourselves and them proceed."
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 If Kaneka would rather save her channels for the next battle, I'll use a charge of my wand of CLW...otherwise I won't need to use this. Also, I have four spells I can convert to CLW or save for the last battle if anyone needs healing.
Belka |
When the statue shatters on the floor, Belka ends her berserker state, causing her to appear fatigued during one minute or so.
"Yes", she nods to Sarephta, "and if they were just the gardians, what of the one they were guarding?"
She then asks someone to use her wand of cure light wounds on her and, before opening the last doors, casts a spell on herself (Shield).

If no one needs me to convert spells to healing, I'll cast shield of faith and magic weapon on myself just before we go into the next room.
Revvy Bitterleaf |
I'll assume everyone will enter healed
Pokey uses a charge of his wand again to ensure he has plenty of ammo for the next fight while Sareptha casts shield of faith on her self, while Belka casts a shield in front of her.
You then open the door:
Huge granite slabs form the peaked roof of this chamber, the walls of which are incised with thousands of tiny hieroglyphs.
In the center of the chamber lies an open stone sarcophagus, its granite lid cracked and broken on the floor next to it. A beautifully decorated wooden coffin lies inside, its lid also askew. Four alabaster canopic jars stand like guardians at the foot of the sarcophagus, while various grave goods lie heaped around the walls of chamber.

And the zombie is much faster then normal (it can move and attack on the same round, but unlike most other zombies can be damage by all weapons..not just slashing ones. No reach..but it does have a bite and 2 claws)
