Methuselah 's Price.

Game Master Zombieneighbours

A cyberpunk 20 20 play by post game about the dehumanising effects of extreme wealth, extreme power, and extreme longevity.

This is the recruitment thread from my Cyberpunk 2020 game.

I will post the campaign brief tomorrow.

Color me interested.

Uuh, fo realz? If this is open, count me as another one interested. I doubt I still have the books around, but still... Cyberpunk 2020. sweet.

Wow, 2020. I wonder what the world will be like so far in the future?

Actually we are surprisingly close to having a world like the world of CP2020.

If current tech trends continue, weight well cyberware on a similar level.

Politically out world is becoming uncomfortably like that of CP2020

I suspect we will not see the awesome nineties hair however.

My genetics conspired to make it possible for me to do that, but I could get a wig if that helps

I've never player CP2020, but in a gurps cyperpunk game at a convention we murdered some of our ubiquitous bioroid (android) brothers to use their bodies to cover a heist of a bioweapon. "Creative problem solving" the gm thought.

The real world doesn't seem to embrace the "punk" aesthetic nearly as much as one might hope. OTOH, there are are a darned lot of homeless and free-floating tinkerers/hackers these day...

Silver Crusade

Actually, I have a raspberry pi with touchscreen assembly running off one of those phone charging battery packs. Im going to attach it to my left arm as part of a cosplay ill be building this summer. Is that cyberpunk enough without embedding it in my skin? ;)

I would so be into this, I haven't played cyberpunk in YEARS and it would be a blast if thus could get off the ground :-)

Datafortress 2020 had a large portion available, but I haven't been there in years.

I have almost all the source books and don't mind sharing information (but I will not be making pdfs or copying books for people).

Zombie, I have a few questions:

* Point Build: How many Character Points are we looking at?

* Skill Points: What (if any) Max Rank in skills at start of play? (I generally limit my players to +5 at start to prevent The World's Best Gunman Syndrome)

* Straight Cyberpunk 2020 Lifepath, with all its attendant Skill/Stat magic, I'm assuming?

* Are there any Roles/Special Abilities you don't want to see in the game? (Corporates, for example, are often problematic, as are Netrunners)

* Anything from the Chrome Books available, and if so, what is and is not?

* Anything I missed, here?

Okay, seriously, it's been a couple of weeks since I've seen Zombie around these boards.

Does anyone know him personally? Is a wellness check out of the question?

Folks, it's now been nearly a month since I've seen hide or hair of ZN.

Does anyone know him personally? Can we get someone local to check in?

A few days or weeks off the boards is one thing, a month without a peep or a "I will be gone for a while" post is another entirely.

No, I don't know ZN personally. I do agree a check in would make sense.

I'll go start a thread over in Off Topic, maybe that'll get some attention.

The Exchange

I've an old email address that I've just used to try contacting him. I'll let people know if I get any response.

And he has responded on these boards.

Can I now take this opportunity to register my interest in this game?

Hmmm.......now do I post to say I'm interested or just plot to flick peas at you as you play...... ;)

Zombie - when you get a chance, my questions over in the discussion thread are still, hopefully, valid. :)

No, wait, never mind. They're not in the recruitment thread. They're here:

Hey guys.

Sorry for the scare.

Brain weasel take most of the blame, but epic fail on my part too.

I have hours and hours ahead of me this weekend, so I should get things into shape for play.

Thank you for your patience.

Regards,
Ben

I find flicking peas at Wintergreen to be a good way to deal with brain weasels ;)

Oddly enough, my Cyberpunk game for today (Monday) has been cancelled as multiple players (not meeeee) are at Disneyland. So, you know, can't play if they're being Moused.

Looking forward to seeing the character rules, etc, for this one. :)

Still here! I broke my foot so my other engagements have been delayed.

jemstone wrote:

60pt, with concepts appropriate for a street level game.

jemstone wrote:

Max five sounds pretty reasonable. Again, the aim is for street level characters.

jemstone wrote:

Yeah, straight up CP2020 lifepath

jemstone wrote:

No netrunners. They are replaced by Scripters. Scripters are a varient Techie, who writes codes, and finds exploits rather than does system intrusion.

Basically, it is watch dogs hacking, rather than Neuromancer hacking.

jemstone wrote:

I am pretty open to any equipment being used. The mitigating factor here is money.

jemstone wrote:

No, don't think so.

Awesome.

I'm actually having a bit of a rough time coming up with a character concept (which is highly unusual for me), so later tonight once I'm home from my Champions game, I'm going to roll up a character. Literally.

Everything I pick, from the Role, the Lifepath, all of it until I get to characteristics, will be chosen at random.

This should be interesting.

Much as I want to submit for this I just spread too thin. Good luck to all who apply!

Closing in on the full degree of completion for a character submission.

Doing everything randomly has had interesting consequences. :)

Meet Shavv

OOC stuff:
I did everything on Shavv completely randomly - from gender assignation to choosing a role, everything. Once I started getting personality traits, clothing styles, and the like put together, I was able to sort of jury-rig some character traits onto her, and she eventually started to gel. We'll see how she turns out.

Background:
Background: After moving across the country for nearly a decade, looking for work, for food, and for something resembling a home, the Del Rio Nomad group finally settled in to the decaying suburbia of Seaside, California. Once a thriving community of top earners, the neighborhoods and homes now lay fallow and empty - the perfect location for a group of wanderers looking to lay down roots. The Del Rio's swept in, chased the gangs away from the skeletal streets, and set up shop. Yards were turned into farm plots, fences were knocked down, and a thriving community grew up (and out) from small beginnings.

The only child of Raymond and Carla Frye, Bridget was born into a supportive, thriving extended family - the Del Rio clan gave her and all the other children of their newfound urban-agrarian lifestyle the best they could. Bridget, or Shavv, as she liked to call herself (after a favorite song title of her youth), quickly learned that she could get more done by making friends and connections than she could on her own. A naturally curious and social person, Shavv also learned that snooping into business that wasn't her own could often get her a great deal of information - information that other people might find valuable.

Fast forwarding to her adulthood, Shavv struck out on her own at the age of sixteen, as did all the members of the Del Rio's. After turning eighteen, she attempted to return to her home, where she planned on utilizing her skills at getting people to do what she wants to better the now massive Del Rio compound. Apprehended by SoCal CorpSec on her way back to Seaside, Shavv was in the wrong place at the wrong time - and was jailed for nearly a year for a crime she did not commit.

Unsettled by this, she returned to the Del Rio compound - and was promptly forced to leave due to circumstances she no longer remembers. Four months of her memory have been eradicated from her mind, following a mysterious, and highly circumspect automobile collision.

The hits just kept coming, as while she was attempting to rebuild her life and recover her memory, the one man she had ever loved left both her heart and her apartment empty and cold. Shavv has no idea where he went, or why he left. She would very much like to find out, but doesn't think he'll ever come back - no one who just ghosts out like that ever does. She might kiss him if he came home. She might shoot him.

She hasn't figured that part out, yet.

Most recently, before being told about the untimely demise of Badk!tty, Shavv managed to move several petabytes of data off of a "ghostbox" pirate server and back to its rightful owners, netting her a reasonable amount of cash in the process. Being able to get the right information out of the right people is a great thing.

Appearance:
Appearance: Shavv stands five foot five inches tall, with a slender frame. Her dirty blonde hair is frequently dyed artificial reds (most likely Cherry Kool-Aid or something similar). She prefers to keep her manicure up to date, both to help disguise the carbon-fiber ripper talons installed in her hands, and because she simply enjoys having them well kept. Ethnically Anglo-American, her skin is tanned from long years playing in the sun with Nomad brats, and Shavv long ago had her dull, earthy brown eyes chemically altered to a more "Friendly" green. Shavv wears high fashion (or close to it) clothing, believing that if she looks good and desirable on the outside, people will think she's worth their time - and that will get them to trust her more easily. She has a tattoo on her left hip of a triple-star pattern, that she does not remember getting.

Personality:
Personality:Shavv has often been accused of being the world's largest airhead, but this is almost entirely an act. Although she is naturally bubbly and friendly, Shavv turns these qualities up to eleven when she is not on a job (at which point she becomes all business - she has a reputation to uphold, after all). If she can find a way to use her supposed flighty and free-spirited nature to her advantage - whether it's turning a tense situation into a good one, or attempting to bring an adversary over to her side - she will attempt to take it.

Tactics:
Tactics: Shavv prefers not to fight, if she can, but if pressed will defend herself. A competent hand with a pistol, she is also skilled at hand-to-hand combat, especially where her implanted talons are concerned. If possible, Shavv uses her Redi-Skates to keep herself moving at all times. When mobility is not possible, Shavv knows to keep her head down. She has invested her savings in to ensuring that her regular, fashionable attire is reinforced with reacti-mesh and ReBound armoring technology - enabling her to look good and stay free from bullet holes at the same time.

Still in progress. Made a solo from a low-grade streetgang who got his arm blown off and decided to go corporate instead. Rolling for my occupation money to find out if he can actually afford a cyberlimb:

1d6 ⇒ 4 / 3 =

And if he's still employed:

1d6 ⇒ 1

Two questions:

1. Am I allowed to sell out to a megacorp or do any of the other things under the "Running out of Cash?" section?

2. Do I need to do the randomly generated life events? I wrote out a backstory and character concept before I realized that was a thing. If I've gotta nuke it, I can, but I'd prefer not to

I just rolled everything randomly because I was having trouble with a concept. I don't think ZN is requiring it.

Background:
Jet started out as a sweet little Samoan kid, thrown out on the streets when his parents went out for some newcoke and never came back. He grew up fast and mean, and he grew up big. By the time he was 14, he was six foot, and he was jobbing out as muscle for low-grade street gangs. He met his first boyfriend at 16, and by 18 he and his beaux Rewind were running the underground in their cozy little neighborhood. Jet was the brawn, and grew into a ruthless street-level enforcer. Rewind was the techie, the brains, and the face. They worked hard to maintain their little fiefdom, and to keep their bed comfortable at night.

That all changed when a new girl moved into the block. She was cute, she was clever, she was flirty. Before long, Minx had them both wrapped around her little finger, and Jet and Rewind felt some genuine friction for the first time in their romance. Come to find out they'd both cheated on each other with this girl and things got violent. Jet figured he could take his scrawny ex-boyfriend any day. Jet learned an important lesson: doesn't matter how big you are, getting your arm shot off hurts. Of course, Rewind learned an important lesson, too: if you're gonna throw everything you've built out the window for someone, make sure she's not being paid off by a megacorp to get your gang out of the way.

Stories don't end with the main character bleeding out on his kitchen floor, though. Even in a rough neighborhood that might ignore a domestic dispute going on between two dudes that were known gangbangers, once thirty-four shots go off in an enclosed area, somebody's calling the cops. One person in that shootout got to walk away before they got there. It wasn't Jet, and he took a fall. The apartment was clean, he could reasonably claim self-defense on all the shots fired from his own autopistol and the ragged stump made the judge go a little easier on him. Six months of hard time later and he was all healed up, with a stump, no money, and a dream. He wanted to go corporate.

General Personality:
Jet was an idealist who thought he'd carved out a perfect life for him and his. Having that dashed around him has broken something in him, almost permanently. He still wants to be a showoff, wants to be the big, intimidating guy in the room, but without anyone to trust and share with, that's a mostly empty facade. At this point, he's likely to be pushed into seeking greater and greater thrills and danger to try and fill the emptiness.

Should I slot in those past year things with stuff that's appropriate to his backstory? Gear/Cyber coming once I get an answer about if it's okay to sell out to the corporate world for extra money :B

hey guys, sorry for another brief absense (end of the academic year PWNed me, not to mention Brexit, prepping for interviewing for a place on a BA(hons), and just having discovered my cat has cancer)

Are you going to be accepting players until you have the amount of completed characters posted on here? How many players do you happen to plan on allowing in the game? I am interested in this game. It seems that it will be a bit slower since you are busy often ZN; I am okay with that. Which books do I need to own to play your game: just Cyberpunk 2020 2nd edition, V3, others?

The character's name would be Roger Brennhim. I just created this alias and avatar picture for the game.

Draft of character:

Generated character sheet and generated lifepath - I will probably adjust a bit from this, but it gives me a start and a place for you to tell me where I may need to add or deduct from here, so I can finalize the character.

I'll chime in for ZN in his quietude for now on this one, Roger.

Character details are In This Post. So you're a few points over, here and there, notably in Stats and Skill caps.

ZN is using CP2020 and all Chrome Books, I believe. As we're Street Level, I would expect no ACPA, no FBC cyborg bodies, etc, but then again, ZN himself says "the mitigating factor here is money," so who's to say?

Zombie, you still with us?

Do I have to roust the troops again to find you?

Dark Archive

I'm gonna dot this thread. Been stalking it for awhile. I don't have a cyberpunk book, yet, but I'd consider it if we knew that this was still a thing.
