@Saashaa

Thanks! I've been waiting to play Laurent (and more specifically, a Phantom Thief) for some time.

Together Thad and Laurent can bring the Jhaltero clan to power! ... (assuming Thad isn't bitter that his father toiled for years in their quarries)

After some more thought I actually have another question.

Would you allow a small size tiefling, as per the sidebar in Blood of Fiends? Only difference with a standard tiefling is size.

It would be one of the least envied beings in Cheliax: a halfling-born tiefling.

Should have translated Old Snowbeard according to the presented rules and the AP background. Maybe I will add more fluff over the course of the week, but the basic concept and history is all done.

Presenting Old Snowbeard, an old withered dwarf with a huge, snow white beard, unarmed and unarmored, walking around with a wandering staff which has a big, white crab sitting on the top of it.

The beard is magical and counts as a natural weapon with the grab special ability. He is build to grabble and disable enemies and dropping as many penalties on them as possible to make them weak as a puppy. Has some magic abilities as well (built is based on a witch archetype) for further debuffing and little bit of utility magic. Will multiclass into magus later on - spellfighting with the beard ;-)
So he's a supporter of kind. Able to remove an enemy from the fight, maybe to get information's out of him after the fight. Should be an awesome match for heavy melee hitters and rogues. While locking the enemy, he should be easy to hit as fish in a barrel plus I'll be in the right spot for you to flank the enemy thus enabling sneak attacks from rogues.

@Monsieur Orgon: You may know Old Snowbeard's elven friend. She is a known writer of adventure literature and has a small shop in town selling the odd mixture of herbs, artisian sculptures and her written short stories. Funny how sometime two totally independent backstories just match, isn't it?^^

@Old Snowbeard: Laurent is mostly interested in the genres of chivalric romance and chanson de gest. If Raiku's works are more like paperback fantasy novels, he might find them a little gauche. Of course he could still be familiar with them.

About books:

Well, I imagine them as a cross between our nowadays fantasy novels and the good old hero-fairy tales. The good guy (whether male or female) saves the family/town/country/lover from the BBG/monster/dragon/conspiracy. Living through fantastic adventures while doing so, sometime with a group of fellows, sometimes alone on his/her heroic quest. Something like that mostly.
The books are not those thick paperbacks we have nowadays with 200+ pages but rather short, multi-chapter weekly-or-so journals. You may compare it to nowadays tv series.
So if that meets your preferences you may well be a repetitive guest ;-)

Have read four or five of the finished backgrounds. I must say, wow. Those are some pretty nice characters around here! We make sure to make the GMs decision a really though one, eh?

Going to try and get a character sheet up in the next day or two but I need to go though the entire thread so I don't copy something that's already been put up.

I think I'll be withdrawing Caspan from consideration and instead submitting a witch. Details forthcoming...

Sorry, gonna be working these next few days so it'll be a little hard for me to get my character all finished for this

@Monsieur Orgon Thad would relish the opportunity to be able to work together with Laurent. It is a secret goal that Thad would like the Jhalteros to gain power as well.

I think I'm going to pull out. I don't think I'll have the time to commit to this AP, and don't want to be one of those players who drops.

Background:

Isabelle had always been a problem child, befriending the halfling slaves and treating the hired help is if they were Human. It was enough to give a proper Chelaxian family fits. So when her magical abilities began to manifest themselves her family shipped her off to Egorian to the Academy of Magical Arts there hoping the strict curriculum would curb her rebellious side. It didn't.
While at the Academy she studied all the courses necessary to learn conjuration magic and how to combine it with her innate talents but she lacked the self discipline necessary to successfully summon devils to do her bidding so she instead focused on learning how to magically move herself across short distances and to increase the duration of those creatures she could summon.
After graduating she returned to Kintargo with, much to her parents dismay, the same spirited attitude she left with. Given an ultimatum from her father to shape up or ship out she chose the latter and after withdrawing a small amount of her inheritance she moved into the city proper.
Out from under her parent's thumb she soon met a young bravo named Morgar Manthai and, perhaps to jam that thumb in her parent's eye, the two began dating.
It is for this reason that Isabelle finds herself in Aria Park on this rain soaked morning searching for Morgar in the crowd.

I'll work on your other background points as time permits.

About how much time do we have left? I had an eight-day stretch at work and only recently just got a couple days off I can use to work on Berenice (I've HAD time, but I'm usually away from my house on those days, meaning my only internet access has been from my phone, which I can't really type a character sheet on).

character:
Almena Bleedhart

Female Lawful Good Human Wizard

Hit Dice: (1d6)+4

Hit Points: 10

Initiative: +5

Speed: Walk 30 ft.

AC: 11 (touch 11, flatfooted 10)

Saves: Fortitude: +1, Reflex: +1, Will: +2

Abilities:
STR 10 (+0), DEX 12 (+1), CON 12 (+1), INT 19 (+4), WIS 11 (+0), CHA 14 (+2)

Skills I'm not putting in skills because it would take a lot of time to do so. If you really need them before I get accepted or denied then I'll do it but if not it's just a genuinely safe assumption that I will be putting a lot of skill points in knowledge skills

Feats: Improved Initiative, Toughness

Traits: Child of Kintargo, Fed-Up Citizen.

Reason to protest: Staying up on Current Events

Background:
1) I'd like 5+ points that capture the concept and story of the character. More are welcome, but no less than five.

1: She's a faithful of Iomedae.
2: She's an enchantress and is afraid of the stigma that comes with it.
3: She's a dropout of Lady Docur’s School for Girls and has been.
4: No one knows how her family became the minor nobles they are today, (This information was lost during the Civil War.)
5: She was invited into a small group of wizards and sorcerers, she refused, but did count a number of them as her friends. They have gone missing.
6: She was kidnapped as a child and held for ransom and was rescued by The Order of the Torrent.

2) Two goals that you'd like the character to accomplish in-game.

1: She was invited into a small group of wizards and sorcerers, she refused, but did count a number of them as her friends. They have gone missing, and she wants to find them or at the very least find out what happened to them.

2: She wants to get over her deep-seated fear of intimacy.

3) Two secrets, one the PC keeps to himself, and one kept from the PC. I'll come up with a third that both the character and player aren't aware of, in hopes of shocking surprises within the storytelling.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by this. One secret I keep from the characters and one I keep from the players? or one secret that I share with the characters and one secret that I don't share with the characters?

4) 3-5 people that are tied to your PC by blood, love, rivalry, honor, etc. I'd like at least one enemy in a set of three or four, with no more than two for a set of five. PLEASE consider the players reference guide for ideas.

Cristo Bleedhart: Her father, more focused on the family status then the family.

Misolia Bleedhart: Her mother, loving, but views her as a disappointment and unladylike.

Lady Docur: Almena views her fondly but is unsure how Lady Docur views her, especially since she dropped out

Maralyn: Another student of Lady Docur’s School for Girls who did not like her. Almena is not sure what happened to her after she dropped out.

5) Three key memories that define your character as the person they are at the time of submission.

Her kidnapping and Rescue
Her dropping out of school
Her discovery of her love of magic

6) Finally, I'd like you to include with your submission a fear or paranoia that causes your character to shiver, cower, or panic. Anything from spiders to unexplained happenstance, but I'm sure you'll all come up with some awful stuff on your own.

She has a deep-seated fear of intimacy. Flirtation is fine but physical intimacy terrifies her.

Silver Crusade

Still interested in playing if you'll have me.

This is SnowHeart's submission, Aldren Halfblood, bastard son of one of Kintargo's lesser noble houses and member of a banned faith.

I left a couple of the details/names vague as I don't know if they're already supplied in the AP or if you have some ideas about what would make a good fit. Also happy to adjust based on any suggestions or, if accepted, to better craft some relationships with other PCs.

Got a backstory started. I know you said he won't have his Viglate persona before he joins the Ravens but I felt like he needed a basis. Working on his social identity now.

The Cutoff is this Friday. Then ill post the chosen on Saturday.

Then we will start on that Monday.

So, I have established my social identity as a bartender/waiter in the Redroof/devil's nursery. I would like to use that district as the district I have my reknown in, at least for my social identity.

Alright, Berenice's statistics are completed as far as I can tell. If I've done anything wrong with my math, please let me know so I can correct it. I will now continue my work on her background (funny how these "Ten Minute Background" things always take me over an hour to complete!).

Since Lirana's family works in a tailor/costume shop for artists, she can totally get everyone some vigilante costumes made when it is time for it. :)

I'll submit Halam Sarini. He's a Nature Priest Druid devoted to the Empyreal Lord Shei but even more than that he's devoted to the (poor) people of Kintargo. The crunch isn't done yet.

Background:

Concept and story points
-Born into house Sarini as a nephew to it's matriarch
-Initially looked like a normal baby
-Raised as a Diabolist and Asmodean
-First signs of Tiefling heritage were mild, eyes that shone yellow in the dark and allowed seeing in the dark and slightly pointed ears, and were considered a blessing
-Was trained as an acolyte/altar boy at the temple of Asmodeus
-Transformation started full on at the start of puberty
-Halam hid it all as long as he could but when his skin color started to shift he was caught
-Despite his mother's initial resistance he was kicked out of the family estate with help of the church of Asmodeus
-He ended up in Devil's Nursery after being beaten up by young dottari and was nursed back to health
-Halam stayed there, learned how to help and stayed to help

Goals
-Free his mother from the tyranny of his aunt and father
-Help the tieflings of Kintargo "escape" from Devil's Nursery and truly become proper citizens

Secrets
His own: His origin. To those around him he's just Halam and none know he's a Sarini or that he was an Amodean altar boy. His dramatic change in appearance since then helps quite a bit, as does the denial from his family.
Kept from him: His mother isn't suppressed nor did she defend him. She wanted him dead and his embarrassment erased and it was his father that made sure he was only kicked out.

NPC relations
Countess Urora Sarini: Halam's aunt and the matriarch of House Sarini. Despises and pities Halam but doesn't hate him. This feeling is mutual.
Corinstian Grivenner, high priest of Asmodeus: Former teacher and boss of Halam. Won't recognise Halam if he sees him but will remember his voice. Won't consider Halam worth his time while Halam hates him.
Strea Vestori: Leader of the Cloven Hoof society and the person that found Halam and got him help. Strea is a mentor figure to Halam despite very different interests, talents and goals.
Newt: Trade partner. Halam gets many of the herbs he needs but can't find in Kintargo from her and she buys some of his concoctions.
Iylvana Desdoros: Half Elven headmistress of the Alabaster Academy and childhood friend of Halam. Secured his access to many herbalism that he uses to tend to the sick.
Bonus(because dead): Malin Haace: Old tiefling midwife and healer who patched Halam up and taught him the basics of the trade of the healer and herbalist and inducted him into the faith of Shei. Died of old age.

Key Memories
-The morning he woke up with a stub at the base of his spine that grew into a tail over the course of a week and all his attempt to conceal it.
-The moment his father and some guards kicked him out of the house while his mother was screaming at her husband for him to stop and bring Halam back.
-Opening his eyes to see the kind, wrinkled face of Malin Haace above him, smiling at him the way no one ever had before. It was a warm, loving, motherly smile.

Fears
He fears something will happen to his mother or has already happened, that she was punished for her attempts to save him. He regularly has nightmares about it.

Here's Carawyn, my entry.

Seeing as she works as a tailor, it's possible she knows Lirana (or even works for her family) if both are selected.

(FYI, this is motteditor, which I realize I hadn't made clear.)

I'm assuming that all similar shops would share a district and thus be within a short distance of each other. That would make it fairly likely that we would at least know of each other and our respective shops even if only to know the competition.

@Carawyn: Looking over your character and noticed a similar mechanic to my own, although a totally different char concept. A hint on to the secondary natural attack of your clothes: IF a creature with a secondary natural attack has no other secondary or primary natural attack and is not armed with a crafted weapon, the secondary attack always counts as primary. So if you do not wield a weapon and only fight with your clothes, they will count as primary, thus you do not receive that nasty -5 penalty from the secondary attack and apply 1.5 times your strength (ahem, INT) bonus to damage rather than only half of it.
Cheers ;-)

I'm afraid I'm going to have to pull out of this recruiting process. :(

Have a family emergency that will require traveling out of state and will have no time to finish my submission.

RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16, RPG Superstar 2012 Top 16

Thanks, Old Snowbeard! :)

Berenice's background is now complete, and with it, Berenice's entire submission!

Character Concept and Background:
1. Berenice is a wiry and sharp-eyed halfling, skilled at archery and talented at barking orders to her allies.

2. Born to a family of halfling slaves in Westcrown, Berenice was separated from her family as a child as they were split up and sold to different owners.

3. After escaping her owner and gaining her freedom, Berenice learned of the Bellflower Network and hopes to use their resources to find and free the rest of the Bluethistles.

4. Berenice came to Kintargo shortly after failing to free her older sister from captivity, partly out of a sense of self-loathing at her failure and partly because since slavery wasn't present in Kintargo it was an opportunity for her to start anew.

5. Berenice is attending the protest at Aria Park to make her voice heard. She believes that with a Thrune in the position of Lord-Mayor, slavery may be reintroduced to Kintargo, and nothing would anger Berenice more.

Goals:
1. Eager to bloody the nose of House Thrune, Berenice seeks allies to form into a group capable of taking a stand against them.

2. Berenice continues to search for her parents and remaining siblings, whom she's been separated from since she was a child.

Secrets:
1. Berenice still feels deeply guilty that she could not save her older sister from death, and part of her feels the only way she can make up for it is to martyr herself against House Thrune.

2. Berenice's family is not only alive, but has been mostly reunited and freed. The only reason Berenice hasn't received word of this is because they're in Westcrown trying to find her.

Contacts:
1. Despite parting on bad terms a year or two ago, the halfling Jacopone tries to keep in touch with Berenice. Berenice has since apologized for blaming Jacopone for the death of Marioza, Berenice's older sister, in a mining accident that resulted in Jacopone's freedom along with the other surviving miners, but tries to avoid calling him a friend. Jacopone, for his part, has been understanding and doesn't hold a grudge, offering Berenice a cot in his new Kintargo tenement whenever she may need it.

2. Berenice's former owner hasn't forgotten the injury she inflicted on his son before escaping, nearly killing the arrogant boy with a thrown rock. As Berenice becomes more famous, he may learn of her and come to Kintargo seeking revenge.

3. One of the first friends Berenice made after arriving in Kintargo was Laria Longroad, the halfling proprietress of Longroads Coffeehouse. As the former head of the Bellflower Network in Kintargo, Laria was aware of Berenice's exploits and had been hoping to smooth over the bad blood between Berenice and the Network to bring Berenice into the fold as a full member.

Memories:
1. The memory that has perhaps defined Berenice's life more than any other was when the Bluethistle family was cruelly split by their owner. She remembers bawling as she was yanked away from her older sister who was screaming at the injustice of it, while harsh human voices yelled at both of them to shut up. She remembers her younger brothers starting to cry too as others came to take them, and her parents just staring at them helplessly. She still has nightmares about this horrific event, and doesn't want any other child, halfling or otherwise, to have to go through it.

2. When she was a teenager, Berenice managed to free herself from the Chelish noble who'd bought her from her patience. She was a domestic slave on the noble's estate, and had made something of a reputation for herself clambering along the rooftops of his manor, throwing stones at the various pigeons and crows that would nest in hard-to-reach places up there. When her master's son took to abusing one of the other halflings in the house, anger filled Berenice and for the first time she threw a stone at a person, nearly killing the boy. Partly seizing her chance at escape and partly out of fear for her life, she fled into the forest on the estate and never returned.

3. Another traumatic memory that haunts Berenice is that of the death of her older sister, Marioza. Not long after her escape, Berenice had gotten the attention of the Bellflower Network. Learning there was a group dedicated to freeing halflings from slavery gave Berenice a sense of purpose, and she attempted to use their resources to find her family. The only lead they had was on her sister, owned by a lord in Ravounel. The lord had a large mine on his land and Marioza was one of the slaves who worked in it. After infiltrating the mine, Berenice tried to persuade Marioza to run away with her, but Marioza refused, stating she was not abandoning Jacopone, a young halfling man she'd met in the mine and fallen in love with. Unfortunately, there was a collapse in the mine and Marioza was buried under it. Berenice was angry and heartbroken, lashing out at her sister's boyfriend before running off and making her way to Kintargo. She's since been ambivalent about the Bellflower Network, feeling her sister's death could have been prevented if they'd been more aggressive.

Fears:
1. More than anything, Berenice fears for her family still in chains. She has placed inquiries wherever she can, but as they are spread through many masters throughout Cheliax, information hasn't been forthcoming. Threatening their safety or lives, or even threatening to withhold information about their whereabouts, is one of the few things that can rattle Berenice.

2. Something else Berenice has a deep fear of is the insidious magics some people, especially Asmodeans, use to get in the heads of their victims. Taking control of her own mind and body away from her is possibly the worst kind of slavery in Berenice's eyes, even worse than raising the dead, because at least there there's no mind being subverted.

*wipes some counters*

Well because you plan on making two groups do any here wanna make some tie-ins between characters? It'll help flush our group motivations out and such.

Also, where we able to take a third trait for a drawback?

Definitely interested (GM'd a group through Council of Thieves fairly recently and it was my favorite AP so far). Will return with a couple characters readied.

Dotting to read more

I'm gonna make a character update, I'm changing to the Warlock... or perhaps a diffrent spellcastimg Vigilante archetype, to reflect his time spent in the church of Asmodius as an adept.

So, background finished and i made sure to use that one checklist you had ^-^ although to be honest the hardest part was The NPC tie-ins.

Here's my complete submission. If you like the idea and I'm fortunate enough to be chosen, if you want me to change or add to anything then we can work through it, but as he is, he'd have no problem forming a rebellion to overthrow an evil tyrant.

Feats:

1a. Exotic Weapon Proficiency (Double-ended Spear)

Gear not currently on him: 8 shortspears (8gp, 1d6, 20x2, piercing), 1 double-ended Spear (can detach into two short spears, 20ft range, piercing, 20x2 crit, 90gp?).

Cavalier abilities:

Tactician - At 1st level, a cavalier receives a teamwork feat as a bonus feat. He must meet the prerequisites for this feat. As a standard action, the cavalier can grant this feat to all allies within 30 feet who can see and hear him. Allies retain the use of this bonus feat for 3 rounds plus 1 round for every two levels the cavalier possesses. Allies do not need to meet the prerequisites of these bonus feats. The cavalier can use this ability once per day at 1st level, plus one additional time per day at 5th level and for every 5 levels thereafter.

Challenge - Once per day, a cavalier can challenge a foe to combat. As a swift action, the cavalier chooses one target within sight to challenge. The cavalier's melee attacks deal extra damage whenever the attacks are made against the target of his challenge. This extra damage is equal to the cavalier's level. The cavalier can use this ability once per day at 1st level, plus one additional time per day for every three levels beyond 1st, to a maximum of seven times per day at 19th level.

Challenging a foe requires much of the cavalier's concentration. The cavalier takes a –2 penalty to his Armor Class, except against attacks made by the target of his challenge. The challenge remains in effect until the target is dead or unconscious or until the combat ends.

Edicts:

The cavalier must show courage in the face of danger, mercy to those who have wronged him, and charity to the poor and the meek. He must be just and honorable at all times and in all things. He must defend his honor and, above all else, the honor of those he serves.

Loose progression later on:

Level 7

Mount: Griffon
Mount name: Stormchaser

Alexi's Moniker: Ahringar, Rider of the Storm

Backstory with as many points as I could fill in from your original list:
Two goals that you'd like the character to accomplish in-game.
1 - Establish Ahringar as a different personality without arising suspicion of his true identity.

2 - Remove the corruption of House Thrune from Kintargo, establising contacts under his public Noble guise of Alexi, while becoming a symbol of hope for the people under his mysterious moniker of Ahringar.

Two secrets, one the PC keeps to himself, and one kept from the PC.

1 - The tunnel he's having built under his home is to house his Griffon. It'll run into Verduran Forest from his Town that's half a mile away, to not raise suspicion with the local townsfolk.

2 - His mother fell pregnant a second time, but miscarried when he was young and kept it from him. His father knew but didn't think it was necessary to inform Alexi when he was too young to understand.

3-5 people that are tied to your PC by blood, love, rivalry, honor, etc. I'd like at least one enemy in a set of three or four, with no more than two for a set of five. PLEASE consider the players reference guide for ideas.

1. Elaine Kine - Mother - Lives in Oppara - NG
2. Renard Kine - Father - Lives in Oppara - LG
3. Victor Kine - Uncle - Lives in kintargo, Renard's brother - LG

Three key memories that define your character as the person they are at the time of submission.

1. Leaving home for the first time. There was a mixture of uncertainty and excitement that lead him to becoming the man he is today. It solidified his personality and gave him his independence.

2. Being given a town to Lord over by Baroness Origena Devy. She's a close friend to Alexi's parents and repaid what they had done for her over the years by giving Alexi his town. Learning to lead, he knew he had to be a fine example of a man for his people, making firm but fair decisions on their behalf and calling for regular council meetings to see what needed to be addressed, changed, declined or agreed upon.

3. Seeing his Griffon friend for the first time, as he crashed down into the Verduran Forest one day when Alexi was out on his balcony. When Alexi went to investigate, this changed his life and put him on the path wanting to make big changes with his strong, soon to be mount/animal companion. He just needed to fund and put his plans together to become the anonymous figure he so desired to be.

Name: Alexi Kine
Title/Role: High Lord of Deepfir
Hair: Black, choppy fringe, layered back to shoulder length hair kept in a tight ponytail
Eyes: Blue
Face: Attractive, strong jaw, fairly thick eyebrows
Complexion: Pale
Height: 6'1
Build: Slim

Clothing: White tailcoat with red lining. It has gold buttons and embroidered tassels on the shoulders. Under this is a White and gold waistcoat also with red lining, a crimson cravat, tanned trousers and black boots with gold detailing.
Notable equipment: White and Gold non-magical Rapier
Languages: Common and Sylvan

Personality: Very polite, chivalrous, grateful, highly formal, well spoken, confident, calculative, wise, considerate of others, rarely over-exerts himself, spirited, charismatic and intelligent. Lordly - Very respectable and loved by his people and in some cases, admired by his relatives and noble relations.

Alexi is well-spoken at all times. He's down to earth with good manners that never subside and he always greets others with formality - proper etiquette.

Backstory:

Born in Oppara, Alexi was the only child of his mother Elaine and his father Renard. He had a very studious upbringing and often took delight in reading tales of fantasy and the supposedly heroic tales of travelling parties and adventurers before his time.

He was privately tutored, often by his mother as his father spent a lot of time away from home on business, carrying out his duties and responsibilities as a noble lord.

It was through these duties that relations were formed with the leaders of surrounding settlements. Renard had a bit of sway with the council, making it easier for other notable members of nobility to acquire planning permission for expansion of their buildings or lands and so many high ranking members of the public would liaise and trade deals with him.

Though they remain in contact, most of the Kine family had gone in very different directions. Renard's brother Victor for example, moved to Kintargo to establish his name there as a Teacher of Philosophy and the Taldori language. He privately tutors and resides in the Green (Green) District.

At 20 years of age, it was time for Alexi to leave home and forge a name for himself. He'd had a proper upbringing and although fairly sheltered, had a good understanding of what would be expected of him in life, having seen first hand how his parents were treated and how members of nobility act around one another at privately held parties and events. He knew to be wary of others and that keeping up appearances was the best way forward, whether he trusted those around him or not.

Now at 26, Alexi's held his own settlement (courtesy of Baroness Origena Devy) for the past six years and has become quite a well respected political member himself. On the surface he appears to be a very intelligent person, capable of using the strengths of those around him to his own advantage, as well as guiding those around him to reach their potential for their own benefits. This makes him a formidable leader, yet under the surface he sees his nobility as something he has no way of escaping and a very challenging occupation at times.

As such, with every new adventurer he came into contact with, his dreams of doing something greater for the people of the land, something more fun than acting pretentious around folk that often made him sick to his stomach, became more and more a reality.

Going back two years, at 24 he decided one day to stroll out onto his balcony, gazing up at the blue skies above to take in his surroundings and accomplishments, reflecting on his past and pondering his future. It was then that he saw a large majestic creature soaring through the sky, seemingly on the hunt for food. Alexi watched with curiosity, when all of a sudden it dipped down into the forest not too far from his home. With little excitement in his life, he left without alerting those around him and made his way into the wooded surroundings of Verduran Forest.

Making his way through the twisting natural paths before him, he found himself at a rather large pond. It was quite the sight, highlighted by the sun in the middle of a clearing, encased in nothing but trees and thickets too wild to pass. It was here that the large creature he found himself gazing at above was in fact drinking from the pool some 30ft away.

As Alexi approached, the large beast seemed to ignore him as it carried on drinking. Alexi got a little closer still, when suddenly the bushes behind him rustled, revealing a charging pack of wild dogs headed straight for him and the creature.

Two of them jumped on the beasts back, sinking their teeth deep into its flesh. It let out a powerful roar and immediately leapt into the air, thrusting its wings down towards the ground, releasing a gust of wind strong enough to push the grounded dogs back several feet.

At this point, Alexi briefly covered his face from the dirt and lowered his posture to anchor himself a little better as he watched the creature thrashing about above.

Still attached to the beast, one of the dogs went for the throat and missed, crashing down to the ground and instantly dying, while the other clung on for dear life as the creature flew higher and higher into the air. Meanwhile, Alexi was on the ground slowly getting surrounded as the dogs advanced on him, backing him further and further towards the pond edge.

Drawing his Rapier, Alexi held his weapon out in a defensive stance and tried to ward the wild dogs off by shouting, which served to only aggrevate them further. Suddenly, there was a yelp and a huge splash behind him. Instantly turning to see what the commotion was, the three dogs ahead made their move and ran towards the noble. Lunging upwards, Alexi managed to catch the first dog in the eye, swiftly drawing his blade back down and readying himself for the next attack, this time against the dog to his right. As it leapt through the air, Alexi lowered himself further to the ground and aimed his Rapier high once more, piercing straight through the dogs ribcage as it jumped towards him, instantly killing it.

Pulling his blade from the corpse and under the pressure of the dangerous situation he found himself in, Alexi lost his footing and stumbled back towards the waters edge, not realising how close he was to the pond or how uneven the ground around him was. This time he wasn't ready for the dog. As it snarled and foamed at the mouth, it ran for him once more, leaping straight for his arm when suddenly, out of nowhere, the soaring beast Alexi had seen before, swept down from the sky above and snatched the dog right before Alexi's eyes, taking it high into the sky and dropping it some 80ft away.

The beast then returned to Alexi, landing right beside him. It was tense for a moment, but the creature cautiously approached the noble and nudged him with its beak before lowering itself to the ground, gesturing to Alexi with a nod to seemingly get on its back. Still a bit uneasy, Alexi ignored his gut instinct and climbed aboard the beast, which was in fact a Griffon. The creature then flew him to the edge of the forest and out of harms way, where Alexi, somewhat awe inspired by the situation then made his way back home.

Over the next few days the noble realised that this forest was in fact the Griffons hunting grounds and over the next couple of years, he made regular trips to visit this creature, befriending it and eventually learning to ride it. With each visit Alexi was better prepared than the last and understanding the dangers of the forest, planned to have a set of armour privately commissioned for him. The helmet would somewhat resemble that of the Griffon's head, while the rest would armour him head to toe. He had a distinct vision of what it would look like, with decorative thin plates strategically placed to not impede movement, but covering enough of his body to at least conceal his identity while protecting his most vital organs.

He continued to slip out of his home unnoticed and after familiarising himself with the Griffon, he set aside a very small amount of the towns funds to begin building an underground lair in the form of a massive tunnel, leading from his home to the Verduran Forest. He planned for it to be constructed within the basement of his home, with the idea that it would be far enough down to not alarm or suspicion in town.

First, he would need an experienced Architect to ensure his home would remain stable after digging a lot of its foundations up and had planned to have the builders/miners visit his home publicly, so he could easily address the public with his new "Wine Cellar", should they ask.

After some tedious research, he discovered a Noble family by the name of Jarvis were trained specifically within the building and construction industry and that the Architect's within the family would likely take him up on his request. This would also allow for him to form further business relations and would likely benefit both parties.

The purpose of this 40ft wide by 30ft high tunnel was to serve as the home for his Griffon companion, which he personally named Stormchaser.

Though a great distance away from his home in Andoran, Alexi departed Deepfir and made haste for Kintargo. He travelled by sea on a rather long journey and decided the first thing to do upon arrival would be to drop by his Uncles place, who he hadn't seen for at least ten years. He was still recognisable as the same boy his Uncle once knew. He was just a little older and wiser, but kept his true intentions a secret from everyone.

He'll tag along to the protest, but as soon as anything kicks off, he'll gladly root out the evil and destroy it, acting as the caught up citizen within the struggle until he can establish his second persona - Ahringar.

GM:
Also, I quite like the idea of Alexi having a sister, so I'll just add this to the above:

Sister: Corina Kine

High Lord Alexi is 26 years old, where as his sister Corina is two years younger than him. He hasn't seen his sister for the past eight years and last saw her at her wedding shortly after her 16th birthday party, but then lost all contact with her entirely.

Perhaps her husband murdered her. Perhaps she died at the hands of a highwayman. Perhaps Bandits got her. Perhaps she was assassinated or perhaps nothing bad happened to her at all.

Though concerned for his sisters wellbeing, Alexi had to get on with his life and although he'd paid several different investigators to look into the cause of her disappearance, everything was still a great mystery.

What I was thinking was that somehow, whether through choice or against her will, Corina has now become a member of the Silver Ravens, though anything could have happened to her, so it's just one of many plot hooks for you to play with if Alexi makes it into the campaign. I'd be discovering what happened to her at the same time as Alexi.

@servis the easiest way to do it is look on the players guide, Kintargo at a glance. it gives a breakdown of the major structures that in most cases we will go to at least once.

@DM Chubbleston: Would you mind putting up another of those awesome summaries of finished applications before the deadline? There has been some dropouts and latecomers (and also I'm interested if Old Snowbeard seems good on a quick glance or if I missed something) - I am curious if I have read all the nice characters already or not, and it is easier do check against a list of people than to searching through the complete thread ;-)

I just wanna say I have enlisted outside help on choosing the characters because when I said I Would be heavy RP choosing, yall didn't disappoint. I have so many favorites I am having a hard time deciding. I definitely recommend everyone looking at others submissions because they are good.

Have some reading left - yeah!

And yeah, choosing players is always hard. Had the same problem with my Warhammer 40k campaign here in the forum - and there were less applications ^^

Just wanted to note, Mythryndyr is an Elven Sniper (Rogue)...

I've been reading new submissions as they've come along, playing close attention to any I view as a rival for being chosen. :)

"Keep your friends close-by, but your enemies even closer."
Old but good one ;-)

Oh, sorry. I must have forgotten. I wanted Lawful Good, but am just going to put him as Neutral Good as it'll likely fit into the campaign better. He's just a little more on the Lawful side than the usual Neutral Good type. Gotta keep up appearances!

Oh, I'm no longer an avenger, I'm a Warlock- basically a spellcasting Vigilante

I appreciate all the submissions. I am closing the submissions good luck everyone. I will be going through each one individually and ranking them. By, RP, Background, Class need, and Alignment synergy. if someone isn't chosen I am sorry. it was not that you had a good background or RP there is only so many spots to fill. anyone who isn't chosen can post if they want their characters to be alternate characters. which will mean that if not chosen I will happily PM them first if anyone drops or need more people. that is the best I can offer, and if I have a easy time because this is my first AP to DM. I will gladly try to Start another. because so far I have had such a positive response to everything. TY gaming community..

Fingers crossed!

Lirana would also work as NG if alignment is at all an issue.

And now I will enter the "Waiting/Refresh" mode as we await the selection. :)

Servis is infact NG, his N alignment is only his social identity.
