Bio-
This will be my first shot at a PbP campaign as DM, however I have 20 years experience as a DM (pen and paper) I still have a table group but I promised my wife no video games recently so now I need something to occupy my time when at home. As a former Rules Lawyer type I don't like high Power gamers because I have found out that the more people power game the more I have to power game to keep the encounters interesting until eventually there is a knife edge between TPK and Fun. I will be looking for role-players that enjoy a story and have good imaginations.

rules:

Characters are level 1
-Average starting wealth
-All Classes allowed
-Standard races ,Tieflings (hellspawn and regular) and Tengu only.
-NO third party publishing sources allowed!
-All other Paizo books will be allowed
-2 traits one of which has to be a campaign trait from the Hells Rebels players guide. and a reason to protest choice in players guide.
-23 point buy with no stat above 18 or below 10 before racial adjustment. (I adjusted this a little due to not being able to dump stat CHR, of course you still can if you want.)
-Recruitment will be based more on RP than class preferences and builds because probably will not use maps.
-might not use maps and tokens (still deciding). imaginative people will work best. (oh no! not minis, Aghhhhhhhhhhh!!! so old school.)
- anyone who chooses Vigilantes will not have their other vigilante identity until after y'all join the ravens but you wont be penalized either so no losing your identity until it is established. It doesn't have to be silver raven identity, but you will need to choose your "look".
- will not be using the rebellion tracker metric in the book it will be based on how I feel your rebellion is going with RP, and making alliances.

I will give at least two weeks on recruitment and time for people to build characters. (I don't know how much the interest will be but I hate not giving people a chance.)
I will also be recruiting people or to replace people at the end of each book and work them in (because this is a rebellion its easy to "recruit more people" ). With first preference to those in the story already but that will give people a chance to leave or come back or replace missing players. if we lose people in the campaign i will just adjust the CR encounters until the end of the book. along with that, any character changes that someone wants to do they can have a opportunity at the end of each book. I am looking for 5 players to start.

Background:

Background- I saw this and stole it. (shoutout DM mathpro, who also stole it from someone else)
1) I'd like 5+ points that capture the concept and story of the character. More are welcome, but no less than five.
2) Two goals that you'd like the character to accomplish in-game.
3) Two secrets, one the PC keeps to himself, and one kept from the PC. I'll come up with a third that both the character and player aren't aware of, in hopes of shocking surprises within the storytelling.
4) 3-5 people that are tied to your PC by blood, love, rivalry, honor, etc. I'd like at least one enemy in a set of three or four, with no more than two for a set of five. PLEASE consider the players reference guide for ideas.
5) Three key memories that define your character as the person they are at the time of submission.
6) Finally, I'd like you to include with your submission a fear or paranoia that causes your character to shiver, cower, or panic. Anything from spiders to unexplained happenstance, but I'm sure you'll all come up with some awful stuff on your own.

Sorry forgot to mention, In the adventure we will be dealing with the underground. and here are several extra background ideas that we will be doing to work with. if anyone needs additional ideas to add to a good background. that we will run across.

Newt (a male Halfling LE)- runs the underground black market.
Nox (a human Female LE)- is one of Barons Thurne right hand woman.
Strea Vestori (Tiefling Female N)- missing outspoken person to tiefling right in kintargo, missing on a purge call night of Ashes recently.
Laria Longroad (female Halfling CG- a smuggler in kintargo of Halfling slaves.
Order of Torrent- a hellknight order that is good aligned. lead by Lictor Octavio (LG human male, expert negotiators, and constables. (weapons longbow and halberds)
Luculla Gens (human female N)- candymaker that give sweets to kids
Vespasio Vespam (human male N)- tinker and shopowner, Blunt and rude artisan that has a soft spot for artists.

Interested. I'll get something up tomorrow.

Very tempted to apply with a character I made, loved, but never got the chance to play.

GM:
He's a Griffon riding Cavalier that I based on Dragoon's from Final Fantasy. When he can actually have his Griffon, his whole fighting style is all about getting high and leaping from his mount, dealing falling damage plus weapon damage to his enemies.

The only thing I think I'd need permission with is his weapon. I have him in my head as someone with a unique double weapon (a double ended spear he can separate into two weapons for no other reason other than theme - his weapon is like 6-7ft long, so being hard to fight with that in a corridor, he'd spend an action to dismantle it and fight with them as two separate weapons with exactly the same damage property and hit bonus. It's just the fluff of being more believable, being able to fight in enclosed spaces with two smaller weapons, rather than one he couldn't even swing in such a situation).

He's a Noble. His Dragoon form is his alter ego, armoured in such a way it keeps his identity a secret as he doesn't need the credit for his actions. He gets enough praise through his Noble life, so he likes to keep his adventuring life and Noble life as two separate things, often leaving "on business" to pursue his more adventurous side.

He can fight just as well on land as he can on his mount with how I've built him, so if any of that sounds interesting to you, I'll search out the build and rewrite some of his backstory to make him fully integrated into this campaign. :)

He's addressed as High Lord Alexi, but his real name is Alexi Kine. He's the Lord of a town (it was Deepfir, but I'll change things for this campaign as I said. It'll be easy enough).

He won't get a Griffon until I think it was level 5 or 7 and it costs two feats, but the theme is amazing. He's built from only official content. His order is Order of the Sword and he's Human. I think he'd really work in this campaign. His intentions synergise so well.

At- Dinaeri

Going strictly by your description and applying the weapon creation rules. it would be the equivalent of a double weapon. s. spear in each hand if separated with the ranged increment of 20 ft if separated. and if together a double s spear with d6/d6 P x2 crit and you get (6)pts for the exotic weapon proficiency finished product.

because I am posting this. I will remind you that a griffon in Kintargo is not normal and could draw unwanted attention. because you would be part of a rebellion a little anonymity is expected. so make sure to explain how you are going to take care of that eventually. (like only use him if you leave town or, only at night, etc...)

GM:
Yea, I had the idea of not actually using him in town until the Rebellion kicks off and what a show that would be - An armoured Griffon rider leading an army of people against the Tyrannical leaders.

Funnily enough I did actually have him throwing spears as part of his concept, so separating and throwing them sounds like it'll work.

I was planning on keeping him in an outhouse slightly out of town. He'd be too big to travel underground with Alexi anyway. It's more a really fun and different gimmick I have for Alexi that won't be necessary 24/7.

It'd be hard to investigate with a creature as large as a Griffon afterall, though fantastic for scouting high above!

I have no problem taking exotic weapon proficiency for that and was either running with the idea of crafting unusual weapons myself or having it commissioned.

Maybe there's an actual weapon crafting system I don't know about, because I don't quite understand the 6pts comment. I'll check it out. :)

I have a char that was in a Hell's Rebels group but then I moved and couldn't anymore. I love the character and it is very flavorful.

With your permission, I would like to submit for consideration.

Dotting for interest.

@DM Chubbleston As I have played part of this AP, would you consider my application or would that disqualify me?

I am interested. Can fill any slot. I will start working on something.

Liberty's Edge

I'd be very interested, would you be willing to sign off on Pathfinder Society chronicles for the adventure path?

Pathfinder Lost Omens Subscriber

Dooting for interest, will start building a character soon.

@Qiao- sorry I don't go 100% by the book on the AP. which I would need to do to fill out the pathfinder chronicles sheet.

@Saashaa- I have no problem if you have played the path because I deviate a little just in case someone has. plus most people on these boards can separate Character knowledge from player Knowledge.

spoiler:
I love intrigue and throwing people off. I just ran this path on table last year and surprised a character that read the AP.

Dot! Will be back later.

Dotting.

I've had an idea for a character in this AP for a long time now. He's essentially a writer.

Bard/Vigilante multi class eventually going into pathfinder chronicler so that I can inspire people who read my rebellious work.

I've missed a couple of these recently, I'd definitely be interested.

I am so interested in this! One halfling Vanguard Slayer angling for Halfling Opportunist and Bellflower Tiller comin' up after work!

Silver Crusade

Here is my character Septimus Falkland, a Tactician Fighter and member of the city watch. He is an honest arbiter of the law rather than a Lawful Evil bastard like many in the city and has grown upset about the city's corruption and most of all the foolish laws of the new Lord of Kintargo and thus has attended the protest.

Now a good question is if you're willing to give Combat Stamina as a class feature for Fighters. Even with it Fighters are under-powered compared to other martial classes. Even better, the Unchained Fighter book provides fixes that makes the fighter more balanced compared to other classes. Its up to you DM of what you're allowing.

Grand Lodge

I'd be interested, if you don't have too many already. I've got a 1st level Elf Sniper rolled up, if there's room for him...

@Septimus- I am sorry I'm not using the combat stamina. never used it. looked at it but don't want to add any complications, as this is my first PbP.

Septimus Sumbission:

1.Your missing the 6 pt backgrounds for him.
2.Seems like you have one extra trait- thier should be 2 and one of those two off the setting. your also missing reason to protest out of the player giude.

@otha- of course, this will be open about two weeks, just let me know with a submission post when you are ready and ill look him over.

If I missed that anyone has a finished character for me to look over let me know. I will summarize the submissions after I get a couple more.

Background on the submissions should include this in the first post but I just realized I probably should have had the background in the rules.

Interested. Will work up something soon.

Choosing a Cleric of Sheyln to write up. Her mentor/head priest has gone missing and it is feared he has been taking for giving aid to other priests of banned religions and she is desperate to find him.

Introducing Isabelle d'Sarini, the anarchist arcanist, who's taken up the cause because of a friend, lover, etc (another PC, even, if anyone would like to link backgrounds) who became involved.
She's still a work in progress but let me know if I'm barking up the wrong tree.

Quick question: Will you be using Background Skills?

@Profession, sorry no background skills. good question.

@lirana btw the leader of Sheyln in kintargo is a (NG male human) named Zachrin Vhast.

@Isabella If you find no one to take you up on the offer, you can choose a guy named Rexus Victocora (NG male human) who is a noble in the city (if you want a polished lover/ or a guy named Morgar who is more of a rough ranger type (CN male human.) or if you need females there are some names up top.)

BTW if anyone else wants to know any prominent names in town that they want to work into their backgrounds let me know, Like I said I'm heavy RP. and their is a small list of people I already listed on the thread. the more info I give you to put in your background the more immersive it will be. like I said Submissions will be chosen with this order in mind RP;group alignment outlook/synergy; then class need last.

Silver Crusade

Ok DM I have updated my sheet's background. Still I am rather upset that you won't let me improve my fighter beyond the core book which is HIGHLY under-powered. I might have to look for a better class to take so my character isn't useless during the campaign. Still will probably keep a similar background but with no spellcasting and poor class features I fear my character would end up dying early without picking a better class.

Ah yes, DM - Could you possibly give me the details on a good aligned Noble or three who would perhaps be in contact with Noble's outside of Town? I think I'll keep my guy as someone from Deepfir and I always planned for him to be in Kintargo on a long business trip for this AP, so anyone he'd know through his High Noble status would be good to know and would help me integrate him into the story further!

He currently also has no love interest and I don't know if he will, but perhaps he'll see Isabelle and find her attractive? I dunno. There are many possibilities.

If you can imagine a slightly more realistic interpretation, his appearance is this.

@Septimus - Our potential GM has just ruled out Stamina (never used myself and don't intend to), but all Paizo books ARE allowed. He said so in his opening post. That's still a lot to work with.

Silver Crusade

The Paizo books give little extra other than the Weapon/Armor masteries which are merely Options rather than Class Changes. You basically lose the +1 to hit and damage for a mastery. Plus you don't get them till 9th level which is a LONG way off. The class otherwise is one that needs an "Unchaining" but does not have it.

The only way I can get this character up to par is probably going into Cavalier. Problem is that the Horse will be utterly useless in a city. I did find an Archetype called Inspiring Commander though that probably would work. I lose the mount but get some bardic type abilities instead. Could be more relevant to the party.

Scarab Sages

Pathfinder Rulebook, Starfinder Society Subscriber

You might look into the Brawler or Slayer hybrid classes for what you want. They are both close to fighter with some alterations. Maybe either fitting the rough childhood.

Will work up BEORN THE DIVINE! Chelish Diva who fights for tea.

@septimus- I was actually going to suggest based upon your background so far is the cavalier/constable class, because it has the same skill points, you wouldn't waste the background skill for perception. it has almost all the same skills. and if you plan right you get unlimited Tactician. it wouldn't have as many feats. but since you had longsword as weapon you could go Sword Oath feat. (and don't worry about power on your character play something you like; good DM's will modify fights based on your parties power) (inspiring commander is third party BTW.)

@dinaeri - there are no high up Noble houses that are good aligned (they have been purged); the Delronge family lead by Melodia Delronge (LE female human)are into breeding, hunting and far off mercantile interests. it doesn't give a full list of sons or daughters so up to you for naming. or you can go (Tanessen family LN lead by Geoff male human) that is into city defense. (maybe a flying city defense group in training ) once again no names past that so up to you. or just make up a lesser house that is not into city politics and that is why its outside of town and ill work with it. If your chosen. (if you will read the Bio in the players guide it tells you formally the city was CG.) so a good house abandoning the city is entirely possible. and helping fund the rebellion later.

@dinaeri - sorry correction the noble house Jarvis is a CG house, they are architects. lead by (CG human female) Belcara Jarvis a former adventurer. the family made a lot of houses in Jarvis end (see map in players guide for examples)

Can Tieflings roll on the variant abilities chart?

@Ouachitonain-
yes but roll three times on here and choose one of the three or use the original one. because there are some truly sucky ones.

That goes for anyone else too. if they want a variant teifling ability. and don't like darkness or pyrotechnics for the regular tiefling or hellspawn teifling.

Because several optional rules were brought up in the threads these are the only optional rules I will implement for sure. My table game loved these when I ran it.

1. We will almost always have a out on our encounters I believe in a good exit if necessary. I have been using chase cards for the exits to get away so I will be using that. if anyone wants to Run Away!!.

2. And we will be using Verbal duels every once in awhile during certain encounters. (to influence groups or specific people)

I'll explain the rules in the campaign if you have never used these and you are chosen.

Cool!

1d100 ⇒ 71 Once per day, you can spend a full-round action eating from a corpse to regain 1d6+1 hit points.
1d100 ⇒ 23 You never need to drink to survive.
1d100 ⇒ 91 You gain damage reduction 2/slashing.

1) Eww.
2) Neat fluff.
3) Yeah, ok. I think this one wins.

New question: What about Variant Multiclassing?

No Variant Multiclassing please.

Description: Beorn is a strapping young man with a thick head of black hair and,(to his dismay) a still sparse mustache and beard. His
orc heritage is displayed by somewhat pointed ears and teeth and ruddy complexion. He attempts to dress well but quite often has to
be satisfied with common clothing.

Background:Beorn(he insists on adding THE DIVINE as his stage name.) was an abandoned child who was fathered by an orcish mercenary on a prostitute while on leave. Cared for until he was old enough for the orphanage, he was selected as part of a 'New futures for disadvantaged
children' project by a noblewoman's group and given an education. Taking a liking to the arts, Beorn took every chance he could to learn singing and became a talented amateur who longed for the chance to stand on a grand stage. However, with the occupation by Thrune forces and the closing of the opera, Beorn found his hopes dashed and his resentment at the ridiculous laws by the new order grew until he found himself
actually thinking of commiting treasonous acts.

1.Beorn loves to sing and shout, he often practices for relaxation and wants to start a school for youngsters. Beorn focuses on the little things, the laws against tea and dogs need to be targeted because every little thing counts. Beorn is not humble and will loudly proclaim his goals unless someone interrupts. Beorn will not engage in any mass destruction of property, broken doors and windows are no doubt expected but burning a place down will have him arguing against it.
2. Beorn will strive to get around the laws restricting tea and dogs by starting 'underground tea railroads' and homes for dogs. He is considering trying to train pigs to carry tea.
3. Lady Elizabeth Du'Arequette(mentor) a grand dame of Kintargo's social scene who sponsered Beorn's education by being the head of her social group. Has a liking for mini-pigs that she dresses in fancy frocks. Cullen D'Amberville(Mentor) Beorn's teacher in singing and acting, a rather stuffy and nervous man
who seems to be ashamed of his far off family and really doesn't want to be involved with them anymore. Gil Wulfenbach(rival) part class member of Beorn's a less talented but wealthier student who resents Beorn advancing past him and has sworn revenge!(They will all pay!)
4. OPERA! Beorn's first time standing on the stage of the grand opera reinforced his love of the art and he has pledged to restore it.SADNESS!
Beorn wept when Thrune's lack took over the opera and enacted his ridiculous laws, he fears for Kintargo's future. JUSTICE! Beorn will restore Kintargo to greatness and trample his foes under a stampede of pigs!
5. Beorn fears failing during his first live performance and keeps a bag of lemon drops with him at all times to make sure his throat stays primed. To fail and be forced to flee during his debut? MADNESS!!!

Archpaladin Zousha here, providing the beginnings of my submission, Berenice Bluethistle, a halfling Vanguard Slayer, aiming for the Halfling Opportunist and Bellflower Tiller prestige classes in the future.
