Hey I recently got season of ghosts and i had a question. I only have the first two books because I typically buy as I go because my group is pretty fickle, so it saves me money. So we started playing the first book and I decided to add more fey and dark fey elements into the adventure and my players loved it so I was wondering within reason (remember I have not read the last two books, so I don't know if the campaign automatically goes this route.)

1. how would i mix fey and undead into the main story the easiest? I already did rules of the fey and how it pretty closely mirrored some of the town rules. so I did unknown rules that they have to figure out.

2. I also would like to incorporate an evil flying sprite that will turn on them eventually being one of the seemly harmless good fey with a different sense of humor that is actually giving them bad advice at a critical moment to make a situation way worse. I already introed her and her name is Teela.

I'm still really busy with a house I'm flipping so I'm still about 2 months away. so I'm only able to get on once in awhile. I'm just taking a head count on interest and a rough idea about any issues or questions that people may have. and seeing what people would want to play.

i would be using a 20 point buy. and using automatic bonus pogression because dragonlance was a very magic light world.

it would be pathfinder, with just reskinning names if nessisary only, like hellknights could be a Knight of solamnic class choices.

i might consider gesalt, i will need to ponder that. the only things that i will be taking out of the dragonalance books are the races. not classes or archtypes.

I have been out of the PbP for about 5 months and I'm still about 2 months away from actually doing anything on them. however while I was away I got into a talk with a friend and decided to do a interest check on something with the intention of opening a thread in a few months. anyways here is my idea.

I want to do a fluid classics dragonlance campaign. where the heroes of the lance are not the originals but can be anyone. where I think that Raistlin, Caramon, Sturm, and Kit are essential to the storyline. (and their betrayal, death, etc.) I thought of way to change it if the story calls for it. basically they would be the NPC's in the Pathfinder rules. with parts to play if it came to it. so it would be up to the players on how to move the story forward. my only complaint about the dragonlance classics were that they were a bit railroady and that there were to many predetermined paths. So the premise is that you can submit your take on Tanis or Flint or anyone else. Or you can submit another person that was Solace that are meeting their friends five years later.

a short rule set would be.
1. all mages suffer from the Curse of the Magi- only first level and 0th spells would not be effected. (basically a fort save when you cast.) whether or not they are spontaneous casters or not.

2. if you choose a divine caster you would just add a "holy relic" that could be anything that would be what you cast your spells through until you "unlock" the divine classes.

3. you can play your own version of historical characters or your own. (for example, if you choose Tika maybe you can talk Caramon into leaving his brother, or just simply be there for him. or maybe you create a mage that is a rival to Raistlin, or a lover that looks past his faults and talks him into not turning on the group. Who would Laurna fall in love with? did Sturm have a brother that looks up to him? ) the only players off limits are Raistlin, kit, and Sturm where if the party chooses to continue their destiny they will fulfill their spots. Caramon is open if you have a good take on it.

I am looking for interest only however if dot a simple idea of what you would play would be of help to let me know some of the hurdles I might have to deal with. It can be as long or short as you want. any questions you want to ask I will also answer. we would be using the 3.5 dragonlance allowed races. if there is no interest that is fine because I talked my table group into this. so I thought that since I would be making maps and stuff it would be easy to just scan them and add to a Pbp.

I did something similar in my first iteration, but my computer crashed. your right that I think the swordforms add a lot to the setting.

RJ Wheel of Time pathfinder

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I'm working on a RJ wheel of time conversion that takes place after the last battle I am currently creating it so it is not finished, however I would say I'm about 50% done with it, but have not completed the formatting. I am placing it in the thread just to see what people think and whether or not going by the info that is completed if it has good potential. I am doing this during my free time which is not a lot. so it is taking some time. eventually I am hoping to do a total conversion of the ironfang adventure path. and then go on from there to other AP's. to do a F2F table group. but may be interested later to do some PbP for playtesting.

please let me know, any of your comments are appreciated. however I have a vision for this and my table group I prefer to under power than to start overpowering the info.

I want to say I'm sorry due to extenuating circumstances that were not foreseen I wont be able to play any Pbp for about 2-3 months. in another week I will have to stop. so I decided it would be better letting people know now than continue posting. if anyone wants to take over I would recommend it I chose good people I felt in the campaigns and I'm sorry for letting everyone down. I take my obligations seriously and am not the type of person that will just drop without at least trying to explain. those that didn't know I was a stay at home husband so I had a lot of free time on my plate however me and my wife bought a house dirt cheep as a investment and I need to renovate it before we move in top to bottom. I have done this before, because if you can, sweat equity is the best (my father was a custom home builder/contractor so I can redo anything in a house). because I've been through this before I know what is involved and I will not have the time or the inclination (even though its for fun) to get on when I will be dead tired. I have met many really awesome people in these forums and I am grateful to meet all of you and playing with you. I hope to see you all again in a few months when things calm down.

@alex - engineering.

Rex says "That sounds good to me. As a matter of fact we should be safe for a little while. I can set a Alarm spell on the secret door. I for one need a rest."

Beppe agrees. "I like that idea in the basement."

Beppe and Rex get the room ready as best they can while the others try to get comfortable on crates and barrels.

As rani steps up to the "destroyed trap." the stick breaks as the blade shoots out attacking Rani. Rani dives out of the way but is not quick enough as the blade buries itself into his shoulder. After the trap goes off it does not reset.

scythe blade: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 121d8 ⇒ 5

Beppe says "I don't know about you but I think we should go into that smaller room towards the top and have two people on guard. after these attacks I'm unsure this place is secure."

As Grethel walks towards the scarecrow it starts to twitch and rises off the pole it was resting on. In the rotten pumpkin a small bit of fire starts to alight. Vort barely pulls himself out of looking into its eyes. The scarecrow then silently rushes forward and attacks Grethel.

It uses its surprise action to fascinate Vort DC 14 will save.
Vort will DC: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14

the Initiative:

Vort Int: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
Alex Int: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (4) + 0 = 4
Greth Int: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
hans Int: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6

Scarecrow Int: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (20) + 0 = 20

Scarecrow firsts- first tab under caravan.
Scarecrow: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 241d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

Scarecrow fear on Grethel: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20

take 10 grethel you saved vs the fear effect.

Disable device:

Rani DD: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Badhru DD aid: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25

Rani believes he disables the trap, he places a stick in place to jamb up the mechanism.

The ghost raven gives a shriek of pain and dies as Johannes kills it with a ray with a wet popping sound it explodes like a balloon with light motes.

@Vort- You find no evidence of anything else in the clearing. it appears to be a cleared out piece of land that a old scarecrow was placed.

@alex- normally ghost do not come in the form of animals due to most ghost stay to fulfill a purpose. Whatever the animal is it is unusual.

Rex, laurant and Beppe all attack the creature.

rex attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 81d6 ⇒ 2

beppe: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 251d3 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Laurent: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 111d6 ⇒ 3

with a vicious strike Beppe kills the creature gutting it across the middle while Laurant distracts it.

The crow-like creature gives a shriek as it dies.

I have wasted soo much time now on the natural attack thing, I'm ok that if you use the one attack it is primary, but then you the option to combo it with spells or something just take the -5 because your build is not focused around this its not a game breaking decision. lol. I do have a much better idea now about how to use natural attacks better. you didn't hit it anyways.

@rani- You are able to see a vicious slicing blade trap near the doors. on the other side of the hallway.

@badhu you don't see anything.

@sefanit. there are not that many inscriptions on the walls. it is mainly pictographs. however after looking closer at the engravings you see that there is actual gold film imprinted on the walls, if you somehow can scrap it off you might get some gold.

@carawyn- well that's what I get for going down the rabbit hole.

you can use the hair as a grapple using your Int instead of your strength. however while looking up all the faq's I discovered that you are using the the hair wrong. you should be taking a -5 on every attack you make with it, because it is considered a secondary nateraul attack which always take the -5 penalty. but this does mean you can use you hair with a combo because it secondary. lol.

Her hair has reach 10 feet, and she can use it as a secondary natural attack that deals 1d3 points of damage (1d2 for a Small witch). Her hair can manipulate objects (but not weapons) as dexterously as a human hand.

Combat section: Attacks with secondary natural attacks are made using your base attack bonus minus 5.

@carawyn- you Don't use your Int mod on grapple checks with the prehensile hair. there is a FAQ on it. you can choose something different action if you wish before I post. I think we lost Laurant though.

as you come into the clearing you see a scarecrow barely hanging on to its poles. twine hold onto the wrists. you see what appears to be a glowing ghost raven. its light is a sickly green. trying to pick at the scarecrow but its beak doesn't effect the creature. as you show up it turns and appears to look at everyone. "Caw!"

Beppe and Laraunt take one look at each other and both spread out taking double move actions to get flanking on the creature next round,
Rex sees this , and with a feral yell "AAAGGGHHHHH" after he sees the fair maiden in trouble charges the Crowlike creature he attacks with his sword cane.

Rexus charge attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 181d6 ⇒ 4

the Crowcreature snarls at Rex as he hits it with his sword. Attacking him with its two powerful claws in retaliation.

Claw: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 91d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Claw: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 71d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

A5: on map in necropolis

@everyone- the walls of this room are rectangular shape it depicts the same man in the front in numerous battles. armies with spears and shields cross the room. while a leader in a chariot directs them. engraved stone double doors. are at both ends. as yall enter the corridor you hear from the sharft. "Your not dead yet right? Hahahah. " as Boaz pokes fun at the party.

ya in ok with 10

Sorry about the hold up on the posts I will be posting tomorrow, I had a really bad allergic reaction. and was home sick for the last few days. and going back and forth to the doctor. on heavy meds but will be back to normal posting tomorrow. feel free to RP with companions.

After everyone decides who goes everyone give me climb checks as you go down the pit. the description of the room is the same as I told Rani.

after searching the body you find a hammer, and two alchemist fires. the door to the room is closed.

i'll RP them if they don't post tonight.

@snow- I don't know, it seem they are not that rare. I could assume that you think it looks like a Tengu which are common but that the features are not right. For RP purposes make your own decision if you think you would have seen one before.

@rani- you see that the skeleton has both its legs broken, as if falling from a great height. you see that he probably died from a falling injury. it would be harder to see if this was a fresh body. however it has been picked clean or rotted enough to see straight to the bone. the room is a deathtrap in the sense that there is no way to get up the shaft without a rope at the top. mirrored images of a warrior are all over the walls in this room. wearing padded armor and a scarab shaped shield.

the shaft is 50 ft down. the climb Dc is 5 I believe with rope.

the party heads through the unkempt cornfield, as they get closer to the cawing. you can hear a little movement up ahead. The light is getting brighter and you will get to it shortly.

(any of you want to do anything this round.? before the view.)

Rex says "I'm just glad I could help. you see that is the only offensive spell I know. I'm not as much help as a warrior could be."

Beppe adds "I'm sure Laria knew nothing about this, she would have warned us."

As the party gets ready to head to the other room. a cry goes up as a creature leaps out and attacks the nearest person out of the darkness.

Discription- This creature looks like a humanoid crow with oily black feathers, glittering eyes, and a sharp beak. In the place of wings, it instead has two muscular arms, ending in sharp claws as hard as rocks.

Badhru laughs despite himself. "Sand rarely fights back, Neve."

Boaz comments "I don't know about that, have you heard of a Sandling?"

Boaz also stands near the edge of the Pit looking down

When Gabs throws down a light you can see that the Rope on the piton ends about three feet from the top. as the light falls the rest of the way down it fall next to a skeleton at the bottom of the pit. (not moving. dead person skeleton, I wanted to be clear lol.)

@sefanit - It is around, Four o'clock you still have plenty of time. At least another couple of hours before you need to head back.

@Rani- your checks turn up nothing.

Everyone tries to move the wheel together, assisting Teos; when with a creek and grinding of stone the wheel starts to turn. When it does a doorway is opened that leads to a room where a ten foot by ten foot hole is in the floor. next to the hole is a piton hammered into the floor with a piece of old rope attached to it going into the darkness. I slight musty smell is coming from the room.

@berenice- just a strength check would be fine because the croc let go and is sitting there with his mouth open.

@aldren your at the edge of the pier the croc half came out of the water and onto the Pier with his tail hanging off.

The White crocodile shutters once then goes limp as Laraunt plunges his short sword into the meaty flank of the beast killing it.

The sunrise is still many hours away. outside the farmhouse all is quiet except for the Cawing of the crow. After looking around you see that the light is more of a greenish color rather then yellow or white.

It seems you have time, nothing attacks you in the time it takes to put on armor. (sorry Vort just seeing if you would leave without armor) as for the crow you can see it but you know it there because it caws from the cornfield from where the light is.

will save vs evil eye: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16

Beppe sees his master going toe to toe with the croc and it gives him a fierce bit of pride in his charge. pulling out a short sword Beppe comes in attacking. slashing at its eye's, solidly connecting the creature gives out a thrashing of its tail trying to hit Beppe.

Attack Croc: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 201d4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Rex hears a shout given by Aldren. For a moment he is torn between helping running away and see what he could do to help. Looking down at his sword cane. that wont do anything.. once again he cursed his parents for only making Reckton go to fencing classes. when suddenly he realized that he might have a spell that could just reach the creature.
giving a quick prayer to the Gods of Luck. Rex runs to the edge of the water and casts a spell.

Will save Croc vs Color spray: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 31d4 ⇒ 1

The crocodile looks up as a color spray hits it square in its face and body stunning the creature. It drops Aldren out of its mouth, and is temporary blinded.

tactics-
croc Blinded and stunned. down 18
Aldren down to 1 hp.

Croc doesn't go its turn as you see it starting to move again.

After the party moves the sand away from the doors it takes just a little effort with crowbars to get the front doors open. By this time the party is more than a little ready to get into the shade. Entering in the rectangular room is empty save for some engraving and fixtures on the walls, and a pair of heavy stone doors to the north. a immense stone wheel sets against the south wall the air is stale , and a later of dust and sand cover the floor. all four walls have hieroglyphs and runes covering them. the wheel to the south is engraved with a large spiral and is set in stone tracks in the floor and ceiling.

A strength check is needed. to push the wheel DC 28.

Religion chk DC 15:
the doors are carved with likeness of both Anubis, and Pharisma

ancient Orision:
the hieroglyphs on the wall say "Akhentepi's tomb is well guarded, and those that attempt to defile it tempt the wraith of the gods" also "turn back when you can", and the only thing the Lady of graves hates more than a grave robber is a unsuccessful grave robber"

necropolis map updated

my friend Russell , (llano) decided play by post just isn't for him. he says ty for trying it out with him.

the White crocodile suddenly starts twisting around in a death roll with aldrens leg in its mouth. in addition to the ripping of his leg Aldren gives out a scream and falls prone when the croc twists.

Grapple death roll: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (17) + 11 = 281d8 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12

@laurant- no your good.

Heroes turns.

tactics-
Aldren prone and grappled by croc-

@everyone- I need everyone to roll the fort save using any clothing bonuses if you have those the DC is 12. Neve already rolled hers and just barley made it.

the light appears to wait or working on something. the crow continues to Kaw.

@vort- it sounds like a Crow, or Raven.

@Hans- you see a small glowing from the old cornfield that the farm is located at, and it appears to be getting smaller. (like a torch being carried away) your survival check doesn't turn up any extra info.

(Gl aldren) Good luck. Aldren.

you might get eaten.

Laurants posts seem to be spotty on weekends. so I will Npc if not posted by tomorrow. (Gl aldren)

I just realized Lirana you need to update your character to lvl two (your hp and other things).

Carawyn yours says lvl 1 but your hp is correct.

Berenice yours still says 1 also. but your stuff is two.

(sooo, could everyone just double check the stuff written on your stat sheet and stat info under your name for quick reference. thank you.)

Is the group waiting 1 minute (10 rnds) or 4 (40 rnds; lol) minutes for you to put on armor Vort?

I guess that goes for everyone not on watch.

are you investigating outside or staying inside and hoping nothing will happen until done.

yes

@badhru- I don't know, that is half the fun.

Nope, but go on. its entirely possible you did.
