Lucifer Belthrue |
With the help of others, Lucifer will try to climb up the shaft into the whole at the top.
Climb: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Gimble, The Storyteller |
With some help from the dwarf (which is probably quite a site to see), Lucifer is able to get a handhold and haul himself up the shaft. Pulling himself into the tunnel, and up on the ledge.
@Hovok: While Lucifer is climbing up, where do you position yourself?
Lucifer Belthrue |
After looking through the stuff, he calls down. "Strange. Looks like some type of supply depot. There is some waterskins with stale water, coffers filled with salted food and a rope with a grapple."
Seeing no reason to retrieve the stale water or salted food, he instead secure the grappling hook and lowers the rope down. He then climbs back down.
Hovok Thunderforge |
Eh...guess the rope and grappling hook will be useful do you want me or Orovan to carry it.
So saying Hovok moves over next to the door on the right.
Lets go this way first Lucifer, and ready when the rest of the group set.
Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 15
Lucifer Belthrue |
Lucifer nods and goes to open the eastern door, checking to see what is beyond.
Lucifer Belthrue |
Lucifer checks to see if the key found underneath the skeleton works on the lock. If it doesn't, he pulls out his picks and starts to work on the lock.
Disable Device: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31
Orovan |
Orovan taps his spear lightly and hums as he continues to consider the room around him and possible angles of attack.
Gimble, The Storyteller |
Lucifer uses one of the keys to unlock the door and opens it.
Wisps of decayed and sagging spider webs droop from the walls of this room, which appears to be empty except for the long-dead, dismembered corpse of a giant spider and a stout, freestanding wooden closet in the southwestern corner. The ceiling is covered with dusty spider webs bulging down from a grid of wooden beams and plaster fifteen feet above the floor. Faint moans and plaintive sobbing come from the closet.
Lucifer Belthrue |
"A dead giant spider. Must be what has put all these webs up."
Hearing the sobbing and moans from the closet, Lucifer becomes suspicious. "Let me check for traps before we investigate that closet."
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10
Voldarus |
"Sounds as though someone is trapped in there, could be a trap itself though," Voldarus says stepping back and facing the closet, he readies a regular arrow and takes aim at the door. "If anything jumps out I'll take care of it."
Voldarus readies an action to fire if whoever is opening the door gets attacked by a weapon.
My move would come after the area is checked for traps
Orovan |
While the others focus on the obvious, Orovan continues to eye the webs warily. The cabinet could be a trap, sure, but it could just as easily be a distraction. Or something worse. "We should be ready to sanctify it. Not all voices come from our world."
Hovok Thunderforge |
Hovok also moves forward after the room is cleared for traps. However, after hearing Orovan's comment he pauses before pulling out a vial of Holy Water.
You want to hold onto this Orovan and if it is something already past this life we will be ready.
Following this Hovok moves into position to cover the closet with his Longhammer.
Damage, Str, PA: 2d6 + 6 + 3 ⇒ (4, 4) + 6 + 3 = 17
Lucifer Belthrue |
Lucifer thinks of something that might help to see if it is a trap. Using his racial ability, he sends his voice toward the closet and directs the person in the closet. "Do not worry. No need to cry, we will get you out of there."
Lucifer then waits to see what happens.
Used Ventriloquism.
Gimble, The Storyteller |
As Hovok moves in, his dwarven senses catch his eye and he notices a few of the stone tiles in the middle of the floor are slightly raised.
Moved you back 5' as I assume you won't purposely step on suspicious tiles.
Lucifer speaks at the box using his spell-like ability, but the moaning and sobbing continues.
Lucifer Belthrue |
"Tiles?" Lucifer looks at the tiles that Hovok points out and sees that something is odd about them. He goes about the process to look for a way to disarm the apparent trap.
Disable Device: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18
Orovan |
"Webs that are used by living spiders. Some deaths can wait for a thousand years..." Orovan trails off ominously. You'd almost think he was recalling some specific memory.
Lucifer Belthrue |
"Avoid the plates, I couldn't disarm them."
That being said he moves toward the closet to investigate but remains cautious.
Neilmin |
there seems to be a lot of traps down here, theres gotta be something good down here.
neilmin follows behind orovan
Im gonna stick with you big guy anything happens you got it right?
all right.
keeping his eyes up checking the webs well just about everything is up to him
Hovok Thunderforge |
Well we can still get to the closet will just make it a little difficult to fight...Wonder if we can draw whatever is behind the door onto the traps for us if it is hostile.
Gimble, The Storyteller |
Everyone focuses on the closet, while a couple keep an extra eye on the dead spider and the empty webs, moving into position avoiding the trap in the middle of the room.
Jafit I moved you to the door. I assume you would at least be in a position to see in the room. Go ahead and move yourself to where you want to be.
Hovok Thunderforge |
Just wondering if you want to open the door Lucifer need a little room for my hammer otherwise I would do it.
Just wondering Disable device allows multiple attempts to complete if you fail the first time right?
Lucifer Belthrue |
With the suggestion of the others, Lucifer goes about to try to disarm the trap again.
Disarm Trap: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12; hehe...
Gimble, The Storyteller |
With a little bit of peer pressure, Lucifer attempts to disarm the closest pressure plate, but he slips and jams his tools right into the trigger. The closet walls open and a zombie appears. At the same time a net falls over Lucifer.
Heavy Net Trap vs. Touch AC: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23

Orovan |
Orovan who notably goes after the ranged characters smirks at the simple trap and shifts into combat, dropping his spear and producing his greataxe once again.
Greataxe: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7, Damage: 1d12 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Lucifer Belthrue |
Escape Artist: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Lucifer tries to slip out of the net but it proves to heavy for him to get out of.
Hovok Thunderforge |
Just wondering Lucifer should be where the X is correct.
Don't think the goal is to set off all the traps there champ, but will help you after we put this one into the ground to stay.
Seeing the rotting form coming out of the closet; Hovok moves the longhammer off his shoulder before taking a swing.
Attack: 1d20 + 2 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 2 + 4 = 19
Damage: 2d6 + 6 + 3 ⇒ (1, 4) + 6 + 3 = 14
Voldarus |
Sorry I've been super busy writing papers lately
Voldarus turns as a zombie appears and fires off 2 shots, but it's not an easy shot.
Rapid Shot: 1d20 + 7 - 6 ⇒ (10) + 7 - 6 = 11
Rapid Shot: 1d20 + 7 - 6 ⇒ (6) + 7 - 6 = 7

Gimble, The Storyteller |
Splash Miss: 1d8 ⇒ 6
Jafit moves up and attacks, but comes closer to hitting himself than the undead creature.
Neilman throws an alchemist fire, which hits the wall next to Orovan.
1 point splash damage to Orovan and the Zombie.
Voldarus quickly looses two arrows, but can't seem to find an openning around his allies.
The zombie, seeming to be quite a bit faster than you'd expect a zombie to be, attacks the oracle twice, one attack misses, but the other hits Jafit square in the head knocking him nearly unconcious with a single blow.
Slam 1: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25

Jafit (1/19 hp)
Orovan (16/19 hp)
Zombie (-15 hp)
End of Round
The Party is up.
Lucifer Belthrue |
Seeing Jafit go down with a single blow, Lucifer struggles further to get out from the net so he can join the fight.
Escape Artist: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Hovok Thunderforge |
Regrouping after his last swing hit; Hovok launches another blow with his hammer trying to crush the zombie this time.
Attack: 1d20 + 2 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 2 + 4 = 12
Damage: 2d6 + 6 + 3 ⇒ (5, 6) + 6 + 3 = 20
Orovan |
Orovan is a bit shocked by the zombie's general stoutness and resolves to get serious.
Greataxe: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6, Damage: 1d12 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
But all the resolution in the world can't help him muster a solid blow.
That time we got TPK'd by a zombie working in tandem with the Dice Gods.
Voldarus |
Not seeing any other alternative Voldarus shifts slightly and continues to pepper the enemy with arrows. A natural 20 might hit...
Rapid shot: 1d20 + 7 - 6 ⇒ (17) + 7 - 6 = 18
Rapid Shot: 1d20 + 7 - 6 ⇒ (18) + 7 - 6 = 19
Damage 1: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Damage 2: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Gimble, The Storyteller |
As Lucifer tries to escape, Hovok and Orovan take swings at the undead creature who nearly fell their comrad, but both miss their target.
Neilman shoots a ray of frost at the zombie, but hits nothing but the wall behind it.
As Jafit regains his balance from the blow, Voldarus finds an openning and two arrows come flying by Lucifer and Hovok and strike the zombie in the head. The undead creature drops to the ground silent. All is quiet.
Out of Combat.
Sorry it took so long to post. I had minor out-patient surgery yesterday, and didn't take the time to get to a computer.
Hovok Thunderforge |
After taking a look in the closet the zombie came out of for anything interesting Hovok moves back into the other room getting ready to go through the south door.
Assuming Lucifer got out from under the net that last roll without needing help.
You ok there Jafit. Then slightly under his breathe.
Guess you need a little more room than that to be effective my friend.
Orovan |
Orovan scowls at Neilmin for a long moment before shaking his head and returning his weapons to their proper place.
Lucifer Belthrue |
With the threat eliminated, Lucifer takes his time to work out a way out of the net.
Take 20 Escape Artist = 22
Assuming that got him out of the net or others helped him out...
Lucifer kicks the net, "Bloody net. You got the better of me this time."
He wants to double check the room for anything else like secret doors or loot before moving on.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20
