Jafit
|
Jafit looks at the battlefield, feeling even more useless than he normally does during a combat, when he gets an idea. "Hovok! Give me a second and I'll make getting out easier!" Even as he speaks, the ifrit reaches down into himself, pulling on ancestral power. (Assuming he does not refuse the magic) Hovok feels a wash of heat roll over him, spreading from Jafit and across his form, altering that form, stretching it, bulking it, making him significantly larger.
Jafit casts Enlarge Person on Hovok. Hovok will be a large humanoid at Jafit's next initiative, for 20 rounds. I would recommend delaying action until then, as having the edge of the pit be roughly face high instead of twice your height should make getting out easier.
| Gimble, The Storyteller |
Orovan reaches down toward Hovok to help him up.
Jafit takes a step forward to look into the pit and begins casting Enlarge Person on Hovok. You'll need to be adjacent to Hovok to see where he's at due to the Obscuring Mist.
@Neilman: You are at the edge of Obscuring Mist that takes up the rest of the cooridor. You watched Jafit disappear into the mist as he stepped forward.
The group can hear the familiar sound of the spider snapping its mandibles and then the clicking of its legs on the stone floor.

Hearing Voldarus calling through the mist and unsure how Jafit can help him when he isn't having any luck discerning him through the dense mist.
Well lets see if we can get out of this hole then.
So saying he takes the time to stow his shield before attempting to climb the wall.
Climb: 1d20 ⇒ 8
And now the bad side of heavy armor course also hurting with the -3 str.
Orovan
|
Oops
Orovan stands back up and picks up his ax, ready to engage the spider if need be.
that'll take both my actions, but first I want to make sure Hovok makes it up since that's what I was on the ground for anyway. And did he get enlarged?
Jafit
|
No line of sight means no line of effect . . ., so a channel would be wasted. GM said I can gain visibility for the Enlarge, though
Jafit looks through the fog, trying to guess where he can provide the most help. No good clumping of people for another channel. Hovok looks hurt, though, so Jafit burns another spell to heal the dwarf. The feeling of banked coals in a fireplace, with the aroma of a stew simmering on a hook just above washes across Hovok from the ifrit's touch . . ..
CLW: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

As the spider moves away, Voldarus sinks his falchion deep into the side of the spider. Bleeding and wounded the spider continues to move out of sight.
Lucifer attempts to climb his way out, but he can't seem to find a hold and makes no progress.
Hovok attempts to climb out, but doesn't make any progress.
As Hovok reaches up to climb, Jafit is able to reach down and cast a cure spell to heal Hovok a bit.
Orovan readies his axe, waiting for a chance to finish off the spider.
Everyone make perception checks.

Hmm so guessing Hovok is enlarged now and that would affect the climb how? Can I reach the edge to pull myself up without climbing?

Lucifer climbs out of the pit.
@Hovok: DC 10 to climb out for you, and I'll allow you to climb out with a single move action.

"Lucifer lookout, the mist, the mist looks like it might be a creature or, I don't know it doesn't seem right though," he says feebly.

Come back here little spider. 'e ar'n't done talking with 'u.
Hmm...out of the hole big or little...big or little...little has had much to do so far.
If I still have another action and that is a good enough roll to follow Lucifer will do that while readying his shield again.

@Hovok: You're up on the platform, but squeezing with Voldarus at the moment.
This large room has a wide hole in the center of its floor. A heavy, welded steel ladder descends straight down from the lip of this shaft. The extent and depth of the space below are concealed behind the many
crisscrossing, whitish-gray spider webs filling the pit.
You don't see any sign of the moving mist you thought to be the spider, but you do see two spiders on opposite sides of the door at the ceiling trying to hide in the webs.
Neilman, Jafit, Voldarus, Orovan are up.
Lucifer Belthrue
|
"A way down the tower is beyond the door. But seems to be guarded by two more spiders."
Jafit
|
Thinking to himself, "This may take a minute or two.", Jafit turns his back to the pit and lowers himself down the side, dangling from his tiny, blackened hands before dropping the remaining few feet to the floor of the pit. Carefully moving between the spikes, he crosses to the far side of the pit before working out how he's going to climb up this side. Then he gives it a go.
"Can I get a hand, here, please?"
Climb: 1d20 ⇒ 18
I left the "figure" in the pit, because I think that's at least a round and a half of movement I just described. I'm hoping the 18 is good enough, because otherwise Jafit's probably stuck without help.
Orovan
|
"Let it go. We need to regroup and heal up."
With that, Orovan attempts to assist the oracle in getting across the pit.
I guess try to drop down safely, then Aid Another?

Neilman makes a running jump across the pit, but as he flies through the mist, his feet come up a bit short and you hear a faint thud as his body hits the side of the pit. He tries to grab onto the ledge, but his hands can't quite find a proper grip and he falls. You hear a small thump and a loud shriek as a couple spikes pierce the gnome.

Fall Damage + Pit Damage = Total Damage: 1d6 + 2d4 ⇒ (4) + (2, 1) = 7
You are prone in the pit.
Orovan spots Jafit as he climbs down the pit with no problem and Jafit sees a fallen and hurt gnome.
Voldarus is up.
Voldarus
|
Voldarus pushes himself off the wall and readies to attack with his falchion if he sees the spider come back.
Readied attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Damage: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (4, 2) + 2 = 8
| Gimble, The Storyteller |
For simplicity I moved Voldarus to the nearest open square so he's no longer sharing space with the Enlarged Dwarf.
The Obscuring Mist ends at the door. Looking into the room:

You don't hear any movement except your own. It's a bit ominous in the mist.
The spiders in the other room seem to remain "hidden."
Jafit and Neilman are in the pit.

Voldarus stays out of the room and switches to his bow. "There are a couple of spiders hiding in the back there. But I'm not going in first. Not this time I'm not," Voldarus says wearily. Blood is pouring out of several cuts and he's sure that a rib or two broke on the fall. His face looks sickly but he hold himself up as straight as he can and readies an arrow.
| Gimble, The Storyteller |
So, I wasn't able to climb into the pit last time?
Can I do it this time?
@Orovan: Go ahead and make a climb check to drop into the pit.
@Everyone: In this room moving through squares with webs is half movement and an acrobatics check to avoid getting caught in the web.
Lucifer Belthrue

Web 2 - Ranged Touch @ Lucifer: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19
Lucifer, you still have a standard action. The green border around your avatar indicates you're webbed in place.
@Hovok: You heard Lucifer mention the other spider fleeing in here, but all that can be seen, by just Lucifer and Voldarus because of the Obscuring Mist, are the two on the map. Your size doesn't play any significant roll in getting caught in the webs or not other than the bonuses (and Penalties) Enlarge Person grants.
Lucifer Belthrue
|
Lucifer stands still where he is stuck, "That will be useful. These spiders are shooting webs everywhere. Don't worry about burning me, I might be able to avoid any damage."
Doesn't take a standard action and readies himself to roll out of the way of harm when Jafit starts burning the webs.
