Gark's "And Madness Followed" (Inactive)

Game Master Human

Investigating the transformation of a highland village, four travelers find portents of unfathomable misfortune. They follow a band of mysterious humanoids to a larger town, only to find it, too, thrown into chaos. At last, they catch the performers in the act of opening a portal to the distant city of Carcosa, and defeat a host of enemies to defend a city from corruption.

Horn, you still have your own turn, so if you get that up before I get home and post the completion of this event we will go with that. Otherwise I will NPC you (probably just moving upwards and starting to cast another summoning spell).

By the way . . .

Sorry! Instead of making another post, I edited my previous one and added onto it.

Liberty's Edge

Male Underpowered Warrior 1

Alright. I could've sworn I checked for an edit just before posting, but I must be misremembering.

For the record, all the saves against the illusion were made offsite (on random.org) to preserve suspension of disbelief. I did not roll for the velocijakks.

Male Cetakin Wizard/9

So what enemies are left standing? That flying satyr thing in the seats? What's the big blue thing in the south?

Liberty's Edge

Male Underpowered Warrior 1

Satyr thing is not flying, and is actually Horn's summoned monster. The blue thing at the bottom of the map is the flying, mute triaxian who Suchak just yelled at to get out of his head - it is the only enemy still conscious, as far as you're aware. (Its miniature is a large blue thing for reasons that will become clear once Horn relays the info in the spoiler.)

Oh how embarrassing! I forgot we changed initiative order. Whooooooops

Liberty's Edge

No problem. I'll still use the rolls if you want.

Busy week this week--and the next couple--for me...and much of the busyness is writing deadlines so I don't expect to have many long posts. If I fall behind feel free to DMPC. I'll be trying to keep up but expect to be slower and briefer than normal.

Thanks for understanding!

Alright. We're in the home stretch so I'll be inclined to wait for you, most of the time.

That works for me too. Excited to see how this all plays out

Aught's sure collected a lot of ouchies. Will probably back on up and hack at him with the bardiche. What size is this creature?

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

I wish I could take some hits for you (I've got some defensive stuff that'd let me eat at least one full attack off of you without getting hurt) but I have no way to get up there. I have one ability that would let me deflect a single hit against you if I match an opposed attack roll, but apparently everything has a bajillion hits instead of a few big ones, so less good.

Tell me if there's a specific hit you'd like to avoid though and I can try it.

Liberty's Edge

It's Large size, and you know it has 10' reach as it took an AOO on you before.

You also know the hammer is ineffective against its DR, though, so the bardiche may still be a better bet.

Final projects happening for the next 40 hours or so. I will try to get an update up tonight.

Liberty's Edge

Sorry for the delay! Finished my last final project a few hours ago and I've been catching up on online stuff.

Liberty's Edge

Finals tomorrow and the day after so I may not be able to post until about noon Friday.

Rynjin, I would like to make it known that for most of this fight you were fighting a veiled moon-beast. Really a fantastic coincidence.

HA!

Just wanted to say, before we wrap this up, I've had a LOT of fun with this one-shot. I've enjoyed playing Suchak (as a character, and because the Stalker class is as awesome as I was hoping it would be), and even with the delays you kept a brisk pace with it. Thanks for running it, Gark.

If you ever want to run anything else (or continue this), I'd love to join in again.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Even with a character death, you still had me interested. Great job, and a great group. I've never had a death that I was happy with, and I felt like it added to the drama. Again, it was awesome.

Thanks :)

And while it was hectic at times, I'm glad I ran it. It was fun filling in little world details as we went along, and it was fun running combats with rebuilt NPCs. I'd like to thank you all for playing and for putting up with my rules-lawyering :V

Agreed! Great storytelling/RPing all around.

Additionally, I've actually never been in successful an PbP that didn't modify initiative in some way (usually using block initiatives) and I was really impressed with the pace you were able to keep given everyone having to wait their turn to post.

Thanks again for all the fun--and for the understanding when my life got suddenly way busier!
