Bald male Half-Elf elder

Eidi extends his hand to greet Allustan "Eidi here. Some hunting business made us came together a while back. Now I am just wandering around looking for a pretty place to make my final rest when we find out about the dragon then about this interesting place" he looks at the sphere "A Tempest Globe... interesting... well, if there is a lever we did not find out, we had to make you out by force"

The half-elf nods "Yep, I can use some rest, I do not know if this is the right place though. Specially with that shadow talky spider around. Perhaps we can try that door Eri found? or the one to the south in the previous room? Before coming back your home to rest"

Male Human Fighter (archer) / Sorcerer (stormborn) / Eldritch Knight 1/7/7

Once Eri finishes with the door he rushes over to Allustan and blurts, "I'm so happy you are alive!" His cheeks get red and he backs off a tiny bit and listens.

"Allustan? It's me, Solrisa!" Solrisa points to her smiling face so that the man can see her and maybe even recognize her.

"Should I go bash the Tempura Strobe?" Solrisa asks. "I'm not as good as Rae at bashing and smashing, but I'll do it if you think it's a good idea." She still ponders whether to use her morningstar or adamantine sword in the endeavor.

Roll20 Link- Age of Worms

Allustan appreciates the gnome's ministrations, while greeting familiar faces. "It is a marvelous find, isn't it? I haven't been able to ascertain exactly where this tomb is located, but the work the Wind Dukes put into its creation is humbling...what? You killed the dragon?? That Black? I retreated into the Tomb before it could find me, and was planning on teleporting back to Diamond Lake to avoid it. So it was still lurking about, eh? How long was I trapped in the Globe, I wonder.
What day is it?"

When Solrisa offers to desecrate Icosiol's Tomb, Allustan blanches. "Bash it? Why would you want to do that? That Globe is centuries old, surely, created by a powerful mage." The old man shakes his head.

"I agree with you, about the spider. It hissed at me for intruding, for trying to plunder. That leads me to believe that there are powerful things here, still." Allustan points at the Tempest Globe. "I thought that if I was able to find something that could be used to overcome the dark forces that seem to be growing..." He doesn't finish his thought, slipping into a nodding to himself. The sound of lightning lends gravity to the old man's final words...

As soon as possible Eidi channels a couple of positive energy waves by use of his symbol.
Channel energy 2 times: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 5) = 8

The half-elf then looks around and taps the walls "Icosiol's Tomb... this seems some interesting work. I wonder how much gold requires to built up something like this... Do you think I can afford one of this?"

"Dark forces growing?" Eidi averts his eyes "Please explain... and what is this place too. Are we in the Ooze Plane?"

Meanwhile, the elder half-elf helps Ascaria with some of his healing by converting another remove fear spell.
CLW+healing grace: 1d8 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 5 + 1 = 11

"Ooze plane? You think the Wind Dukes created a tomb for one of their own on the Plane of Ooze? What makes you suggest that?"

Allustan looks to each of the others, then looks at Eidi. "Dark forces. The whispers of an dark Age returning, of Kyuss, of His Worms. These good people have begun looking into their recent discoveries. They might have returned with some word from Egorian? Eligos might have uncovered more in his studies than I have been able to. There is a pestilence seeking its way back into our world. I hope that we can uncover a way to bar its entry."

Male, Gnome

Eidi, I'm fine after your channels - back to max. Save the remove fear... just in case. :D

Ascaira begs off the extra healing of Eidi's, "Thanks, but we're all fine now I think." he grins.

"Allustan, you should be more careful. You're not as young as you used to be. You were gone a few days." he tells him the date.

He's troubled by Allustan's revelations, but adds, "We have some documents, and some news of the worms in Egorian." He gestures to Mort (I think Mort has the docs... collected from Tynan's body.) to hand over the files.

He goes on to describe their triumphant win in the arena, and the horrifying things they found in their spare time. And of course of the death of his friend. He leaves out some of the gory details though if he can.

Mort's watch plan is perfect for tonight.

"Dragon, Black. Yah, we defeated it. It wasn't so much a dragon though, as it was an overgrown Dire Chicken."

Mortimer half listens, and his eyes glaze over a little.

Dragon. I wonder what it's like to fight a real Black Dragon. Not an overgrown seed pecker... I guess there was some acid... that would have been --

"Yes, yes! I have them... now." Poor Tynan... "I have ... " he sits down on the ground beside Allustan and starts digging through his backpack. "... I have these." he says, offering Eligos' notes up to Allustan.

"Make sure you don't read anything out loud that you shouldn't." He adds, hesitantly. "I heard about this guy once who read aloud from a mysterious book and opened a portal thing or something and got sucked into it and ended up being lost in time."

Solrisa smiles with excitement because she knows the answer to that question. She knows the exact answer.

"Because sometimes bad traps like that can sometimes hurt good people. I mean, we wouldn't want some nice person to come in here blindly stumbling around in vain hopes of finding something but to get captured in that. No, that wouldn't be good at all. And just think how silly that person would feel if they were trapped like that. No, we should probably bash it until it's broken," Solrisa cheerily explains. "We should prevent innocents and people who don't know better from being caught within."

Solrisa looks to the party to see if they agree that the Globe should be smashed to prevent vain and foolish people from being trapped within.

Mortimer listens, looking at Solrisa slightly aghast. Without changing his expression, he looks up at Allustan, then tucks his head back into his backpack.

I don't want to be in the middle of this one.

Allustan pats Eri on the back, while nodding to the gnome. "Yes, I didn't foresee company. I am ever grateful that you came looking." When Allustan is informed of the death of Eligos, the old man blanches, and bows his head, words failing him.

He sheepishly shrugs and addresses Solrisa. "I still feel bad about breaking that stone wind cone off of the wall back there, is all."

He turns to look curiously at the sphere through the door. "Besides, I don't have the slightest clue how it works, or how to break it without getting caught up in it."

Solrisa smiles at Allustan, seeing that he probably understands the 'wisdom' of Solrisa's words.

"Shall we get you out of here? This place has some bad spiders in it and tricksy fire snakes. It's not a good place, Allustan. It's not a good place at all. We should bury this place to the tippy tip like I suggested long ago."

Roll20 Link- Age of Worms

Allustan settles in for the rest promised by Mortimer's assignments. "It sounds like Ascaria is for continuing the investigation of this Tomb, and Eidi's curious about another door. As for me, I have a team now who can support me in delving a little further." The old man smiles, giving Eri a thumbs up. He lays Eligos's notes on his lap, and looks back and forth between those who wish to leave, and those who wish to remain.

Solrisa for departure, Ascaria, Eidi, and Allustan for investigation, and Mortimer and Eri in passive abstention.

"Well, before we can bury this place to the tippy tip, we should have some idea of where all the tips of it are." Mortimer states, thoughtfully.

"Hey, Allustan -- do you really think there's something down here we can seal up to prevent these EVIL nasty worm things and their friends from infiltrating our world? We should start with that. Do you have an idea of where it might be?" Mortimer asks.

"Maybe after we delve a little more through another door or two -- and those notes -- it will become apparent, but first we should rest."

Male, Gnome

Ascaria looks sorrowfully at Allustan, and gives him space to grieve. He turns to the group, agreeing with Mort.

"Sol, I have two concerns about destroying the room. One, you might not be able to do it. I know you're good at it, very good, but the magics may be too strong."

"More importantly though, when you walk in there, you might be sucked into the center as Allustan was. Eidi barely got him out, and it may take days, or longer, to get you out the same way if we have to."

"I don't want to spend that kind of time down here. So for now, I think this room is off limits."

"About the secret door, I say we wait. I'm running out of juice, and that spider is still out there and may harass us in the night. Tomorrow we'll be fresh and ready for anything and we can help Allustan examine this complex then I think. Now we've got Allustan safe, we're not in such a rush."

Later, when the party is discussing further exploration he suggests, "Oh I'm certainly curious about this place, and it seems there is evil here to be thwarted, so I'm definitely in!"

"Er, after a rest of course, if we can manage it."

Eidi looks around at the tomb "Great stuff. Yeah, great stuff here"

"The problem is... if we go out... we will have a hard time coming back again... remember about our little friend from the planes..." the elder sighs "If you allow me, I can conjure a long lasting sphere of invisibility and have a look around. I definitely want to know more about this place... ah... erm... I mean Allustan said the world is in danger and we might not have the time to figure out how to get back here once we leave... do we have?" the half-elf's eyes spring with emotion looking past the secret door "No we do not have, right Solrisa? Mortimer? Eri? Allustan?" Eidi looks back to Ascaria with very sadly needed eyes.

Male, Gnome

"Oh! I agree. I don't want to go out. I want to stay here and rest, if we can. No, we leave when we're good and ready." Ascaria agrees.

"But I suppose, if you insist, we could move about invisibly a while. I don't like the idea of going out so ill prepared, but if people feel we can't rest here, OK."

Solrisa shrugs. She thought that the point of coming here was to save Allustan, and now that he's saved they should go. But she will listen to reason.

"Allustan, what do you think is down here and how will it help us?" Solrisa asks, knowing that it might have been discussed already. "It seems dangerous and unfriendly down here and I'd like to be sure it's worth it."

p.s. She's happy to rest or move on.

Bald male Half-Elf elder

Eidi's eyes glitter when he understands the idea is to keep exploring the tomb "Let's become invisible so the spider has a harder time finding out where are we resting" the half-elf smiles while casting his invisibility sphere.

If not other place, Eidi moves back to the room before the group found the salamander and there he casts rope trick behind a column using his arcane bonded ring daily spell.

Once inside he shows "What about this little place? Does it please you?" he opens his cookies pot and offers some, starting with Allustan "Politeness says just one sir" he looks at Solrisa.

Male, Gnome

Ascaria scampers up the rope in awe, "Nicely done Eidi! Our own home away from home. I say," he says munching on a cookie, "This will do very nicely indeed!"

Allustan follows along, as the others secure a safe space to rest and recuperate. "The Wind Dukes were a Lawful race, and overcame powerful forces of Chaos. From Zosiel's Tomb, you recovered tokens that suggested their prowess. You remember that Talisman don't you, Solrisa? I wonder what lies buried with Icosiol, of course. It was He who helped forge the Rod of Law, which was instrumental in defeating the Queen of Chaos. I'll grant you, the stories indicate it was shattered in that battle, and became the Rod of Seven Parts, but those stories often change in the light of recent discovery, which I hope we're doing."

The party secures a decent hiding hole, and gains the rest required to restore themselves. You are not disturbed by Flycatcher, or any other denizens of the Tomb, for that matter.

"Talisman? What talisman? (Link)" Solrisa's eyes cross as she tries to remember and she waits to climb up the rope to sleep for the night. After a few prompts, she'll remember.

"Oh, the talisman!!! You think it's important? How can it be important if it doesn't do anything? And we don't have one of those Spheres to use it with?" Solrisa asks, excited to have remembered eventually with a lot of help and explanation.

"Why would you think the Rod of Law would be able to help us, Allustan? Especially if its broken? Seems to me we're dealing with green worms and dragony wurms and not with Queens." Solrisa asks, trying to understand more.

Solrisa will rest and pray and be ready to explore more in the morning. She will use the wand of barkskin on herself and Mort in the morning as they head out.

Male Human Fighter (archer) / Sorcerer (stormborn) / Eldritch Knight 1/7/7

Eri sees the rope and looks for a tree. Seeing Ascaria disappear he grins wide and climbs up.

"Whoa! I need to get one of these!"

"Make yourselves comfortable" comments the half-elf smiling back at Ascaria.

Mortimer gazes up skeptically at the rope dangling in thin air so invitingly. I don't remember hearing about this one...

He pulls as hard as he can on the rope gaining confidence in it when it refuses to yield.

He frowns at the small opening. "Are you sure we're all going to fit in there?" he asks.

He enters only after he is sure everyone is safely in ahead of him.

Once inside, he's relived to find it smells like hay. "What is this?!" he nonetheless demands to know. "Are we on another plane again?!" he asks suspiciously.

Moritmer agitatedly and absent mindedly takes a cookie when Eidi offers one. "Where's all the furniture?"

He borrows some charcoal from Ascaria and scrawls on the inside wall of the space "Artists and Outcast were here"

"... just wondering -- if we get the same one everytime you cast this..." he explains.

Eventually he relaxes a bit, and sits down. He stares at the cookie.

Before sleep, Ascaria casts a Lesser Restoration to top off his Dex damage. 1d4 ⇒ 4

Satisfied he provides light for the group until its time for sleep. Which he does rather deeply having had a long day. Refreshed and awake early, he’s keen to get out of their safe-room and into the complex.

When folks are up and preparing, he casts Magic Vestment (+2 for 11 hours) on himself and Sol as well as Status, lining up Allustan, Mort, and Sol in his sights.

He creates a splash of water for his face and hands, and makes ready to face the new day!

”Talisman of the Sphere huh? I think we knew it was something like that but not the details.” he says chewing on a breakfast of rations. ”That sounds pretty powerful. I hope we don’t encounter one of those Sphere of Annihilations thingys. Those sound nasty!”

He wonders about putting the rod back together and shakes his head, There's no way we're all that! he thinks.

When he hears Mort’s question about where to start, he volunteers, ”How about the secret door Eri found last night? Maybe it bypasses that electricity so I don’t have to throw down another protection spell.”

"I think many things are important, but you should really be asking if we think that any of this is relevant to our problem, not simply important as a generality." The old man looks up from his lap, having spread it out smoothly, on which he now rests Eligos's papers.

"The Talisman could very well be a goose egg, but it represents one Wind Duke's death nest, which means another's might have an egg of its own. That's its abstract relevance. So, if Icosiol was honored in his burial, it stands to reason that there might lie some powerful item, possibly the Rod Itself, which in turn could be turned against the evil, hopefully chaotically so, forces aligning with your wormy legions. The Rod's already served well against a Queen, you have that right, but it would be silly to suggest that the Rod is only good against Queens. She was, after all, the Queen of Chaos, so we might find ourselves something powerful against Chaos, in general."

He thinks a bit and examines their current troubles."I can protect us from the electricity as I protected us from fire. I suggest we avoid touching anything, like the sphere. Is that how you were trapped Allustan? Do you think we can just walk through without being sucked into the timeless prison?"

If so, Ascaira casts Protection from Energy Communal (18 minutes or 120hp of electrical damage, whichever comes first) on everyone including Allustan, if he's coming with. And he should, that spider is still out there...

He’ll also cast an extended Bless (+1 attacks & saves vs fear (morale)).

"We could try pushing this corpse into the room. Maybe the sphere will pick him up instead of us?"

Mortimer stands on the dead body of Anytress studying the only bright thing besides Sol's armor and shield in the room -- the statue. He stares at it for some time in silence.

Allustan turns to the gnome. "You have a point. If I remember correctly, you observed agents of Asmodeus, Urgathoa, and Lamashtu, all conspiring. Perhaps we are acting rashly, in delving more deeply here."

The old man looks to Eidi, Eri, and Mortimer. "Solrisa and Ascaria have raised reasonable concern in risking our well-being for speculation. I am curious as to what remains here, to be sure. I am also interested in reading over Eligos's last writings, but Diamond Lake seems a more fitting place to do so. There might be better leads to learn from good study." He pats his satchel, where the papers currently reside.

"I will not ask your indulgence here. I am ready to depart, if you are."

Mortimer:

The statue is as it has been described, gold with blue gems.

Solrisa smiles at Allustan, happy.

"Okay, then, let's get on with the exploring!" she chirps happily and with big flashing smile. "Shall we start with me smashing the sphere so you all can pass by without incident?" Solrisa draws her sword and test its edge for smashing. Then she checks her morningstar which also might serve the purpose of smashing.

Solrisa makes herself ready to depart.

"Mort, look!" Solrisa holds up the new, fancy shield that she had given him. It is made of mithral, a wonderful 'stone' that Solrisa fancies. "This new shield is the best. Look! Look! It shimmies and shines and is beautiful! I love it!" Solrisa straps the Ascaria be-magick'd shield to her left arm and is ready to go.

Bald male Half-Elf elder

Eidi pads Solrisa's shield "Nice one"

The half-elf moves with the others back to the electrical room "You know, Mortimer has a point. Let's through the salamander corpse and see what happens."

After helping to throw the salamander inside he points "We can try to dispel the room from the safety of the outside" he looks to Eri "We can join forces" he looks to Ascaria as he prepares his spell "Or we can just move in and hope the salamander and your spell protects us"

Just at that moment something comes to the elder's mind "Wait, you said there was no lever to open that door, isn't it? Perhaps we are better exploring other rooms to try find out the opening mechanism"
Perception: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (4) + 16 = 20

Eidi seems just delighted to keep exploring the tomb and does not make any comment about retreating to Diamond Lake for now.

Apparently there are three holes alongside the secret door, which appears to accept a burst of air in order to see the door open. Let’s join forces to pause the room. How do we do that?”

Eri casts Mage Armor on himself and Gravity Bow on his cold iron arrows. It lasts 9 minutes.

Roll20 Link- Age of Worms

The dead body of Antyress slides slowly to a stop as it's shoved across the threshold of the Tempest Globe's room. The Globe doesn't seem to take to it as it did Allustan.

"Ascaria, you asked how I was trapped, earlier. I didn't have to make contact with the sphere. I was barely into the room when I lost track of time." The old man looks over shoulders, curious as to the possible tactics. "You freed me by trying to dispel its magic, and suppressing it, at least. The spike does appear to be a necessary feature, so Solrisa might not be wrong to suggest that damaging it or destroying it will end the Globe's existence."

Mort tears his eyes away from the statue and gives his attention to Solrisa and her shield. He nods and smiles at her, trying to forget the mornings clasp incident.

Allustan wrote:

"HOLD UP, Everyone --" Mortimer suddenly bursts out. "Three holes? Burst of air? Is that a magic sort of key? Do we even have one of those? I don't think we have one of those! I've checked the statue's pockets, and they're empty! Even if you can disperse the Sphere, it might just come back right away. Will that give us enough time to use a key if we had one?"

He looks at Allustan. "What about Eligo's notes? How long will it take for you to get through them? Maybe there's some stuff you can skip for now?"

He stands on Antyress's corpse just inside of the threshold of the room in front of the door leading to the electric ball.
"Maybe the only rash thing we might do is try to physically walk into this room," he continues, thumbing behind him toward the Temporal Globe. "I'm guessing that if the field of electricity touches you at all you'll be sucked into the trap. So," he says, looking at Sol, "if we want to try to destroy it, we'll have to do it from a distance." He kicks Antyress's corpse under him. "The Sphere doesn't seem to have an 'embalming mode'."

He turns and looks at the Globe. Stupid magics.

Moritmer looks at Eidi. "Unless you have some kind of really keen plane shifting way to get past the ElectricSphere, I suggest we try the south door back in that Great Hall over there and see if we can go around this room altogether."

F Half Elf:
HP 135, F19R14W16,Dip+13,Fly+7,HanAnim+8;K(rel)+18, Spllcrft +17,UMD +22

Solrisa shrugs and begins walking towards the sphere.

"It's clear that the trappy-trap only holds one person and doesn't seem to hurt them at all, right, Allustan? When I'm inside, someone can smash the trap or make it so it doesn't work. Or explore the secret door," Solrisa smiles at the party, a willing sacrifice for her friends.

She turns and slowly walks into the sphere chamber....giving time for people to stop her or chat more, but we really need to decide a direction.

Male, Gnome

"Sol, wait a second. I say we wait on this room, in the hopes there's another way 'round. If not, YOU are the worst choice for who stays inside. You have an adamantine blade to destroy it. Edie, Eri, and Allustan can try to dispel it. That means either Mort or I go in."

"We have 18 minutes before we have to decide. So let's check that southern door as Mort suggests. If it doesn't loop back, Mort or I go in and we're done until. you break us out. Easy!"

Ascaria finally feels like there's a plan out there he can get behind.

F Half Elf:
HP 135, F19R14W16,Dip+13,Fly+7,HanAnim+8;K(rel)+18, Spllcrft +17,UMD +22

Solrisa smiles, shrugs, and leads where Ascaria points.

Bald male Half-Elf elder

Eidi studies the situation then nods "I have to fully agree with Mortimer and Ascaria's points. We are better exploring the side room for now"

Male Human Fighter (archer) / Sorcerer (stormborn) / Eldritch Knight 1/7/7

"Hmm. Hey, wait a second guys. What if I summon a creature. Do you think it will get stuck in the trap?"

Eri casts summon monster IV to bring in lantern archon(s): 1d3 ⇒ 2 and commands them to enter the room.

Roll20 Link- Age of Worms

Eri brings a pair of Lantern Archons into existence, which proceed to float towards the Tempest Globe. The sphere erupts in lightning, which careens to and fro, through and around the Archons, for several moments. Eventually, the Lantern Archons blip out of existence here, and the eruption of lightning comes to a halt. At no time did one of the two Archons come to occupy the Globe.

With the experiment at an end, the group moves back into the dim, grand hall, and towards the single, southern door. With Solrisa in the lead, the door swings open to reveal what lies beyond.

A set of dusty and archaic armor rests in front of a small shrine, apparently long abandoned. The weapon stand before the armor lies empty, except for flakes of rust. Behind the armor is a small altar loaded with dusty offerings from years past. A statue of a regal Wind Duke sits in a small nook above the altar, and a door is painted on the wall to the right.

Perception DC 25:

There is a recessed spot adjacent to the statue of the Wind Duke. From the less dusty aspect, it appears that something recently occupied this spot.

Roll20 Map has been updated.

Mortimer takes a good look around the room.
PerceptDC25: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (17) + 17 = 34

Please read the spoiler above. Sass, how big is the recessed spot? Are we (not) looking at something rod sized or giant spider sized or what?

Survival: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22

"Eri, do you see any tracks?"

F Half Elf:
HP 135, F19R14W16,Dip+13,Fly+7,HanAnim+8;K(rel)+18, Spllcrft +17,UMD +22

Solrisa strolls into the room and waits to see what others say. She listens to Mort describe the nook that she completely overlooked. She wants to go and touch and explore it and the area around it, but waits a moment.
