Drace Kross

Hi everyone!
As I may have mentioned before my wedding is just a few days away and I'm in the middle of chasing loose ends and getting everything sorted for the big day!
That being said I'm going to be superly crunched for time at this point! Please feel free to DMPC me for the time being if needed!
If I have a moment in the next few days to drop a post I will try!
Between the wedding and honeymoon I am going to be in limbo until June 23rd, but I promise you all, I will be back!
Tara Eliade
Congratulations Drace! I hope that everything runs smoothly and that you have very happy nuptials!
Dr. Stefan Von Herzog
Sorry for going dark. I'm dealing with some family issues right now, and it may be a few more days before I'll have the time and mental energy to post.
GM Harker: Please bot Stefan as needed.
Tara Eliade
Tara will head back to the Lorrimor estate. I'm sorry that I haven't been posting much this week. I got roped into running something for free rpg day for a local gaming store, that I have been busy prepping.
Dr. Stefan Von Herzog
I'm probably going down to just three to five posts a week for the foreseeable future. Work has gotten extremely busy, and I have a few things going on in my personal life that require a lot of work.

If I can recap what we've uncovered so far...
On the death of Petros Lorrimor...
Petros was investigating goings-on at Harrowstone Prison, and suspected that a group calling itself the Whispering Way was up to something nefarious and dangerous. He thought himself in peril, but felt he had to do something. He warned that there are dangerous ghosts or spirits haunting the prison.
On Harrowstone Prison...
Harrowstone Prison was built in 4594 to house violent criminals. Over time, it became the place to send the worst of the worst, particularly those whose crimes warranted execution. In 4661, during a prisoner revolt, a fire broke out killing the warden, his wife, and 22 guards, along with all of the prisoners. Harrowstone was abandoned thereafter.
On the Whispering Way...
The Whispering Way is an anceint organization comprised of necromancers and those who seek immortality through undeath. Tar-Baphon, The Whispering Tyrant, was himself a member. The secrets of the group are never written down, but passed by whisper from one member to another. One of the main goals of the current organization is to free the Whispering Tyrant from his imprisonment. Agents of the Whispering Way explore ruins and haunted places to bind spirits, recruit undead allies, and learn forbidden secrets. Its symbol is a gagged skull. Outsiders who learn too many of the Way's secrets often turn up dead.
Most notorious prisoners of Harrowstone...
Father Charlatan— Sefick Corvin was not technically a murderer, yet his crimes were so blasphemous that several churches demanded he be punished to the full extent of Ustalavic law. Although he claimed to be an ordained priest of any number of faiths, Father Corvin was in fact a traveling con artist who used faith as a mask and a means to bilk the faithful out of money in payment for false miracles or cures. He became known as Father Charlatan after his scheme was exposed and his Sczarni accomplices murdered a half-dozen city guards in an attempt to make good the group’s escape.
The Mosswater Marauder— Only 5 years before his hometown of Mosswater was destined to be overrun and ruined by monsters from the nearby river, Ispin Onyxcudgel was a well-liked artisan and a doting husband. When he discovered his wife’s infidelity, he flew into a jealous rage and struck her dead with his hammer, shattering her skull and his sanity with one murderous blow. Wracked with shame and guilt, Ispin became convinced that if he could rebuild his wife’s skull she would come back to life—but unfortunately, he could not find the last blade-shaped fragment from the murder site. So instead, Ispin became the Mosswater Marauder. Over the course of several weeks, the cunning dwarf stalked and murdered nearly 20 people while searching for just the right skull fragment. He was captured just before murdering the daughter of a visiting nobleman from Varno, and was carted off to Harrowstone that same night.
The Piper of Illmarsh— (Real name unknown) Before he snatched his victims, the Piper taunted his targets with a mournful dirge on his flute. He preferred to paralyze lone victims by dosing their meals with lich dust and then allowed his pet stirges to drink the victims dry of blood.
The Splatter Man— Hean Feramin was a celebrated scholar of Anthroponomastics (the study of personal names and their origins) at the Quartrefaux Archives in Caliphas. Yet an accidental association with a succubus twisted and warped his study, turning it into an obsession. Feramin became obsessed with the power of a name and how he could use it to terrify and control. Soon enough, his reputation was ruined, he’d lost his tenure, and he’d developed an uncontrollable obsession with an imaginary link between a person’s name and what happens to that name when the person dies. Every few days, he would secretly arrange for his victim to find a letter from her name written in blood, perhaps smeared on a wall or spelled out with carefully arranged entrails. Once he had spelled his victim’s name, he would at last come for her, killing her in a gory mess using a complex trap or series of rigged events meant to look like an accident.
The Lopper— [not yet researched]
Strange childrens' rhyme...
"Put her body on the bed / Take a knife lop off her head. ...The Lopper?
Watch the blood come out the pipe / Feeds the stirge so nice and ripe. ...The Piper of Illmarsh?
Drops of red so sparkly bright / Splatters spell her name just right. ...The Splatter Man?
With a hammer killed his wife / Now he wants to claim your life. ...Mosswater Marauder?
Tricksy father tells a lie / Listen close or you will die." ...Father Charlatan?
Items recovered from the false crypt in the Restlands...
10 +1 arrows
5 +1 ghost touch arrows
2 +1 undead bane arrows
7 potions of cure light wounds
2 potions of lesser restoration
a spirit planchette and spirit board
4 haunt siphons
Strange events in town...
—Stirges attacked the tavern Echoes of The Piper of Illmarsh?
—Spontaneous fire in the Town Hall; attack by flying, burning skulls
—Walking dead are escaping the Restlands Cemetary
—Farmer Gibs became possessed and was writing someone's name in blood on Harrowstone Memorial. ("VE...") Echoes of The Splatter Man?
GM Harker
Thank you for the synopsis, Stefan.
As of the moment, we have 2 votes for starting immediately with the prison, 1 vote for researching the last name first, and 2 abstentions. It looks like Sentir can either provide a majority or dead lock the group.
If I don't hear anything by Sunday from him and/or no one changes their vote, I'll assume the group goes to the prison next.
Dr. Stefan Von Herzog
I know it's bending the rules slightly, but if we switch to Stefan's roll being the main one and everyone else using the "aid another" action, we'd be at 26 already...
Dr. Stefan Von Herzog
Question for the GM...
I just looked at everyone's character sheets, and not a one of us has a bow. Tara carries a crossbow, and I was thinking that Stefan might pick one up too. (As a party, we're pretty weak on ranged attacks.) Would it be possible to err on that some of the magic arrows we recovered were really crossbow bolts? Otherwise, we're going to have to sell them all off for half price.
This is metagaming, but if a module provides the PCs an unexpectedly powerful magic item in Act I, the PCs are really going to need it in Act III...
Tara Eliade
Vivian, I personally do not have the gold to help pool for a shortbow. I still only have the one gold that I started with, but I would be more than happy to forfeit my share of the loot if it means that someone else can afford a ranged weapon.
GM Harker
If there is no objection from one of the other players, I'm fine with the arrows being crossbow bolts in this instance. Whether I'll allow a change like this in the future depends on how well the group manages against future encounters.
I believe we are still waiting for Sentir to update his character, but I'm going to start the prison portion in the next couple of days. If you want to make purchases/sell gear now is the time to do so.
