Kywin the White and Kayahidye look good overall!

If you two are free to check each other's stats, or if someone else is free to check their stats, that would be great.

I didn't say anything about drawbacks, but if people want to take a Paizo drawback for an extra Paizo trait, go for it.

Kywin, I did say Paizo material only unless otherwise approved, but if you want to keep the Curious drawback, I would request the following change. Instead of:
"Curious: when taking 10 or 20 on a skill checks in jungles or swamps it takes 2x as long"
could you make it:
"Curious: when taking 10 or 20 on a skill checks in any new or unfamiliar environment it takes 2x as long"
The original just seems overly specific to me. However, the idea of you playing up that drawback in character sounds great!

So, we've now got nine female character submissions, including:
Kywin the White the NG Arcanist White Mage - White-fur-blessed Kitsune
Kayahidye the LG Lotus Monk - Catfolk Standard Aasimar

I'm still accepting submissions for two more hours.

First game post will come tomorrow. :)

How many people get in?

Dark Archive

Just wanted to stop by and mention that I updated Andrei's background in his profile. Also, that I'm looking forward to your decisions. :)

While I am not intending to submit to this game I am going to follow it to see how it turns out. This is most fascinating.

In that case, added a drawback and a trait. It should affect very little, but will be a bit more fun to have a flaw to role-play.

And as far as I can tell, Kywin's crunch looks all in order now.

*Rereads 1st post... facepalms*
How did I miss that? Sorry.
I will happily make the adjustment. Thank you.

Tweaked character a lil bit:

added profession artist and took out perform sing.

Couple questions: there are no paint supplies, so what should I get to simulate this. Also

1 person marked this as a favorite.

And, that's it! Recruitment is closed for this game.

Many thanks to the sixteen who submitted characters. Feel free to keep tinkering with minor mechanics, starting equipment, and background stories until we get going. You will also be free to change out your languages, deity-specific, and country-specific background information once I post more about the World.

Expect a PM sometime tomorrow if you have been chosen. The gameplay and discussion threads will open tomorrow as well, with some information about the World and the first gameplay post. After that, you will need to post in character in the gameplay thread at least once by the following weekend to be considered active in the game.

Now, I'm off to consider some dream question answers, look over some exciting celestial characters, and plan some story details. :)

Good luck all!

Yes, best of luck fellow good-doers!

Good luck to everyone!

We'll see who has the last laugh! Muahahaha!

Spoiler:
...wait, that's my tiefling character. Whoops. Good luck, everybody.

Aeryth/Cricket, I've got a few questions/comments/suggestions!

------------------------

I'm guessing "longsword focus" is "weapon focus (longsword)"?

It looks like you're always presuming that you're going to be power attacking with your longsword, but you might want to note the +8 attack/1d8+5 dmg without it, too.

------------------------

I'm not actually following your diplomacy modifier, though (+2 ranks, +3 class, +1 charisma, +1 trait = +7?). Where's the extra +2 coming from?

------------------------

Also, for your armor, I recommend against the one you chose. Yes, you maximized your armor AC, but you needlessly penalized yourself both in money and in dexterity to do so.

Instead of o-yori, go with studded leather. [-295g cost; -2 lbs.]

piece meal armor (heavy) [+9 AC, +3 max DEX, -4 acp, 40% asf, 43 lbs, 213g, slow speed]
plate +6 +3 -4 35% 30 lbs. 200g slow
scale (arm) +1 +3 -2 15% 10 lbs. 10g normal
studded leather (leg) +1 +6 0 10% 3 lbs. 5g normal

You end up with the same AC, but you can use your DEX better, and you end up with 240 more gold (and 2 lbs lighter).

Your fighter's kit contains:
Kit, Fighter's

Price 9 gp; Weight 29 lbs.

This kit includes a backpack, a bedroll, a belt pouch, a flint and steel, an iron pot, a mess kit, rope, soap, torches (10), trail rations (5 days), and a waterskin.

Currently:
9g (kit)+10 (arms)+300 (legs)+200 (torso)+150 (mwk arm/shld)+7 (shld)+300 (mwk wpn)+15 (wpn) = 991 gold spent; 9 gold remaining.
(That's as you say.)

With my proposed changes, you could get:
9g (kit)+10 (arms)+5 (legs)+200 (torso)+150 (mwk arm/shld)+7 (shld)+300 (mwk wpn)+15 (wpn) = 687 gold spent; 313 gold remaining.

If you wanted, that would let you spend 150 on making your armor masterwork as well, leaving you with 163. Alternatively, you could spend 200 gold to make your plate into an agile plate, negating any and all armor check penalties for climbing and jumping. (Much later, hypothetically, at least, you could pay for a Masterwork Transformation spell later, to transform it into a masterwork armor), leaving you with 113g currently.

------------------------

You've left out your 1/day alter self, and your skill bonus to Heal and Knowledge (planes).

------------------------

It looks like your ability scores are off, and not necessarily because you traded in your spell-like for an extra +2.

Your spread should have (before racial adjustments, presuming you didn't trade your spell-like for an ability score):
18 STR, 15 DEX, 11 CON, 10 INT, 10 WIS, 10 CHA
or
18 STR, 14 DEX, 13 CON, 10 INT, 10 WIS, 10 CHA

Instead, it looks like this:
18 STR, 16 DEX, 14 CON, 10 INT, 10 WIS, 10 CHA

If you did trade for the extra +2, then it should look like this before racials:
16 STR, 16 DEX, 14 CON, 12 INT, 10 WIS, 10 CHA (rotate the INT/WIS/CHA to get the proper one to 12, as desired)
or
16 STR, 14 DEX, 14 CON, 14 INT, 10 WIS, 10 CHA (rotate the INT/WIS/CHA to get the proper one to 14, as desired; alternatively, two could be 12s and one an 11)

Instead, it looks like this:
16 STR, 16 DEX, 14 CON, 10 INT, 10 WIS, 10 CHA

I'd recommend the 16/16/14/12/10/10 myself and trading out the alter self - it requires the least finagling/changing of your stats. Also, if you start your charisma with the extra 12, it becomes 14, and your diplomacy becomes +8 and your intimidate +7. You'll still want to note your extra +2 in heal and knowledge (planes) (though you won't be able to exceed a DC 10 (planes) check, you'll be more likely to make it!). If you put your 12 into INT, you gain 1 whole skill point. If you put it into wisdom, you gain a +1 will save, perception, and sense motive.

Hope that helps!

Good luck, everyone!

Next level I get Armour Training which gives me +1 max dex on all armours, I'm simply planning ahead.

Before Racial I have Str 16 Dex 16 Con 14 Int, Wis, Cha 10
16=10pts. 14=5pts. How can I have 16, 16, 14, 12, 10, 10?

Fixing skills, forgot about the alts

Anything else?

As far as planning ahead goes, while often wise, I'd recommend against it in this case, as I think you're planning too far ahead! I think the GM has stated that the level-ups would be slow, and, with only one in-game post per week planned, it's not going to be rapid anyway.

I strongly suspect that you'd be able to afford/acquire "better" armor before next level regardless. By that level you'll have gained 2k (on average, above what we currently have) sell your current stuff for 1/2 cost, and then easily by the superior stuff at the time. Alternatively, I'm pretty sure you'll make at least 300 gold before you level up, at which point swapping the studded leather legs for o-yori legs is a natural fit...

Additionally, if you "downgraded" your armor to a masterwork version of:

piece meal armor (medium) [+8 AC, +4 max DEX, -5 acp, 35% asf, 48 lbs, 50g, slow speed]
four-mirror +5 +4 -5 30% 40 lbs. 20g slow
lamellar, horn (arm) +1 +5 -2 25% 5 lbs. 25g normal
leather, studded (leg) +1 +5 0 10% 3 lbs. 5g normal
+8/+4/-5/48lbs/50g/slow speed

You could then buy an armored kilt, get the same +9 AC/+3 DEX/-3 acp as you've currently got (-5 reduced by 1 for mwk reduced by 1 for your trait), and spend a total of 220 gold instead of the 650 you're currently paying for. And again, later, when you've netted 300 gold (or 350 gold for mwk version), swap out your studded leather legs for o-yori legs.

EDIT: Even better make it scale (arm) for a lower DEX bonus of +3, and only costing 10 g instead of 25g! Then you're only paying 205! :D (It's max DEX is +3, while it's acp and other values are othwerise the same.)

As far as stats go: agh! Because I made a mistake (probably because of an older copy/paste error)! Boy is my face red! (No, really, though at least partially that's because of the Niacin. XD)

Otherwise, it sounds good! :)

I, like some people, have decided to take a drawback. So I've picked up the trait Spirit Talker and the drawback Oppressive Expectations.

Dark Archive

I don't think I'll be taking a drawback. I already had trouble figuring out what traits to take, I don't think I could think of another one. ;)

I'd take twenty or so, if I had the chance. Most of them giving overlapping bonuses to diplomacy... >.<

Haha, awesome. I don't think I've ever had that issue.

Dark Archive

It happens sometimes. I don't know why.

Wishing every one all the very best.

Just have to tweak the starting equipment. (^_^)

Trait bonuses don't stack actually. i.e. if you took 'Under Siege' which gives you a +1 to Bluff and a +1 to Sense Motives and then took 'Smuggler' which gives a +1 Bluff and +1 to 'Sleight of Hand'. It would only give a total bonus of +1 'Bluff', +1 'Sense Motive' and +1 'Sleight of Hand'.

That's why I said "overlapping" instead of "stacking". I know they don't stack. I just like the flavor.

EDIT: Mmmmmmmmmm, flavor.
EDIT 2: It's the same reason I often want multiple flaws. :D
EDIT 3: So very very very much awesome and yummy delicious exquisite role playing flavor for all!
