GM is there a post, I cant seem to find it, with the spellbook she found in the Riftwarden Enclave?

Current map: Mushfens River

The few legible pages of the book from Black Wing Library contain:
alarm, dismissal, dispel magic, magic circle against chaos, resist energy, and versatile weapon.

Thanks!

You are all entering the final major encounter of the first book of this AP! Congrats!

I'll be nice and let you know that this AP is structured so that if you get in over your head you can run away. If you do, though, the enemies will get reinforcements. Ideally as you learn what kinds of enemies are in the garrison, you will be able to adjust your tactics in order to be able to beat them!

We haven't "missed" anything, have we? I'm always worried when playing an AP about something like this happening. I know APs aren't like video games, and we ARE splitting things up into both threads to cover more ground, but I'm admittedly paranoid...

I don't believe so, though with the switchover of DMs it's always hard to tell for certain.

I did split some of the content between the two groups, but I made additional material to fill it out.

AC 16 Mage Amor, touch 12, flat-footed 10 (+2 Dex) hp 48 (7d6) Fort +3, Ref +5, Will +8(+1 Trait bonus to disbelieve illusions); +2 vs. enchantments Defensive Abilities resistance; Immune sleep; Resist fire 5

At least by 6th level she will be able to take her PRC and there are some pretty neat feats that can help with the favored class and favored PRC stuff.

Current map: Mushfens River

I'm glad to hear you are having a good time! I know there were some bad starts and stops in the earlier days. Since we are hitting the final piece of the AP, I think the odds are good that we can actually finish book 1 and get into the mythic parts!

AC 16 Mage Amor, touch 12, flat-footed 10 (+2 Dex) hp 48 (7d6) Fort +3, Ref +5, Will +8(+1 Trait bonus to disbelieve illusions); +2 vs. enchantments Defensive Abilities resistance; Immune sleep; Resist fire 5

I am looking forward to that. What level are we expected to be at the end of Book 1?

Current map: Mushfens River

You'll probably be 5th level. Normally the progression puts you at 6th at the verrrry end of the book, but you have a larger-than-normal group.

Just to let you all know, my posting will slow down this week as I'm joining my family on a trip to Chicago! I'll post if I have a spare moment, but if things need to move along, please bot my character. Thank you! :)

Starting this combat will be kind of a lengthy post, so I will need to do it tomorrow - dealing with too many crises tonight.

Hey, now that I have a higher BAB, are you okay with me retraining my MWP (Longsword) once we have a quiet moment? I'm thinking of switching to EWP (rhomphaia). "Use it like a spear, use it like a sword. Cut a man clean in two. Nice."

Current map: Mushfens River

That's fine.

Male Tiefling (Pitborn) Bard (Filidh) 7|HP: 88/88|AC: 15/10/15|Saves: +3 Fort, +5 Ref, +5 Will|Init: +0|Perc: +12

Actually I was wrong: a rhomphaia is actually a martial weapon, so even better! Still, I'll have to wait to retrain until we have a proper breather, not while liberating the Gray Garrison...

Telerin, was that dismiss command directed at me? Not asking in an indignant way, just looking for clarification. You just said "dismiss the spell" with no clear indication of who you're talking to.

Yes, it was directed to the druid.

So, please let me get this correct!
You, Telerin, had the druid dismiss his spell (which I was appreciating), because you couldn't adjust, so that you can cast daze? It's a cantrip that doesn't even affect Outsiders!
Well played! I find it offensive when one player demands that another player change his/her actions for them. It seems a bit selfish to me.

Jesse, I apologize, but I have been debating sayin
Daze!

There's wiggle room for people to make mistakes. Not everyone is going to know every rule, or know everything about your enemies at all times. More important that you give each other the benefit of the doubt (and hugs), because your enemies won't!

Let's all take a step back and de-escalate.

It's OK to bring up issues like these in discussion, but let's start from the position of helping each other out. We have a range of experience levels with the game system here (and it is without a doubt a complicated game system) as well as different motivations for what and how we play.

Perhaps

Current map: Mushfens River

You know a couple of wizards, both Aravashnial and Quednys. And Riftwardens focus in portal magic. So it's not that far-fetched. :)

I am not averse to meddling with stupid DCs ("adventure over because you couldn't open a door" is dumb) but if there are viable alternatives, well, go for those. :)

Male Angelkin Aasimar Paladin 6 Crimson Templar 1 Init +5; darkvision 60 ft.; Perception +9; HP: 87/87; AC 23, touch 12, flat-footed 24 (+7 armor, +2 Dex, +3 Shield, +1 Natural); F +15, R +10, W +10; +2 vs. evil, +2 vs Insanity or Confusion

Uriel is all for smashing the door down. Sure, it's noisy and they know we're here, but if we leave they'll notice the dead guards and have even more time to prepare for our return.

Current map: Mushfens River

That could, of course, work to your advantage, if someone opens the door from the inside to check on the guards or change shift.

Male Human (Taldan) Cleric 5 | Loot
Status:
AC: 16/10/16, HP 31/40; Init 0

Let's do some math.

The break DC for a barred door is 25. It's an ability check, so a d20 + Str_Mod >= 25.

That's a pretty tall order. Assuming we could buff someone's Str to 20, you'd need a 20 to succeed. That's a 5% chance of success.

A strong wooden door has hardness 5 and 20 hp. With Uriel's average damage it would take 3 rounds to break open. Arloric can probably help, though, to speed that up.

But this is assuming the doors are wood. If they are stone...the break DC may not change (the bar is probably wood), but the hardness will jump to 8 and the hp jump to 30+. And that puts us at 6+ rounds to break in with Uriel's average damage. Arloric may still be able to help, and cut that maybe in half, but no one else can.

I am willing to try it. I can cast Silence to cover the sound of the door being beaten, but we'll only get that for 3 rounds. After that, we are attracting a lot of attention.

Current map: Mushfens River

They're wood.

Male Human (Taldan) Cleric 5 | Loot
Status:
AC: 16/10/16, HP 31/40; Init 0

If they're wood, then let's do it. We just have to decide to do the doors or the shutter.

Advantage of choosing the shutter: it's not the front door.
