The Codex is here for some subscribers already. Anyone else who have given it a flip through what is your favorite from it so far.

I am currently in love with the Dragonet ancestry especially the homing dragonet. I have a bunch of ideas for an upcoming Starfinder game if my GM will let me play one!

I think this is my favorite book so far for all of 2e.

Otilaz the One of All. Who would have thought that dragons could have a touch of Cosmic Horror's utter uncaring alien-ness?

The Empyrean Dragon lawyer who won her trial by eating the opposing council.

The Dragonets.

It's just page after page after page of amazing stuff.

By the way the final Metallic dragon that we didn't know the fate of gold dragons we now know for sure are

Gold Dragon New Name:
Vizier Dragon, the book confirms this by calling out the name of known Gold dragons as Vizier dragons now like Mengkare.

Oh yeah, I don't have it yet even though I have a shipping notification.

Has Subscriber Day not become a thing yet?

Have you checked recently, specifically on the store library and not the forums digital content? They said they were having issues initially with the pdfs showing in the library but they found the bug and that it should be fixed. So if your card was charged you should have it. When I started this tread the last update is that they were over halfway through processing all subscriber payments. For me the items were in my library about an hour before I got a notification of payment tho.

Yesterday was subscribers day it just got drawn out by bugs with the new store.

Good catch, its in my store library but not digital content.

Thank you for the tech support!

Well they at least fixed the issue with the three Imperial Dragons with burst-shaped breath weapons (even if it was in the least interesting way possible) as draconic exemplars for various draconic PC options, still disappointed they didn't fix the draconic sorcerer's advanced focus spell, so a rime draconic sorcerer for whatever reason still breathes fire. They really don't seem to like PCs having access to the more interesting breath weapon shapes like the stormcrowns single (initial) target chain lightning breath what with how many are just cones now. Bog dragons also got their breath weapon changed to a cone instead of a line with their remaster change from black dragons. Two of the 4 breath weapons that are lines are bludgeoning water, then there's the requiem's line of spirit, and as a draconic exemplar stormcrown's line of electricity.

Barrage dragons are cool, though I still think at least the 5th rank sorcerous gift spell the bloodline grants should've been Force Barrage (5th rank).

was most interested in the new archetype

must say the new dragon of monster core 1 and 2 are much better than the boring stuff inherited from dnd

hope there are new feat correspond with each new type of dragon

What is the Dragonet Ancestry, can you tell us more. Also how cool is the Dragon Acolyte archetype!?

It's VERY similar to the Sprite ancestry. Tiny sized, cute, progressive flight feats, different flavours as 1st level feats, option to be small sized instead, but with a breath weapon which recharges on a 1d4.

ElementalofCuteness wrote:

Its neat. Its one of those "a little something for everyone" style archetypes. Its dedication feat is beefy, and it has 12 feats all told. Does everything from granting flight options, a couple of defensive options, some AoE damage and fear options, at first glance "Deepening Devotion" might be nuts. Also gives the ability to access an extradimensional space to store a hoard in.

Favorite thing is I'm really happy to see draconic kobold options to have a bit of the old kobold flavor if anyone wants it

I only got glimpses from Phoebe Bane's stream, but the bog dragons being able to make bog mummies (even if unreliably) is exactly what I wanted from them. The fact that they hoard undead heroes to force them to retell tales of their lives forever? Incredible. Much better hooks than the old black dragon.

My favorite stuff will probably have to wait until I get the book myself on December 3, but it seems really cool.

There are a couple of the new dragons I’m reading through and saying to myself “oh, you’re a Dark Souls boss”

Verdant Wheel

I'm curious, what is the Dragonet's stat array?

Also, I'm guessing it's a Rare ancestry?

Really glad we're getting another Tiny ancestry though! I really want to play Tiny ancestries, but the selection options in PFS is...tiny.

Yup, they're rare. +Dex, +Cha, Free, -Con for default abilities.

Could we get more information on the draconic deities (name, title, area of concern, holy/unholy)?

Also, which is your favourite (or to which will a future character of yours be devoted)?

Please & thank you.

Carry on,

I heard there's a very interesting summon spell that essentially functions as a sustained force barrage so long as the minions aren't popped.

IS there any Dragon Eidolons or is Summoner just dead.

Also is there a sustained force barrage, what is it called!? What Spell Tradition is it!?

Dragon disciple is back? neat

now I can put more dragon in my dragon by playing a Kobold with Dragonblood heritate, picking additional draconic kobold feats, be a draconic sorcerer with draconic acolyte archetype
with ancestral paragon I can take up even more draconic racial feats
with dual classing or free archetype I can take up a dragonstyle monk or draconic barbarian
and I am sure I will find some sort of dragon worshipper background

make way dnd, if I go dungeoneering I am fitting in more dragon per square cube then you ever could

Yo! I heard you liked dragons so I put some dragons in your dragons.

We already knew it didn't have any because Summoner isn't remastered yet, right? There's already a dragon eidolon that, when remastered, should work with all the dragons in here, same as Sorcerer, Barbarian, etc.

It's an arcane Summon Dragon for a barrage dragon, I think.

I noticed something interesting about Archdragons. The level formula for dragons is pretty consistent. 4 levels between Young and Adult, 5 between Adult and Ancient. For most dragons, there are 3 levels between Ancient and Archdragon, but not all. The Empyreal and Requiem Archdragons are 4 levels higher than Ancients, and the Resurrection Archdragon is a whopping 6 levels higher than the Ancient version (23 vs 17).

(Unless noted, they are all "Can choose Holy or Unholy".)

Brixori, the Wayward Sister. The Dragon-Librarian, complete with a big hat and spellbooks.
Gaasham, the Architect. Planned successor to Dahak as the Favorite Son. Can choose Holy.
Garhaazh, the Primal King. Might makes right, conquer all you can. Can choose Unholy.
Otilaz, the One of All. Entropy always wins. ALWAYS.
Sarshallatu, the Thundering Song. She was infinite, but she never quite has accepted things not being infinite, even Apsu. Disappointed with everything.
Turvu, the Shifting Plane. Hear all sides of any argument, with context.
Yluma, the Living Page. Holds herself together only with the power of magic. Can choose holy.

Sustained Force Barrage is... an oversimplification. Horde of Underlings is a Rare 3rd level spell for all traditions that summons two minions per spell level. That are small or medium creatures with 1 hp and are almost impossible to miss. But they each do 1d4 physical damage automatically to an adjacent enemy, and the first time you sustain the spell they can move 20 feat and potentially do the damage again.

Heck yea. That's a minionmancy spell right there! That's awesome

I was expecting Draconic Acolyte to be a reprint of Dragon Disciple, but they're really pretty different.

So what is this "Deepening Devotion" Dragon Acolyte Spell?

ElementalofCuteness wrote:

It's not a spell, it's a feat. Basically it lets you bump up a degree of success on a spell of the tradition your dragon powers come from. When you first get the ability you can only use it on critical failures, I believe, but Deepening Devotion lets it apply to failures and successes as well. It's a bit niche, IMO, but still pretty darn potent for a 10th level feat.

Excuse me it does WHAT!?

Cognates

When you say "apply to critical failures" does this only work for spell attack rolls then? If so that's strong but honestly not the worst thing in the world.

BotBrain wrote:

It's to improve your saves against one tradition, with the appropriate setup. Spell attack rolls don't enter the picture.

Oh that's not nearly as impressive as I read it. I was expecting to be like, upgrade Fireball from a sucess/failure to a critical one. Way to massively increase damage.

Horde of Underlings on any list has me grinning ear to ear. Clerics summoning a horde of cherubs at endgame sounds tight. Or a druid unleashing a pack of wolves. Or a psychic manifesting a mob of psychic echoes. The possibilities are endless! Bypassing the to hit struggles of traditional summon spells is the cherry on top.

Very excited to snatch this book up in a couple weeks.

What are the draconic pacts like, and what sort of stuff do they give you? I'm imagining they're related to Pactbinder, but it'd be interesting if they were a separate system instead.

It sadly doesn't do energy damage, but it's still super flavorful and fun. I do really like how it expressly lets you flavor your minions, using skeletons as one of the examples; it looks really cool.

IIRC it also doesn't require saves, it just does the damage, so it's an easy pickup for martials dipping into some casting, or someone like a magus or summoner. Summoning echoes of your eidolon would be really cool.

Kinda sucks that there's no new Primal Dragon keyed to the Planes of Metal and Wood... Hopefully those will come soon.

The Dragonet looks fun, again hopefully with new heritages based on other regions.

They are invested items starting at 6th level and there are different pacts every 3 levels. Each pact grants a unique daily ability that sales with levels.

The lowest one gives a 1d6/level breath weapon.

Each pact allows your bound dragon to do something to or through you.

They all have a penalty if someone breaks the pact.

Ohhh. I see. I read it as spells you cast, not spells cast against you.

They're formatted very similarly to the infernal/Thrune contracts we saw in some earlier books, if that helps anyone conceptualize them. There is some extra language about the bad stuff that can happen to you and the dragon should either of you break the pact, which I don't think was in earlier pacts.

Actually most of the classic primal dragons have been keyed away from the elemental planes, and the imperial Forest dragon is now keyed to the Plane of Wood. So now we only have Brine and Forest as elemental dragons, though its stated in the book that the other imperial dragons do originate from the elemental planes.

What's that? A new common occult unique spell? That robs an enemy of an action on a success and can repeat on a fail or worse? And it stacks with other forms of action denial? Why, you shouldn't have.

If only it had better than 15ft of range, but we'll take it.

So...

Sovereign = Plane of Earth
Underworld = Plane of Fire

...I guess?

10 New spells

-Armor of Thorn and Claw: Uncommon Primal 1. Spout thorns that hurt people who touch you, and cause those who ise their body to grab, restrain, etc. to bleed.
-Blood Feasting Breath: Uncommon Divine/Occult 5. A weak 30 foot cone of void damage, but you project a second cone that heals people based on the damage you deal.
-Channel Arrogance: Uncommon Arcane/Occult 4. 1 or 3 actions. Deals mental damage and fascinates, with those who fail potentially losing auditory actions and spells to praise you. The 1 action spell inproves the degree of success of the save by 1 (Thematically, how much power you put into the spell depends on whether or not you think the target is worth more than a moment of your time)
-Cloud Current: Uncommon Arcane/Primal 4. Summon a miles long cloud that lasts for a long time and makes people flying in one direction faster.
-Dvine Dragons Wrath: Uncommon Divine 5. Spend 10 minutes to set up a reaction that keeps the target from going to 0 hp if you can see the enemy, and send the guardian spirit to do some slight spirit damage to the enemy when you expend the reaction.
-Dragon Turret: Uncommon All traditions 10. Create a tower with a dragon climbing on it. Sustain the spell for up to 10 minutes to have the dragon deal 13d8 damage of a type based on your tradition in a 60 feet cone each round.
-Earth and Sky: Uncommon Arcane and Primal 6. Fly up to 100 feet in the air, then fall gently. Everyone else in a 20 feet emanation makes a fortitude save. If they don't critically succeed, they're thrown the same distance up, but don't get the gentle landing. If they fail, they can't arrest the fall, either.
-Horde of Underlings: Described above.
-Orb of Twisting Fate: Common Occult 7. Create an Omen Dragon's orb above the targets head if they don't criticlaly succeed a will save. Each turn, they use their first action to ponder the orb in place or chaee the pretty colors in a random direction. Success lasts 1 round, Failure gets a new save at the end of each round, critical failure lasts a full minute.

Check your account through the new store interface if you haven't already; the new PDFs don't seem to show up in the old library, but do through the Paizo store.

Or, if you've done that, reach out to customer service. I think they're having teething troubles with the new storefront. I somehow wound up with the book even though I never ordered it, for example, and had to reach out to them to get it corrected. (Not that I at all minded getting a free book, mind you.)

I'm getting strong Green Knight vibes from a fighter with a Draconic Oath to a Vorpal dragon.

From an art standpoint, the despair dragon has a creepy aspect and a crazy look in their eyes, that really speaks to me.

6 people marked this as a favorite.

Just found a new favorite thing; the page of description and field notes that fronts each dragon's entry in the bestiary.

That is so profoundly helpful in helping folks who can't see the art, like myself, know what each dragon looks like!

Draconic Codex Overview for Pathfinder 2e

I have now discovered the Delight Dragon, and how I would no surprised if dragons of that type would enjoy pranking various cruel or controlling figures.

Are dragons now "neutrally aligned" or are there still traces of "this dragon is 100% evil", while "that dragon is 100% good", barring planar citizens which may adhere to the plane's own morality?
