Iconic class items?

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

I'd like to offer my group the opportunity to do a solo (1gm 1 pc) sidequest during downtime. Is there any iconic class items that I could offer any given class that currently exists? This would be level 15+ pc's but if theres anything thats not totally broken for lower level I would consider. Not asking about the adventure itself, just any items worthwhile that might have unique class-specific components

Nothing leaps to mind that's CLASS specific. I think you'd have to design something CHARACTER specific. There's categories, like martials always like weapons, certain defensive builds can always use armor or a shield, wizards get staves, and so on.

Actually, that's about all I can think of: for a wizard maybe a staff of power. Otherwise it's kind of up to you and your PCs. Another thing to think about, at level 15+... what about something other than an item? Castles, estates, armies... these are all cool, somewhat "iconic" boons to hand out to high-level PCs. Heck, at that level what about a private island or a demiplane?

You're talking about level 15 PCs. If they don't have artifacts yet, go through that section and consider dropping a minor artifact on each of them. Favor style over function.

If any of them are struggling in their role, find something that will give them an upgrade they wouldn't be able to get otherwise.

For players that aren't struggling, give them an item that offers them an ability they wouldn't have access to otherwise. Just take a little time to think if an item would be really annoying if the PC tried to use it all of the time before you introduce it.

Intelligent items are also something to consider. If they have spell like abilities you control those, so they make for fairly good high level rewards.

And if you want class specific items...how about providing a list of classes?

Only one I can think of is the Holy Avenger.

For Slayers/Rogues/Investigators there is the Shifting Jerkin.

There are also Slayer's Robes and Monk's Robes, and Swashbuckler's Flair, and that Hat for Bards, and the Banner of Ancient Kings, and I think it's a sash for Fighters...

Sorcerer's have a couple - Robes of Arcane Heritage, Sorcerer's Robe. Then there are a couple of items that are really just awesome for a sorcerer's versatility - Mnemonic Robe and Ring of Spell Knowledge...

Blessed Book for wizards, perhaps, is that still a thing?

By level 16, you should probably already have most class specific items.

Which classes are you talking about, anyway? It seems a little wasteful to be dredging up items for the dozens of classes and hundreds of archetypes out there when you're actually talking about just a handful of classes.

Bane baldric. The gun with unlimited ammo. Holy avenger.
