Interest Check: Many, Many Ideas (Various Systems)

Recruitment

Hello Paizo,

I've been trying to get back into GMing for a while and it's been really hit and miss. Part of that is that I have far too many ideas and focusing on one to try to get a campaign or module going has been rough. So I thought I'd spell out a number of ideas that I have for Pathfinder and other systems and check to see what people thought of different ones and which might get a strong response from potential players if I did a recruitment.

Pathfinder
It's the End of the World as We Know It: Evil has attempted to conquer the world again and again and heroes have risen with each occurrence to try to defend the world. But heroes don't always win. Dark empires rise up to find enemies with very similar goals at every border while the forces of good try to rally to new heroes to make a last stand against the darkness. A pseudo post-apocalyptic Golarion story where the villains of the various APs won their final battles, creating a world mostly ruled by feuding empires and powerful warlords. New heroes are needed to free the world from their clutches and restore peace and freedom. Going for a higher power game focusing on epic heroes and world changing adventures.

The Shards of the Empire: Imperial Lung Wa collapsed many years ago, but it's Successor States still squabble and occasionally war with each other, each vying to make a place for themselves in the world now that they've thrown off imperial control. But dangerous forces seek to claim the shards of the empire for themselves and forge a new empire, under their crushing dominion. A story based on samurai and kung fu movies set in the heart of Tian Xia and focusing on individual heroism and honor in defense of your homes again evil forces.

Across the Outer Planes: The Material Plane is just one world among many, but some travel between the realms, seeking their fame and fortune. But a secret threat lurks somewhere beyond the realm of mortals and if not stopped, it may succeed in erasing Golarion entirely. An extraplanar focused game of intrigue and adventure as the players try to unravel the machinations of a sinister cult that could spell the end of the world as they know it.

Other Systems
The Third Age of Creation (Exalted 2e): The Glorious Reclamation has failed and the lords of hell remain imprisoned, but the Realm is in tatters. A new empress takes the throne in a time when the throne's reach is crippled and the world becomes a more dangerous place for everyone. But that matter not. You are Exalted. Go forth and claim your place in a changed world. A relatively standard Exalted game, including all the high power ridiculousness and world shattering events that can include.

Chronicle of Nightwood (Chronicles of Darkness 2e): Nightwood is an ordinary little college town in the middle of nowhere really important. Sure some hikers go missing every once in a while and there are always some ghost stories and urban legends around, but that's just how small towns are. The perfect place to grow up. And it's not like those stories are real. Right? A modern fantasy WoD game focusing on the slightly more than mortal characters like psychics, ghouls, and the like. Possibly taking inspirations from the Innocents splat to play teenagers discovering their powers. Think something like X-Men or Stranger Things.

Deathworld (Savage Worlds): They won. World War 2 was a s$$~ show and those Nazi bastards won. They had to use actual demons to do it, but they did. But it's not the end of the world quite yet. Everyone's getting this magic thing worked out, or at least managed some kinda new-fangled super tech to match up. The world isn't theirs just yet. A supernatural alternate history setting I've been working on for a long time of a world left very, very different by the discovery of magic during the early days of WW2. A sort of war story/action movie tone focusing on heroes fighting to stop the over the top machinations of those damned Nazi bastards. If you've seen the new Wolfenstein games, you have the right sort of idea.

I like It's TEOTWAWKI and Gestalt or Tristalt would be cool but I also have a high level character that has been inactive for about 20 years. Or I can always create a new one. Another cool Pathfinder system to use for It's the End of the World as We Know It is Mythic 6, it is still Epic but it keeps things from being too chaotic (it works very well). I will add the link later or you can search for it.

Across the Worlds peeked my interest as well.

Deathworld looks cool too but I don't have the system.

Also, any chance that we can use:

1. Path of War by Dreamscarred - d20pfsrd Wiki
2. Ultimate Psionics by Dreamscarred - d20pfsrd Wiki (although some material is not up do date)
3. Spheres of Power - http://spheresofpower.wikidot.com/

The apocalypse game would be starting mid-level and going to pretty damn high and possibly mythic.

Yes to Path of War, no to Psionics and Spheres. This applies to all of the PF games.

When I get home, I'll get you the M6 Link, you may like it. I surely did before the game ended and I usually like Epic Characters.

Cool I can live with the POW System only.

Was in an end of the world PbP that was really a lot of fun. Sadly it died off, but was enjoyable while it lasted. Throw in gestalt or something similar and great fun abounds

I'm up for anything in Savage Worlds (only)!

You know already from our chats, but I'd be down for pretty much any of these. Particularly interested in the End of the World or Shards of the Empire in Pathfinder, or Deathworld.

Shards of the Empire. I got drawn in just by the summary.

I am very interested in the pathfinder campaign, especially the end of golarion option. A gesalt character would be cool, but starting higher would also be cool.

It's the End of the World and Shards of the Empire both sound cool. I've got an alias from a "Kingmaker in Tian Xia" game that died I'd love the chance to re-use.

Shards of the Empire, for sure.
Been aching for a Wuxia/samurai game.

The bit about heroes don't always win reminded me a little of the Mistborn novels. Tian Xia is quite different ofc. Anyway sounds interesting.

Dot for Across the Outer Planes, The End of the World, and Chronicle of Nightwood.

Shards of the Empire piqued my interest also.

End of the World, Shards and Nightwood sound interesting...

I don't care if there's no bandwagon for it, I would move mountains to get into a good Exalted 2E game.

Here is the M6 System ...

Just something to look at, nothing more.

As you know, the apocalypse game is at the top of my list but I'd be willing to play any of them. That game or Deathworld are the top of my list though.

Third Age has my interest as well as It's the End of the World as We Know It.

I want to try and understand the Exalted system better and I had a Lunar that I played for a few sessions before the GM felt she couldn't continue the game due to the stigma a player caused.

But that would indeed be my interests, I'm eager to see when you decide what you wanna GM.

I'm mostly interested in Pathfinder and all 3 sound interesting. But also, of special note, I am massively, very much interested in anything Outer Planar!

My plan might have slightly backfired. Every game seems to be getting at least some interest. Still, it makes me glad that apparently I came up with a lot of good ideas!

I guess you have to do them all, then!

Just doing a quick look through the thread and tallying specific mentions and references, looks like the current "voting standings," as they would be, are as follows:

End of the World: 11
Shards of the Empire: 8
Across the Outer Planes: 3
Third Age of Creation: 2
Chronicle of Nightwood: 2
Deathworld: 3

I'm not strictly suggesting this be the deciding factor for what to run, but it may be useful food for thought.

Totally down for End of the World. High-power pathfinder is my favorite.

Sovereign Court

End of the World sounds like fun! Definitely up for a higher powered Pathfinder game(I assume original Pathfinder, not 2E?). I'm looking forward to seeing what you envision.

GM Faceless, are you going to pull the trigger on The End of the World? Or something else? And are you going to link it here in this thread?

I still need to do some work to get any of the games ready to do a full recruitment, but this is definitely helping. I may end up doing a couple of recruitments and run more than one once I'm ready to get started.

Just be careful not to burn yourself out

There's already been a lot of interest, but I'd throw in my own vote - End of the World would be the top of list, but all of the ideas seem quite interesting.

I must also add interest for End of the World! Question: Timeline-wise, what year would you be looking at for the start of that campaign? Would there be modification to when the various villains would have succeeded?

End of the World or Shards would get my vote! Guess I need to keep a watch on this thread for the decision!

It looks like End of the World and Shards are definitely the most popular, so I'll probably do one of those first. End of the World would be chronologically set around the time that Ruins of Azlant would have taken place. All APs before that happened and went wrong. I'll have a full setting document ready when I'm ready to start recruitment.

I'd be interested in the End of the World as well.

Dot for Shards of the Empire or Outer Planes.

The Shards of Empire and End of the World ideas are both attractive.

I may be the only one but I really want to play Exalted.

I ran the end of the world(Broken Golarion) that Grumbaki mentioned above. One of the reasons(there were several) that it died out was I wasn't ready for such a massive world changing game, without too much of a real plan. By the time I figured one out, the players were no longer interested(totally understandable by the way).

I'm actually working on rebuilding that setting with far more depth for an IRL game(with possible discord play as well) as we speak, so I can lend an assist with the setting if you'd like(several of the APs ends can cause conflict with some of the others).

Also, if you do end up running that, I would strongly consider having Reign of Winter be a success(to a degree). As I was reading through all the failed AP sections, and trying to figure out how things would be changed, I quickly realized that having endless winter(and all the aggravation that goes along with that) was just too much on top of everything else.

All this said, put me down as wanting to play in any of the 3 PF games! :)

Dark Archive

Late to the discussion, but while I'm not really in a position to learn a new system at the moment, I'd be up for any of the Pathfinder games.
