So, with the #MyPathfinderSpoiler thing going around, we're getting a general idea of what we can and can't do in this system, how easy some things will be to pull off, ect. ect.

SO! My inquiry to you, my fellow forum-mates... What do you plan on making? What crazy cockamamie PCs do you plan on crafting, what horrid villains do you GMs plan on sending towards your players, HOW MANY GOBLINS WILL RUN AROUND STICKING PEOPLE IN THE SHINS?!? I, personally, plan on re-remaking my Witcher inspired elven blade-dancer type dude, and potentially making The Black Swordsman himself, GUTS! As well as my previous EVIL! Sorcerer/Rogue, and maybe a few more... WHAT SAY YOU?!

I say I'm gonna run Age of Ashes for all that it's worth with my group. A friend wants to be a bard real hard, but I'll advise that she reads the CRB at least a bit in case she notices something else attracting her attention. She'd also like to be an ifrit, and if you kind folks will lend a hand we'll try to make it so, if she really wants to.

I'm also continuing to run Wrath of the Righteous solo for one of my friends, using 2e of course. The adaptation should be fun. And of course I'll come crying for help and promising cookies if needed.

I also would like to build a Varisian tattooed sorceress, a Shoanti Skoan-Quah ancestral barbarian, a Chel rogue (with investigator ambitions if possible), and an aasimar cloistered cleric of Desna, then see how they fare in an adaptation of RotR. The aasimar is tough for now. Musetouched. Will definitely try to make heritage and feat no stronger than what we get in the official books (and of course I'll come bothering you about her too).

My first two characters:

(1) Captain America. Shield & unarmed beat-em-up brawler. Either unarmored or light armor. Any Medium humanoid. Max Athletics and Acrobatics, don't really need other skills. Being able to throw the shield is not a priority but would be cool if the system can handle it.

My main question/concern about this character is figuring out what class/multiclass combo will best support it. Right now I'm guessing Monk or Barbarian as base, since they should enable the unarmored and a higher movement speed which fits, and I might have to multiclass Fighter to enable the shield fighting. But we'll see! Figuring this character out will be my first task when I get my hands on the rules.

(2) The Scholar. A character who knows everything. Likely a Bard, skill-focused high-Int Rogue, or maybe a Wizard. Priority is strictly on knowledge/skills, all other build considerations are strictly secondary.

Ooh, high-int rogue... tasty!

I'm going to be a GM and running a game where the players are sleepless detectives. Their investigations will lead to man eating were-crocs, decadent nobles, and whatever else I fancy. This was originally planned for 1e, but I decided to go all in on 2e.

I have two big concepts I wanna try:
Anti-magic Wizard. His mentor thought she was useless at magic because she was unable to cast the spells he tried to tell her, until he tried teaching her counter spells.
So she mainly counter/dispel, with a couple of protection spells.
She would also have Fighter dedication to fight into melee vs the spell-casters she dispelled/anti-magic zoned. I don't know if it's possible, but I really want to try. (I might make her into a sorcerer rule-wise, but she would still call herself a wizard)

Chicken Attack. An old yodeling druid that specialize in chicken-based wild shape and animal control. Might take some bard dedication. That may sounds like a joke character, but I really want to role-play him as a bad-ass old man.

I plan on running Age of Ashes, and I also plan to finish writing the Kingmaker sequel I've been working on and run that. Originally it was going to be my last PF1e campaign, but I think more likely it will be one of my first PF2e campaigns because it seems like PF2e will be much easier to write for.

So basically I'll be running the relatively linear Age of Ashes, and an extremely sandboxy kingdom building game

If my players ever read this, don't!:
set on Castrovel.

Should be a nice stress test of the system overall.

I don't really have much experience with tabletop RPGs, so I don't really know too much about this sort of stuff but…

First character idea that came to mind was a simple spear & shield fighter. That said, when I looked at the playtest, it seemed the spear was a simple weapon and there wasn't really any martial polearm that could be used with a shield, so my character idea feels like it ends up a bit subpar from the get-go. Hopefully there's more support for this.

Next idea is more complex and kinda weird. The main idea is that he's a man with humble ambitions, managing a small business in a town. He focuses on crafting things, probably either an Alchemist or a Wizard, to help people around him. That said, from time to time, he gets strange requests. Some people seem to think he's some sort of accomplished adventurer and ask him to do some wild things. Although he keeps on the cautious side, he has difficulty turning down a request although he promises no results. He tends to make an honest attempt but tries to avoid putting his life into too much danger.

…But at night, he turns into someone else entirely. A woman rogue with a knack for adventure, she spends much of her time completing the requests he receives without his notice. The two change personas at the same time every morning and evening and each are effectively sleeping while the other is active with no memory of the other's actions. Since the man takes extensive notes on everything that happens in his life, the woman reads these notes to get a good understanding of what went on and is very aware of the man counterpart's existence, but he doesn't quite believe in her's. Regardless, when folks ask him for help on adventuring things, they're generally asking for her help in actuality.

The basic idea of this character would be to use two sheets, and they will be switched involuntarily at fixed intervals of the day. I don't really know how practical this would be in a tabletop RPG and would likely require coordination with a DM to execute, but I like the idea at least.

Right now, I'm feeling a bit inspired by the Champion's Liberator path. I think it would be neat to play a Halfling Liberator who's a freed Chelish slave and follows Cayden Cailean. Ties to the Bellflower Network and all that. That character would need the right campaign, though.

I'm also pretty excited about the upgrades to Sorcerers, but I'd have to see the bloodline options available to really get inspired.

That reminds me, other than my high strength wizard, the other character I really want to try in 2e if I get to play is a druid/rogue multiclass. I'm curious to see how viable one of the objectively worst multiclass combinations in 1e is. :)

I'm all in on Fantasy Grounds. Hoping for a FG packet of the upcoming Plaguestone adventure, just to get PF2 going. Once we have played it a little bit, will do Age of Ashes.

I'll have to see how things shake out: I'm not even 100% sure I'm playing the new game in the near future. If I do, I'm curious to see how alchemist got reworked [actually to a lesser extent all the classes], how the multiclass type feats ended up [and how multiclass spellcasting works], if I can ignore bulk [don't get me started]...

If I do, maybe some combo of rogue [or bard], alchemist and/or wizard.

I'd recommend animal order...

Having your own flanking buddy built in does have some serious utility for a Rogue...

For me, I'd probably play a high Int Rogue given the option. Or possibly a melee Bard with a pretty good Int. I like Skills a lot...

I'm actually planning to do a PF2 revamp of the first campaign I ever ran, with some changes to reflect new ideas I've had and my vastly increased GMing proficiency.

As part of this I will be building a PF2 version of my GMPC/consistent NPC Ally from that game, who was always a Fire and Healing Battle Cleric (Used mechanics of Sarenrae basically but in-story actually gained his powers from a mythical Phoenix and also uses a Falchion rather than Scimitar).

This looks like it will translate SO well to the new Warpriest path in particular, with promise of good weaponry and heavy armor, plus the beautiful change of Wis for spell attacks and the addition of Divine Lance meaning he can ACTUALLY do stuff at range despite having full plate-level Dex! Plus Fire Ray being miles better than its cruddy PF1 equivalent ever was!

Like seriously, there are SEVERAL changes that are just PURE gravy for this character and I love it.

Making pre-release plans for what exact character I wanted to make before the playtest very much did not go well. I'm gonna temper my excitement for anything specific and just expect that I'll be able to make something satisfying out of at least one of the Rogue, Fighter, or Barbarian.

I've always wanted to play a sorcerer that can go into melee with the Claw su of the draconic or abysal bloodline but it was never viable thanks to BAB and low duration, looking foward to see if it works now.

Will probably run open world kingdom building in what is essentially fantasy fallout.

Though to start with we will have a fairly linear adventure that establishes why the pcs are chosen to go to the surface and gives the players a chance to play with the new rules before getting dumped into near full sandbox.

We've got a couple ongoing campaigns that will probably get converted (unless they falter or finish by August). Beyond that, we have plans to finish out the Varisia saga with Return of the Runelords in 2e.

I almost exclusively GM, though, so most of my tinkering will be monster-focused. Really looking forward to what sort of bosses we can make this time around.

Throw in Fighter Multiclass to grab Double Slice and you should be in a pretty good place. Claw damage is lackluster but DS really helps pick up.

Well my players would like to do either a one shot or short storyline on my “Darksun” inspired continent. Mostly because they haven’t played there yet. If they do I can’t wait to unleash this continents elite kobolds. They hang glide and drop ceramic jars filled with rot grub.

Ideas I used in the Playtest are itching to come back as fleshed out characters... I had a Joan of Arc like character (inspired by Heather Dale's 'Joan' song) that I was using to explore the multiclass archetyping with cleric and fighter (paladin/champion causing too much restriction on the crazy illogic lol), and a gnome sorcerer with delusions of Draconic proportion (was convinced he was a silver dragon cursed/trapped in a gnome's body).

Thank you for mentioning Joan, friggin' wonderful song, playlisted of course.

My friend is playing Wrath of the Righteous with a similar character (the inspiration is always Joan of Arc) - he rolled a paladin of Iomedae. She has psychotic episodes in which she doesn't know if she's hearing her goddess' angels or not, she hates demon worshippers with a berserker fury, and she messes up a lot with the paladin code and the whole lawful business, but that's one of the reasons why we love her - she makes mistakes.

Bringing the campaign to PF 2nd edition in August, I'm gonna suggest MC archetype as barbarian, b/c... totally her when she's angry.

Her name is Runa. Forwarded Joan to my friend of course.

Ifrit, huh? I could do another experiment with Heritages like I did with Kobold Ancestry to get the ball rolling, but it will be a few days before I have a little time. Sounds like a fun challenge though...

'Joan' is a great song, as is most of Heather Dale's work, actually...

Yes, I need to listen to more songs by Ms. Dale, but Joan is definitely goosebumps territory.

Feros, there's no hurry, my friend is not dead-set on playing an ifrit, it's just something she would've liked, but I want my people to check all the material they can for Age of Ashes before committing to a concept, and that would possibly include the player's guide, and definitely the CRB and at least tidbits of Lost Omens. I'll help them out if it's too much of a reading list, they don't have to worry, but I want them to make informed choices.

That said... Do show up whenever you've got a bit of time and we'll see what kind of mess we can make ;)

I have a character I have been workshopping in oneshots named Pappy. He is a long haul trucker (an underrepresented profession) who is just the nicest guy you will ever meet. Talks like Larry the cable guy and always has a story about shenanigans him and his buddies get up to. These stories are how he inspires.

Another one I've wanted to do is a two weapon fighting class. I've always seen people talk about it, but have never seen it done in person. I'm thinking ranger since the playtest ranger had a lot of feats for 2wf. Though I will have to see how the fighter shakes out as well.

I am in the middle of my "friendly characters with family" period and want to explore that more.

Often when I start a new system, I'll try to recreate older PCs from earlier systems; in this case my favorite 3.5 character, a gnome Druid/Bard mix whose bardsongs and spells buffed his animal companion, a (dire) badger. His Pathfinder 1st edition re-imagining ended up being a Summoner; the Summoner spell list has a number of iconic Druid and Bard spells on it. I ended up buffing my Eidolon with spells instead of bardsong, but the effect was much the same.

In theorycrafting with the Playtest rules, I'd have made him a Bard, with the Cavalier Dedication for the animal companion (as badgers are ancestry-appropriate mounts for gnomes), and using choice of background and ancestry feats to pick up a Primal cantrip and other nature/animal flavor. (The druid dedication was a no-go, since an effective druid level of half my bard level for feats would lock me out of enough animal companion advancement feats for him to stay a relevant combatant)

From what we've seen so far of the 2E rules, I think I'll make him a Druid, multiclassing with Bard. I suspect all my Class Feats will be either Animal Companion feats or Bard Multiclass feats. Assuming similar backgrounds as the playtest, I can pick up the Entertainer background to feel like a bit of a bard even at 1st level, and it will go up from there. Being able to pick up Inspire Courage at 8th level is a big boost, as is only needing CHA 14 to pickup the Bard Dedication. (I suspect my starting abilities will look something like 8/14/14/10/18/14).

I'll be doing my old standby of battle cleric, likely updating my cleric of Sheyln if it works.

Silver Crusade

I've been keen to make a Battle Herald, I payed one in a one-shot, but it seems that a 2E Bard with an appropriate dedication might be able to do that military commander thing pretty well.

On the other hand, I'll almost certainly play my old standby since AD&D: An Elf Wizard. Boring, but good, and it'll teach me the mechanics before I start making some Pact Wizard/Void school broken mess.

In no particular order

  • Barbarian(MC/Cleric)
  • Red Mantis Assassin (or as close as possible)
  • A Cleric of Nethys (MC/Wizard) *or* Wizard (MC/Cleric of Nethys)

The new cleric rules really make me want to play a N Cleric of Norgorber as a spy on the hunt for secrets he can use to his own gain. Probably multiclass Rogue

I've really wanted to play Strange Aeons, and assuming i get to play for once in my life, I'm going to play a human wizard, probably transmutation or conjuration specialist. I may multiclass into cleric to get more healing, or even occult sorcerer to get that... I'll have to see my options.

And yes, i know it's a 1e AP. We mostly do homebrew stuff but I've always liked the Cthulhu cosmic horror genre. Now i just have to convince my wife and help teach her how to convert 1e to 2e...

He won't fit into PFS, sadly, so I'm not sure where he'll next appear, but my first original-to-2nd-ed character is going to be "Honest" Jak Wildblood, NE human feyblooded sorcerer and all-around nice guy. Was best friends with the paladin during Sombrefell Hall, absolutely maxxed out his Deception, and had really no qualms whatsoever about doing what needed doing in order to help the party succeed. (Sometimes, of course, this required some... misdirection... to his paladin friend, because she wouldn't have approved. Jak respects her morals, and does his best to make sure she's never in a position to have to choose between them and accomplishing their goals. Best thing for everyone, really!)

I am considering running the fall of plaguestone before starting my own campagin. Roughly inspired by the seven deadly sins anime I will place 7 corrupted knights with rising cr in the path of my party, each with different theme, minions, fortress and other encounters (roughly each spinning the reach of a level in the progression) Still have to think of a bbeg that corrupted the knights in the first place

It will be a bit higher in Power level and my players will each get the feats for a multiclass archetype besides their full progession

The Party consists of an Elvish Spellblade (inspired by baldurs gate multiclass of kensei and wizard), an Elvish Arcane Trickster (Rogue mc sorcerer) a half elvish, half orcish Druid (Multiclass still open) and then another elf which will be probably a cleric or champion of one of my three favorite goddesses (Sarenrae, Shelyn, Desna)
