Umbrella Corp Official Announcement- LIVE:

"We wish to assure everyone that everything is under control. You are in NO danger whatsoever. The stories of Primates running loose with blood samples are clearly the work of subversive misinforationists wishing to spread fear and conflict between our corporation and the good people we serve. Let me repeat, you are in NO danger whatso,.. what is that? What is going on here?!? WHO LET THOSE MONKEYS IN HERE!?!?!? AHHHH,...."

Nice! Could it, or some variant of it, use drunkard's breath and/or tears to wine as spell-like abilities?

But it could if it wanted.......

By the Ancient Protosaurs, no. Please no.

Nice beastie, very flavor-filled. Gives one ideas for down-time or side quests.

So, today is my anniversary, (VERY lucky am I, who found a woman who has put up with me for 24 years so far!) ;)

She doesn't want to go out tonight, she wants to wait to get this silly monitor device off first, so we can dress up. (Take-home heart monitor thing, linked to a phone for recording.)

So, we have gone and gotten her 'wedding -cake cupcakes' from the bakery, and I will fix her Mexican food tonight (One of her favorites) we have already looked at the wedding album, and we will probably sit through the weeding video tonight. (I won't make the kids watch it again. They just NOT interested.) ;P

Not too bad for a Monday I guess? :)

Weeding video? How much fun can it be to watch your parents work in a garden?

J/K I knew what you meant. Happy anniversary!

LOL, typos for the win!

But since I have been trying to get this 'garden' fiasco up and running for over a month now,
The wedding video is MUCH more fun than the Weeding! ;P

On the plus side,...
FRIDAY!

Time to finally take out the wife for our anniversary dinner!

Also, time to prep for the minor-yet-headed-directly-for-us-hurricane.

Win-Meh? O_o

Hope Cristobal sputters out before it makes landfall, Rags. My dad is hustling (driving) home early from visiting his brother in Texas so he can beat the storm.

And oops, belated anniversary congrats too.

LOL, thanks Amby!

Yeah, we dont get direct hits too often here. Usually they go a little to one side or the other, but a direct hit up the center of Louisiana? Unusual.

AS my wife noted, IF we DO have to take a direct hit, I'll take the Cat 1 storm thank you! Somewhere ELSE can have the Cat 4 or 5!
:)

Fantasy Monster: Wightlin Gremlin. Still no bikini.

Storm is brewing somewhere nearby...

Is it the time to try new painkiller?

If you got 'em, take 'em. But I'm a wimp when it comes to pain, so just be wary of any medical advice I give you.

Yah. The storm missed us completely.

New Orleans got some wind and some rain,

But 2 hours to the West? We got a couple of light gusts, and some drizzle/mist.

:)

I had delicious shrimp scampi and chocolate cake made by Scint for my birthday. =)

If anyone would be interested in ever playing Lord Of The Rings online, currently there is a code that gives all current quest packs for free, and the expansions are ultra-cheap: Friends Forever. 99 LP can be easily earned in game in a few hours (or less than hour if you know what your are doing, and have a moderately leveled character).

First night on a new pillow was... Promising. No headache (beyond hints that are more probably related to current weather - yesterday was worse), my neck and shoulders aren't strained or aching (though they might show signs of that later in the day, they do that often).

Excellent!

I was supposed to run a game this weekend, but canceled it yesterday. We played online last week and it was fun, but I noticed that over the 2 month break we took during quarantine I barely thought about gaming at all. I just can't seem to get enthused at all right now. I've been gaming since 1985, with a few breaks in and out of the years, but I was always itching to get back in the fray. Now, I just don't know. It's likely stemming from the fact I'm totally burned out, just very tired of being the GM. One of the guys has offered to run the new Stargate game once in a while and I'm completely on board, but the rest of the group doesn't seem to have any interest at all. It's PF1e or nothin' with them.

I just don't know.

It's really ok to take a break. A few times in the past couple decades I've taken a few months to a year to not game. It's supposed to be fun, and if you're not having fun...

...I'll let Tableflip McRagequit take this one.

No? Nothing? Guess he's tired out.

Anyway, YOU are part of the group. As I once told a yoga teacher friend of mine: "You're included in those sentient beings you wish happiness for at the end of every class."

So maybe a break is ok. It's alright to not be enthused by this particular hobby for a while.

That said...

...I have found that when I get burned out on something, it's a good idea for me to find something else to fill that space/time, rather than just drop the thing I used to love doing and not do something else. Otherwise, that specific burnout becomes general blah and that turns into depression and next thing I know, I'm in a terrible dark place.

So...

What else can you do that isn't gaming, but might keep you occupied for a while, while you slowly refuel the tank to blaze once again into PC destroying fire (or a metaphor of your choice that doesn't involve incinerating your friends for fun)?

Here's a cartoon I've also found helpful.

Anyway, hang in there. There's no Gamer Valhalla, where if you leave this mortal world while NOT GMing a game, you'll be denied entry to the Halls of Gygax to feast of the dew of mountains and the cheetos of... cheese. Take the time you need to find some enjoyment elsewhere. Even though it's hard (for me) to see, I'm still pretty sure the world has more things to enjoy than I'll get around to enjoying.

Hope you find some.

And if there does turn out to be a Gamer Valhalla waiting for those who perish, dice in hand, I hope you get to sit on whichever side of the screen you want while singing the songs of the pythons. I'll be there, flipping the table of the gods.

I once quit for 17 years.

4 people marked this as a favorite.

Pfft.

I once quit before the hobby had even been invented. Marched right up to 9-year-old Gary Gygax and said: "I'm out, neckbeard." He cried.

Thank you very much, Q. I kinda needed to hear that. Not just this last bit, but the whole blinking thing.

LOL,

Good advice,

I never had to quit, I can't find enough time, or similar minded peeps, (Whom I know) who live close enough to me to be able to 'game' on a regular basis.

Which is why I love the PbP format so much, it allows me to at least participate in games part-time. :)

Spoiler:
In Polish "but" is "ale" which would work much better, even though I have little interest in ales and beers.

I guess it's really "two great tastes that taste great together."

I suck at pop culture. Totally need Amby on my Trivia team. It takes me 10 minutes with Google to figure out her posts, and then they're amazingly twisted and brilliant and funny.
