Scarab Sages

Will try and work up an alternate submission for #35.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Since we are rebuilding the world I didn't figure we'd have access to anything unless we create it ourselves....

I start with Scribe Scroll as the 1st level wizard bonus feat.
Had planned to take Craft Wondrous Item at 3rd level, and Craft Wand at 5th, plus Craft Magic Arms and Armor as my Wizard Bonus feat at 5th.

Normally don't even think about Forge Ring, but Rings of Sustenance for everybody can be nice!

Was also considering Craft Construct to create magical guards for our community! :-) I'm hoping this game goes for a long time and high levels!

you will be well loved by the group.

Definitely! Should I be selected I'll be an excellent scout and messenger eventually with lots of tricks for moving around and sending message, but lacking caster levels that sort of crafting will be beyond my ability.

Note that some of the crafted items will require clerical spells. Easiest option will be to have a divine caster available when the item is crafted. Example: For the Ring of Sustenance the required spell is Create Food & Water. As far as I know there is no way for an arcane caster to get that one....

I have been having brutal writer's block with No Man's Face.

I hope to have him finished and properly submitted tomorrow.

Looking cool, people!

As a resident cleric, Claire will help with the divine list for crafting as she's able.

Oh my gods, both of those ideas are brilliant. Talk about an item that would seriously improve quality of life for everybody! Rings of sustenance for all!

Lessah here. I too have a bit to go (*cough backstory where? cough*). With a bit of luck I'll have something nice to look at by the end of tomorrow : )

@Crafting - Not much here I'm afraid, but I'm going to take an extra look at those expanded herbalist rules I know I saw somewhere.

Silver Crusade

I wonder how that would interact with Karash's mutation:

Bad: High metabolism: You have incredibly high metabolism and appetite. You can't get drunk, or even buzzed. But you do consume three times the normal amount of food (15 FP per month). Killing live prey with a bite or stomach acid provides you +5 FP.

mine should be done today, gonna be a muilty purpose builder/engineer

Actually, if you don't have one of the required spells for (non potion) use items (like rings) you can skip it by raising the DC by 5. By the time you get to craft ring that's probably not much of an issue for many of the rings that you might want to forge. For scrolls, potions and trigger activated items (wands, staves, some rods, some wondrous items,) you do need to know the spell.

Also, if you're going crafting (and this is a great setting for someone to do it,) you might consider the Valet Familiar Archetype for your familiar as it will both make skill checks easier and halve the time item creation takes in most cases. Assuming that familiar archetypes are allowed of course which I imagine DM Mustache can weigh in on.

You will have SO much time to craft, there is no need to take anything that makes your crafting faster. That is the nature of games where the time ticks by in months.

Fair enough, if time isn't the constraint we're worried about then the Valet archetype isn't nearly as vital.

There's a reason Cuddles has Profession: Hard Labor. He ain't no artisan, but somebody's gotta set the beams and lift the bars! :D

Hi everyone, we are approximately 27 hours away from submission closure. If you could please take a look at that recruitment spreadsheet and make sure that if you are applying, that it is marked green. That way you know you weren't accidently overlooked.

Also note GM Mustache doesn't generally allow one to bypass the spell requirement by increasing the DC. Shouldn't be a big deal with so many caster to collaborate with, tho.

Yeah, spellcraft checks are too easy to make.

I am of the same opinion. You gotta have the spell.

I'm fine with the house rule as long as I know about it ahead of time (which this counts as.) And mostly I'm happy to leave that to the casters this time through as I'm just the peanut gallery for this one.

I can't guarantee I will remember to tell you each house rule ahead of time; I make plenty of changes in the way kingdom building works for example. At some level you just have to trust the GM to not be a jerk.

This is Dakcenturi's alternate submission if you would prefer a more healer focused character over a rogue.

Plan would be to do mostly Oracle/Paladin, possibly a dip in fighter. She hasn't actually become a Paladin yet, since she started with Oracle, so that could be interesting to play out that process.

In any case, I've been wanting to do an Oracle/Paladin for awhile so thought I would provide an alternative for consideration since you mentioned a potential need for more healers.

Thanks Dakcenturi. There has been already been a rogue entry, so this is a nice alternative.

And that's great, it's clearly a different sort of game, you've said that you've got some rule changes in mind which we'll discover as we go. I'm also just fine with rule changes on the fly to make things work better beyond that.

When I made that statement I was thinking in the context of building a character around a central concept like crafting, and then learning later on that crafting/central concept in the game doesn't work the way I'd expected. That didn't come through with what I wrote at all though, so sorry about that!

I'm sure there will be lots that we have to figure out. For example, with no established shops where will we get spell components? Ditto crafting materials. The standard was x GP cost for a whatever level spell, for whatever level caster, etc. Now the crafting recipe might be the heart of a creature that can "xxxxx" for a spell that can do "xxxxx". Plus for wands, example one might be the baton for a CLW wand has to be a 12-14" perfectly strait branch from a birch tree. A wand of fear requires a 6"-10" bone from a creature that has the ability to cause fear.

Examples given just as a wild guess. (and from a previous game) By the time we are all together and have gained levels to where this matters hopefully we will have a clue how it will work!

You may find I am an expert at waving my hands, if you know what I mean. Many aspects of Pathfinder intrigue me greatly, some do not (like most spell components). As we get to know each other we will figure it out.

I going to withdrawal because I have some writing block

That means mutation #13 is back up for grabs.

Spoiler:
13. Caught in a green energy wave while pulling in a fish, your DNA mingled with its and left you with several fishy attributes.
Greater: Lamprey Mouth: You gain improved grapple as a bonus feat. When you maintain a grapple, if you deal weapon damage you can also suck the enemies blood dealing an additional 1d2 con damage and heal yourself for d4 health.
Lesser: Gills- Gain swim as a class skill, and breathe underwater and gain the aquatic subtype in addition to your normal race.
Bad: Obsessive: When presented by a common place item or situation, you must make a Will Save DC 12 + 1/2 character level to avoid doing something obsessive compulsive. Whenever you see water of a swimmable depth, you immediately head toward it and jump in, regardless of the danger, and stay in for at least 10 minutes, and longer is better! Being unable to go into the water will give you the fascinated condition. If this happens in battle, you get a new will save each turn.

Sorry for being so late to the party! Here is my Oracle I mentioned. Pardon the formatting, just wanted to get my submission in before I had to go out tonight, I promise to have her cleaned up as quick as I can. Also, I was thinking perhaps her Craft could be cooking, having learned a few recipes from her mother, but not sure if that's helpful, open to suggestions there.

EDIT:: This is Garfaulk btw.

I think cooking is great. But will you wear a hair net?

Here's AGamer70's warpriest. I just realized I need to adjust my maulaxe crafting to make it cold iron.

Apologies, I will unfortunately miss the deadline. I hope the 16 selected have a great game!

Lessah here and I'm proud to announce that Saki the slightly lost Slyph Samurai is 98% done!

I'll be finishing up the gear list shortly. Will also see if I can take some of the grease from my quick backstory and put it somewhere else, but no promises :P

(I'm using a generic "for applications" alias to avoid clutter [mitigate at least!] but I'll make one just for Saki if selected. I think at least, depending on how much we'll actually use this site : ) )

At the last minute, the field has grown significantly more competitive. To maintain fairness, I will be strict on the deadline, and will watch the time stamp! Any submission need to be done before midnight (EST). That is 3 hours and 36 minutes from now.

Indeed!

I feel confident enough to label Saki an 1.0 version worthy of release.

Let's hope that a 1.1 won't be needed : )

And good luck picking - good luck to the pickees as well :P

Some may relish the picking of a party; I do not because I want to take everyone. I am looking through submissions; the count as it stands right now is that 6 people will not be on the roster.

Scarab Sages

Which is significantly less than the would be normally!

Assuming I can adjust my previous post to make it cold-iron:

Dwarven Maulaxe: 250 sp / DC15 / Cost for materials 8.34gp

should have been: 500 sp / DC15 / Cost for materials 16.38 gp

Craft (weapons): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24 24x15=360=done

Craft (weapons): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26 26x15=390=done

Heavy steel shield: 200 sp / DC15 / Cost for materials 6.67gp

Craft (armor): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24 24x15=360= done

and I'm out of time, so I guess that's it.

The perils of living in a much earlier Timezone - it is the 16th for me and the suspense is killing me even though I know its 1am for GM Mustache, and that I will probably not know the result till I wake up tomorrow :)

Pathfinder Rulebook Subscriber

Good luck, everyone!

Bugger thought I had posted, guess the net must hve derped out before I posted before I left, oh well good luck to everyone!

The results are in. It was mostly decided late last night with leaving a slot open for last minute entries, which didn't happen.

Everyone, thanks for your attention and interest. If you didn't get picked, you may hear from me eventually with an invitation to join, as I have never been in a game where someone didn't drop out for personal reasons eventually. As far as why you didn't get picked, it was a combination of my past experience with many players, and I was really looking for a close tie in between the backstory and mutation, and for some of you, the mutation was an afterthought. So that's it, nothing personal and it was a very hard decision.

Here is who is in--- I will send you all a PM shortly.

Aglaron
Alakras
Ashika Al Vasheer
Brior
Claire
Cuddles
Kaelmourn
Karash
Krugh Drawlin
Lilian
Myrandya
Nikolos
Rosbee
Saki
Samaera
Tak Tak

All PMs sent. If you didn't get one, better let me know.

Congratulations to everyone picked! Have fun in Prevail!

Given that Mutation 13 was freed up, I'm going to rework Prachi here as a Grippli Hydrokineticist using that one. Should you need a replacement at some point that'll be a mutation less tacked on to another character concept, but more of a main focus.

Great! Yeah, that was a problem in Prachi's build.

Thanks mustache, really looking forward to this :)
I’ll get the discord stuff set up ASAP
