Background:
Ashika does not know her parents. When she was young, trying to survive in the streets of Qadira, she would fantasize over who they could have been - perhaps a nobleman and a serving girl, two star-crossed lovers, or maybe a valiant adventurer and his homely wife. One thing she does know is her fiendish appearance, even as a baby, was enough to have her father disown her and her mother burned at the stake. If her parents gave her a name, she does not know it. Growing up in Qadira was very difficult for any orphan, but especially so for a tiefling child. Many times she would scare people away with her infernal visage. One day, her luck finally ran out when a group of street thugs accosted her, beat her into unconsciousness, and left her outside the city to die of exposure.

However, that was not the end of young Ashika. Her life was saved by a travelling priest of the Dawnflower. Seeing something in the girl that nobody else had, he brought her with her back to the city of Maharev in Qadira. There, he taught her that anyone, no matter their family or past deeds, could be redeemed. As Ashika grew, she studied Sarenrae’s teachings and embraced her dual-edged doctrine of forgiveness and justice. Her natural talent with the arts of healing became obvious as she grew, as did her devotion to the church that had turned her life around. At the age of 20, she took the name Ashika al-Vasheer as her own and pledged both her soul and her sword to Sarenrae. She strives to follow the path of a Paladin, but has yet to receive the divine blessing of her patron God.

Ashika spent the next several years travelling Avistan with her savior Maleek al-Vasheer. Their mandate was to support the church of the Dawnflower in across the realms, spread the light of redemption among the poor and downtrodden, and protect the people from the forces of darkness and evil. While she trained with Maleek to better learn the way of the sword and the tenants of their faith, she offered her natural talents as a healer. Eventually they found their way to Lastwall where Ashika tended to the sick and wounded at one of the small churches of the Dawnflower. However, it wasn't long until the fateful day where everything changed, when the bombs fell from the sky and brought ruin to the world.

Once again Maleek saved Ashika's life. Before it was too late, Maleek sealed Ashika in the church and slammed the door to protect her from the blast. Ashika tried and tried to push open the steel door and save her companion, but it was too late. As the door started to heat from the destruction on the other side, she knew what fate befell her friend. Between his sacrifice and the wards he placed on the room Ashika was saved. When Ashika tried to pull her hands away, she couldn't at first, it was as if they had melded with the steel door. Crying and praying to Sarenrae, she finally ripped her hands away, the pain was unbearable and she promptly passed out. After she awoke she found herself changed. Her skin now metallic as if covered in steel, she looked down to notice that while nearly her entire body was now covered in metal he toes were not. She struggled to get to her feet and with her first steps, her toes snapped off under the pressure of the steel on the rest of her feet. Surprisingly there was no pain, but it was an extreme shock none the less.

She has spent the last several months surviving on dwindling supplies at the church and learning more about her new abilities. As her supplies began to run out, she finally ventured outside. Another wave of grief passed over her as she found the only thing left of Maleek was his falchion and a blackened outline of him holding the door shut. Taking the falchion she left to find a way to survive, seeing signs for a place called Prevail, she now follows their trail hoping to find others who survived the catastrophe.
