In the distant future, when magic and technology have blurred the lines of what can be accomplished and travel among the stars is a reality, the powers of the mind have flourished. Introducing the Psionics Guide (working title), a psionics system for the Starfinder RPG!
The Psionics Guide will include the psionics rules for the Starfinder RPG, as well as new races, classes, feats, archetypes, and more! This isn’t just Psionics Unleashed for Starfinder. We’ve evaluated every piece of psionics to determine what fits in the game and what needs to be changed.
After the Psionics Guide, we plan to release new creatures and enemies for the Starfinder RPG, including new psionic monsters. Other possible supplements include additional new player options like races, classes, feats, powers, and items, as well as adventures and monsters. Psionic space ships and other vessels are being considered for later supplements
At Dreamscarred Press, we try not to give a timeline, as we don’t work on this full time, so we do not yet have an ETA for when these books will be available. However, we plan to run our playtests in public to get player and community feedback. We have found that public playtests make the products better and we intend to continue that tradition.

Noice. I hope you guys do something to differentiate it a bit more from psychic magic this time around, especially with how magic has changed to be much more fluid and no longer has components.
Also, off topic but something I'm dying to know: are there any plans for a spiritual successor to Path of War for Starfinder?

I'm liking it, I'm liking it. If this is available for pre-order, I'll certainly do so. Thank you for the support of a good game, Jeremy!

I personally have always liked the Psychic Warrior. The current version already feels 'Starfinderish' with it's selection of paths, which each SF core class seems to have variations unique to that class. I'll be converting some of the Psionics Unleashed classes, especially psychic warrior, to SF rules anyhow, just in case they're not updated/included in the new product.

Patrick Newcarry wrote:Yes. However, some people, myself included, like the point system from the Psionics Unleashed material over a "different form of magic."Sounds great, but...
Didn't the CRB say that "magic" was pretty universal, including psionics?
I'm included in that particular bracket. Psi works with Sci-Fi a lot better than magic does. Even though my first crew (players in Starfinder) have magic wielding characters, I plan on introducing psionics at the first opportunity.

I hope they start from the ground up to fit the new balance and style of the current system.
Though I also hope for Veilweaving classes, especially because it would seem that the style seems to fit in well with sci-fi (all power to shields!). Maybe that's just because I've been playing Mass Effect lately and everyone has glowy bits hovering off of them.

Will you be converting Ultimate Psionics to Starfinder, or starting from the ground up?
It's not a direct conversion, but we're keeping a lot of the thematic elements of it. So, kind of somewhere in between is the best way to explain it, I suppose. Things that no longer make sense to keep are going away, things that need to be changed are being changed. Things that fit in Starfinder are coming over within Starfinder's paradigm.

Great, as long as it works beautifully within the framework, Jeremy. I bet everyone that replied on this thread is looking forward to the next product.

You've been very patient, folks, and I'm pleased to announce that the playtest for the Psionics Guide has finally begun with Signal Confirmed.
This initial test release includes the psionic races, the return of the aegis class, the transformation of soulknife into an archetype, and some psionic feats. Please, give it a read, give it a whirl, and know that we look forward to your feedback!

I'm a sometime freelance DSP writer and follow a lot of their developments, so I can tell you that they’ll be happy to take feedback here on the Paizo forums (but in the other thread which is for the playtest), or on the corresponding thread on GitP, but DSP is currently working through technical difficulties on their website and so they don't have a feedback thread there. (For the record, I have contributed nothing but my own rambling feedback to the Starfinder projects so far, so I can’t help you with anything else.)

The races have been updated with a few changes. Hopefully you will all find them more fairly balanced now.
Changelog:
-Duergar racial Trust Your Fear is now a reaction instead of free action.
-Elan racial Infiltrator has been changed to the following “Elans do not increase the DC of Disguise checks made to disguise themselves as members of another race of the same type. They still suffer the usual DC increase to Disguise checks made to disguise themselves as a creature of a different size category.”
-The following has been added to Atstreidi’s Assimilate Armor: “For all intents and purposes, an atstreidi’s armor shell is their body. It cannot be targeted individually or sundered.”
-The Half-Giant ability Overwhelming Force now costs a reaction, psionic focus and specifically does not provoke attacks of opportunity.
-The Half-Giant ability Heat Acclimated also applies to the burning condition now.
-Dromite’s teamwork ability now applies to Harrying Fire.
-Maenad outburst no longer grants +1 damage. It now allows the Maenad to reroll 1s on damage rolls.
-There have been a variety of grammar corrections

The last one was on September.
I wish they would hire someone to take over the project and finish it, but I doubt the amount raised by the campaign would be enough.
All the stuff that is available for playtest can be found on this thread at the GiTP forums.

I don't want to sound negative in this response. I hope that his family situation improves.
However, it has been nearly 3 years now since this was first proposed, with nothing other than a couple of works in progress postings.
I personally wouldn't mind giving all the Kickstarter backers a 'incomplete' version of the rules set, kind of like how Paizo gave everyone a free .pdf copy of their Pathfinder 2 Playtest rules (in the same way, we could give pointers for the final version).
I personally plan on using the rules set within the Azlanti Star Empire. giving them access to a 'powers set' that is unknown (and thus confusing) to the people of the Pact Worlds (remember, the original Ioun Stones were connected to Psionic powers in the 1st and 2nd editions [and maybe 3rd edition, I can't recall]).

Well, they released almost enough material for that:
Races, the Aegis class and the Soulknife archetype
Specialist class and powers
Themes
Psion class
Psionic powers
I'm still hopeful they'll get over this slump and turn out all the promised books.

I got the Pathfinder Ultimate Psionics guide about 3 years ago and I really like the book. We have been using it in the Rise of the Rune Lords AP. I look forward to when the Starfinder one comes out. Whenever that will be.. the creator keeps getting hit with personal life stuff and now with Corona, well... not much you can do

I probably purchased most of my 3pp stuff for Pathfinder 1 from Dreamscarred Press and Interjection Games.
I got a lot of mileage out of DSP products, adding psionic monsters to published adventures, converting NPCs to psionic classes... I have a long history with Psionics, back when AD&D and Dark Sun were around(I still have the physical books), and I'm really pleased with their work on Pathfinder.
I hope they finish up all the books unlocked in the kickstarter campaign for Starfinder, or worst case scenario, pass it on to a worthwhile successor.

Same here. Pretty much the entire reason I got the Dreamscarred products was to emulate Dark Sun in Pathfinder. I particularly liked the Vitalist class, which allowed for non-divine powered healer. Add the kineticist from Occult Adventures (to take the place of Elemental Clerics), and you can completely remove the 'Divine Power Source', one of the key elements of the background of Dark Sun.
