Welcome to a recruitment for a Legend of the Five Rings game! Here's all the info you need to get started;
The game will start in Kyuden Seppun, during winter court. Your characters will be there as members of your clan's entourage, for one reason or another.
I will be assigning everyone I select an extra Advantage and Disadvantage that I will base on your background.
I will require at least one shugenja, bushi, and courtier. Clan diversity is preferred. I would prefer no Ronin, but if you really want to play one, send me a PM and we can talk. Monks are perfectly acceptable.
I will be recruiting at least SEVEN players.
Recruitment will run until August 23. I'll be on vacation the 19-22, so will make my final selections that evening.

Ditto to the above...Always wanted to play some L5R. If me being new to the system is a barrier for entry I understand. I can assure you I'm certainly not new to various RPGs (mostly d20 & FATE).

I have an idea towards a Sparrow Bushi but wow winter court, that's a bit more high end than I expected.
Last time I played and L5R rpg the province had gone through a terrible winter and plague so we were doing a census.
You all wouldn't be high-ranking samurai, but you'll be in your Lord's entourage.

Nope. Your Status starts at 1, unless you take certain Advantages. Your Status may only be raised by your superiors acknowledging you.
I would play a Courtier, but I can't really see how that would jibe with my stated goal, although...Dodekatheon, how much of a problem would it be if I used the Oriole crafter school to represent a crafter from another clan?

Kitsune Misako was created for another game (that died), but seems like she'd fit. Original era was 1158, but 1122 still puts Fox as an independent clan I beleive.

Kitsune is still the family name of the major bloodline of the fox clan. Misako is simply a Kitsune of the Fox clan rather than a Kitsune of Mantis.
It matters because only one of each clan is allowed

Good news- I got a job I really wanted!
Bad news- it means I have to move, which unfortunately means I will not have time to put together a game to run. I have to suspend this recruitment indefinitely. When I get situated and used to my new space and job I might open it back up. Thank you all for your interest and sorry for the tease!
