Waking up:

She woke up in darkness amidst confusion and a strange feeling of loss. Her first sensation was of being restrained, it felt like she was bound in something soft and yielding, yet tough. She struggled against her restraints and suddenly sensed something else in her mind. She knew that the other was in distress and the feeling overwhelmed her triggering a wave of nausea.

The other was likewise confused. She didn’t know how she knew this.

As her sight slowly came back it was all wrong, she had no control over where she was looking. It was as if she was looking through someone else’s eyes. The sight dropped to her hands but though she could feel them it was like another force controlled them. She struggled again to to gain control. Her hands clutched her head as a wave of nausea once again overcame the other, and again she felt that distress as if it was her own.

The other knew she was there. “Who are you?” it asked. The question wasn’t verbal, she simply knew what the other was thinking. The question, however, posed a conundrum. She cast back in her memories. She remembered fragments and hazy recollections of quiet, peaceful places. Lonely places, but she couldn’t bring them into focus. She did realize however that these memories weren’t her own. They were memories from someone else, maybe even multiple other people. As for her own memories she couldn’t conjure up even a vague recollection.

“I….” she trailed off immediately. There was something wrong with the way that sounded, even in her mind. It felt incorrect, but she didn’t know why. The other likewise realized that it sounded wrong. “I… don’t know”.

The other was also lost, unable to remember anything of their past. Despite her confusion, she remained emotionless, however the other was experiencing a rising panic. “Where are we” the other thought as they started to look around, but immediately stopped. They both realized at the same moment that that sounded right, it felt right.

“Who are we?” With that though she began to feel her mind mingle with the other. She felt the chaotic mess of emotions seep into her awareness and all the good and bad that came with them. At the same time the other’s mind was opened up to the vastness of void, and all the beauty and terror that came with it. They both knew that they had done this before, and they both knew that she wasn’t always able to adjust to the idea of emotions while the other’s mind would sometimes rebel against knowledge it wasn’t able to comprehend, but together they endured, had endured since they were born together.

She felt her thoughts merging with the other. A smile crept across their face and they whispered out loud “We are Mashiki”. There was no longer strictly her and the other. Mashiki touched her lip where it ached. She was bleeding, the drop of black blood seeming to quiver of its own accord for the briefest of moments before lying still. She couldn’t live outside of Her and She couldn’t live without Her inside, and that made perfect sense.

Mashiki looked at her forearm for a few moments, watching the faint grey veins ever so slowly writhe beneath her skin. She smiled again, it felt good to be together again, but now to the matter at hand. Where were they?

I would like a chance to throw my hat in the ring. I tried running this AP months ago and only got past the very, very beginning...

Thank you everyone for your character submissions!! You all made it very difficult for me to pick, I wanted to use everyone! But I could only pick 5. I picked the most balanced party I could, one that covered most if not all of the skill bases, as well as provided enough versatility, survivability, and damage. I also weighed everyone’s character concepts and backgrounds, which was particularly delightful.

This is the party I would like to play with:

Silas was born the son of landed nobility in the nation of Cheliax, where the ruling class makes deals with devils to maintain their power.. Silas, being a good person, used his power to help those who he could, eventually joining the Bellflower network. It was during his time with the network that he came to realize that he was too exposed to magical divination, and with the help of one of their more eclectic members, learned to mask his identity even from the most potent magics. During this time, he also learned to wield his innate magic power as a lethal energy weapon, summoning bolts of electricity that proved useful when opposing the infernal threat that (as he sees it) plagues his land.

Here is Von-Dai Cress, a human Psychic with the Lore Discipline. Not quite Wisdom-focused, but he does use it.

For what it's worth, if you're interested, I can make maps with a fog layer that gets erased as the party explores. Here's an example.

Delaria Anders grew up in the town of Belhaim. During her thirteenth summer she was chosen by the gods to bring life, and healing to those around her. In exchange for these powers, her patron took most of her sight. Her eyes became a milky color almost silver. Her parents didn’t know what to do with this development. They expected her to be a seamstress. They loved her, and tried to help her become independent.

Life as a teenager was hard. The other kids liked to throw clods of dirt and rocks at her from a distance. Of course Del couldn't see who was doing the throwing. That’s has made her mistrustful of most people her age.

A witch (Insanity Patron) with rat familiar.
She brings from the beginning major debuffing power and some fantastic Knowledge skills to the table.

Mark Seifter clarified that Comprehensive Education is meant to give +1 to each Knowledge skill that you already get as a class skill, not +1 times the number of Knowledge class skills you have.

So Zephyros would have a +1 racial bonus to those skills, not +4.


Would you consider some third party materials? Dreamscarred Press recently released the Malefex,which somewhat fills the role of a wisdom based, hexblade-y combatant, with a heavy focus on debuffing. I'd especially like to play a Hexbreather, (Also from Dreamscarred Press,from their Bloodforge supplement) which is a cross between an Orc and a Hag, and I can help provide any information about either that you require. In the meantime, I will both get started thinking about this character idea, as alternative, though this is definitely my go-to.

Edit: I've got a definite idea for where a Hexbreather would come frim and/or why a Hexbreather could be waking up in the asylum, but I could very easily play a more common race.

Edit2: While the class has some supernatural elements,I should clarify that the class has no casting, manifesting, initiating, or anything else like that.

Dot - will take a look at the warpriest class.

I could also go Monk/Zen Archer... Do you have a preference?

Of the two, probably a warpriest would be more helpful.

Also, not interested in 3rd party material at this time!
