"Be it so known that the bearer of this charter has been charged
by the Swordlords of Restov, acting upon the greater good and
authority vested within them by the office of the Regent of the
Dragonscale Throne, is so granted the right of exploration and travel within the wilderness region known as the Greenbelt. Exploration should be limited to an area no further than thirty-six miles east and west and sixty miles south of Oleg’s Trading Post. The bearer of this charter should also strive against banditry and other unlawful behavior to be encountered.
The punishment for unrepentant banditry remains, as always, execution by sword or rope.
So witnessed on this 24th day of Calistril, under watchful eye of the Lordship of Restov and authority granted by Lord Noleski Surtova, current Regent of The Dragonscale Throne."
Anyone up for playing the Kingmaker AP?
I'm looking for five(5) players who can commit to one post a day for long enough to finish the AP. More posts is fine, but since I'm only on in the evenings after work, and weekends, the daily rate is the maximum speed we could expect. On the other hand, with a posting rate of less than daily, we will literally never finish, and I would very much like to finish this one.
Many of the PbP games I've been in seem to die out a bit on the weekends. I'd like to avoid this, so players who are able to find the time for weekend posting will be prefered. Naturally, I wouldn't expect everyone to always be able to post, and I get away from the internet sometimes as well. Advance notice in these occasions is always appreciated.
Character generation.
Abilities. Use the following array: 15, 14, 14, 14, 12, 12. I call this the action hero array, the dual talent alternate racial trait works quite well with it.
Traits: 3 traits, one must be a Kingmaker champaign trait. No drawbacks.
The characters will start at first level and with average wealth for their class.
Races: This is a tough one, I don't want to limit this too much. I had a great time playing a suli. Monster races are out of course. No goblins, no kobolds, no strix, no full-blood orcs, etc. Your kingdom will be mostly populated by humans, so races that can pass as human are best, but races that are allies to humans should be fine.
Alignment: I place minimal emphasis on alignment. However, I'm not at all interested in running an evil campaign, so no evil alignments. Your character should be a good team player, regardless of alignment.
We will be using the Kingdom system from Ultimate Champaign.
The Downtime systems from UC will be in play as desired. Except earning XP.
We will be using Hero Points from the APG.
We will not be using Pathfinder Unchained.
Completed submissions will need an alias with a completed stat-block. Not in spoilers please. You will need a brief background story, and a short character description. Don't forget height and weight. A paragraph about your char's personality is optional.
Those familiar with the Campaign rules will know that there are actually 10 vital rulership positions. I expect each character to fill two of these roles each. That means a minimum of 14 days each month need to be spent ruling. 7 days for each role. If the characters want to recruit NPCs for some of the kingdom roles that is perfectly acceptable to me. Either option, or a mix of both is fine. The leadership feat will be available.
Paizo materials only.

GM Waterhammer |

When you say not using Unchained, do you mean the optional rules in it or the classes? Rogue at least is pretty dire without the Unchained buffs and still not amazing after. Also, what classes are available?
All Paizo classes are available. It should fit the setting though.
I'm pretending that I don't own the book (Pathfinder Unchained). There's stuff in there I like too. But, everything is a little too fiddly. Gives me a headache.

...... seriously?
I finally finish getting all my planning done, post an interest check, write up a recruitment post at work, and when I come home from dinner, there's a Kingmaker recruitment posted by someone else? REALLY?
Whatever. Have fun. I'm not competing for players and I'm not taking leftovers. I'll try again in November.

Wa? You do know that is like one of the top four APs. There is like a recruitment for this near every other week. You are going to get plenty of people regardless. I wouldn't be surprised if two more pop up tomorrow.

Fenn 'The Jr' {Winter} |

Well.. I may have to modify his stats slightly.. but ...shrug.. consider Fenn?
EDIT 1#
Hmmm made changes... in stats. Not sure about Campaign trait... Considering Fenn is a Bastard of some sort and he has NO knowledge of whom... or even if his Pa is in fact his actual father... I'm not sue which is more appropriate... Bastard or Noble Born: MedVyed?
EDIT 2#
For the time being.. I will drop his {Religion} Trait: Starchild [DESNA]... and leave his campaign trait unknown and let YOU Mr. GM Waterhammer decide what you want it to be as Fenn develops and discovers his true parentage, as EVEN I don't know.. and don't really want to know until its revealed in the game?
Fenn is a wonder, though his life has been rough and empty of any familial affection or care.. he seems to have a boundless capacity to care for those around him! He is NOTHING like his father Fenn ‘The Sr.’! Fenn Jr. is polite, helpful, courageous and kind …always willing to help those in need. He has a ‘country-gentleman’s’ sense of chivalry and honor when it comes to young women and is ever ready to defend a woman’s honor - though he is very shy around very pretty women. He is not much on being dutiful to chores… BUT, will without being asked, chop a whole stack of wood for a widow in need! In his farming hamlet of Little Tree, he is something of a local hero handy-man. Not much on chores but always willing to help when the need is great. He is seen~ part as a lackadaisical lout and just as much as a golden-hearted paragon protector of the farmers in and around Little Tree! Fenn doesn’t have a hateful thought in his heart to anyone… but he don’t hold well with the unquiet dead.. and he puts such unfortunate monstrosities down with a fiery zeal!
Fenn has started to range far and wide from his home town… a growing wanderlust in his heart. Most in Little Tree don’t think it will be long before Fenn takes to the road to see the world… and will miss the young local hero when it does happen. Fenn himself has only stayed as he doesn’t want to leave the town without his occasional help.
If there is one person who would be Fenn’s enemy it his father Fenn ‘The Sr'. Fortunately for Fenn his father is rarely around~ usually off hatching some hurtful ‘get-rich’ scheme or another. Fenn Sr. is a drunkard and violent man… who takes great relish in demeaning Fenn at every possible turn. Fenn Sr. has never revealed who Fenn Jr's. Mother is or why he even bothered to bring him as a toddler back to be mostly raised by his grandmother, Marilyn – before consumption took her life as well. But when Fenn Sr. is around~ brutal beatings and cruel intentions are all Fenn {Winter} has learned to expect from his ‘Pap’ - as he calls him.
But Fenn refuses to fight or hurt his ‘Pap’... he IS his father after all!
But despite his brutal and abusive father Fenn never lets it get him down. He is fond of saying, “… Ah’m sure somewhere tha’ is someone whose got it worse than meh! At least-wise Ah’m free to roam were Ah will under tha’ bright sun… and smoke a pipe or two on occasion’! Ah ain’t got it so bad!”
--------------------
HT: 6'0", WT: 116lbs, Eyes: Green
Hair: Sandy Brown
Skin: Lightly Tanned, Nose and cheeks lightly freckled
Fenn is a handsome rustic youth. His elven heritage is subdued as his ears almost look normal compared to humans… however his pale green eyes reveal his extra-human heritage. His sandy blonde hair is just a little too long… and almost always unkempt and left to hang loose. The bridge of his nose and cheeks are still lightly frosted with freckles. He has a rather pronounced country dral to his speech.
Fenn dresses in simple woodsman clothing with no fanciness. All his clothing is just simple serviceable in shades of brown and grey. Grey chemise and workman’s vest, leather trousers and buckskin boots, thick leather belt and wool travel cloak.
His weapons and armor he made himself through trial and error working in the forge… they are plan and unadorned …perhaps a little crude but certainly solidly crafted and maintained with keen edge and cleaned regularly. All are carried in roughly made leather sheaths or scabbards.
To all outward appearances he is merely a peasant yeoman with serviceable if crudely made gear… a country boy. Occasionally, Fenn likes to smoke his simple cornstalk pipe with its long handle.
--------------------
”The Good Son”
Fenn 'The Jr' "Winters" was nothing but Special! He was the bastard son of a pretty unsavory woodsman and nare-do-well thuggish man named Finnagin 'Stonesson' called 'Fenn' for short. Fenn 'The Jr's' mother was never named by Fenn 'The Sr.' As further insult and disregard for his son he gave him the surname of "Winter" the season he was born. A grave insult as it was traditional to name bastard children with no family of their own after the season they were born in. Fenn 'The Sr.' was known to be a mean unfriendly cheating sort involved in all sort of criminal activity. Fenn 'The Sr's' father, Stonnard, went off to serve in the militia and was killed by a bandit's arrow leaving his sickly wife, Marilyn, to raise Finnagin on her own - already a rebellious sort, until consumption took her life when 'Fenn' hit age 16. Fenn 'The Sr.' just went from bad to worse from then on.
However, Fenn 'The Jr.' was his complete opposite, kind, considerate and loyal if a bit lackadaisical when it came to doing chores or serious work. In that, Fenn 'The Jr' was amazing; because despite how much his father abused, bullied, and beat him the boy grew up strong and courageous. One of those rare people with a heart of gold! A true hero!

Garbund |

@ GM Waterhammer:
I'm going to submit Garbund for this Adventure Path.
I tried to get him into a Kingmaker table some time back, and thought I'd give him another go.
I just need to make a back story for him.
I wasn't happy with the original backstory I had.
I picked the Pioneer AP trait.
Hence, having a horse to start.
Anyway, let me know if I should change anything before I post a backstory.
Thanks!

Deaths Adorable Apprentice |

As much as I am interested in a modified game I would rather play this from the start in a un-modified light. Would you be ok with an Alchemist? I have always wanted to play one. Either that or a ranger. Rangers are a wonderful class.
Oh and could I be a pathfinder? That would be my reason for wanting to join in on this little expedition. My goal would be to catalog everything that is happening. These are uncharted lands and who knows what could be found here. I have always had a fascination with this group.
I can do a post a day usually more than one assume the game is moving forward swiftly. Saturdays are my free day so I can generally get a post in easily sometimes more than one. While Sundays are my live game some I am more likely to only get a single post in that day.

Pyros Aldori |

This is Ouachitonian. decided to go a different direction. Here's my submisssion; Pyros Aldori, devoted student of the Swordlords. I tried to make him something more than a generic fighter in the backstory, hope you like him.
He's going to be built as a Dex-based fighter, using Weapon Finesse, slashing grace, and the like. Won't be super-high damage, but he should be a good defensive frontliner, and has more and better skills than many fighters. Eventually, I'll get around to taking the Ifrit Scorching Weapons line of racial feats, which should help his damage output. Might eventually prestige class into Duelist or the Swordlord Prestige class, but we'll see.
Spymaster and Magister would probably be his first two choices for role, but he could serve ably as a Marshal or Royal Enforcer as well.

Darg Blonke: Your ability array is a bit off, might want to change that.
Fenn 'The Jr' {Winter} You really should select your own traits.
SCKnightHero1: A catfolk cavalier is purr-fectly acceptable. (sorry, couldn't stop myself.)
Deaths Adorable Apprentice: Alchemist is fine, or ranger. Pathfinder membership is OK.
Orannis: The Boon Companion feat is OK.
I think that covers all the questions. I apologize if I missed someone. I had errands to run this evening after work, so I didn't really have a chance to look at anyone's character. I'll get back to it tomorrow, after work.

Sweet! I'll try and get my character up sometime tomorrow! When is the deadline if you don't mind me asking?

![]() |

Orannis: The Boon Companion feat is OK.
Sorry, I'm not sure I was being clear enough in my question, so I just wanted to detail what I meant: Taking Boon Companion multiple times: Once for each dog. I believe, that by strictest RAW, you can't make use of it because both dogs function off the same class ability granting the animal companion. However, from what I have read a great many GM's allow for it to be taken once for each companion, in order to keep the archetype effective at what it's supposed to do.
If my question was clear the first time, I apologize for the repeat. I wasn't super explicit and I don't know if you're familiar with the issue in question, so I just want to be completely clear.

Ouachitonian |

On hero points: I've never actually used them before, and on reviewing the PRD, it mentions the possibility of "anti-heroes" who get a bonus feat instead (here). Can I do that? If not that's cool too, I'm willing to learn, but someone's going to need to tell me where to find the Hero Points option on HeroLab, as is I'm not seeing it.

Deaths Adorable Apprentice |

A few questions. How are you doing gold? If was mentioned and I missed it sorry.
Is leadership an option later? This certainly seems the campaign for it.
What were those 10 positions you mentioned so I can be sue I am not wrong?
How do you feel about romance popping up in the game? Either between players or with a player and an NPC? Typically most rulers had to produce offspring. And most people actually want some form of romantic companionship. Obviously this would be done so that anything inappropriate would be faded to black.
How will you be handling the combat?

Autumn Moon |

These are the roles he means, I'm 99% sure.
Some what, Kingmaker actually had them listed, and the skills that go with them, in the player's guide. On page 6. They are:
Ruler: CharismaCouncilor: Wisdom or Charisma
General: Strength or Charisma
Grand Diplomat: Intelligence or Charisma
High Priest: Wisdom or Charisma
Magister: Intelligence or Charisma
Marshal: Dexterity or Wisdom
Royal Assassin: Strength or Dexterity
Spymaster: Dexterity or Intelligence
Treasurer: Intelligence or Wisdom
Warden: Strength or Constitution
Now I will also point out that on the bottom of page 13 is the Kingdom Sheet. It shows two slots for Ruler. I believe the second slot would be taken by Consort, just consort was not a thing at the time Kingmaker came out.

Deaths Adorable Apprentice |

So I am going Alchemist, because they are awesome, and I am wanting to take the grenadier archetype and that gives a martial weapon. But I am not sure what I want. I am torn between a longbow because I am a ranged combatant. A scythe because it is awesome and would look cool. Or a long sword. Any thoughts?
I also love the sylvan language!

Dorian 'Grey' |

Dotting for interest.
Thinking of going Investigator, as my initial thought.
I will download the players guide, and read it over first.
I am able to post every day. I am on the boards daily.
Also, how long is recruitment open? I will need to research and build and write up a backstory geared toward this AP.
Thank you for running.
