Might want to start using spoiler tags there.
And yes, it was the epic journey adventure path, not the Tian Xia adventure path.
To keep calling it that, is both disingenuous and false advertising. :-)

I think the answers to what does and doesn't sell well lie in what they put out 2-3 years later, since book development takes 1-2 years added to the 1 year to get the final figures on what sells. I think it is real obvious now that the Iron Gods AP sold really well because they certainly wouldn't be putting out Starfinder if they had found out people don't like sci-fi in their fantasy.
They put out distant shores for the sole reason of letting people vote with their wallets did you all buy it I did. If it sold reasonably well they will probably move toward doing a continent hardcover if it didn't don't hold your breath. If it sold really well then We will probably get an announcement at Gen-con that next summers big hardcover will be that book.
Ultimately they will probably have to move in that direction at least somewhat as they run out of places to make sourcebooks for in the innersea region.
I personally was not excited about a hobgoblin invasion as a topic for an AP and I highly suspect the next AP after Iron fang will go back to Varisia and another runelord in honor of the 10th anniversary.
And while Strange Aeons sounds interesting, Hell's rebels was meh and Hells Vengeance is somewhat disturbing, I read these books and I find myself rooting for the character's enemies.

Maybe you should stop calling Jade Regent the Tian Xia AP and call it what it really is: The Caravan AP
Hey kids, want to adventure in Tien Xia? Well too bad, because first you have to journey about 4 1/2 books just to get to it. Be sure to get the damn lore books for it, or not, by then it may not matter as you've given up by the 3rd book.
Have Fun.

As a huge fan of Jade Regent, you miss the mark.
Book one is one of the most entertaining modules I've ever run, the first part was absolutely magnificent and Brinewall Castle was a blast with so many memorable opponents, with an amazing ending.
Book two has issues but was almost equally amazing, the ending of that one was a hoot to run and my party loved the intrigue in the Viking city aspect of it.
Book three was crazy, there were parts I messed with, I ramped up the polar isolation and Lovecraft elements. Overall it worked very well and they were happy to see their first lowland crocus as they made it out of the storm and mountains.
We had a flea infestation and all our characters were lost right as they were doing the first part of book four.
So, in summary, we rather liked the journey. :-)

None the less, your earlier comment was correct. Calling Jade Regent an Asian or a Tien Xia Adventure Path was disingenuous.

Pretty much.

How did I just say it was the Tian Xia adventure path. How? In what way.
It's the epic journey adventure path, my previous post only reinforces that, if you want to put words in my mouth, so be it. But you're treading on dangerous ground if you do.
I may have misinterpreted your intent. You were praising the Jade Regient AP, however, you are correct to point out that your were praising in terms of being a "dangerous travel" AP, not a "Asian setting" AP.

Well this is disingenuous, too, unless you want it to be the "Japan expy AP", which is something nobody ever promised.

It looks like Scotland and Wales vs an Imperial Shogun/9 daimyo setup version of Norman England, based on the descriptions of Molthune and Nirmathas.
That seems like a stretch when the obvious, in-your-face inspiration for Nirmathas is Switzerland's national myth. Molthune plays the role of Austria/the Empire in this tale, wearing a Prussian uniform from several centuries on to look more competent.

Honest question. Why is everyone so high on an Arcadia AP?
Pocahontas was a great movie!
On a more serious note, "let's do this white man meets red man again, except maybe with less blood and exploitation" is likely alluring to many non-native Americans.

Honest question. Why is everyone so high on an Arcadia AP?
Because it's one of the least covered non-European settings. There's at least some material to play with if you want Asian, Arabian or African gaming. You can do Jade Regent, Legacy of Fire, Mummy's Mask, Serpent's Skull, not to mention modules and Campaign Settings set in those areas. So those appetites have been sated a little bit.
For Arcadia, we have one sixth of a single Campaign Setting book, and that's it.

Honest question. Why is everyone so high on an Arcadia AP?
I sense part of the appeal is the skinwalkers being something other than the usual Tolkein races.

So the comic series has two of the runelords waking up, and Book of the Damned volumes have appeared. It would be interesting to chase down / fail to prevent the reunification of TBOD and end in Varisia, rather than start or stay there for a whole AP.

Given how water-themed the Path's going to be, I think there's a good possibility of some Low Azlanti showing up. ^_^
