My brother in law is cool.
I can't stand the oldest sister, but my brother in law is a stand up guy. He's quiet, stoic, and hard working. Many people think he's mean cause he's even more introverted than I am, extremely quiet, and has the male version of Resting B*tchface so hard he looks constantly pissed off...but he's always treating their sister's kids and his son like royalty, so he's stand up by me.
Now, the sister...ugh...I would literally leave town whenever she was in the city if it weren't for her awesome kids. She, however, is literally the worst human being I am forced to interact with on a regular basis.

I've enjoyed it, but while it *does* work, the DLCs aren't available to me and the max level is 20, which is odd. Amongst other things, to get it to work I needed to download the unofficial patch, and that said that I had all the DLCs.
I don't know why the DLCs aren't available. Anyone know what I can do?(Edit: Extra info. I bought the game from Amazon, which game me a Steam code to download it. Don't know if that makes a difference.)
Yep, I've clicked on the Data Files option. How are you supposed to load them?
BTW, Fawkes is a nutjob! A *handy* nutjob though, with his gatling laser.
And... those deathclaws in Old Olney can *open doors*! :O They can't stand up to three plasma rifle headshots, though! ;)

Wow! The Brotherhood is going down!
Murdering doctors? Too far!
You'll find, I think, that such a regrettable incident was not policy- and Veronica still gets upset if you kill OTHER Brotherhood members besides the jerkwads you killed there.
Also the NCR gave me three days to help them out otherwise they're throwing down as well.
But.. I.. I just got back!
The NCR does not forget. Be grateful that, unlike the Legion, they give you a "do nice stuff to get your rep out of the basement and we WON'T come after you" warning.

Make sure all the checkboxes are clicked (by default only the one for the main game is). Then when you go into the game, you should suddenly get like three or four more radio signals (and they'll pop up in your quests as like "Not of this World" and a couple of others. If you've already checked the boxes and they're not coming up in the game, then I don't know.

Yeah, there's a few dead end areas, the Deathclaw quarry is a waste of time (or is it...).
It's only a waste of time if you don't enjoy one-shotting Deathclaws and giggling with manic glee from atop one of the ore elevators.
You get a little NCR rep if you tell Chomps about it-and it makes his Khan daughter easier to have a quiet chat with.

Fallout Rampage Cap'n Furiosa |

The thing is, the NCR is right not to like me, the only thing I haven't done is nuke them (yet) I also could've went all doomsday device on them (always next time) but then the only reason the legion goons aren't hunting me is I'm still carrying his stupid mark, but even they aren't long for this world, and of course now we went all turncoat on the Brotherhood.
Pretty much the only people that like us are the Boomers, and Novak, also Primm and Goodsprings.
But none of that matters, cause I'll either back Mister House or take over myself.
Haven't decided yet, nor will I soon, I have DLC and other stuff to do first, so much other stuff (just nothing in casinos, for a while at least.

Very well, you've talked me into it.

Oh hello Mrs Deathclaw mom, you have your family all together, isn't that nice, oh this, yes this is Esther, have you not met.
Oh dear, now she's made a mess of things. What's that mister I got the balls Alpha Deathclaw dad, you haven't met her either, oh my, where are my manners. Well, now she's angry, why don't you come back later, no, you really want to do this, huh.
Oopsy doodle! Now we really made a mess of things.
drops handkerchief on one mangled Deathclaw body
I'm sure the miners won't mind cleaning things up.
This rampage was brought to you by Stealthboy, allowing couriers to rampage Stimpak free since.. whenever. Remember! If you're not wearing a Stealthboy, you're probably already dead. disclaimer: may not actually prolong life.

Well, gots to take the dog out pissing around the house, but I should get a bit of time between cleaning.
Nice thing about Deathclaw Quarry, is no loot (that I noticed, didn't go down into a big hole I saw).
I went in, did my devastation, walked out.
There's a Fatman down the hole, which probably isn't interesting to you at this point, but it was the first one I found in the game, because I tackled the Quarry WAY too early. I think I was only like tenth level tops, but I had just enough stealth to sneak past everything, get on top of a big crane thing where nothing could follow me, and proceeded to clear the area with a hunting rifle. I had essentially no ammo left when all was said and done.

Are there extra Mininukes down there?
If Mothership Zeta and Downtown D.C. taught me anything, it's you can never have enough Mininukes.
Probably? As I recall (after finding it AFTER the fight was done) it had a body down there that you looted it off of, as if the idea was that you would find it and then have a chance at a previously unwinnable fight. But it's sort of weird placement, because it's really difficult for you to end up in there without having already killed the big momma.

I kind of meant which DLC, my bad, I wasn't terribly clear I guess, I kind of wanna wait a little bit before I advance too far in the main story as I tend to then take it all the way to the end. :-)
Well...
Dead Money-> Old World Blues-> Lonesome Road is the order of a rough "trilogy," and Ulysses refers to the events leading up to Honest Hearts in some of his journal entries.
But don't feel compelled to do all DLCs... there's always the next character, and the hardware to complete the core story is there in the Mojave.
Honest Hearts can be ground out and completed in a hurry (or you can, like me, take forever on it just for the lulz) and is arguably the least coercive in terms of character actions. No bomb collar, no missing organs, no "you HAVE to launch that nuke because you know no better!" However, a lot of the gear you get is only so-so,especially if you wait too long. The completion care package has some awesome stuff in it, though.
Dead Money is...Dead Money.
Old World Blues has a certain gonzo appeal, but it's a massive tonal shift from what's going on in the Mojave, and it's sorta hard to take the battle for Hoover Damn seriously when Big MT has a clearly absurd technological edge that you end the DLC in a position to exploit.
Lonesome Road... well. The gear is phenomenal. But the shoehorning Ulysses does with your backstory is a bit annoying. You HONESTLY don't remember this place you supposedly "created" the road to? Yeah, you get around, and don't settle down, but the Divide being such a mystery to you is kind of annoying.

Honest Hearts has one of the best random bits of side story though with the Survivalist diaries scattered around. Also, despite being buried way on the other side of the map, it's really really low level. I ended up there the first time at like level 50, and it was about 30 levels too late to be anything resembling a challenge.

Fallout Rampage Cap'n Yesterday |

The ones I've played
Honest Hearts (completed once)
Lonesome Road (completed once)
Dead Money (that is all I care to say)
Old World Blues (quit due to lack of supplies, adequate ammunition, and general frustration with the whole damn place).
Except for Dead Money, those were on my first play through.
I'm currently on my second play through.
Also I didn't complete it first time, just almost completed it.

I've heard a theory that the courier is a synth, which is how you can have a 10 int after a bullet in the head; they don't need their whole brain to function. It also explains how you can be more physically capable than Legion soldiers who've trained their whole life, or a better shot than an NCR ranger or 1st recon sniper. If that's the case, you could be memory wiped like the synth in Fallout.

Nah, given the amount of times the Courier can refer to prior experience, I think you're just meant to be that damn tough.
Also, the brains in Big MT take out your brain, heart, and spine- I think if the Courier were a synth, there'd be some comments to that effect.

Redbeard the Scruffy |

The fact that you can live without your brain, I think, lends credence to the synth theory.
Yeah, they're androids. They're all over fallout 4, I hear. There's three generations - gen 1 are like robots, gen 2 are like Data in Star Trek or the robots in I Robot, and gen 3 are like Robin Williams at the end of Bicentennial Man - almost indistinguishable from humans. The Courier could easily be a Gen 3 synth.

Exactly: Synths have "synth components" -- artificial components in their brains, so if the Courier were a synth, both possibly Doc Mitchell and definitely the Sink Auto-Doc would have found that when operating on the Courier's brain. The Followers Doctor who can give you cybernetic implants would also be likely to have noticed, especially if she gave you the Intelligence implant.
It would also be highly unlikely a synth had gotten that far West. Possible, sure--the Broken Mask incident in Diamond City was 60 years prior to Fallout 4, so 50 years prior to Fallout NV and Fallout 3, so 3rd gen synths would have been around long enough. But the likelihood that one made it from the East Coast to Nevada--through Legion Territory--seems highly unlikely. Kellogg IIRC came out East before the Legion got as powerful as it is, and the same goes for the Eastern chapters of the Brotherhood.
But even if it was possible--again, the Courier should have a synth component that any number of Doctors or auto-docs would have found.
While it's not clear she endured exactly the same thing, Christine also lost at least a chunk of her brain to Big MT and also survived personality intact, and it's unlikely she's a synth either. So the Courier is not unique in that regard.
Sometimes people when suffering brain damage, other parts of the brain effectively take over functions that they technically shouldn't be "in charge" of. Of course Courier lost the brain completely, including the amygdala (brain and spine were replaced) so that doesn't really apply. Other possibilities---
- The Courier's real brain is still somehow "connected" to the Courier via brainwaves/broadcast from its tank in the Big MT
- It is possible in the Fallout universe to copy human neural patterns onto a robotic/cybernetic framework (Fallout 4 also proves the vice versa is possible) -- that is, for example, how Mr. House created Jane. Perhaps the Sink Auto-Doc copied the Courier's neural impulses into her/his cybernetic brain. Remember, part of why the Courier is an "improved lobotomite" is because the Sink Auto-Doc was forced to improve/correct the procedure. Part of the Auto-Doc's efforts to save the Courier may have included a neural mapping effort onto the new cyborg nervous system.
- The Courier is, like many denizens of the Southwest, a mutant, and has a secondary brain in her ass. (This is my primary Courier's personal explanation for the phenomenon.)
