Spirit is a more interesting term but can include outsiders, incorporeal creatures, fey, some magical beast, and even some dragons. Maybe even some corporeal undead and plants.

You do know it doesn't have to be an outsider to be used for planar adventures;)

The First World is a strange place were there are more then four seasons, temporal anomalies, constant changing environments, etc. I think an umbrella monster could fit in.

I have been reading some of the collected works of August Derleth and their are a couple of stories that have creepy monsters that I cannot identify having a Pathfinder version.

The story The Satin Mask has a mask creature the drains it's victims and binds their souls, the mask in the story was very creepy.

The story The Drifting Snow has some kind of ice vampire that drains it's victims through it's frozen touch and once touched it can compel escaped victims to return.

Those two I found to be particularly creepy and they would certainly fit well in a Horror themed bestiary.


A cold themed vampire would be interesting.

Mask creature would be cool if it's body was a shadow or solid darkness.


Speaking of Masks, we need more creatures(non-psychopomps) that wear masks, are made of masks, or is just a mask. Maybe a living mask that animates whatever materials it can find to create a body such as eath, wood, darkness, water, fire, metal, etc.

A more powerful version of the Almiraj and more rabbit based monsters in general. Maybe a giant(large size)rabbit or something like the dreaded beast from Monty Python's The Holy Grail.

I would still like to see some clown and mime themed monsters.

Hmm... maybe Kuchisake-onna.

Or the undead of actors who can change their forms as they please now except for their masks. Or a fey who can take peoples faces and turn them into masks for it to wear.

Would be hard to take seriously.... Almiraj is hard enough to take seriously to begin with :P

Clown vampires, clown zombies, clown goblins... "clown" is mostly a wardrobe choice.

I wouldn't mind seeing some sort of evil jester fey, though.

Could even play with the mask concept a bit (which I wholeheartedly second)- besides the Psychopomps we have the Apostasy Wraith- a more setting-agnostic take on those could be interesting.

And face-stealing is awesome.

Rabbit monsters seem like a comedy/novelty choice- and as Night of the Lepus demonstrated, the comedy's not always worth the hassle. While I personally detest the proliferation of ratfolk/catfolk/chinchillafolk, the only angle which rabbits offer that has even a scrap of appeal would be Redwall-esque Harefolk. Some Watership Down-inspired culture would make the pill go down a lot easier.

Some sort of Pied Piper-style thing could be interesting... I mean, it's nothing you can't replicate by building the right sort of bard or whatever, but making it a creature that feeds on a community's breach of faith by taking their children....


Yes, jester themed creatures would be cool as well.

Milo, I remember that story though sounds like a good ghost story for cosmetic surgery gone wrong then a clown monster.

Killer clowns from outer wasn't just make-up/wardrobe choices, I like idea that clowns were based on a real creatures.

A creature that mimes/mimics other peoples actions/abilities or by miming actually creates those effects on other targets like wind effects or force field boxes.

More types of serpent folk such ones with multiple heads/limbs, 10-20' barbed tongues, snakes for arms, shape shifting abilities, spilled blood becomes snakes/snake swarms, can shed skin to escape, ability to summon or control reptiles, etc.

I would like a 0HD rabbitfolk type race as well. They are among the few animal races left I would really like to see. Well at least as playable ones anyway.

We got a pied piper style fey a while back in one of the APs.


An expanded and consolidated Monster Cohort table, so I don't have to reference 10 books to see the monster cohort options.

Include at least one more hag (not necessarily a new hag) as a potential cohort (hopefully with effective cohort level no higher than the 9-12 range).

I know they are deity level, but I would like to see stat blocks on the four horsemen of the apocalypse. Or at least a CR 20 avatar of each.

They aren't deities, just demigods like ordinary demon lords or archdevils. Unlike Lamashtu/Asmodeus, there is no daemon deity equivalent, except maybe the dead Oinodaemon.

Neutral good, like the alignment.
In Bartok the Magnificent, Baba Yaga was nice.
In Disney's Frog and the Prince, set in louisiana the blind magic lady was a wise woman.


Some more types of undead that the base creature is a specific race. They did one for the Stryx and I would like to see ones specific to catfolk, goblins, etc.

A type of undead that is a Cyclopes' head/skull that fires a beam of energy from it's eye.

I am surprised we haven't seen a type of undead ooze yet.

A type of skeletal undead that is covered in a green gel/slime/ooze that grants fast healing and can keeps the skeleton together. But fire/heat makes the creature brittle. I saw it on an episode of the 2002 version of He-Man.


Non-human undead should be the future of undead, I think. Beyond the truly nauseating stuff, I can't really think of many more undead humans that would really be interesting. Well, except for a few Yokai and a number of unique mythical vampires, the latter of which could work largely as few, fiends, or monstrous humanoids. Vampires actually haven't been nearly as done-to-death as I would have thought they would be. Same with lycanthropes.

The "wise woman" archetype, ranging between all alignments, is common in world mythology. I would like to see some of them, possibly as fey or native outsiders.

I recall Ravenloft (of all places!) had good-aligned Hags of a relatively weak sort called "Bruja."

I tend to prefer a different approach, simply because Hags have their claw attacks and iron-hard skin and the like...

Fey seems a solid choice. Could even make a case for it being the precursor to hags- fewer natural weapons, more magic.

There are Norns, not quite Good, but not Evil.

But they don't can't Covens (though they should).

The wise woman, the immortal one, could be any good.
A better name for neutral hags would be Grey Ladies.
The norns might be mythic grey ladies. One lawful neutral, one pure neutral, and one chaotic neutral.

Wow that has been a while. I really needed that long Holiday.

There is so much I want to say about everything I missed, but because it will be all negative and evil comments, I will hold back. For now.

Anyway

I want more monsters from Resident Evil and Diablo games, both my most played games EVER, add Lufia and you have my top 3 games.

Note, that i'm not a sucker for famous monsters, I like the less known, creatures that most humans ignore, but which have most potentional and most bizarre abilities/stories.
Sooooo Nemesis/Tyrant can kiss my ass.

The 10 best from: RESIDENT EVIL

10: Adjule
- Adjule is a boring cryptid from African folklore, so to spice it up the horrid mutant dog variety from Resident Evil 5 could be used, these creatures are more maw than dog, but more than awesome, they were also used in one of the movies, they look sickening but are cool anyway.

09: Sea Creeper
- A humanoid Horseshoe Crab mutant that hides in water and which jumps at you if you notice it too late. They look awesome, and it is a more original combination of humanoid and animal. And I have a weak spot for these ancient animals, horseshoe crabs rock! These are from Resident Evil Revelations 1.

08: Gnezdo
- These are mutant Bee's, Flies or Wasps which control small normal flying insects and form them into organized swarms that can take humanoid form or any form they desire as the Gnezdo itself is an intelligent creature with control over other vermin. They are from Resident Evil 6, the worst game, but with some of the best enemies.

07: Iron Maiden
- By far the most freaky normal enemies in any Resident Evil game, they appear in Resident Evil 4 which is the best resident evil by far, they have extreme regeneration as there are also similar creatures called Regenerators, these Iron Maidens are upgrades which add dangerous spikes they can lengthen to impale their prey. To end their horrid regeneraton you have to destroy all the parasites that hide inside its body at random.

06: U-3
- This bizarre mutant is also one of the freakiest boss fights in Resident Evil 4. I just love this creature, there isn't much too add, it looks like a bizarre Earwig mutant, I love it.

05: Reaper
- If there is a copyright problem, I think the Native American Haakapainizi could look like these horrid locust mutants, they are perfect for it! They come from Resident Evil 5, but Resident Evil 4 has Novistadors which are flying/invisible locust monsters. They have the arms of a mantis and if you shoot them they create a gas that hides their location.

04: Lepotitsa
- These horrid, ugly and disgusting infected appear in Resident Evil 6, they have huge pores on their bodies that may appear as female boobs, but they emit gasses that turn humans (maybe also other creatures) into zombies at a very alarming rate. The blue gas can also be used in pathfinder to create mutants or anything else from. Much potentional and a very disgusting enemy.

03: Licker
- The most famous Resident Evil monster in this list is the Licker, they appear in most Resident Evil parts but are at their best in Resident Evil 5. They are are like horrid, aggressive Akanames with long tongues they use as spear. Their overal appearance is just too cool to leave out of this list.

02: Verdugo
- My least favorite boss fight in Resident Evil 4 because it is so freaking hard and scary. Verdugo looks like a mixture of insect, alien and humanoid, it appears much like the Rat Mutant from Split Second (1992). The creature looks awesome to say the least and could do well with Pathfinder as well.

01: Plaga
- There are many infected, mutants or in Resident Evil 6 known as J'avo. These look like normal humans until you shoot them and they rapidly mutate into a dangerous, horrid form, some gain a moth or spider lowerbody and others gain mantis or centipede arms, there is no telling what bizarre mutation appears after you shoot them.
In Pathfinder these could be AlpLuachra-like creatures that enter still living bodies and mutate them from within, only when the victim is hurt these creatures defend themselves from within by turning the host into a living weapon.

The 10 best from: DIABLO

10: Dune Dervish
- A strange undead creature, what I really like about it is it's blade dress, they turn into a living whirlwind of blades and blood.

09: Dune Shark
- I always have a weak spot for sand sharks, these creatures could be the model for the Native American Tsemaus. Or just be their own creature, a fish/shark like horror that swims in sand is awesome.

08: Finger Mage
- These mage hating creatures appear awesome and there are too few anti-casting horrors in Pathfinder, this one could fit right in.

07: Demonic Tremor
- They can turn into a living wall, these creatures just look awesome and are bizarre at the same time. They could function as demons of some sort to break the endless line of humanoid demons.

06: Maggot Brood
- While the Maggot Brood itself already appears horrible and dangerous, the worst thing about these living nests is that they are covered in giant maggots they shake off when enemies draw near.

05: Primordial Scavenger
- One of the more creative enemies in Diablo 3, these small demons gather rocks and crystals around them to gain a bizarre armor to protect them, they become much stronger and tougher in the process.

04: Realmwalker
- A living portal, these demons carry a portal to the Abyss on their back from which they endlessly summon new demons on the battlefield.

03: Armored Destroyer
- These demons look like living comets, they fall from the sky and try to hit you with the impact, when they fail they transform into their demon form again and attack you with their rocky features, these are AWESOME.

02: Herald of Pestilence
- Much like the J'avo from Resident Evil these horrid humanoids have one arm that ends in a centipede, the best attack of the Herald is that it can put it's centipede-like arm into the ground and it burrows towards your location and burst from the ground to attack you far away from it's location. Diablo 2 has a similar creature called the Earth Mauler.

01: Putrid Defiler
- The most horrid of demons, these creatures appear near the end of the Expansion for Diablo II. Their infuse their fellow demons with parasites that eat at their brains and only burst free from their rotting corpse when the demon is slain. Other demons fear and hate the Putrid Defiler, and with good reasons.

Some others I really like to see as well:

Tormented Stinger / Phase Beast / Mallet Lord / Wood Wraith

And of course my project still going on, i've added many new horrid creatures from mythology to my project that is so long that it needs three pages:

Also check out A Book of Creatures for awesome new creatures, to name a few that I have never heard of before: Traîcousse, Romŝiwamnari’, Stella, and the bizarre Stray Sod, which Fear Gorta (or hunger grass) is a variant off.


I'm kinda torn on two jester monsters, I really love Jester monsters and i'm very happy with my Jester from myth.

I love the D&D Grey Jester which drains its victims of their positive feelings and replaces them with pure hate.

But the demonic Hellequin is also very cool AND from European/French folklore/myths, which is awesome. They are cruel Jesters which toy with their (mostly young) victims before they finish them off. They work for the Devil.

As for the Evil comments, it is all the presentation/wording.


I would like to see the elementals for the missing kineticist elements(void and wood..so far) so they can use that ability to create elementals.

And more composite elementals like metal (earth earth), plasma (air fire), sandstorm (air earth), steam (fire water), etc.


I like the idea of metal, plasma, sand/sandstorm, and steam elementals.


Now that we have the a chaos planar race, I would love to se a law based one. Also half-chaos and half-law outsider based templates would be awesome.

Yeah, the crystal dust form thing sounds interesting.

Half-chaos one could have a list of random abilities that it can have.

I am surprised you hadn't heard about on the board Wannabe Demon Lord, I feel bad that I hadn't said anything about it before now.

Nutcase Entertainment, I got what you meant.


I wasn't aware that there were any new races in Distant Shores. I've been meaning to pick up the book, but haven't had the funds. Sounds very cool though.

That is pretty much the only new race, although it does provide more context for some other races that haven't gotten much info (like Wyrwoods)

How about a creature like the garthok(monstrous humanoid or magical beast) from the Coneheads movie.

No, unless you count werebears.


Then they can create bear people, who mostly live on the surface. The subterranean version are at war with the drow who seek to control them.


We do have a skinwalker variant for werebears.

I don't think Paizo should make creatures just to copy creatures from D&D personally.


And we have werewolf blooded skinwalkers and I still want a playable wolf race.
