Oh I forgot that if you and your buddy both have this item you can share your skills and feats.
And if you die, it raises you as a ghost, and then the weapon becomes dancing and starts hacking away at all your ectoplasms.
And it lets you speak with dead days after the fact, like that other item that does the same thing. No, the other item that does the same thing. No, the other one. No, the other one. No, the one from last year. No, the other one from last year. No... wait, maybe it was one of the four from two years ago, instead.
That's only if the runes inscribed along its hilt are currently glowing a soft blue, which of course only occurs if the bearer is sad.
I thought the blue glow meant you are attuned but the red glow meant you can see the colored auras of other people and then control them.
No silly the red glow means it can copy somethings face.

Um, just wondering: If people keep quoting quotes that quote quote quote, will the original quote be swallowed by darkness?

The graytoned flag up above is getting darker and darker with each new sub-quote. Is there a limit to the number of sub-quotes?

Asking in all serious--not being snarky. Much.

I have a new pet peeve that I have seen in several items.

If it takes place during your turn, it is not an immediate action -- it is a swift action. Immediate actions only happen when it is someone elses turn.

You can perform an immediate action during any turn, including your own. From the PRD section linked in the post appearing immediately above this one: "However, unlike a swift action, an immediate action can be performed at any time—even if it's not your turn... Fair enough. Peeve rescinded.

However if the action listed could *only* be performed on the user's turn, I think that swift action would have been preferable to immediate action. But I'll put that down to personal preference.

Just saw item that I had "not-voted-for" many times, paired against my own. Please tell me this is not a sign of things to come. :(

Although to be fair, this is the first time so far that I've actually seen my own item, in spite of having seen others loads of times.

Marathon Voter Season 9

It's variable. I've seen items that I nearly always upvote paired against things I nearly always downvote, and while picking which is better is hard at times, I usually find it's a clear choice.

In a comprehensive test, everything is paired against everything else at least once. I'm not convinced you can make any judgement on how your item is going based on its competition.

In that example, I guess by making it an immediate action, you prevent the wielder from using a move action in between the ice cream and the sprinkles, where if it were a swift action they would be allowed to do so. Are there any other differences?

2 people marked this as a favorite.

This has already been said but I just feel like getting it out there...I'm saying to my future self as much as any contestant.

Wealth is built into the core of this game and there are assumptions regarding where the wealth is distributed in the items.

The item's price is supposed to be a direct reflection of its power, especially compared to the Big 6.

So if your +1 Magic Weapon of Awesome has a CL of 7 with a price tag of 20,000 gp, that's most of a character's wealth at level 7. Even then, only about 25% of a character's wealth should be in weapons (plural, so 2-3 weapons, not just 1).

At the point a 20,000 gp weapon becomes a realistic option, the character is level 13 or so. They can now afford to choose between your +1 Magic Weapon of Awesome and a +3 vanilla one.

Is your +1 Magic Weapon of Awesome worth losing out on the +2 to hit and damage? For full BAB characters maybe. Most of the 3/4 BAB folks are having a hard enough time hitting, so they need the extra chance to hit over whatever special effect the item offers.

These same principles apply to armor and wondrous items taking up slots in neck, shoulders, ring, and belt/headband. You're up against the Big 6. So think about your item's price and power as it relates to these.

Anyway, there's a reason that slotless wondrous items take up basically half of all submissions and that's to avoid this problem altogether.
