Thanks, Eliandra, Hawkmoon, Mike and others. It was a complete surprise to win that. Then this morning I received my Service Coin from Tonya and the Pathfinder Society. Almost had me in tears. Two awards, one con.

As far as updates from cartmanbeck and myself, we're going to hit the ground running with our next PaizoCon event for next year. Thanks to everyone that participated in our We Are Dragons event this year. And hope you get in next year. We're going to try and get a third table going.

I found it surprisingly meadia-quiet, so I thought I might share here: the Pathfinder Kingmaker RPG Kickstarter is now live here

The Pathfinder Minis site has two new sets of Iconic Heroes minis up.

I'm hoping these also have promo cards in them. The Occult characters do line up very nicely...

Oh, my goodness! This is awesome!

Yeah, the Box 7 characters are basically the Mummy's Mask Occult characters. The Box 8 characters give your Rivani and Meligaster from the Occult class deck. So really just Red Raven/Aric and the as yet unnamed shifter are the ones that don't exist in PACG yet.

I found it for pre-order on a site that claims MSRP was $29.99. So, looks like maybe WizKids is still trying to find the right price point. For some context:

Sets 1-3 had 6 characters, MSRP: $29.99.
Sets 4-5 had 6 characters, MSRP: $34.99
Set 6 had 7 characters, MSRP: $34.99

Sets 7-8 have 5 characters, MSRP: $29.99.

Granted, the characters vary in size and the first 6 all had at least one small character, which would seem (at least to me) to impact cost. It looks like 7 and 8 will each have one small character.

I'm just so glad to see these. Can't wait for more.

I am EXTREMELY excited that there are more Iconic Heroes minis coming! Can't wait to see what the inserted promo cards are!

Seconded! Have these been officially announced yet? I see the release dates are November and December.

WizKids had too many logistical issues getting the cards inserted, and have decided not to include them in the upcoming Iconic Heroes sets.

Oh, bummer :(

Add to this the worsening price/number of characters ratio, and my incentive for those boxes really plummeted (though, really, I'd pay even worse price for fewer chars, if they had the Promo cards)

I know there's nothing to do about the miniature boxes on your end, Vic, but do you think Paizo could/would come up with something to provide Owner cards for the new miniatures? I mean, Promo cards are already sold on the site, and I'd easily throw some money your way for a 10-card Owner Pack, or somesuch.

Man, and we had just warmed up speculating about what cool cards could a promo Honair or Red Raven/Bruce Wayne be...:(

Seems to me promo cards could easily be an incentive to buy these sets from Paizo instead of elsewhere. :-)

Aw man.

After WizKids made their decision, I contemplated other ways to do it, but just couldn't make the numbers make sense.

That is INCREDIBLY disappointing. :-{

Since you are looking at redesigning the game anyway. You could insert one iconic card in each coming box/pack whatever the box/pack end up being.

Just my $0.05.

Why not design the card and make it available to those who want it via Drive Thru?

Sad to hear. You probably suspected this would impact your sales numbers, but I'll voice that I'm personally not planning to buy these upcoming miniatures sets without cards (even though I bought all the others).

But I'm very grateful you let us know ahead of time--to have bought the first "new" set and thought "where are my cards?" would have been particularly disheartening!

Yeah, I'll also treat the new mini sets as a very big luxury item and probably won't buy them.

However, echoing gavin, I'd also like to see them available in some form like DriveThru or Paizo promos as well.

Is there a post of Vic's in this thread that keeps disappearing and reappearing?

Hawkmoon269 wrote:

I think so...I just refreshed the page & his post vanished & yours appeared...I believe his post said something about them not having the artwork they would have needed for these cards, & selling the cards on DriveThru wouldn't have recouped the cost of commissioning said art. Which is extremely disappointing, but understandable. Some part of me really wants the cards even if they have no art at all, but I also understand how that's extremely unlikely because it doesn't gel with the rest of the product & sets a bad example, etc.

...Maybe one day we'll get a mini-pack of Owner cards for a ton of characters at once...maybe even some non-iconics just to beef up the number?

I added a post and then removed it because Mike helped me come up with a plan that largely invalidated what I had to say.

The Iconic Heroes VII and VIII minis sets include the occult iconics plus the vigilante and the shifter.

We will be including the owner cards that could have gone along with the occult iconics as part of the Occult Adventures Character Decks. We'll find a way to work some gear for the vigilante and the shifter into something later.

Lol, that's exactly what I've been meaning to suggest as a last-ditch effort, if only the Paizo site wasn't acting all funky lately.

I'll chalk it up to "great minds think alike", and if you'll excuse me, I have a Class Deck subscription to renew...

This makes me EXTREMELY HAPPY Vic! Thanks so much for paying attention to our complaining! :-D

Thanks Vic (and Mike). Its great that you guys found a way to fill in the gap. Even that you spent time contemplating ways to feasibly do it shows the awesome way you think about the customers.

I remember Mike saying at some point that many of the cards in Iconic Heroes were obviously designed without plans for that character to be available. It made me sad to think that somewhere in some computer sat a designed cards for these characters that would perhaps not see the light of day. So, glad to hear they'll get into something.

I'm also excited for when the vigilante and shifter become card game characters. And I don't even know what a shifter does!

Hawkmoon269 wrote:

The shifter is described as being the same to a druid what a paladin is to a cleric. So they lose spellcasting prowess in favor of melee based combat prowess. That means shifting into animal forms / maintaining some enhancements based on animals (like claws), and they can take on various enhancements of different animals simultaneously with increasing levels.

Well that sounds fantastic! I definitely want one of those.

Yep, Shifter looks like it is going to be cool. None of us really have any idea of their exact capabilities (just general info like what Doppelschwert shared), as the book they are appearing in (Ultimate Wilderness) has not been published yet.

It'll be a little bit before we reveal much more, but there is a brief paragraph plus the illustration of the iconic shifter in this blog entry in between Starfinder and PFS stuff.

I won't bother you long with the few hours left for the Pathfinder Kingmaker videogame KS
I just thought a single reminder was acceptable, especially as we are doing our best to unlock a goblin stretchgoal that I feel I owe to the Great Poog.

Paizo has a short survey they are using to get feedback from subscribers (current and former). You can find get to it from here.

You can check out the minis that will be in Iconic Heroes Set #7 in today's Paizo blog post. They will unfortunately be sans cards (as decided by WizKids), but they still look nice. I'll be picking them up.

Thanks for posting this. The email I received sounded to me like the survey was only for current subscribers (not former). (I've since deleted the email and can't double-check it.)

Thanks for the update. I was buying the Iconic Hero sets mostly for the add-in cards; I figured it would help players feel more attached to their characters (a custom card that belongs to the hero and is featured in the portrait.)

This change will save me some money in the long run, as character standees would work just as well for the card game and Reaper Miniatures usually has the iconics available as miniatures a lot sooner (I know how to paint miniatures.) As an added bonus, Reaper Miniatures has always done a swell job, which I can't say for WizKids after their showing with the Mage Knight boardgame plus its various expansions.

Scarab Sages

This will save me money, too - I bought the sets only for the promo cards and then sold off the minis to someone else. No promos, no purchase for me.

A limited number of Ultra Pro PACG Deck Protector sleeves are available in the Paizo store.

Thanks for the heads-up, Hawkmoon.

I was running a bit low, so I thought I'd take the opportunity to pick up a few more - I haven't seen these for sale anywhere locally for over a year!
(It looks as though I might not have been the only person to do so - the product now shows as Unavailable. Ultra Pro do still seem to be selling them in their Amazon storefront, though.)

I agree, Drive-Thru would be a great place to make promo cards available to people.

gavin kerr wrote:

Or include them in the upcoming Occult (tempting) and Ultimate (for non occult) official decks.

For those of you that went to Gen Con, there is a feedback thread for organized play over in the Pathfinder Society Adventure Card Guild forum. This link will take you there.

Any word on when we'll get Magus character sheets and also a character sheet for Reepazo?

AD1 of Season of Faction's Favour is available to buyers:
SoFF AD1
More importantly, there are promo scenarios to unlock the characters from the Hell's Vengeancy Character Deck 1:
Murder in the Marketplace

I have to say though, I don't quite understand if unlocking the HV characters in these scenarios is necessary to play them or just an option to introduce them at a later point as well? If it was necessary, that would kind of diminish the point of buying their deck for OP, since that would necessitate access to a MM box.

Lone Shark Games

All should be made clear with the Hell's Vengeance scenarios soon, but I think you guys will be very happy with the reward.

I'm not sure we're on the same page here; when I wrote my post, the scenario was already available for download, and I've read the reward (basically, you may replace your current character with one from the HV CD, plus you get some fitting card from MM as loot).

What I don't understand is whether this is the only way to make them playable in OP, or if you can use them as any other CD, and this scenario is just a shortcut to introduce them later on?

Regardless, the scenario looks very cool, and I'm looking forward to playing it. It also implies some blessings that might be available in HV1, which is extra nice.

Lone Shark Games

Odd. It wasn't showing up as downloadable for me from that page. My bad!

There are no restrictions on using the Hell's Vengeance characters. The intent is that you can choose on a scenario by scenario basis whether to use the character that you played the scenario with or the Hell's Vengeance character. This will allow players to play HV for tables where it's favored and their original character for tables where it's not, gaining advancements and rewards for both.

Thanks for the clarification; I did not understand the intent when I read the reward - I thought you got the option to permanently replace your character with the HV character, but that might be because I am not a native speaker.
Now that I reread it more carefully with the intent in mind, it's become clear.

That's a really cool reward!

So you Are plaing with both side of law... nice ;)

Paizo is running a Black Friday sale on PDFs through Monday. It includes many card guild adventure PDFs.

Lone Shark Games

In fact, it's ALL of them (except the promos) for only $77.78. It's like four and a half Adventure Paths of game content. Good stuff to buy now.
