Legacy of Fire or Iron Gods I would definitely be in for. Mummy's Mask not so much, it seems like a nightmare for PbP.

Why do you say that?
Not the original poster but I've been in a PBP of Mummy's Mask for a while and it's a lot of exploring tombs, traps, and lots and lots of combat. So far it has felt very dungeon-crawly, and combat notoriously takes a while in PBP.

Are you having fun with it though? Or is the pace too slow?

I've been having fun but I can definitely see how it would not be for everyone.

Legacy of Fire would be the one that I am interested in most.

Distant second would be Mummy Mask.

Not at all interested in Iron Gods.

Iron Gods and Mummy's Mask are my votes.

I've run and played in some dungeon crawl games here on the boards and I can attest to the fact that they can be very slow. Here's my observations and advice on how to make it work-

Dungeon Crawl PbP games live and die by their scout-characters. Players playing scouts should expect to be posting about four times as often as everyone else in games like that. The scout-player needs to be very good at pushing the game forward. Every post should attempt to make progress through the dungeon.

The GM should roll perception, knowledge and initiatives as a "block" whenever players enter a new area or run into a new monster. In fact, ANY time a GM can make rolls for the players, they should. Nothing slows down a game like a GM asking players to roll each of their own initiative rolls or saving throws every time they come up.

Likewise.

Mummy's Mask never interested me, and I tried reading through Legacy of Fire but I found it too dry for my tastes.

No pun intended.

I'd agree with that evaluation of Legacy. I GM'd this AP for a live group before with relative success, but it took a lot of extra work on my part. The basic idea is great, but the AP felt like it had been rushed and there was a ton of missed potential. Was still fun, but I was personally compelled to put a lot of extra work into it in order to flesh everything out. Just my experience though.

Voting for Mummy's Mask.

Mummy's Mask!

Yeah it's the almost purely dungeon crawling aspect of Mummy's Mask that makes me think it isn't suited for PbP. So much dungeon crawling almost requires more than one post a day to keep from being very dull, but not all players can make that. I've seen GMs try to fix that by taking over when necessary but sometimes it ends up looking like the GM playing the game by him/herself.

Dark Archive

My vote would be Mummy's Mask.

@Pale King: I actually have found that there are two types of games that seem to work WELL on PbP: extremely high-roleplay games where the players get extremely engaged with their characters, and extremely combat-focused games that simply go through combat after combat, not slowing down for much in the way of roleplaying interactions. So I don't see why Mummy's Mask couldn't work perfectly well. :)

I like mummy's mask as I'm big history buff when it comes to ancient Egypt. And creating an aasimar paladin of Anubis or a slyph sorceress of Sekhmet sounds cool.

Council of thieves sounds cool as well as it offers some good roleplaying opportunities.

Serpent's Skull is good too as I made an elven barbarian named Sizara which means Feline Lightning but it could also mean Cheetah of Lightning on elven as well. I like the fact that in

Spoiler:
the second book you get a spirit animal and then later after you save a trio of spirit dancers from a succubus you can have the dancers tattoo your spirit animal on you. I thought that was cool to have her get tattoos of the cheetah's markings on her face and body. And yeah I know the gm rolls what spirit animal you get in the first place but I could always talk and discuss it with the gm about getting the cheetah as her spirit animal.

Legacy of Fire is a very interesting ap as well. I've always wanted to try rping an ifrit sorceress as this adventure deals with genies and elementals and what better adventure to play as a geniekin than this one!?

At this point, I'm down to Mummy's Mask and Iron Gods. I'm going to take the weekend to look over both adventure paths and make a decision. Look for a recruitment thread on Sunday!

Thanks for participating, everybody!

*crosses fingers for Iron Gods*

Thanks for giving us this opportunity, GM. :)

Sweet, top 2. Can't Wait.

You're welcome! And thank you for this opportunity!

Hoping for Iron Gods, (I don't think I have ever seen a PbP of it and it seems so cool) will still probably try out for Mummy's Mask anyway!

C'mon, Iron Gods...

Definitely would try out for Mummy's Mask too, though.

legacy of fire
Council of thieves

...my two cents

Really hoping for Mummy's Mask! I think I could come up with a really fun character for that AP. :)

If it's mummy's mask I'll have to decide between my paladin of Anubis or my sorceress of Sekhmet. Probably go sorceress since I've done a lot of melee classes in the past.

Shadow Lodge

Pathfinder Maps, Pathfinder Accessories Subscriber; Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber; Starfinder Superscriber

Hmmm. If I made a Mummy's Mask character, I think it would have to be a Wizard/Champion of Balance who worshipped Nethys.

It would very likely be an Investigator for me.

Iron Gods I am thinking Skald, Monk or Bloodrager. METAL! Mummy's Mask maybe an Archaeologist Bard? I also have an Imperious Sorcerer who was part of a failed Mummy's Mask who I happen to like a lot.

Iron Gods: Android Iron Priestess of Brigh.

Mummy's Mask: ...I'll think of something.

Silver Crusade

Iron gods I'd want to do an android wizard. Unless I could talk the gm into the mechromancer class I made a few months back when I thought my group was going to run it.

I'd probably run a Summoner for Iron Gods, quite possibly summoning some sort of mechanized... thing that my character has somehow built or pieced together. Quite possibly from random wreckage and such that's he's managed to find.

For Mummy's Mask, I have an undine cleric of Wadjet who started the campaign, but only got through one combat.

For Iron Gods, I'd probably try to repurpose my samsaran investigator... or maybe an alchemist? Not entirely sure there...

Well, it's been a couple days and I'm still undecided.

I guess I'll have to run both. >:)

Yay! :D

At least you're guaranteed to get a full party for both!

Sweet! I'll get started on my sylph sorceress of Sekhmet right away! Um...we can use non core races right?

Are you going to post the CharGen rules in separate threads, GM?

Haha, nice. I've been working on characters for both just in case, so I'll be ready to apply when the opportunity arises!

Will you be starting a separate recruiting thread for each, or should we submit characters here?

I will be submitting a wizard of some sort for Mummy's Mask.

Whew, more power to you, man! I'm excited to finally see an Iron Gods PbP. Time to start brainstorming!

I'll be posting separate recruiting threads later tonight. I have an IRL game from 7-11, so if they're not up before, they will be after.

Sweet and we can do non core races correct?

Both? Both?!

*sigh* Curse me and my tendency to apply for every game run by GMs I like... >.>

Silver Crusade

I'll see about a character for Mummy's Mask!

Liberty's Edge

I'm already in an Iron Gods game so I hope I can get into Mummy's Mask.

I'll be sticking with Iron Gods, I think. :)

Huzzah, a mummy's mask game.

well, ill be applying to both now.

Recruitment threads are up.

Mummy's Mask here.

Iron Gods here.

That is very appealing.

I would advise though to start just one and wait a couple of months to see how much the activity is accommodating to your free time before committing for a second AP.
