More seriously you can have debuffers like Witches and Pugwampis or you could give creatures massive stat boosts for their main ability casting stat. Or combine the two for Ego Whipping fun.

One considers them to be either too strong or too weak (never just right). But I'm wearing him down with Demonic Harlots - a book with Succubi for every occasion.

The other just doesn't like:
a) anything sexual, romantic, or not related to swat-team (or on alternating nights puzzle solving).
b) thinks that anything with a Will save is a useless spell/ability.
(Of course, conversely, his creatures never fail theirs' (legit dice rolls in theory) and Will saves are always pass/fail. And he doesn't understand why after a YEAR of playing a bard in his game, I was tired and wanted a new character. I buff. I use my one offensive spell. I get into melee and get shredded because I have low AC and ATK. I buff again. I get out of combat because I have no HP left, and just stand back and buff every x rounds, and take a nap. Oh wait, I'm a half-elf the most hated race in the setting, and everyone can sense this regardless of my disguise checks. So anyone not being engaged in melee will come at me. I can't imagine why I got tired of that character.)
His creatures are either tanks, finesse fighters, or long range blasters.

Actually, the first GM and I have worked out a character I may get to play in a future game. Based on the Warlock class from the WoW D20. A Synthesist Summoner, losing the Summons for Witch Hexes. Essentially, for whatever reason, there is a Succubus in her head, tempting her to follow her path, and become one herself. Though the character isn't evil to start, and wants to resist. But giving in means power, and attention, and lots of good things.

Maybe his next campaign. We are currently in Legacy of Fire part 5, and making some decent progress on escaping the Efreeti Palace. You know the place is hot when the Ifrit in the party starts feeling a bit warm.

As for the too strong, too weak dilemma that just depends on how and when the GM uses certain creatures against certain groups.

That is an awesome book that I recommend to anyone who would like to see some variant Succubi :3

A) Not much you can do there if their not comfortable with anything mature or sexual.

B) That's dumb -_- Reading all of 2 it seems there's a lot more going on if they're not only nullifying your character but making a point to go after them.

Rysky,

You mentioned in the Ask James Jacobs thread that Reign of Winter is your favorite AP. While I admit that particular AP (specifically book 5 of that AP) was the reason I subscribed to the AP line, the rest of that AP was rather hit or miss for me. What was it about the path that appealed to you?

Meh, Thankies for asking though ^w^

Hmm, I can't really think of any villains I've encountered lately (in any media) that I would favourite, I guess Nualia from Rise of the Runelords due to her "monster of your own making" backstory?

... the same reason everyone else hates them? I'm just petty and more aggressive in my hatred than others I suppose.

With the announcement of Hell's Vengeance I was, originally, interested to see what Paizo does with it, even though I hate Cheliax. But now after the first evil "iconic's" backstory was shown I now have to tack on that I hope it's at least interesting and enjoyable, but that hope isn't very high.

With making an iconic of this nature you would think they would make them a little more likable or something people could identify with and enjoy playing as on some level. Instead he's just an unlikeable douchebag that I don't even like as a villain, let alone someone to play as.

You can be Evil without being a douchebag, just like you can be likable without being an antihero or "Evil on paper only".

Pardon my ignorance, but do you, Rysky (or does anyone else) have a link to said iconic? I've been... out of it, lately.

(Also, I kind of thought whas's'name, magus <previously eldritch knight>-guy was the first evil iconic? Was I wrong?)

Pretty much. I've played an Antipaladin of Szuriel and a Morhg serial killer so I have no problems with evil characters and evil campaigns.

I don't like douchebags. I don't like Cheliax. So the "Evil Douchebags helping House Thrune" plot doesn't really appeal to me. Moreso since it's at the expense of the Glorious Reclamation, an awesome group that was apparently solely made in order to be torn down in HV.

I personally don't like that these two APs seem to be diametrically opposed in order to maintain status quo. Chaos gains in one area, but Law gains in another.

I also don't like that it is a Law vs. Chaos issue. So Lawful Goods can't oppose a Lawful Evil government? The choice is Tyranny or Anarchy?

I actually don't see it as anarchy vs tyranny even though tyranny is what you're up against (HR) and then helping (HV), you can choose how anarchic you are (Hell, play a paladin in HR, "LEGITIMATE AUTHORITY MOTHERF#%!ER!") and there's no restriction on what you play in HV aside form non-good I guess, and the "enemy" is a group of Paladins so...

So no I don't see it as Chaos vs Law, nor anarchy vs tyranny.

I see it as Hope vs Tyranny.

*sigh*

OK, yes, one can throw a spruce tree, but you can't wire a trap with one, set a timer for one, or hide it in a nook and/or cranny to surprise someone.

Admittedly, having a spruce tree lobbed at you could be very surprising (at the very least, unexpected). But you will still see it coming once the tree is picked-up.
