Throne of Night anyone?

Recruitment

I know there was a spike of interest for this AP back when the first two books were released, and now some players are questioning if books 3 and beyond will ever be released, but I am confident that since they delivered on all seven books of WotW, they will come through on ToN.

That being said, I would be very much interested in playing a drow ToN game, since I grew up reading the Drizzt books, but have never had the chance to play in a dark elf-themed tabletop game. Surely I am not the only one interested in this, so voice your thoughts if you're interested as a potential player or GM and hopefully we can get this ball rolling.

Thank you.

I'd be interested in playing a Drow game!

The hard part will be finding a GM.

I have played WotW but have no idea what Throne of Night even is! The name sounds cool, so let me figure out what it is.

After a cursory glance at the intros, the AP sounds amazing! I am unsure of whether I would want to run this as a GM or participate as a PC. I presume other posters are still interested?

I have played the first few pages of the Dwarf campaign, unfortunately that game petered out. If a new game starts, regardless of Drow or Dwarf I will apply!

Bought the two books available and, having skimmed through them with some practiced speed-reading, believe that I will run the campaign!

Those who are interested, put a nice little post up here on this thread about what you might want to play whilst I prepare to put up a recruitment today.

As a question, is it custom on these boards to allow 3PP material? I was considering only allowing stuff from d20pfsrd, which includes nearly all official Paizo materials as well as some 3PP stuff, but may be flexible on what people can apply for the campaign with, depending on numerous factors.

An interesting note for those applying: I might allow for 1 person to play a 'worthy servant' to the Drow, of any of the strange underground races, but only because this could be an interesting trope.

And to those who worry about 'what happens if the AP never has another book released?', the answer is simple: we will wing it like any DM/GM would in all the days since TTRPGs officially took off under Gygax! I have run SEVERAL homebrew campaigns, each of which satisfied relatively jaded longtime TTRPG players, under my proverbial belt so I can wing it if necessary.

Oh goodie!

As for material: that is for any GM to decide together with his players, some accept 3PP, some don't.

I need to think of what to do; probably a spellcaster of sorts. First thoughts go in the direction of a magus, but might change that. I will also look into the psionics rules on D20.

Edit: or an antipaladin; so many choices!

Excellent, I'll keep my eye out for the recruitment thread for this.

I'm potentially interested. Though Divinitus, you may want to start your own thread. Lets you get the recruitment thread into your campaign and it means you can fill the OP with your submission guidelines so people don't have to hunt for it. For example - point buy? How much starting gold? Are all classes and alignments permitted?

As for 3PP I'd say more than half of GMs either ban it entirely or accept only specific things. 3PP tends to be of dubious balance so I prefer not having it, but that's up to the individual GM.

Oh, awesome! Thank you, Divinitus. I'm not exactly sure what I want to play, but classes that immediately pop into mind are ranger (I know, I know, but there are evil rangers too, right?), rogue, magus, oracle, cavalier. I think an evil cavalier would be very, very interesting. Maybe an archery focused cavalier.

In the discussion of 3PP, I would like to request the Order of the Bow from the Advanced Options: More Cavalier Orders by Rogue Genius Games. If that is approved, I would definitely be swayed into going the cavalier route, especially if I could choose a Darklands appropriate mount... Otherwise, I'm still undecided.

If you will have me I will go with a summoner, who is being followed around by a spider-like eidolon (starting with 6 legs only).

Background needs to be filled, as you see I invested in diplomacy / intimidate and drow nobility, so I am definately of (lesser) noble descent and used to getting my way. I have no clue as of yet what my ambitions are, but we will see.

@Sixteenbiticon
I also looked at the cavalier, looks very interesting with a riding gecko (I played something like that in a play by email in ADD 2nd edition years ago)

Yes, giant gecko sounds awesome. Then again, so does antipaladin for that matter. I'm definitely adding that to my list of class considerations. Probably replacing magus.

Summoner sounds like great fun for this game, but we'll have to see what the GM thinks of that. As you probably know, they're quite the handful in pbp format!

I also thought about cavalier riding a giant gecko...

Hmmm, we could also do a full squad of gecko riders, we would only miss arcane spells then... (a druid could supply divine spells)

I also thought about a master summoner, but decided against that for the obvious overkill / difficulty to handle.

In my opinion my eidolon is not really overpowered (compared to other eidolons). I will invest in another set of legs for eight-legged spider fun and then maybe add some arms to have him look like a drider. Add webs at some point and large + mount so I can ride him and I have spend a considerable amount of my evolution points.

Depending on the starting level I could go mounted magus, that would cover some of the arcane role.

Would be very interested in joining this one as the "worthy servant" character - Divinitus would a Bugbear Antipaladin (Fearmonger) Archetype who follows either Norgorber or the Demon Lord Shax be considered? Consider that combo nasty enough to have its uses to his drow master/mistress... :)

Will keep an eye open for the recruitment thread - if acceptable would also be interest in tying my character's background to a drow characters (who he serves?)

Very excited about the possibility of jumping into this game. Need a good concept now....

Always interested in a Throne of Night game!

I'd love to play a drow wizard!

Liberty's Edge

I know it has been six years, but any movement in the rest of the books? I played book one with the author at GenCon some years back, but haven't played it since.

Nope, write it off as a loss on Kickstarter.

There was an enormous thread about that very thing... but the unpublished parts seems to have been gone defunct in RL.
