Zenith Games looking for Playtesters for We Be Dragons
Project Length: 1 playtest 2-4 hours long
Pay Rate: Copy of final module

Additional details: I'm looking for a few groups to playtest our upcoming We Be Dragons module. The module is about 2-4 hours long. It has its own custom dragons that the players will be play testing, so it's unlikely to fit into your existing campaign. After you run it, I'd like a few paragraphs on your thoughts, and I may ask additional questions. Your group will be credited in the final module (if you like), and you will receive a copy of the final module.

We Be Dragons will be found on our products page as well as Paizo and RPGnow.

Respond to: zenithgames.blog@gmail.com with your name, credits (if any - not required), and when you would be able to play. Subject line should be "We Be Dragons Playtester"

I'd like to know what books are allowed. Just the five main Paizo Bestiaries? Inner Sea Bestiary with the other bestiaries? Can we use the 3pp books like Tome of Horrors and Forgotten Foes?

Sovereign Court

Thank you for the questions!

For the horror, a mix of all the genres is good, though fear/revulsion might be the best. "Lovecraftian horror" is okay too.

As for books/creatures to use, they must be OGL (no mind-flayers). the 5 Bestiaries and the Tome of Horrors are my go to sources. No Inner Sea Bestiary.

The adventure is for 4-5, 3rd level characters.

The one downside to that mean means no thin man creature, which was my original go-to. They're in the Inner Sea Bestiary.

Did you mean to type rate: 0.15 cents/edited word (i.e. 6.6 words per cent or $7.5 for the completed manuscript), and not 0.015 cents/edited word (i.e. 66 words per cent or $0.75 for the completed manuscript)?

I read it as 75USD for the 5000 words?

Scarab Sages

thenovalord wrote:

That is how I took it.

I see 1.5 cents/edited word which is $ 0.015 dollars/word.

1.5 cents would be $0.15 dollars. I'm pretty sure Wicht and thenovalord have the right of it.

.15 is fifteen cents much like .25 is twenty-five cents.

.015 is a cent and a half.

The "issue" is that Trekkie90909 wrote "$.015 cents", which means really 0.015 cents, so 0.015/100 $ = 0.00015 $, which is cheap.

I know he made a mistake and everyone is just pointing it out a different way... just tried to make things clear for those who didn't get it.

(Also, I'm dotting this...)

A question for you Malikjoker, as I'm working on a submission for this.
Do you have a specific map in mind, that's already done, or do you require that to be sent with it? (A rough sketch I mean).

It is disconcerting to send in a submission and then have the publisher announce they are still looking for more. :)

I sent in one too, and figure they're just waiting till the deadline to reply, yay or nay.

I am not 100% sure what you are asking so I will attempt to cover all the bases. I am looking for short pitches rather than complete 4,000 documents as a first step. Each pitch should be for a 4,000 word document that focuses on a single class or race. Feel free to submit multiple pitches (say up 3) at a time if you have ideas for multiple classes or races. Please submit each pitch as a separate email. Please wait for a response from me before submitting more than 3 pitches.

Looking forward to seeing pitches.

Ideas initially, then some discussion as to what is needed based on the idea, then an actual article once the concept is ok'd. Previous examples or names of products or links to your work can be found.

Payments would be for finished articles, not just pitches, based on final edited content provided by writer (any additional fluff or material added as part of the editing and layout process would not be included in the payment).

Just a quick question. The july 31st date, is that for the pitch itself, or the deadline for the final product? (if it's for the pitch, I would hopefully be able to get one in, but not if it's the deadline itself, as I am currently working on a big project).

Thanks,

It "was" the deadline for submitting to this project. But I will say since we have hired six new writers for this project already it might be closing up much sooner than expected.

Evil Robot Games is looking for Freelance writers and game designers to invent new gear and reinvent existing D20 Modern and Future equipment for our Galaxy Pirates campaign setting. The idea behind this project is not to copy and paste old gear from sources over a decade old, but to create new items to fill the same in-game needs. This is an Open Call, if you've never written professionally before, now is the time to start.
Project Length: 1,000 to 2,000 words for multiple pieces of gear, several slots available. Smaller Projects (100-300 words) could be allowed to accommodate new writers with an intriguing single item pitch.
Pay Rate: 2¢ per word.
Additional details: Galaxy Pirates is a Science Fiction campaign setting for the Pathfinder RPG. Equipment will balance and cost as Wondrous Magic Items. Initial project items are focusing on equipment used to help you see (contacts, glasses, goggles, eyes, rifle scopes and sights, throwable cameras) and Light Sources (matches, lighters, glow sticks, flares, candles or LED equivalents, flashlights, lanterns, Laser Sights/Designators, Dazzling and Blinding Grenades). This tightens the design space that I need to evaluate. Allowable sources include D20 Modern(Future) SRD, any material that is open content per the Pathfinder Resource Document.
Contact evilrobotgames@gmail.com with the Subject title: Galaxy Pirates Equipment writer. Please include a writing sample of 500 to 1,000 words, samples should ideally include flavor text and game mechanics, though not necessarily both in the same sample if you don't have it. Also please provide pitches for any items you'd like to submit.

Future open calls would open up other equipment areas, followed by Feats, Weapons, Armors, Monsters, Classes, Villains, Maps, Encounters and maybe Adventures. Each time I'll try to provide information about the design area of interest and help you to be successful.

Some helpful information on Equipment Design
Equipment Guides

A little gallery with about 20% of the project's art for folks to get a feel for the setting.

We have a couple of replies already, I pieced together some more notes about our visual equipment theme.

Visual Gear

Also introduced the notion that all gear in the setting will have a Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical power source which might come up if there is a power surge or lightning strike and make resource management a little more interesting. An Electromagnetic Pulse could be the Mage's Disjunction of the setting with the caveat that with Disjunction you can't just replace some fuses with a repair check and maybe get all your magical gear back.

Elton Robb Games is looking for freelance artists to handle our Dragonborn of Phaeselis project. It will be your job to draw dragonborn, about five different art pieces. This is an Open Call for anyone with the talent.
Pay Rate: $50.00 per image.
Additional Details: Phaeselis is a high psionics plus city setting for the Pathfinder RPG. The entire city has been worked on with a Wiki that is available for reading here. I am cutting it up into pieces and selling it piece by piece until the Player's Guide is ready to be illustrated.
Contact me through Paizo or through the Wiki if interested.

Are you looking for B&W or color? Also, what size pieces are you looking for?

Ah wonderful. Forgot those details. Both dragonborn images I have bought are color, so:

Color and 1/4 of a page.

How does this Campaign Setting align with the announcement by Paizo of the Starfinder Campaign Setting and ruleset?

BTW - the gallery makes me excited for the Campaign Setting/products - liking some of the multilegged vehicles/behemoths especially...

Since 2007 Galaxy Pirates has been a passion project, In 2012 I did some playtesting of a core book that was a pretty straightforward mashup of the Modern/Future SRD and the PFSRD. This was prior to Pathfinder Unchained and didn't integrate anything from Ultimate Combat or the Advanced Race Guide. I started rebuilding the Alien races with the Race Guide. I slowed down my worldbuilding as well work on the Core Rulebook. I started looking at small products I could release from the available material which would let me build some momentum as a Publisher and learn any rookie mistakes 4-8-16 pages at a time.

When Starfinder was announced I had two freelancers working on a racebook and a setting location guide. Those writers and my playtesters all asked what was going to happen to the project if Paizo was doing their own scifi game? I said that Disney has Star Wars plans out for years, Paizo is releasing a scifi and game I don't think its time to let off the gas, if anything it's time to open the throttle. So my immediate plans for Galaxy Pirates are to make Pathfinder compatible setting material. Equipment, Weapons, Armor, Races, Monsters, Worlds and at least one Adventure.

Paizo making Starfinder lets me focus on the setting and not have to worry as much about Starship construction/combat and some of the other core book issues that were on my to do list. Starfinder also creates a market I was otherwise going to have to try and crack myself.

I'm glad you like the gallery, it is about 20% of the assets so far, there are 160+ images in the folder I keep on my ipad to show people what I'm working on. I'm putting more and more assets online in themed galleries like these below.

Robots are pretty decent sized part of the setting as allies, tools, and adversaries. There are a few design articles that deal with my art direction of creating the robots in addition to the design articles on the site which talk more to revamping Modern SRD rules artifacts.
