I just realized I submitted fewer items as DQs this year than I did for either of the two previous years. Only a few for breaking word count. That means the quality of items is higher, if I was using DQ submissions as a metric.
Every time I see that item's name, I think of the movie Airheads.

I swear since the cull I am seeing items paired up I voted on prior to the cull. Either that or I hallucinated entire sections of my notes...
There are fewer combinations now, I imagine the pairings had to be reset and we're starting again.
I have noticed that we are syncing a lot more frequently, despite leaving several seconds between voting at our house and a lot of Item A vs Item B on one screen and Item B vs Item C on the other. I'm wondering if the cull messed with the timing/pairing.
Updating the spreadsheet! (Though that's pretty much done at this point).

I could knit limited edition RPGSS Hats, but it wouldn't be free...Hmm. I'm not really a knit hat kind of Groetan...

Edit: Need to remember to write up a Groetan cult/traveling bard/puppeteer troupe that performs a Burton/Elfman version of "Nightmare Before Christmas Crystalhue" for kids.

Ha, thanks. :P I'll probably vote here and there over the next few days as I think of it, but my long national nightmare personal quest wotsit is gonna stop at marathon, at least this year. I bow down to my superiors in the consumption/dedication sphere.
Post-cull voting has been interesting. Items I've downvoted a few times in the past have now gotten upvotes, and vice versa; my criteria seems to swing around a lot from all of my original, measured 'well these are what I vote on' and has finally settled into a state of arbitrary "dammit, I just like you better than the other guy" as I stare at items. I'd like to think it's my voting selection process becoming intuitive rather than cerebral, but probably it's just a function of "OH GOD IT FEELS LIKE I'VE SEEN YOU ALL 20X BEFORE". :P
I've still been seeing a lot of new items even at this stage, though, so there's no doubt dozens and dozens I have yet to see. Hopefully I won't see them all in the top 32 and go "WAIT, WHERE WERE YOU?"

Oh believe me, it happens. I hit Champion the first year voting and still saw something in the Top 32 that made me say "WTF? Where were YOU hiding?!?"

Clue that a rod probably began life as a wondrous item (which would make a lot more sense, given it's powers): text mentions "wearer" instead of "wielder".
Don't feel too bad, unknown designer. It's not a bad item, and would have been even stronger if you had been allowed to let it stay in ti's original form.

Brutal.
Good example of an item I dislike solely based on its name. It's a staff that references a real job that is so expensive someone that works that job would have to be a several generations spanning elf to pay for that item.
I have a hard time upvoting ANY of the spellcaster-gib items.

"This [x] eats/dispels/absorbs/negates spells on hit/cast/save/etc"
There's a ton of them, and some of them go as far as stealing metamagic effects for a fraction of the cost of a metamagic rod or a comparable effect.
I'm just not a fan of the mechanic or concept they all are pushing.
Spellcaster-gib items?
Gib is to ultimately destroy a person, In this case, an item that counters casters.
Gib can also mean a wood or metal bolt, wedge, or pin for holding part of a machine or structure in place, usually adjusted by a screw or key.
