How do we non Alpha players actually participate in this event?
We watch the live feed, I get that, but for how long?
We follow on Facebook, but when and for how long?
We follow on Twitter, but when and for how long?
We listen on TS, while watching the feed, but for how long?
I have multiple devices that can do any one of these applications, but I'm not sure all four at once and probably not for the whole 3 hours!

The Facebook and Twitter contests have not been announced yet, but following @goblinworksinc and the Facebook page is ideal to keep up to date on things.
If you watch the live feed. Things are raffled off at random times.
You do not need to be in TS unless you are participating in the actual event. i.e. can log in and play.
Some events will not be with Alpha players and will only be me doing certain in game things or running tutorials... etc...

Hey guys,
There had been a 50% cut in viewers since we changed the stream to an earlier time. I am thinking about changing the time from 6:00 - 9:00 PDT. What do you all think of that time frame on Fridays.
Better for us west coasters. Not sure about those party crazy east coasters.
Nor the rest of the wide planet. :)
P.S. Thanks for the !raffle. What did I actually win? I missed hearing that part. :P
Edit: I see from the email. Really will learn to read, sooo promise.

I'd definitely prefer later. I think the North Americans with day jobs are still at work or barely getting home around that time.
Then again, what really matters is the alpha people. As fun as you are, watching you run around by yourself might not be enough.
And ask Ryan and Lisa to stick with the feed?

If you want constant and growing views you should reward those that view each week,
Say each week is a draw, and in this draw are tickets, each viewer gets a number of tickets for that week's draw equal to the number of weeks viewed.
This means to increase their odds they Have To view it each week,
and reply within 10 minutes of the draw, if not replied in time, they get reset, and a 2nd and final draw of the week is done.
The Recommended Award should be Either Alpha Access, or some high KickStarter like reward, i.e. Geo Buff, Magic spell creation, Magic item creation, monster casting etc.

People who are consistent viewers will get Mod status in the stream. They will be able to help moderate the stream and inform people of what is going on.

That I think would really turn off those people who paid hundreds of dollars for those KS packages.
Yes the Alpha testers paid $1,000 to gain access, but they also don;t pay a sub cost for all of Alpha and EE, perhaps as much as $600 value right there. They also get all of the Daily Deals, and the PDFs, etc... They basically come close to evening out.
More Alphas do need to eventually go out. I have a suggestion as to how that could happen.
1. Each Alpha Backer gets 4 keys to hand out.
2. Each Settlement Leader from the Guild Rush gets 3 keys, one for his/herself and two for a a buddies.
3. Previous winners of keys, get one key to hand out.
Every two weeks, every current holder of a key gets one additional key to hand out.
I think this should eventually cover everyone by the last week or so of Alpha. If it doesn't, I think everyone should get at least two weeks to familiarize themselves with the game mechanics, before the Alpha wipe.

I think that the lore-making chances have too high of a cost to value to be good prizes; everything offered so far has cost (at most) shipping.
Alpha access doesn't include EE access. The second KS included the $100 crowdforger rewards with the higher level rewards, but the first KS didn't. (Although it did include some nice physical rewards that the second one did not).
I think that bringing the flood on in the first two weeks before the biggest changes happen, including a total character deletion and server migration, is the worst possible method of introducing new players to a new game.

That depends on how much can be learned, about basic systems and experimentation of starter builds, in two weeks.

Can you market "It's week three, download the brand-new game client and enjoy character creation again! Also, enjoy the new geography and all the features that those of you who didn't quit 10 days ago don't think are critical."?

Yes I can market that, it has been done before, it's called "Open Beta". Gives everyone a chance to get a sneak peek at the game for two week period. Most MMO players are familiar with this and understand it is followed by a wipe.
The client issue you raise is also not typical. Usually the open beta client is about 90% or more of the launch client. Then on launch day all that is required is a patch. In many cases you can actually pre install the client, even before launch.
Going through character creation is one of the most popular activities among MMO players. In many cases a player will go through several interactions of each class, before he/she settle for a build for each class they enjoy playing.
I have 12 years experience of playing MMOs. I've played over two dozen games, beta tested over twelve, alpha tested three and I was a forum moderator for Bethesda on their Sea Dogs forums.
I think I know a thing or two when it comes to what is marketable and what MMO player expectations might be.

So, you understand the difference between "open beta" (it's feature-complete and ready to go, but QA wants two more weeks) and Alpha ("TODO: Gathering animations" "We'll implement sneak attack later." and "First iteration: Everyone sees a day/night cycle. Second iteration: Everyone sees the same day/night cycle.")
Two weeks might be a great time to schedule a server stress test, to make sure that the server infrastructure can handle the load of lots of players.
Letting EE players who follow the boards know about such an event is a good way to get a concentration similar enough to EE without introducing much of the overall market to a product that is not even the minimum viable product.

It would be less popular for US players, but what about a Saturday that is ANZ evening and EU morning(I think there is 9 hour difference between Canberra and Madrid)? I think this would bee Late late or early early for North America. But it would be boon to that other 2/3 of the world. It would be a really challenge at GW (say, 2 am to 5 am), so may be impractical for that reason.

This weeks AtwB will be from 6:00 PM PDT to 9:00 PM PDT. You're in for a treat!
Do we use the same Twitch link as before to declare if we are showing up? Is that even necessary?
I hope I can watch for the whole 3 hours again, but I'm hoping it won't be watching another escalation run. I'd rather see a PvP match up!

WOOT!! Im still feeling out the proper way to get these things going. It does take a month or so to get it all nailed down, especially since I'm only streaming once a week. I appreciate all of you who come out to show support and help me get the kinks out. More prizes in store this week!!! I will be giving away the rest of the Items that Lisa was kind enough to give me for streaming. I will also be giving out Alpha Access invites if we get over 100 viewers. Friday is going to be fun!!!

I can't speak for the other alphas, but I've never been one to imagine that the value of what I have is lessened by others gaining their own beside me, or at least not that I permit myself to recall.
If I have a lollipop it tastes just as good if you have one too.
I don't think anyone who was willing to contribute a grand was only looking for advantage. Granted I am an idealist, but I think the alphas had more in mind than personal gain.

We are not talking about the taste, we are taking about the cost of the taste.
I am in line at a convenience store and I buy a lollipop and pay .25 for it. You are right behind me and buy the same lollipop, but you are charged $5.00.
You're going to say, "well at least my lollipop tastes good". I seriously doubt it.

Hell yea, That Lollipop had better taste good and clean my teeth for 5.00$
The Swiss luxury confectioners at DeLafée are known for their silver and gold sweets and, in keeping with that tradition, created a lollipop sprinkled with edible gold flakes. Aside from the gold, they used the “finest ingredients” to justify the $38.50 price tag on this strawberry sucker.
