What are your thoughts on this first week of the landrush?

Not bad, just curious though wasn't OV planning on being a metal and stoneworking guild?

Highlands are still a pretty ideal location for that.

We are. Essentially there are 2 Highlands hexes right there for us. Three if we stretch out a bit. :)

Edit: Don't overlook the starmetal right there either...

Good stuff to hear as I plan on getting into weaponsmithing. I also want to to get into alchemy for potions and all that. Gotta do my duty in curing and healing the wary.

Ravenlute crests the hill and begins walking to the strange settlement when suddenly torches around its walls burst into flame and guards quickly start shuffling out toward him. He spins around to see if there is a monster on his heels but sees nothing. Then he notices the signs planted in the hillside.

'Stay Off The Grass'

'No Barbarians'

'Bathe Every Day'

'Obey The Law'

'Obey That Law'

'Just Obey'

"What kind of twisted hell is this," he exclaims and quickly ducks out of sight. "They're never going to believe this back home."

*Amaziah sees the man duck off after looking at the signs, he laughs which results in getting a small scowl from one of the guards

"Something funny Garundi?"

"Hmmmmm? Not at all friend. I merely enjoy humor when it occurs is all"

*He grins and heads back inside the settlement, on his way in picking some of the flowers in the nearby grass and handing some of them to the guard who scowled at him. The other guards snicker lightly as Amaziah passes them his little kitten companion popping its face out of his clothing to bat at the remaining flowers in his hand as he heads inside.

"Such beautiful flowers indeed, May the Sun Shine Down Upon Us All"

Walking up behind the bewildered Ravenlute, Khas pauses and takes a long drink from his half-empty mug.

"Honestly, how stuck up can this town be if they'd take a drunk like me in?"

*Khas claps Ravenlute on the back*

"Let's go find a tavern with some good looking booze and loosely flowing women," Khas suggests, waggling his eyebrows for emphasis with a smirk.

Have you considered leaving in the 1 hex radius of influence? It helps establish which areas are less crowded and allow for expansion.

That we do Brother Stone! We are figuring that some us will be mixed up in gathering, patrol, PVE, etc... parties anyway.

Everyone must belong to SOME settlement.

Not everyone has to belong to a Company. As far as I know...

Speaking of free agents can I start my church of Sarenrae being that she is in now?

If that is possible, we will have to run it through the choices for buildings. I have a feeling that "churches/shrines" will be multi purpose (several Gods) so I would bet "YES". We will have a "church" for sure. :)

It is possible. The lead designer responded in a thread of mine. I even think he mentioned that the gods get their own individual churches. I'll post up what he said when I get home from work.

What we do know about settlements and buildings is not much or specific. That sort of stuff will have to be crowdforged by our settlement. It would be a dis service for me (a mere small fry) to say anything about that or lead you on before we know more about what buildings that we really need.

From a "Logical" standpoint, and by the nature of our settlement's aims, I would think that we will have as much "Good" religion as we can and maintain balance with everything else that we will need.

Like everything...
<TBD> ;)

Edit: If you mean can you start recruiting to your faith. Absolutely! I would hit up Khas first. He is a Sarenrae fan. :)

I added hexes for the three already established settlements. The <original> map didn't include those.

Oh definitely with the recruiting, but yeah I meant actual church of Sarenrae as in doing weekend morning services and all of that along with weddings and everything. Of course I know the Iomedae church will have to come first.

And yes I do all of that stuff rp wise lol

Amaziah, I think your raising the POI issue here. Our settlement will likely be composed of functional buildings--things that have mechanical effects on the game, like the Settlement Hall, crafting facilities, training facilities, etc. If "churches" are in, it will likely be as clerical training facilities.

Have you thought about establishing a Shrine (POI) to Sarenrae? A claimed hex with a structure that functions as "a place of worship that provides some healing, some curse and affliction removal, and some religious training."

We need at least three more companies in the near future, beyond PTV, Fidelis and FMS to run POIs and Outposts in the hexes surrounding Ozem's Vigil. I know PTV plans to establish a Watchtower--it would be awesome if you were to get a company started, and establish a Shrine.

As soon as I find out how the systems work in full I will definitely consider it. I just want to hear more details. I literally found out about Seranrae being added like two days ago, so if starting a company is required to do this than I'm game. I just need to know more is all.

Not a problem. I just got done redoing the font. The old one was using times new roman and the 'm's and 'n's were a bit hard to read. The new one uses Pieces of Eight font. The previous <link> points to the new one.

That is true. Was it also true that you can only be in one Sponsored Company at a time?

Bringslite of Fidelis wrote:

I think that the way it will work is that any number of the companies can be sponsored, but each individual character only gets any 'settlement sponsorship' effects from the company they have prioritized highest.

If a character actually couldn't belong to two companies which are sponsored then you'd have weird situations like a company being unable to get sponsored because one of its members already was thru another company OR various company members with existing sponsorships being automatically booted out when another of their companies became sponsored.

Most recent information is three companies, but only one that is chartered by a settlement.

Personally I favor expanding those limits as long as all your chartered companies are by the SAME settlement; there's no organizational issue.

Yeah. That would mean that up to 2/3 Companies are Unsponsored or I do not Grok.

I suppose that they could. The only requirement I have seen is that we must be a member of some settlement, and that NPC settlements will work if you prefer. Just not well in the long run.

Yeah, I'm aware that they are not going to be there anymore. I don't plan on updating it until the week 2 update when the change is 'Landrush Official' and I have something to replace it with. Thanks for letting me know though. I feel like it will be a constant job to keep it updated as a lot of things will change and settlements will merge.

No, you need to make other settlements' names bigger; especially those settlements you want the OE swarm to hit.

I think that if we were allowed to belong to two or three sponsored companies, then secondary company (capturing 50% of your influence gains) will almost always be another sponsored company in the same settlement, and everybody's third company will also be sponsored by the same settlement so they can join it in case of a feud. The most effective settlements will allow very few, if any, characters to have connections outside the settlement. If almost nobody has connections outside their settlement's sponsored companies, we might as well be limited to a single company.

The current plan, where we belong to only one sponsored company, allows much more latitude. The tertiary companies (with no influence) are likely social connections that can exist across company and settlement boundaries. The secondary companies might be established for trade groups or even mercenary companies composed of characters from a number of settlements. I think it has the potential to have a much more interconnected group of characters with the current plan.

The labeled map is a great tool and much easier to read than even the one put out by GW. Someone may have pointed this out already but some of the settlements are labeled with the "company/guild" name, and some have the settlement name.

Still I put a link to the map on Deepforge's site. thanks for the work involved in making it Sundracon! Very useful!
