Know what I would really like, actually? "Group necromancer" mechanics. That way, you can get something like an undead army, but still encourage human interaction. For instance, necromancers could be able to combine their undead into very basic formations, or even summon large waves as something akin to the siege engines already planned.
Hmm. What if other characters in the necromancer's settlement could log in as undead as an alternative to logging in their normal character? (Sort of like monster-play). Some limitations, of course; maybe you can't go beyond some distance from the settlement or from the necromancer.

and as magical constructs too?

But i think the Devs might see it as defeating the purpose of alpha backers gaining the ability to play as monsters during events, or they may not see it that way

Ozem's Vigil is actively recruiting companies that wish to make their own mark in the River Kingdoms. We have an active, strong user base represented and plan on establishing ourselves as the premiere Lawful Good settlement. Looking into the War of the Towers, the most successful settlements are the ones that are going to have a large group of companies working together to grow their city's potential.

This falls right in line with Ozem's Vigil vision from the very beginning, as we are a union of three companies plus free agents already. But we're looking for more diverse voices to fill our ranks and join us at the table. Shortly our new initiative will launch and we'd love for you to be apart of it.

So if you find yourself Lawful Neutral, Neutral Good or just plain ol' Lawful Good - please give us a moment and check us out.

As we relaunch our charter, we wanted to share some of our recent decisions as a settlement, and also make an appeal to like-community members:

1. Our commitment to independence. We have not currently signed up with either the Northern Coalition or the Roseblood Accord because we feel that one shouldn't have to join one group or another to feel like they can compete. We will forge our own path and our own destiny.

2. Our inclusion of 1-step companies and members. We would like to invite LN and NG players and members to consider joining, knowing that we plan to provide clerical training across the full alignment corner: LN/LG/NG. We also want to have POIs with Shrines dedicated to multiple good/lawful gods: we have members committed to building a shrine to Sarenrae, and want to to find members who will operate a POI to Abadar.

3. Innkeepers and Manor Lords wanted! We have existing companies committed to shrines and watchtowers, but seek diversity in POI management. We would gladly welcome and fully support a company that seeks to run their own POI in such a category.

4. Crafters and Gatherers wanted! We hope there are players who are as excited about building and supporting a settlement as others are about defending it! We need mighty smiths and artificers: ring-makers and dweomer-crafters. We need intrepid explorers willing to brave the wilderness to bring back the exotic (and quotidian) materials that will arm, guard, and grow a mighty fortress of righteousness and honor.

We need strong, committed individual players who want a safe, supportive place to make their mark. We need enthusiastic companies who have a take-charge attitude and want to run POIs. If you find any of this resonant and compelling, please consider joining our settlement, and walk the narrowest road.

Speaking of free agents can I start my church of Sarenrae being that she is in now?
If that is possible, we will have to run it through the choices for buildings. I have a feeling that "churches/shrines" will be multi purpose (several Gods) so I would bet "YES". We will have a "church" for sure. :)
It is possible. The lead designer responded in a thread of mine. I even think he mentioned that the gods get their own individual churches. I'll post up what he said when I get home from work.

Is there going to be a "bane" type keyword, and if so, would you be theoretically able to do put banes: Race, Alignment, and Archtype(class) on the same weapon/siege engine?

Goblin Squad Member

I thought i read it somewhere but cant find it. It just may have been an early concept thing thats TBD

-scrawls a the circle of Nihimon on the floor and begins the ritual of guidance-

side note - any LG, LN, or NG crafter, gatherer, or trader free agents out there looking for a home?

Goblin Squad Member

yeah, the paladin coming in late is a bit of a setback for our settlement, but we are hoping the Fighter/Cleric route is a relatively painless process to then go into Paladin. Which some "good for most" abilities transfer, since I believe(correct me if I am wrong) storing up XP caps out at 3 months xp? memory kind of fuzzy on that, could be 6 or 9?

speaking for myself, I am mostly going the LN crafter with LN gathering destiny twin to help support the walking tin cans of the settlement.

Please do not "bump" a thread. If you have something meaningful to add, please do so.

I pointed at a squirrel. That doesn't count?

But the main point of the bump was a motion for some levity since the other thread seemed having some tempers flare up.

So IMO it was meaningful and in accordance with the intent of the OP of the thread (if I am not overstepping my bounds in speaking for the intent of the op)

Bored, so I put some icons for the existing settlements on the map.

Nice.

Hope you don't mind me linking to this map.

Anyone else suddenly noticing that the guild icon hexagons are aligned with the 'points' up/down while the map hexagons are aligned left/right?

No problem at all. I chose to keep the symbol as it was specifically so you can still see what terrain type it is on.

if only our symbol wasn't called Curvy Wing...

but thats prob just me

Hello Full Metal Syndicate and Peace Through Vigilance, I am but a humble dwarven knight who had pledged his sword to The Knights of the Crusader Road, however, no activity has been seen with the leadership of that Order for a while, and as such, I am looking for a new base to patrol the roads from.

I was wondering why I should sign up with the city of Ozem's Vigil rather than Pax Aeternum or Forgeholm (as those two, along with your city, are the options I am considering at this time)

Hello Stonebreaker.

I won't be able to tell you why you should sign up with us over another group. That's a decision you will have to make yourself. What I can do is tell you that we are a Lawful Good settlement and will focus on Paladin training when it comes into the game and following the vision we've set forth. It is something that both companies agree on and it quite honestly is getting really exciting taking the first steps to make that happen. If you would like more information, please visit our website here.

If you like what you see, we would love to have you. However I don't think you could go wrong with any choice of the three communities you've mentioned. Pax Aeternum and Forgeholm are both thematic and dedicated to PFO. I'm sure either of those will make you a good home, if you decide that we aren't the perfect fit.

All the best-

well we were on top for a bit til Golgotha started raising their undead horde ;)

It could still be that in order to get the warchief to spawn you have to get the escalation cycle to a high enough point where they get big enough that the goblins choose a warchief so he then spawns and can be killed for the achievement. so would be dynamic in that sense

Goblin Squad Member

or another way to see it is that he is just testing how defensible the choice was, if it falls he was right if it doesn't he may have been incorrect...kinda like quality control for settlements

Goblin Squad Member

These are most likely after MVP questions:

1. When/if fall damage is put in, will the jump and tumble skill mitigate some of the disatance or damage?

2. Will jump skill, if added, or character height effect jumping height?

3. Will tumble be added and if so will it have a set animation and use in combat with a distance scaled by skill level?

4. When/if safe fall is implemented, will it have a seperate falling animation kick in?

Goblin Squad Member

might be a little less lucrative if they have 1 bot with an empty bank as party leader who is set to auto-accept any SADs

Goblin Squad Member

could be a future implementation of the formation combat that was talked about, ranged formations

If they haven't actually reassigned H, AC, and AD, it makes sense for them to keep working on the critical stuff. I'm sure a lot of thought goes into where they put the Land Rush Settlement hexes.
Based on the description they gave of the general region for the new settlement choices, my guesses are: 04.06, and two out of 01.04, 05.01, and -02.06.

04,06 would seem to go against this:

The new hexes that were added are not within six hexes of those claimed by the first three guilds so aside from the fact that the old AD and AB are five hexes apart you won't have any neighbors you weren't expecting.
At least, I hope he meant "within six hexes as the crow flies".

so as i see it excluding borders and settlements within the 6 hexes:

13 total
8 woods
2 mountains
2 plains
1 highland

my best guess is it wont be woods due to the already abundance of woods (although that guess may mostly be due to wishful thinking) that the new 3 will be 1 of each of the other 3

In regards to whether or not the npc settlements will have much affect on the surrounding settlements

I am just wondering if the NPC settlements will enforce the roads based on their alignment and have set toggles like the PC ones

Example:
Thornkeep being CN will not let you SAD in their area but doesn't really care if you do it somewhere else even along the roads, but the LG NPC settlement does care.
So being on the road protects against random attacks from both settlements but SAD protection only becomes viable the closer you are to the LG NPC settlement
Or the same type of comparison with someone with the Heinous flag traveling along the road of a LE NPC town vs LG NPC town

(just a random thought, i may be way off base)

Goblin Squad Member

thats when you say
Hey, see those hills over there? There's gold in them hills
and cue the gold rush

@Tyncale For the moment, the best answer we can give is mountain tile because of the unpredictability of the landrush outcome

Plus, mountains would give me access to make golems out of stone since Q will only let me use the metal bits for crafting arms and armor.

I kind of like the gather information skill idea
since theoretically everyone of the npcs in town should know who the leader/leaders is/are and may even have tiny bits of other info on them depending.
This comes with the risk that if the skill check fails they may be found out and may have to get out of town quick
so no officer flag would be needed
