I have been thinking about when is it ok for an item to be a different type over what it normal should be.
Examples:
Ring of Force Shield -- is like a heavy shield but is a ring
bladed belt -- is many masterwork weapons but is a Wondrous Item, though it can be magicked like any other weapon
How much leeway is there?
Can you think of any other magic items like these?

I don't know Azouth, I think items like the Glove the probably should be a staff works fine as the occasional wondrous item, and wouldn't be too out of place in a compendium of magic items... but that is not really what this composition is looking for they are looking for superstar items, and the real question is whether items that barrow too heavily from other categories are 'superstar'

So I'm starting to copy every item I see, so I can tell if I'm just voting for the same 100 items in every combination.
Still not seen my item and not yet at 1000 votes, but should be close.
Don't lose heart, I got to around 1150 votes before I saw mine.

Ooo. Just saw the same two items twice in a row (on different sides of the screen).
I knew that such a thing was possible, and that some people had seen it happen, but I never thought I'd see it myself.
I kind of like it when that happens. Makes me feel like the items are jockeying for position. Like I'm a corpulent Roman Emperor, and they are shoving each other around the page for my attention. Yes... yes... vie for my love!
I may possibly have been voting too long.

Had that a few times and no just swapping sides will not make me change my vote and vote for a SAIC

Elixirs?
They're delivered in the same way as a potion or oil.
They may not be spellinacan items like the other potions/oils, but that shouldn't prevent there being a section for non-standard items in the potions/oils section, just like there is for armor, weapons, etc.

Okay, maybe this is completely unrelated to any item whatsoever, buuuuuuut... hypothetically speaking, can you chase somebody while you are being chased?
I'm just asking. For reasons.
I don't know about that.
But I do know there's very little virtue in being chaste, if you've never been chased.

EDIT: Gah! Stupid phone!
Not a particular pairing, just the one item itself. And I've seen it a few times, but hadn't before considered the its use by multiple characters, in concert.
Oh... oh god... what if two people chased each other!?
That's called dating.

I think that this year there are much fewer items that are utter trash.
Most items still are simply not very imaginative, some have a very good wording, but not much effect at all, some have an interesting effect but are worded in a bad or confusing way.
Imho I have so far not seen a top100 item.
On a second thought I also wonder how strange my gaming groups must be!
They usually kill monsters and take their stuff. The amount of bread baking, basket weaving, crop and lifestock raising is so non exisatnt that I simply can't appreciate the abundance of magical helpers that I've seen in this competition so far.
I think you should rename this game to Cropfinder or Harvester or something like this ;-)

What is it with Michael Jackson fashion this year? I like my handwear to come in pairs, please!
Left gets jealous of right all the time as it is!
I especially like the Little Miss Matched inspired items this year!

Seen an item that grants a one-off effect, of a spell with a 10K gp material cost, and it triggers as a contingency too, but total cost... less than 10K gp.
Even if you're not experienced at item writing, how does that sound right?
Remember, everyone, add your costly materials to the sale price and crafting price after halving the base construction costs, not before.
