I've created some Combat Manager encounter files for the Tier 1-2 version of 04-01: Rise of the Goblin Guild. I would love to get them up on the share so other people can have access to them. Can I just email them to someone? I've got them in a .zip file. I figure that would be the easiest way to download them. I'm working on the Tier 4-5 version now and wouldn't mind sharing them as well once I'm done.HMM... It bounced when I sent it from my Yahoo.. I'll try from GMAIL..
wait I noticed the email says pfsgmshardprep@gmail.com
Should that be PFSGMSHAREDPREP?
yes

I was hoping this week, but I've spent more hours dealing with health care insurance hell this month than... something really big (numerous)? I was hoping this week, but I'm going to be away this weekend, so next week it'll be.
If you're looking for documents that aren't on the google docs I can't really help though. I've only been able to upload the material I have.

Quick question. I love the GM prep folder, I use it alot especially being a new GM. I'm trying to run The Devil We Know Series for my local group right now. All the monster stats in the folder say they are HeroLab files. I have HeroLabs but when I tell it I want to open it with HeroLabs it just opens a brand new blank character. What am I doing wrong? The only thing I can find to open it with is like WordPad and its so full of code, its nothing but a mess. Thanks!

Sorry for flaking the last week or so Rob. I really have been tying to get in there to upload stuff after but it seems like life is getting in the way lately. Hopefully this weekend or next week I can get some more up.

A couple of notes:
The HeroLab file extension should be *.por (for portfolio files). If the extension got changed, HeroLab might not recognize the file.Try opening HeroLab, then using the File>Open menu to open the file. It might not work, but you will probably get a more useful error message, at least.

I have a question regarding the maps that were removed. I understand removing the available to purchase flip-mats and map packs, but all the other maps were also removed. Take "The Confirmation," Where the "Final Battle" map was removed, but that is not a published map. Or in "Destiny of the Sands (Part 1)," there was a "Well of Serpents," and a "Dancing Dunes" map that are not available to purchase and removed. I really liked the full scale size of those maps so I could print them up and use them since there was nowhere else I could get those maps at full size. Will those types of maps that you can't buy be allowed to go back into the shared drive, or do they break a rule?
Du Nord |
I think they still break the policies set in place by Paizo. Those maps that you are referring to are pretty easy to adjust, as that's what I do.
To help you out, I know there's a few people that use PosteRazor to resize the maps to the correct size. I'm sure photoshop will allow you to do this as well, but I personally use Microsoft Publisher. The maps in the scenarios, especially the ones you're referring to, can be extracted and copied into whatever program you're using pretty easily. If you need help with Publisher, shoot me a PM and I can walk you through what I do to print maps.
Pirate Rob |
I am not a lawyer, but the impression I am under is that none of the maps are reproducible.
You may not use artwork, including maps, that have not been published in the blog, although you may create your own interpretations of material presented in our artwork and maps, provided that your interpretations don't look substantially similar to our materials.
People can draw their own maps that are functionally the same, but distinctly different from Paizo Maps.
There were a few scenarios with VTT maps that were clearly not Paizo Products that I retained etc.
I'm going to go ahead and open stuff up. Seasons 3/4 haven't been uploaded yet but there's not really a good reason to keep it hidden.
www.pfsprep.com You can read and download stuff without creating an account, but to upload files you have to create an account. (The only person who can see your email is me, and I have no plans to sell them) If anybody wants to upload a few files (even just 1 helps!) for seasons 3/4 I'd be delighted to have the help.
If you run into any trouble feel free to send me a PM/email/post here. I'll be around (on and off at least) for most of the next 6 hours.
Also let me know what you think etc. I've just gone down the hirst arts rabbit hole so I likely won't have time to make large changes to the website infrastructure but small/cosmetic things should be easy to do.

I've been noticing the files with the extension of .GDOC or .GSHEET are messed up. I think those files were deleted and attempted to be restored, but wasn't restored properly.
I just checked the new site and nothing is there for that scenario, so hopefully someone has those files available to send to you.

If you've got them, please upload them to pfsprep.com along with anything else you find locally that's missing.
On an unrelated note, if you're trying to sign up with an @aol.com email address and your username looks like "4re9pgweubzg". You're gonna have a bad time.

Hey everyone,
I've been kind of distant with gaming lately due to some outside interests and just don't have the time to manage the shared drive like it needs to be.
With that being said, I've chatted with Rob and he has agreed to take over the reigns of the shared drive and hopefully make it bigger and better for all of us.
Thanks Rob

Hey, a HUGE thanks to you too! Without you, this resource might not exist at all, much less be as awesome as it is currently! I can't begin to try and think of how often I've referenced the shared resources page or directed other GMs to it in the last year. :)

It's been a great resource for me starting out running PFS games. Thanks for your hard work on this. And good luck Rob!

There are some talented creative people within the PFS community who could work to replace the GM Shared Prep drive maps with ones of their own creation, similar to these threads where members commission or share their character portraits:
I have several sets of tokens for scenarios which I have prepped which are mostly generic and should be ok. These are tokens I use both for VTT and print out to use physically.
Is there a compilation of which NPC portraits have been put in the blog? Otherwise I'll just double check and change all of the Paizo art for other pictures.
I'd take a crack at some maps, but I have no idea where the "substantially similar" line is and I don't want to waste a bunch of time only to find out that it does not comply with the license restrictions in the end.

I don't know of a compilation of blog art, although there's nothing stopping somebody from creating one.
As for the maps IANAL but a map that is functionally the same is fine, but it shouldn't be mistaken for an official Paizo Map. There are currently a few "VTT maps" on the prep site which I at least think are fine.

Alright, so I went back to the gdrive and noticed there has been a fair number of new files uploaded.
So I have locked the old G-drive to editing and added a read-me asking people to go to the new site instead. I would like to get the gdrive down completely by the end of May, but to do that I'm going to need the help of some of you awesome folks to help migrate files over.
http://pfsprep.com is the new site in case any of you have forgotten. Thank you everybody for all your help.

You might want to create a new Thread for that so that this one can be de-stickied and the new one stickied.
Stickied? Is that even a word?
It is now. :)

I apologize in advance for the thread necro, but does anyone have the prep files for #4-22 Halls of Dwarven Lore? The are not on the new psfprep.com site, though they were on the original shared drive.
Anyone? I've run it before, and used those files, but don't have them any longer, so if someone has them it would be GREATLY appreciated!

The old drive is still available, as not everything has been migrated yet.

I love this resource, but I need to change my access to it. Every time I log on there are dozens of new files. I like that I have access to these, y'all do great work.
Is there a way to only see the ones I have accessed or am currently prepping? I did a quick unsuccessful search through this thread, so I apologize if this is covered earlier. I've tried changing my google.docs settings. If I try and remove the files from my drive I can do about 20 at a time, & I think they come back when I next log into google.docs.
Any help is appreciated! Keep up the great work :)
Pirate Rob |
Curaigh: go to pfsprep.com not the old google docs site, which will likely be deleted for good once the last of that season 4 material gets copied over.
Pirate Rob |
Looks like my host was having some intermittent latency issues this morning causing some pages to time out.
As always, thank you so much to everybody who has created/uploaded material. Without you, pfsprep.com wouldn't exist.

I'm just returning to PFS after a break, and I was looking through the shared prep stuff to run Way of the Kirin last week. I'm a little confused by the new site. This thread says all the stuff from the old Google share is on the new site, but I'm not seeing it. The Google docs site has plenty of stuff on it, but the new site just has a message board, with only one post for this scenario, and none of the older material. Am I missing something?
Anyway, thanks to everyone who contributed. I may have to hit both the old and new site for material, but there's plenty of good stuff there.
