Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber

Well I already have the original but it would be interesting to see the changes and updates to the book. Well I have two months left to pledge so will see how things work out.

Either way good luck with the pledge drive.

Just a few hours and 79 backers for over $18,000. Bill I think you are going to make your goal.

I hope you guys will have some big @ss T shirts!!! I aint no lil guy.

No joke - I'm 6'9" tall, and am just big in general. I typically wear a 4XLT, or a 5XLT if they run small (I don't like snug-fitting t-shirts).

You going to be able to get them in this size? :)

Grand Lodge

faux-leather bound sounds nicer than hardcover to me. anyone think differently?

just curious, what is special about the battle map in the $250 pledge? is it customized for Rappan Athuk in any way or one of those blank ones?
how is it different from the faux-leather which apparently includes:
"29+ miniature-scale battlemaps (detailing 10+ separate locations) provided for iconic locations and key encounter areas"

Frog God Games

Bill had to go to a school board meeting ... we were at $9K when he walked into it, and he's going to have a pleasant surprise when he connects to the net. This could possibly be the largest RPG Kickstarter that's ever been done, judging from the size of the first surge.

Frog God Games

jkmorris1, I think there is something different about that battlemap, but I really didn't follow what they were doing on that side of the project team. And I really don't want to give a wrong answer to that, so it will have to wait until one of the other Frogs swings by. I will ask the team by email.

Frog God Games

okay, jkmorris, the answer to your question is, yes there is something different. However, the exact difference depends on final pricing between a couple of different possible suppliers whose products have different details.

I realize that's a vague answer at this point. We will update that information as soon as it's final.

Thanks guys.

You have no idea what this means to all of us at FGG. As long as you guys want our work, we'll keep doing it. Im sure everyone else will come by and say it too, but this level of support is really, really important to us.

RPG fans are the best, and no one can say anything different.

What happens if I've already pre-ordered the book here through Paizo but I also want to pledge something to the kick starter project?

Are you sure you pre-ordered Rappan Athuk? Unless I'm terribly mistaken, that's not been an option before...are you thinking Slumbering Tsar?

Yes, $250 was a bit more than I wanted to spend, but for the greatest dungeon ever how could I not?

May 3, update

Wow...I have no idea even what to say. Here I was, at a school board meeting, and I came home and looked.

What I do know is that we need to sweeten the deal a bit at the $500 level, and that the $3k prizes need to include a copy of Reloaded. I am really hoping folks will take me up on the Convention Trip Offer. Heck; I hope someone gets 8 folks together and buys the $10k item. Please add feedback on how I could sweeten that deal.

I love meeting new gamers; and Greg is dying to make me learn how to play Pathfinder (running a SW game for 2 days is right up my alley). What if I did iconic character sheets for the 8 players and put them out where the buyer got to name the PCs? Oh, and if we hit the $80k mark, EVERYONE gets a copy of YOUR Characters as a bonus! Eternal Fame for your named PCs!

I'll update the site tomorrow on the $500 level, and possibly add a 2 books no frills level between $250 and $500 (maybe $375--2 books, 2 modules?). I also need to add a perk to the $100 level if we crack $80k, and it looks like I might have to add a $100k level.

Lots of questions on shipping. Shipping will be billed as a separate item, it can be combined with several other books (please order normally from the site--don't pay postage, and email me that you want combined shipping WHEN I send the shipping bill--not before). The reason I do this is that from a shipping standpoint, I can minimize errors by printing automated labels from paypal with your info on it (just like we are doing for Tsar). I can likely fit 3 RA's in one large box easily--or 2 RA's and a Tsar (hint, hint--we still have about 120 signed, numbered Tsar's left--and yes Tsar is related to RA).

You guys have made the frogs really happy. I am overwhelmed by the support, and reminded again of why we do this. The confidence that you all showed on first Slumbering Tsar and now this effort makes me well up. Tabletop and old school gaming is NOT dead.

I will start my Lisa-letters very soon. Matt and I both have a few bonus levels to write, and Team Frog has a ton to do before Dallas. Thank you all!

Things I expect to here my PCs say (or scream)as they explore Rappan Athuk.
1. Help, I fallen down the Well and can't get up!
2. Oh God, what's eating me?!
3. This is Throngar's twin brother, Drongar, who has identical stats and equipment as his recently departed brother.
4. Ha, ha, Orcus, yeah right...oh, you're serious...
5. We should split the party...
6. The EPA says you can't kill anymore of my characters unless we start using recycled paper for character sheets.
7. So am I just dead, or dead, dead?
8. Does this charred, flayed skeleton look like our party rogue?
9. Apparently my insides are now my outsides...
10. It's ok guys and girls, I'm sure these monsters are challenge range appropriate for us! (said two rounds before dismemberment).

Hi Bill

I may be in a minority, but having input into the project isnt an incentive to me at all (like naming monsters and stuff) - I'm willing to pay you guys to do it because you can make something I'll like more than anything I can come up with myself.

The things which would entice me to back at a higher level (or to rope in some of my friends and get them to contribute too) are things which can be used in the game. Extra battlemats, player handouts, that kind of thing (maybe an A3 size cross section of the whole shebang?) A booklet of "you see this" pictures a la the original tomb of horrors? That would be awesome. Those are the kinds of things I would love to see as higher tier incentives and/or "threshold rewards".

Looking forward to the story behind your letter to Lisa. :)

Have to agree with Steve - it's tangible extras that mean more to me, and (I suspect) most posters who live outside the US. I'm not going to be going to a US con any time soon. I'd have to second the call for an illustration booklet - I think that would have been a terrific incentive for a project of this scope - but appreciate that the timeframes for this make that tricky. Having said that, I think I'll be in for the $250 mark, even though it's a bit of an 'ouch' to my finances, because it offers some terrific tangibles.

This really is a stellar project, and although I might gripe a little at the cost of some of the rewards vs useful gaming materials, Bill and the Frog God team have come up with another in a string of products I just have to have, and I'm behind it all the way.

Reading #2 almost made me spit yogurt on my computer screen, literally lol'ed!

Pledged! But not at the level I wanted. I could not convince DW that it was worth investing $10,000, even if we could manage to split it 8 ways.

Here's hoping that FGG is blown away and that they spend the next 2 months reeling, trying to come up with new pledge level enticements (Like Rich Burlew did for the OOTS Kickstarter). It is my opinion that Frog God Games is the best third party publisher out there at this time, so GET THOSE PLEDGES IN PEOPLE!!

As a side note, if anyone in the New England area is interested in making that $10,000 pledge and needs an extra player, send me a PM and I will be there!!

Steve (and others)-

Please be assured we are looking into tangible extras as fast as we can. As a company, we are brainstorming new ideas to entice you guys (due to the FANTASTIC support you all have given us), then we have to check with suppliers to verify our ideas can be done, then we'll post what we come up with.

Just to whet your appetite, the cross-sectional map you mentioned? That is being redone from the RARE version, with the new levels added, and blown up to cover 2 pages (it was almost illegible with the new stuff added. That's in every book, so no fear there.

More as we know...

SG

PS Have I said lately how much I love the FGG/Paizo/Pathfinder fans? :-)

@ Skeeter,

No, but it is nice to know we are appreciated anyway.

A "You see this" type booklet would be really, really cool!

Actually, I heard that James Keegan just finished up some big project. Slumbering something or other.. maybe he's free? ;-)

Steve--sold--I will look at these options.

I am totally stoked about this project and FGG in general. I would also like to voice my support for what Steve mentioned above.

Dreamscarred Press

Wow, that is awesome.

Congrats, guys, looking forward to seeing this beast come out.

I'm tempted to get it for my GM, but then I'd have to deal with him actually using it...

Frog God Games

I like the Tome of Horrors "you see this" thing--but we would never get it done anywhere near the timeframe for delivery. I could get behind a poster map of the level crossection--or maybe a poster map of the outdoors...thoughts?

We are also looking at other play aid options.

Shadow Lodge

A poster map of the cross-section would be awesome...and extremely intimidating. :) Mwaa haaa haaa !

If this would be a Kick-starter perk and not necessarily something that is included with the book, it could always be sent a few weeks/months later. (If time is the only reason not to do it.)

Always a pleasure to pile work on hard pressed minions of the Frog God!

And in response to Bill - yeah, I kinda guessed the time constraints made the illustration booklet impractical, but yay for poster maps! My heart says cross section of the dungeon for oh-so-cool, but my head says wilderness for oh-so-practical.

Here is a list of things that I think would be great to add wherever you see fit, these could be digital or printed:
-Poster maps
-Player handouts
-"you see this" pictures
-extra monsters (like a mini bestiary, they don't have to be in the book)
-extra encounters
-modules
-more maps (like the one that is in Black Monastery)
-battlemats/flip mats of key areas (don't need to be laminated)
-paper minis of iconic bosses or NPC's
-A thank you letter to the fans (signed or not, we don't want to give you Carpal Tunnel Syndrome)
-a short story that takes place in Rappan Athuk
-a story of a memorable encounter that one of you ran in Rappan Athuk

When you say that you cannot "get it done anywhere near in time for delivery," it made me think of Rich Burlew's Order of the Stick Reprint Kickstarter. All of the rewards for that were delayed (I still haven't received mine yet), but people still pledged and he is working on getting them done.

I am okay with delayed rewards. Digital rewards are easiest in this regard because we don't have to wait for them to be shipped. The book ships out on time, and I get an email later that my reward is ready for download.

I, for one, would not mind even if my book shipped out late (even months late) to wait for a printed reward (like a "you see this" book) to come in. Part of this is due to the fact that I will have Slumbering Tsar to keep me occupied with Froggy Evilness for quite some time.

I also acknowledge that delayed rewards likely means more bookeeping for you, the publisher. That may be more work than you want to do, especially on top of all the day to day work of running a publishing company. That's your call, and I respect whatever you decide. I just want to let you know that if you want to produce more FGG awesomeness and I have delay my gratification to get it, then I will wait patiently. I have full trust that you will not let us down.
