Don't even get me started.
On the other hand, in China there was yet another attack on kids. Some guy made a car bomb and drove it into a group of kids, essentially filled his car with fireworks and a gas cylinder, coved it in fuel and set fire to it.
All the kids survived, some had minor injuries. As I was saying earlier, 99% of people would have no real clue how to actually make a meaningful weapon.
Would be nice if these people with an issue would seek a bit of help though... goodwill to all mankind and all that?
Why can't we all just be friends? :)

Time pressure to prepare for my oral exam, migraine, a brother who nearly died when having a seizure (but is, thank gods, better now) all made up for a pretty taxing holiday. Sorry for the irregular posting, I hope things get better now!
(Actually, they already do, a late santa from the post just delivered my warhammer rules set.)

Thank you, Twilightrose.
I actually heard about the incident when my brother was already out of the hospital. His wife, a nurse, resuscitated him. They found no cause for the seizure and believe it was stress induced (probably combined with dehydration). He won't be 'allowed' to work for a few month, hopefully all is going to be well.

For a few months? Wow. Well, I hope that it wasn't anything serious and it isn't reoccurring. My uncle and my mother have non-epileptic seizures from time to time. They live relatively normal lives, though, the seizures are pretty rare and they can usually feel them coming on before they start. It is pretty scary to see one happen, though, especially when it's your mom and you're a kid!

Its more his line of work - he is a salesman for hospital beds and his main job is driving from hospital to hospital - I think he is spending far mor time in his car then out of it (probably one of the reasons for the dehydration). This was the first time my brother had a seizure (as far as he knows, that is) and that one was serious enough to stop his breathing and his heart. The doctors are cautious to put him behind a wheel for now, to say the least.

I thought they did Xanadu last year.
Campy roller-disco seems deriguer though, I suppose its a nod to what used to be the biggest New Years party in Sydney for many many years which were the New Years RAT parties, which later gave way to the PRIDE parties (and then I think they dropped after that) - certainly very Campy.

Yeah about time some of you guys joined us in 2013, stop being so 'last year'!
Too hot and I'm too brittle from last night, so have spent today doing assignment work.
Just putting the finishing touches on a paper to submit tonight, and my last one should go out on Friday.
Now only 10 days before my big fun timey adventure.

What is the best Wild West rpg out there that any of you folks have experience with?
I think either Deadlands system will work pretty well even without the presence of the supernatural. I really like the 'poker for duels' rules.
Another good option is All Flesh must be Eaten + Fistful of Zombies. Again: just scratch the supernatural stuff and you have a pretty solid ruleslight system (and a backup universal system with great zombie mechanics if you don't ;-) ) (but then, I am a real sucker for the Unisystem games...if you want to check before spending money, the Witchcraft game is free - it has nothing to do with western, but the basic rules are the same in AFmbE.

That really depends on your preferences. Classic Deadlands is the more rules heavy game, while Reloaded uses the pretty light Savage Worlds rules (with some variations like the mentioned duel mechanics). I like the reloaded rules better, but I use much of the setting material from classic Deadlands. I never considered Reloaded bland, but there is much less setting material available for the new rules.
If you are looking for more mainstream western feeling, even with supernatural elements, you would need to change a lot from the deadlands setting anyway - there is more Steampunk in that than a giant robot spider could carry ;-)

I just took a quick look through my collection and came up with the following:
Deadlands
Sidewinder/Sidewinder Recoiled (D20 based)
Aces & Eights
Dogs in the Vineyard
OGL Wild West (D20 based)
Colonial Gothic (but only to a certain degree)
I would surely vote for Dogs in the Vineyard or Aces & Eights.

I read most of Mark Twains novels and essays - including of course Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn.
But clearly, Little Fears is pseudo-medieval fantasy with string-world elements - haven't you read 'The Dark is Rising?'
Joking aside: I love 'Little Fears' more than I do love Wild West if that is any consolation ;-)
