Oh...my...goodness.

She's asleep.

In her own crib.

Not my bed. Not the bassinet next to the bed. Her own crib. For a couple hours now!

This...this is the greatest moment since she was born, damnit. I might actually get a full night's uninterrupted sleep!

Yeah, sometimes I do sleep nekkid. The pile of coins irritates the scales less that way.

(She's 3 months, btw, and the *actual* greatest moment has been every single smile, followed by yesterday's realization she can roll over on her own - but those things are significantly less funny)

About to go home. Have a good weekend, everyone.

Drejk...I kinda thought Poland would choose a couple other countries to balance out past grievances before setting their sites on the Czechs...

I have a slow cooker full of chili bubbling away. It smells so good. I wonder how spicy it will be. I put just shy of a pound of fresh jalapeños in it.

Well, Germany are better armed and more numerous. Invading anything to the East of us would give Russia excuse for intervention. I have doubts if we have enough fleet to make a landing on Bornholm, less so on farther Baltic islands. So the only left were Czechs and Slovaks...

Maneater is amazingly fun to play.

One friend held a huge party when his youngest was potty trained and diapers were gone forever.

I celebrated when the youngest could make a peanut butter sandwich by themselves. Spreading peanut butter on bread is hard. Until then, an adult had to be on lunch duty every day.

More parental milestones to come.

Potty training with Crookshanks was a pyrrhic victory.

No one won that one.

Tiny T-Rex was the complete opposite.

So.

Went for COVID-19 antibody test and tested positive. The time had come for me to look into donating blood so I can help others who are less fortunate.

Was the test something offered to you through your employer? Because we're still in the, "Don't ask to be tested because we don't have enough tests to go around" phase here in California.

EDIT: No matter what the press releases say, as a member of the chaperone group we're in touch with a few hundred parents, and even as recently as last week we here hearing horror stories of, "I was exposed to someone who tested positive so I wanted a test, but the doctor said that wasn't sufficient justification..."

Gods. I thought my faith in humanity couldn't sink any lower, but here I am at Fourth Street on a Saturday to pick up some teas... and from the looks of things you couldn't tell California ever HAD a virus. Crowds of people standing in bunches in the Spring sun, maybe 6 masks among the 150 people...

It's over. The virus has won, and it will run its natural course here. Here's hoping it isn't as bad as the models predicted.

This is turning out to be a step-father bonding weekend with Homunculus #1. Yesterday I downloaded Ark because Epic Games is giving it away for free for a few days -- H1 loves dinosaurs, and plays Ark already. And today I got Pokemon Go and we spent a couple hours catching pokemon. This game definitely capitalizes on the completionist instinct, and my inner completionist is strong...

A Pyrrhic victory is still a victory. Just ask Zapp Brannigan and the Killbots.

I spent an hour this afternoon scrubbing out the turtle tank, all the rocks and all the hoses, reconnecting everything, and now I can't get the pump to re-prime. The kids are taking turns for a bit because my arms are about to fall off.

Hey, people who know the rules!

Is the CR for this trap in Shattered Star calculated correctly?

Shattered Star minor spoiler:
At one point, the only way for the PCs to proceed is to use a teleporter, and at the other end, "First, all ongoing spell effects in effect on the characters are subjected to a dispel magic effect (CL 20th). Second, the character is
subjected to a remove disease and a neutralize poison effect (CL 15th). This effect also neutralizes any poisons carried by the PCs (but does not
affect poisons carried in extradimensional spaces, such as in a bag of holding). These effects happen instantaneously."

Even though the book doesn't want it to be one, this is obviously a trap designed to burn the party's resources by forcing them to re-cast all their buffs. Shiro and I were wondering about its CR. So here goes my attempt:

- You cannot detect it with Perception nor Detect Magic, because it only affects people who come through the teleporter. CR+3
- You cannot disable it. CR+3
- It automatically resets; every person who uses the teleporter is affected. CR+1
- It hits multiple targets. (Everyone who uses the teleporter.) CR+1
- It cannot miss; there is no attack roll involved. CR+2
- To represent hitting each PC with a swath of Dispel Magics, you have to assume a Greater Dispel Magic cast on each PC. CR+6

So I'm already at CR 16, and there are probably more modifiers in there that I'm missing. (Does it count as a proximity device?)

Anyway, just curious, thanks!

Apparently some people get it completely a-symptomatically. Lucky you! unfortunately I'm also hearing that you can catch it more then once.

Are you calling me fat?

I'm reading a book called "Stockholm Syndrome". I hated it at first, but now I really love it.

My new girlfriend told me I'm terrible in bed. I think it's really unfair of her to make such a judgement after less than a minute.

I was at the store today, and as I left a man holding a cigarette came up to me and said "Hey, man. You got a match?" I replied "I haven't had a true match since Superman died." and walked away.
